Tring to update from Itunes iphone 4 and not seeing anything resembling the above. Only references to iphone 4s or 5..Don't see the summary pane at all...Help
Make sure you have the latest iTunes (11.1.5)
Connect the phone to your computer
The iPhone's name will appear in iTunes. If you don't see it go to the View menu and check "Show Sidebar"
Click on the iPhone's name
The Summary pane will appear as if by magic -
I recently fixed my computer and need to reinstall logic pro 9 but I can't find the booklet with my serial number, is there any other way I can get the serial number for logic pro 9 (box)?
If you still have the receipt or other proof of purchase, you can ask Apple to send you the serial. Otherwise, bad luck mate.. Good news is, you can now buy Logic Pro 9 from App Store for just 199 USD

let me know what is to be done
Restart everything and try again. Restart the iPad, quit iTunes, restart your computer....
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. -

i cant update my iphone and i tried going on my pc on itunes and clicking check for update button but it says that "itunes could not contact the iphone software update server because you are not connected to the internet". But i checked my internet on both my pc and iphone and tried again but it still says the same thing. plzz plzz help
Were you definitely connected to the internet at the time? If you don't have iOS 5 on your iPhone then the only way to update it would be via iTunes, once updated to the latest version of iOS you'll be able to update your iPhone without connecting to iTunes "over-the-air".
Before updating however it goes without saying to Backup your iPhone, this should happen by default upon connecting your iPhone to iTunes.

This device does not have a sim card in it. Could this be the reason or am I missing something when I am trying to update.
Yes. You can't update or restore any GSM iPhone without a valid sim card installed in the phone. The sim card need not be activated, but it must be valid & present. If you want to update, you need to get a sim card. -

I am unable to get past the first step of Winston Churchill's answer because my phone says "checking for a software update failed because you are not connected to the Internet." Did my iphone's WiFi connection also get lost with the Contacts, Mail and Text Messages? When I tried the software update, as recommended by Winston Churchill, the iphone was connected to my desktop which is connected to the Internet.
You can't use your computers Internet connection to update your phone from the phone itself. If you want to use the computers Internet connection to update your phone you must update it through iTunes.

I have an IPAD 2 ios verison 4.3.3. I am trying to update my ios to current version. I dont get the option from Settings>General for a software update. How do i complete process?
If you are using iOS 4 (or earlier) there is no Software Update in Settings. That feature was first added in iOS 5.
To update you will have to connect your iPad to iTunes on a computer (preferably the one you sync with and backup to).
