HT4505 Is it possible to save default scan parameters for Preview?

When I open Preview, the default scan parameters are stupid: text/custom size/jpeg. I want Preview to remember my usual settings and just open with those. Is that possible?
Preview 7.0
OSX 10.9.1
MacBook Pro
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB Memory

Yep, download and install Aperture 2.1.
Select an adjustment that is already showing, and click on the small "gear" menu in the upper right hand corner of the adjustment and either choose "Remove from Default Set" or "Add to Default Set", whichever you want. From each new image selection onwards that setting will dictate if the adjustment shows or not.

  • Is it possible to save separate bus settings for each patch?

Is it possible to save separate bus settings for each patch
From reading the manual I don’t think this is possible – but would be grateful for any help around this.
    2 examples:
    1. I play around with the delay settings on a bus and I then change patch for the next tune and e.g the feedback on the delay is wrong for the new track.
    2. Most of my patches are 2 layered sounds – which I have sent to a bus to put effects on – But I can’t save those effects settings on that bus on a patch by patch basis – If I change the settings on the effects on the bus all the patches are effected.
Hopefully Mainstage 3 when it emerges will address this issue – so you have the choice. Unless there is something I am missing.
    Any thoughts gratefully accepted.

  • Possible to modify default module settings for large deployments?

Is it possible to modify the default threshold and action settings for select modules, so that everything is good to go as soon as I add the node into SMC?
I am trying to find a way to easily standardize the monitoring and notification settings across the environment.

    Hi mcomdsm,
I think the easiest way to standardize your thresholds and actions settings would be to use the Manage Jobs feature, which allows you to create tasks like loading/unloading modules, adding rows to specific modules, setting up alarm thresholds and actions and apply it to a user-defined group of objects. This way, if you add a new node to Sun MC, you can run the same task already saved in managed jobs against the new node.
There is a nice example on how to use Manage Jobs here: [http://forums.halcyoninc.com/showthread.php?t=97&highlight=threshold]

  • Is it possible to save System preference settings for every user that logins to a Mac OS X?

I work at a school and we have iMacs running Mavericks 10.9 in our environment.  We have them binded to our Windows domain so that way students can use their own login to access the Macs.  I have a number of System preference settings that I would like to take a effect, but I only see that these settings take effect for every user.  So even if I login as the Main administrator account and set settings in System Preferences, such as not allowing the Wifi symbol to show, the next user that logins will still see the wifi symbol because the setting isn't taking effect for their System preferences.  Does anyone know a way to get System Preference settings to take affect for every user that logins? Maybe a script?

Modifying the user template is not supported. You can Google for people who have done it in the past. I would recommend going to official route, if possible. Here are a couple of training documents. I'm sure there is more available though more official channels.

  • Default Date Parameters for SSRS Subscription

    I have a SSRS 2008 R2 report running on a Sharepoint 2010 site.
It has two date parameters (Beginning and Ending Date).
The defaults of these dates are calculated correctly when running interactively.
    For example:
    =DateAdd("d",-28, Today)
    =DateAdd("d",-1, Today)
However, when you create a subscription the defaults are based on when the report is submitted and not when the report is executed.
Is there anyway to set a subscription to pull the default parameters every time when executed.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi miguelh,
Based on my research, if we specified the report parameters with “Use Report Default Value” is checked in the subscription, we could get the report from this subscription with the default value. The default values are based on the expression when the subscription
is executed, rather than the time when we create the subscription. If today is 7/21/2014, the Beginning Date is 6/23/2014, Ending Date is 7/20/2014.
So, please double check you have typed the expressions as the default values in the two date parameters and we have select the “Use Report Default Value” as the parameter values when creating the subscription .
If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.

  • HT2506 How to set outlook as the default mail client for Preview

When I try to us Preview to email PDFs the Apple Mail client is the default mail client that opens. I use Lion and would like to set Outlook as my default. Does anyone know how to do this? It has been suggested that you click command-P, select PDF and add Outlook there but there are no options to do this. I am stuck and would like some help. I am using outlook:mac2011 version 14.1.4 and Preview 5.5.1
    Cheers

I did not find a way to change the target application for the "New Email with Attchment" service for files and folders. However, you can follow this instruction here to create ANOTHER service, that will use Outlook: http://www.officeformachelp.com/2010/11/create-a-service-to-attach-files-to-a-ne w-outlook-for-mac-mail-message/

  • Save auto-align parameters for batch processing?

