You can upgrade direct from 10.6.8 to 10.8 Mountain Lion without going through 10.7 Lion with the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody. The Model 5,1 will probably run 10.9 Mavricks when it comes out.
10.8 Mountain Lion is a download from the App Store, the price is $19.99.
Mountain Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.

Also Mountain Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Mountain Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications. -

I have downloaded every update and my battery life is better than any previous iPhone I have ever owned. I see posts from hundreds of people every day, and this is not a commonly reported problem. While there are a few random reports of battery problems, it is no more than I have seen for any other model or any other version of iOS in almost 8 years. It's A1549 model. Yeah i knew this is US version before i buy this. What i'm confusing now do u think this iphone i bought is a brand new one and why there is a sim card already inside the simcard slot? Even its working smoothly using a network in UAE. Some of my friends bought there US version of iphone but they bought it without simcard inside the sim card slot.

ThxIf a defect in a single device causes you decide that you will no longer purchase Apple products, that is certainly within your rights to decide. But I'd suggest you allow Apple to replace your iPhone, which again will be another black model, and see if that unit fares better. Then if that replacement iPhone has the same problem with the coating flaking off, you would have justification for asking Apple to replace the black iPhone with a white one.
By the way, we are all just fellow users here, so making blanket statements about Apple's overall product quality and threatening to stop buying Apple products really is of no help to anyone.

If i buy an iphone in USA and don't buy a contract, could i use it in Denmark then and buy a contract their and still have no problems with the iPhone.
If you buy an Unlocked iPhone from the US, you can use that phone on any carrier that supports that particular phone (either GSM or CDMA). So yes, this is possible. But if anything happens to the phone that requires Apple's help, you will have to ship it back to US for that service.

What I was trying to do though was to mass delete the voice memos from the phone, and I was told that one can do that via iTunes. Problem is that when I do open iTunes, I am not able to locate a TAB thats says ON THIS IPHONE
I was told that one could click on this and then select multiple Voice Memos and delete this way.

I replaced my iPhone with a Samsung Galaxy5 and I am not receiving all of my text messages now. The rep at the store told me to go to iTunes and take my phone # off of the account and that would fix the problem. Is that true? What does iTunes have to do with text messages anyway?
You need to remove your phone number from the iMessage system.

Update: my PC USB hub was connected to a USB 3 port, I connected the 30 pin cable directly to my PC, And the restore worked just fine. Restored phone from iCloud backup and seems to be working fine. -

when you start using iCloud on any iOS device and enable find my iPhone, this prevents a new user from using it, and also prevents anyone from using the phone
as it is locked to previous owners account ,this is also the case if when a phone is lost or stolen.
the only way around this is to have the previous owner reset their apple id by going to @ applied.apple.com
if they are unable to do this, then the only other way around this is to have the previous owner get a copy of their original receipt and call apple support who can then lift this lock if they get a copy of the receipt

Had the same problem. Have you checked your Cellular Data Network MMS fields? You should write there your MMS settings (APN, username, password, mmsc, mms proxy and mms max message size). You can get the data from your carrier. After that you could need to restart iPhone. Worked for me.

Are you trying to use the phone in Bahrain with a supported carrier there? I suspect not. If you try to use this phone outside of Bahrain, you won't have FaceTime. This is done to prevent folks from simply crossing the border to purchase iPhones in Bahrain...FaceTime is banned in Saudi Arabia & the UAE. Sorry, but you'll only have FaceTime on that phone while using it in Bahrain on a supported carrier's network there.
