HT4101 Importing optimized photos only to iPad from SD card via CCK
I want to store iPad optimized photos (JPEGs?) on my iPad so I can organise and view them but don't want to store the original format files on the iPad as well & take up the extra space. I don't have easy access to a computer so I am loading the photos directly from an SD card to the iPad via CCK rather than going via iTunes. Is this how CCK works by default or do I need an extra step ( e.g. deleting original format photos from iPad) to end up with this outcome? I have the new iPad and the Lightning to SD CCK. Thanks!!!!!!
You're doing it correct. Just make sure the file name format is correct
Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

Deleting All Photos Saved On IPad From SD Card ?
I like to save photos and videos on my IPad when I'm out and about, using the camera connection kit.
I copy my pictures to my laptop separately (the IPad is just for viewing and backup) when I reach home.
At this point (photos safely stored on laptop, desktop AND backup car), I'd like to delete the photos from my IPad.
How do I do this ? I know I can delete them individually but there are far too many - I need to be able to delete "all imported".
I can't find a way to do this either on the IPad or in iPhoto or iTunes when I connect to my mac.I believe you can use the Image Capture application on your MacBook Pro to delete the photos on your iPad. Image Capture is a great program, and very useful for handling photos on the iPad. I think you can simply select the photos you want to delete and delete them straight away.

How do I import photos to my iPad from a Nikon s10?
Does the Nikon use a SD card? if so, have you tried to simply pull the photos from the card?
If not, is your camera on when you try to transfer the files?
There may also be some settings on the camera to tweak. -
i have just imported my photos on my ipad to my new mac book pro. can i now delete them from my ipad to create more space without losing them on my laptop?
Yes you can delete them. Removing them from the iPad has no effect at all on the Mac.

How do I select and email a whole lot of photos on my iPad from my iPad emails? It seems I have to go into Email and then insert one photo at a time? Isn't there a way to select all in the photos and then email the batch.?
Actually, you can email up to 5 at a time from the Photos app. Select any more and the email share option will not appear.
If you explain why you need to email large numbers of photos, we might be able to offer an alternative. -
I synced the photos to my ipad from my pc which i dont have now. How can i delete them now ?
Do you normally sync to a computer? I ended up in the same boat when I'd synced some photos on, then got a new computer and forgot to remove the photos. What I had to do was set up to sync an empty folder on my new computer, which basically erased the old photos, replaced them with the nothing that was in the new folder.

I can't import vertical photos to my iPad using the camera connection kit. Horizontal photos import fine, but verticals have a red exclamation mark, and do not import. Help!?
I have the same problem and apple needs to fix this - but in the mean time you can manually select the vertical photos then "import - import selected" and you can get your verticals. We need a better fix. THIS IS A BUG!

After I import the photos into light room from a folder, the deveop module cannot be accessed? What can I do to process those photos that are on my hard driive?
If you are using a standalone version of Lightroom, you may have updated with the CC-licensed update. That will not work. If this is your situation then it will be necessary for you to uninstall Lightroom and then install an update from a different website. Assuming that you are using Lightroom 5, this is where you need to download from:
Product updates
After you make the change you will be able to continue from where you left off. The switchover does not affect your images or your catalog. -

Photo stream hasnt imported my photos to my MBP from my iphone since june 10
Photo stream hasnt imported my photos to my MBP from my iphone since june 10. And even before that it took a day or more to import them. I wasnt sure where to post this. So I posted it twice.
Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane on your MBP
and in iPhoto's Photo Stream preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.

When I imported my photos to iphoto 11 from an external drive they were no longer chronologically organized in folders by year & month. Instead, they all went into one folder within a 2011 folder. In fact, it randomly changed the dates & years of all the files so I can't even manually organize them now.
Are you sure that iPhoto is the app for you?
iPhoto is designed to help you organise your Photos, but you seemed focussed on organising files.
The idea is simple: organise them as you want in the iPhoto Window. As I said above, as you never access the files on the HD then how iPhoto stores them is of no relevance. (It's by date of import BTW).
Where are you seeing these changed dates? In the iPhoto Window ? Somewhere else?

How can I import photos to my ipad from someone else's imac?
I have a mobile me account and can get to it with browser. I am on someone else's computer and have some pictures in their iPhoto that I want to move to my iPad. Is there some way to get them there when I do not have access to my iMac? Can I somehow move them to iDisk and synch them?
Photos can be transferred to an iPad via the iTunes sync process from a single computer only. When transferring photos from another computer via the iTunes sync process, all photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPad first.
There is a free iDisk app available for the iPad via the iTunes store. If you transfer the photos to your iDisk, you can access the photos from your iDisk with the iDisk app, but you can't sync photos with your iDisk.
There is also a free MobileMe Gallery app via the iTunes store you can use to view photos in your MobileMe Galleries. -
How do import into LR mobile photos on my iPad from an SD card?
i used an apple adaptor to import photos onto my iPad Mini from an SD card. Photos were taken with a Canon S100. The iPad recognizes thephotos but when I open LR Mobile on the iPad these photos are not to be found. LR also doesnt recognize a lot of other photos on the iPad.
WHat am I Missing?that's obviously it.Wish Adobe had told us that. I watched several tutorials and saw no mention.

When you import photos from your iMac to your ipad, do those photos disappear from the iMac??
No. Syncing albums from your computer to your iPad copies the photos to your iPad but leaves them on the computer.
