During a normal install of iOS 7.0.6 this does not happen but something clearly went wrong in your installation.
To fix this, connect to iTunes and restore to Factory. Hopefully your iPad will be working again and you can restore your iCloud backup during Setup.

If you are using XP, and you went through the procedure at the bottom of the previously linked document to change the iPod's assigned drive letter, and you also tried putting it into Disk Mode...
If you have not already, try shutting down your computer and disconnecting all USB devices, including hub. Start up with only standard keyboard and mouse connected. Just to be safe, put the iPod into Disk Mode again

ok, so i finally found my ipod. I pick it up and it asks me if i would like to download the latest ios6 software so i did. Then moments later it died, ran out of battery. So i pluged it into my computer via apple usb cord. Then this is what itunes says "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes". All i want is to get my notes from the utilites section there so important to
If i restore it will my notes still be there, i dont want to restore original settings or something like that .
please help me what do i do?You have to restore the iPod, no ifs, ands, or buts...
After iOS is installed you will be asked if you what to set it up as a new iPod or if you want to restore from a backup.
If you have a good backup you can restore that and you're good to go.
If you don't have a good backup, then you end up with a "clean" iPod.... -
iTunes gives me the message that it has detected an iPod in recovery mode and that I need to restore the factory settings. When I click the "restore" button iTunes downloads the software. This is a 30 minute process. Once the download completes, I get the same message "iTunes detects an iPod in recovery mode....". I'm running Windows Vista and ZoneAlarm security software.
I've tried this restore function multiple times and still get the same results.
I've also tried resetting the iPod by holding the wake/sleep button and the Home button at the same time. The iPod turns on but shows the icons of a usb cable connecting to iTunes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This maybe yuor problem:

I got the error message above when connecting my old 1st generation ipod to my new PC. My Mac laptop was stolen in a break in at my home, and I no longer have my music files stored anywhere else but this ipod. i don't want to restore it if this process will wipe all my music away. This might be a dumb question, but I am not very savvy with technology. how should i proceed?
If you proceed you will lose all of your music. You weren't using Time Machine on your laptop?

I'm having the same loop message appear when trying to sync my new Ipod Shuffle "Itunes has detected a device in recovery mode. You must restore this device before it can be used w/ Itunes".
I've restored several times but it keeps looping back to the same message. Turns out this message appeared with my last shuffle and I thought possibly the shuffle battery was depleted and it was time to get a new one.
any suggestions? If you restore from backup.
You should have made sure that everything was on your computer bef ore updating anyway. Did you fail to do that?

ITunes Keeps on saying"Itunes has detected an IPOD in recovery mode."
I keep on getting the msg"Itunes has detected an IPOD in recovery mode.U must restore that IPOD b4 it can b used with ITunes." Ive restored the ipod. Screen goes blank, comes back on and same msg appears on itunes again. Also resetted the ipod, but still get the same message ova & ova again. Help!!!!
Try changing the iPod's drive letter in Windows:
Start | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Computer Management
then click Disk Management and change the iPod drive letter to something else that's not being used by another device (preferably above the letter 'G').
Note that this problem is not Vista-related and can also occur on XP.
Hope that helped. -

Let me preface this question by saying that I'm in the middle of an upgrade from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.1.6 - it may be part of the cause of this error but there seems to be no reason as to why it would be. On to the question: I have a procedure that tests
