Is it possible to over-charge an iPad/iPhone ie charge it regularly before battery runs down as I have heard that charging too frequently damages the battery life? Thanks

No.  That is not a problem for the battery.

    hi,
i have heard that charging less than 80 percent will make the battery lasts longer, does anybody have any idea about that to help me?

I don't know where you heard that statement but it's completely incorrect.
    According to Apple:
    Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

  • HT4060 Should I let the battery run down before charging my iPad or iPhone to help the battery last longer?

Should I let the battery run down before charging my iPad or iPhone or iPod Nano to help the battery last longer?  I took a class at Verizon and they said let it drain completely and it would last longer.  Thanks

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

  • Can non-apple charger damage the battery?

    Hi,
I see a bunch of chargers on the market. Some are from reputable sources like Belkin. All these different chargers have different specifications but say they are compatible with iPhone, etc. It almost seems like if the charger has a USB plug, then it's claimed to be compatible with iPhone, etc.
However, I read here and there that Apple has a proprietary charging mechanism, which charges differently than your regular USB plug. Is that true?
It seems weird to pay $19 for a plug (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD810LL/A/apple-5w-usb-power-adapter) , especially when things like these are available:
    http://www.amazon.com/PowerGen%C2%AE-2-4-Amp-Charger-Designed-Android/dp/B0073FC PSK
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KVCLDJE?psc=1
So, am I safe buying these other products and charging my iPhone 6 with those? Is there any downside of doing this? Will this ruin or lessen the life of the iPhone battery?
I also wanted to buy this for my house:
    http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-SurgePlus-6-Outlet-Mount-Protector/dp/B00ATZJ606
, but again, I am not sure if just because they claim it's compatible with iPhone, it's not going to damage the battery because it may send too high of a current or something like that.
Any help and advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    -YC.

Can you suggest any? I see a lot of cables that are certified by Apple, but I don't see any wall chargers that are certified by Apple.
The main question I have is: does the charger matter or not or is it only the cable that matters? One charger maybe better than another, but do any of them actually have the potential to lessen the life of the battery or damage it in some other way?
    Thanks,
    -YC.

  • Does keeping a macbook pro plugged in even when fully charged damage the battery in any way?

Does keeping a macbook pro plugged in even when fully charged damage the battery?

no it will not, your battery stops charging when it reaches 100%.  you can verify this if you'd like to through system report - power.
once in a while however, it's best to use it under it's own power and charge it back up once it's down to 75% to keep the battery in optimal condition.

  • 3 amp, 2-port charger for iPad & iPhone, where are they?

Why hasn't Apple (or Griffin Technology) released a 2-port travel charger for iPad & iPhone? Is it really that hard to design a 3-amp power block? It is a royal pain having to carry 2 power blocks, and a struggle to find enough outlets to get everything charging at once.
    Thanks!

This is my preference, by Belkin, because it has all of the bases covered; surge protector with three electrical outlets and two USB outlets. You can swivel the prongs on the back 360° with 4 locking positions. I take mine everywhere I travel.

    And I see that it available on Amazon for less than half off;

My ipad 2 wont turn on, its just a blank screen. I have had it charging but it still wont turn on. It also isnt being recognised by itunes. I have updated itunes and everything. it doesnt even say its charging or connecting to itunes, its just a black screen. ive tried pressing down on the buttons but nothing happened.

    Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

Keep iPhone on wall charger for ten minutes, it may turn ON itself. If still nothing, keep on charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until the iPhone begins to respond.

  • My iphone 5 dies at 50% battery, and our 4 chargers have all stopped charging within the same week.  anybody know what could be the issue?  its like our apples are having a major meltdown! help!

Help!  My iPhone 5 has recently started to "die" at about 20 or 30% battery depending on where I am or how cold it is (i.e.it doesnt seem to die as fast with Wifi in my apartment but will drain so quickly and die at 40% battery life when i am at work.  So today, my battery died at 56% YES 56%!!! GRRRRR.  I have tried everything online articles tell you to do in order to conserve battery life.  Also, our chargers have all gone caput this past week.  I believe it is the adaptor as when the cord plugs into the computer it will charge.  WT?  All our apple products have gone berzurk this last week and I beg for an answer!!  The phone is over one year old, along with one charger.  But the other TWO chargers were purchased recently and they all stopped this week.  Any guidance or help with fixing this the most cost effective way would be much appreciated!

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
Everything that cames in the box is included in the 1year warranty, unfortunately you're just outside of that warranty.  Regardless, if the above troubleshooting does not resolve, take the device to Apple and they can determine if the issue is the device, the charger(s) or something else.

  • Laptop says 'This version of iTunes has not been correctly localised for this language. Please run the English Version'. Can anyone help please, have no idea what to do and haven't used laptop in over a year. iPad/iPhone have lost tunes from laptop too.

my laptop will not open iTunes, as it just says 'This version of iTunes has not been correctly localised for this language. Please run the English version'. I have not synconised my iPhone 5S or iPad 2 with iTunes for well over a year. I noticed the music which had previously been put into iTunes has dissappeared from my phone and iPad. I also want to remove some movies from my iPad and iPhone and there is no way I can do this without being able to manually sync with the Laptop which is running windows 7. Has anyone else come across this and please can you help? I am no expert in fact I know very little about the Laptop, it is my Husbands baby but he doesn't understand anything to do with Apple including iTunes. I will need any advise explained step by step please.

    Hi Shelady,
Try downloading and reinstalling the latest version of iTunes from the first link below. If that doesn't do it, the suggestions in the second article should resolve the installation issue.
