There appears to be a large increase in this type of problem at this time, it seems that that there is a problem at Apple's end, but I couldn't at all be sure.
There are no issues being reported at Apple’s System Status page, but this status may yet be updated and it may be you need to try again a little later.
This isn't affecting me here in the UK, where exactly are you.
So far I have noted users in the following locations having similar problems:

If this is a problem at Apple’s end, it rarely happens, however when it does only Apple can fix it. When this has occurred previously it has usually been resolved in a few hours or slightly more.

That's not a feature of the iPhone. Or most other phones for that matter.

What you are seeing is how Safari works now in iOS 5. There is no way to get that icon in Safari now. There other much better browsers available in the App Store. Look at iCab Mobile, Mercury, Atomic, ....

I'm staying at my house in Peru, South America. From my PC laptop I can see my neighbor's wifi service network, but I also have my mini iPad and I can not figure out why I can't get any wifi connection from my area. Is there a setting I need to do?
Yes, I did try to go on my settings>wifi and was waiting for any wifi signals to pick up, but nothing shows up. But on my PC I get a whole list of networks to choose from. Regarding my neighbor, I already have her password that is why I was able to get it on my PC, the problem is that the mini Ipad is not picking any signal neither can it locate me when I go to maps.

My apple tv main menu no longer displays the "movies" section, just internet, computers, and settings. Does anyone know why or how to get it to show again? Recently rented a movie directly through apple tv but can't see the "movies" section in main menu now. WiFi and home sharing are working.

Check the location setting for the iTunes Store is correct.
You might also try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router.
If you are still having problems try a restore. -

Alright, I found the issue. This is how I have resolved my issue. I hope it will help you.
1. This issue could happen, if your apple TV doesnt have internet, connectivity to iTunes servers, or you haven't logged in to iTunes account in your apple TV
2. Test the network on apple tv - General - settings - network - test network, Try to aviod using wifi use LAN cable, since we are trying to fix the issue.
3. Set your exact location manually - Which city you are in from settings-General - Time Zone- choose your City currently you are in.
4. Login to iTunes account - settings- iTunes Store- set your default store - for example I am in Mongolia but using my New Zealand account on Apple TV, in our case my Apple TV iTunes account location is New Zeland.
5. If you are facing any issues to login to your iTunes account, That explains you have an issue with connectivity back to iTune servers, or sometimes it could be apple iTune servers may have problems. To verify which is one is the problem login to your itunes on your laptop or desktop for testing purposes, make sure you are using the same internet connection as your home apple TV is using.
6. if you are able to login you should able to see all the available channels and full list on Apple TV.

I've rented & downloaded a movie on my computer in itunes, but it does not show up on my Apple TV. Everything else shows up on Apple TV, including my computer's movie library. When I click on the movie in Apple TV it says I've already rented it and asks if I want to rent it again. No, I just want to watch it.
Unfortunately I have to if I download it on my computer. I have rented itunes movies before directly using the Apple TV and it worked just fine and I could stay in the living room. Without clicking that icon on my computer, there was no way to watch it.

all of sudden, I can't launch iTunes as I get a popup saying "iTunes requires Quicktime 7.5.5 or later". I only have 7.4 currently and the apple site doesn't show anywhere to download Quicktime upgrade. Software Update detects no reqd updates. Help pls??

I have just connected my new apple TV and in the main menu see only two icons: computers and settings. How do I access the rest of the icons (internet, movies etc...) We do not live in the US. The unit has full WiFi access with no problems, I can access ITunes on my laptop via home sharing no problem.
Glad that this solved your problem but if you searh past threads there are a LOT of people with identical problems.
Reading through the threads my take is
There seems to be something awry with wifi chipset. Typical symptoms are initially being able to connect to connect to a Wifi network then the connection is dropped. Then you see just the 'computers' and 'settings' icons on screen
Power off, reset and factory restore doesnt seem to solve it
Occasionally its nearby antenna cables etc causing interference
One report with convincing evidence it was the HDMI cable, swapping to anotehr cable fixed the problem
Plugging in ethernet works, this is purely a wifi issue
Sometimes plugging in ethernet temporararily wakes up the wifi
Many people seem to have exchanged their units only for the same thing to happen to the new unit a few weeks later. Just wondering if its a fomponent fail or heat issue. -
HT1551 Apple TV - can only see Computers and Settings options (no internet)
sine the apple2 tv software was updated last week I can only see options for computers and settings
whilst my internet connection is clearly working, I cannot access youtube or internet radio as there is no internet option
any ideas how to fix this pls?My ATV3 has worked beautifully for the last week. We woke up this morning to find this problem. Nothing weird happened over night - my entire network has been up all night with no resets or anything strange.
The ATV3 accessing all of my Home Sharing content, so I know the network is fine (wired). Tried resetting and cycling power. Tried changing locations/setting language. Nothing. I even tried resetting my DSL Router, but to no avail.
I've got nothing fancy going on with my location, short of being in Canada.
Update: Oh, and I have a 2nd ATV3 downstairs, also on a wired connection. Just found out that it, too, is exhibiting the same error. Although, I'd left it in 'iTunes Match' last night and the first thing I saw when I started it up was "Error: iTunes is Unavailable. Please try again later". Plugged my old Popcorn Hour in and it, at least, is working fine. -
My apple tv suddenly only shows two icons not computers and settings
I was watching Netflix all for 3 hours then went to the Apple T.V. home screen then all there was only two icons the Computer and Settings? I have restarted the Apple T.V., turned it off unplugged it and starteded it as well as restarted my internet.
Not so I'm afraid. All apps are fed via server, when connection is lost they will disappear and you will only be left with computers/settings.
Did you check location. DNS and Ethernet ?
To see a current status of the network it's best to get a report from istumbler, or similar. Look for signal strength, noise, nearby networks -

There is no storage in the Apple TV so you need to load content each time you view. However it only needs to load a small portion before it starts. If you do want to store it you can access your purchase in iTunes and stream via home-sharing.