I plan to shoot timelapse with two supposedly identical camera setups and stack images from the two cameras. Unfortunately the two lenses turn out not to be quite identical, so I need to correct/map images from one camera to match the field of view of the other. A test showed that Photoshop's auto-align procedure can do the mapping sufficiently accurate. So now what I want to do is to have Photoshop calculate the mapping parameters once, then apply that projection identically to a batch of images. What I really hope to avoid is for Photoshop to recalculate the mapping separately for every single frame, both because it is a huge waste of time but also because the exact same mapping really should be applied to all images. Is there a way to do this, CS6?
    Thank you,
    Poul

Thank you Noel. At least that means I can focus my effort elsewhere. If I have to do the transforms manually I will do it in After Effects. I think that will be somewhat easier (applies to whole sequence at once), especially since I will be editing/grading the timelapse sequences in there later anyway. The Photoshop auto-align did a better job than my manual attempt in After Effects though. The two lenses are circular fisheyes so heavy distortion makes it difficult. Another possible option is PanoTools - if I can get that figured out... Thanks again for your input!

  • Configuring default web apps for virtual hosts

    Hi,
This posting is meant save time for anyone trying to specify a default web app
for each of their virtual hosts (as opposed to specifying a default web app for
each of their wl servers). This applies to weblogic 6.1, on NT. (I haven't tried
    this on other platforms).
If you are trying to use the admin console to do this, give up. It's not possible.
The "Virtual Host/Configuration" window lets you specify everything about that
vhost configuration EXCEPT a default web app. (The "Default Web Application" drop
down menu will always have only one option to choose from: "none").
Instead, shutdown your server, and edit your domain's config.xml file manually.
Attached is an example config file that specifies that the web app "kz" should
be the default web app for the vhost "wl.kz.com", and that the web app "kahuna"
should be the default web app for the vhost "www.kahuna.com".

    Hi,
Is it possible to configure default web appls for virtual hosts
with Weblogic 6.0 on NT platform? I tried to configure the configure.xml as Brian
did, it doesnot work. I am just wondering if there's any other possible way to
    do this.
    Thanks.

  • How do I change the default file format for saving files in Preview

I often take screen clips and save them as files to my desktop, then upload them to my website or include them in emails. The default file format for Preview seems to be TIFF, but I'd prefer jpg. How do I convince Preview to use jpg as the default file format?
    TIA,
    Thad

I should have been a little clearer...
If I'm emailing a screen-clip, I can just paste it right into the email, but I post on a lot of discussion boards and it's often nice to be able to include a screen shot in those. My preferred way to do that is to post the clip at my personal website and then put a link in the post. It gives me the ability to delete the image whenever I want (a plus for any security freak) and it works on every discussion board I know. Some boards allow attachments, some don't. Plus I don't want to have to remember different d/b file attachment procedures. Anyway, when I make a screen-clip, I need to temporarily save it (usually to my desktop), then ftp it to my website. I use Preview to do that. It's simple. But I'd like it to default to .jpg instead of .png or .tiff. (FWIW, I just tried it and the default was .png, but I swear I did something similar earlier that defaulted to .tiff when I first tried to save the newly-created file).

  • HT201361 Is it possible to save the screenshot files to a different folder than desktop. How can I change the folder?

Is it possible to save the screenshot files to a different folder than desktop (that is the default). How can I change the destination folder? Thank you, Sal

To change the screenshot capture location to a new place on your Mac, first think of a location that would serve you properly. We like to place ours in a "Screenshot" folder located inside of the User's "Pictures" folder. To change the location to this new location, open the Terminal and enter the following command:
    defaults write com.apple.screencapture location /Users/[u]/Pictures/Screenshots/
Replace "[u]" with the name of the user on your system. Once you have entered this command, let's restart the screen capture utility by restarting the SystemUIServer by entering the following command:
    killall SystemUIServer
You can optionally log out and back in instead of entering this second command, thus restarting the SystemUIServer. Once restarted, all screen captures taken from here on out will end up in your /Pictures/Screenshots/ folder in the User's home folder on your Mac.

  • Is it possible to save as EPS file?

I am making a logo using a couple of different fonts - no graphics. Is it possible to save as EPS file? Or, if not - is there a way to export it to another program that will save it as EPS file?

OP - here is a thought.
First, a Photoshop PDF with transparency is acceptable for InDesign. But many people want a flattened format to place in older programs such as Quark 6, or Pagewrecker.
They often use EPS. Photoshop will outline all fonts in the EPS output. Also with EPS you do not have a dual file format, so you must save a copy. These are two fundamental differences between Photoshop EPS and Photoshop PDF.
Here is another option if you need flattened output, but you still want the PSD info wrapped in a single file.
Save as Photoshop PDF, layers checked.
Select "PDF/X-1a" preset. By the standard, choose "None", When you do this "Photoshop Editing Capabilities" should default to enabled (if not, enable it)
When you save in this fashion, you are saving a flattened PDF output with vector data for other applications, but you also retain the native Photoshop file. This file can be opened for editing in Photoshop and can also be opened for evaluation in Adobe Acrobat.
Please, please be wary of Photoshop fonts. The fonts are embedded subset in the PDF, but sometimes you encounter glyph width errors when preflighting the PDF in Acrobat.
Photoshop has vector capabilities, but these capabilities are half - baked. Each and every font glyph becomes a clipping mask for pixel data. Not an ideal construct. For some RIPS, Photoshop fonts can blow up like dynamite.
I'm not trying to discourage utilizing Photoshop vector. But if possible, set your type in InDesign or Illustrator, it's safer in the long run.

  • How do you get firefox 4 to save tabs and windows and restore them? Don't say set preferences to open them on startup or use restore previous session under history; those do not work. Or is it no longer possible to save windows and tabs?

    Question
How do you get firefox 4 to save tabs and windows and restore them? Don't say set preferences to open them on startup or use restore previous session under history; those do not work. Or is it no longer possible to save windows and tabs?

'''IT'S A EASY AS IT SHOULD BE.'''
This is essentially paulbruster's answer, but I've added the steps some might assume, but which aren't so obvious to those of us who are new at this, like me.
This solution might ''appear'' to be long and complicated, but after you follow the directions once, you'll find it's quick, clean, and simple. Almost like they designed it this way.
    # If you haven't already, open a bunch of tabs on a few different subjects.
    # Click the List All Tabs button on the right side of the tab strip.
    # Select Tab Groups.
    # Create a few groups as described [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/what-are-tab-groups#w_how-do-i-create-a-tab-group here] , i.e. just drag them out of the main thumbnail group into the new groups they create.
    # Now click on any thumbnail in any new group, but not the original big default group you may have left some tabs in.
#A regular Firefox window will open, but'' only the tabs in that group will be visible.'' You also now have the Tab Groups button in the tab strip.
    # Right click on any tab, and there it is: Bookmark All Tabs. Click on it in the list of options. Or you can hit Ctrl+Shift+D instead and go straight to the dialogue box from the tab without any clicks. But don't go looking for this familiar option anywhere else, 'cause it's not there.
    # Now pick an existing folder or create a new one just like you would have before and '''shlpam!''' there they are. New folders are supposed to end up in the Unsorted category all the way at the very bottom, but for some reason mine show up at the bottom of my last sorted category.
    # DO NOT CLICK THE UPPER-RIGHTMOST X to close this group of tabs. This will close ALL of your tabs in all groups, currently visible or not. At least it asks if you're sure first. Instead, click your new Tab Groups button to return to the Boxes 'O Thumbnails window, and click the X in the group box you just bookmarked.
    # Click on another thumbnail to repeat the process with another group, or click on a thumbnail in the big default box to return to the original FF window. You can also click the Tab Groups button at the upper right, or Ctrl+Shift+E, which will also get you ''into'' the Boxes 'O Nails window ''from'' FF.
    # So now when you reopen FF after shutdown, simply select your folder from your Bookmarks and Open All in Tabs. '''Just like paulbruster said. '''
