HT4623 iPhone 4S Update

I  have an iPhone 4S that's about 8 months old. I have the message on the system icon that an update is available but when I try to update it, it says that 5.1.1 is the latest update. My new iPad updated without a hitch. Is my phone eligable?

Apple dropped the YouTunb app with iOS 6.  As you may have heard, Apple and Google are competing a bit, and YouTube is owned by Google.
You can indeed download the (free) YouTube app from the App Store.

  • HT4623 iPhone IOS update

My iPhone settings icon is notifying me of an IOS 7.1 update.  I have tried multiple time to download and install the update.  Each time the process shows almost finished then notifies me that it cannot be completed without further direction.  I have as a minimum 11 GB available, so I'm not sure what the issue is.  Help please.

    Hey patsy643,
Thanks for the question. If you are having issues updating Over The Air (OTA), you can always attempt to update with iTunes:
Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4623
Make sure your device has enough available space to install the update. Use iTunes to update if you don't have enough space, or remove content from your device. Tap Settings > General > Usage to see how much space your content uses.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • HT4623 iPhone latest update creates issue for my iPhone 4

After updating my iPhone 4 with the latest update software, I had been experiencing lagging, hang during phone calls, hang before picking up calls (which leads to unanswered calls), total hang in software that makes even hard restart difficult. What's happening?

Another option is to perform the update via iTunes instead.  You need the space to download the update and if you don't have the space, you can't update over the air.
If you connect your phone to your computer, you can back it up (manually) onto the computer with iTunes then perform the update and it should all come back fine.  I've found that sometimes it's even faster doing it that way.

  • HT4623 Iphone software update caused wifi to stop working

When I updated my iphone 4s several weeks ago, it caused my wifi button to gray out and become non-functional.  Several apps also stopped working.  Can this be fixed?

Not likely, But try, Settings App > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. See if better. If not, restore iPhone Firmware with iTunes 10.7 or 11 on computer. See if better. If not, and there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution.

  • HT4623 iphone 3gs update

I have a iphone 3gs and i am unable to update it over the air because i am not getting software update option in general menu and when i download it via itunes it stops in between and says that an error has occured. please help

    That's because you have a 3G, NOT a 3GS.
4.2.1 is the end of the line for that old bird.

  • HT4623 Iphone 4 update ruined phone

I put the 6.0 update I beleive on my Iphone 4 and there was some kind of error and the phone only says to connect to Itunes via usb and the computer cannot detect the phone. I took it in the the genius said I needed to pay $150 for a new phone. There must a be a reset they or I can do.

I've had a similar problem. My Verizon iPhone 4 was already updated with iOS 6, and tonight I plugged it in to the USB in my laptop (not over wireless) to update to 6.0.1 and right as it finished I received the notification that I needed to connect to iTunes. As I had just backed up my information, I decided to just restore the phone as that was my only possible action at this point, and restore from the backup. After the recovery process, iTunes informed me that "Your request couldn't be processed. We're sorry, but there was an error processing your request. Please try again later." When I tried to activate wirelessly I was met with this response "Could Not Activate iPhone, Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes. If the problem persists, contact Apple Support at apple.com/support" I tried restoring about 8 times but now I'm just letting it sit to hopefully try again later.

  • HT4623 iphone 5 update failed

An update today failed on my iPhone 5 this evening and now the phone is completely frozen up.
The screen is showing the itunes logo and the USB cord.
Despite being conected to my laptop the phone no longer shows on my itunes screen.
Not even a hard reset has cleared the problem The hard reset did not show the red close swipe bar just restarted the phone.
    Any ideas?

A actual full restore is done via iTunes not your phone. Going through the settings just wipes the data off where as in iTunes, restoring is wiping the data and software. To get your phone back functioning you will need to restore through iTunes and the steps in the article I posted above will allow you to do the restore if you are already not prompted to do when connecting your iPhone to the computer.

but i can't installing in istore applications, what solve this problem ?
You can use a tool help find compatible apps in the iTunes store such as these: (The first one is my recommendation).
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
    Vintapps 3.1.3 - paid app.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.

  • HT4623 Can I update 3 iPhones with the latest software update that are all on thr same iTunes account?

I kept all my iPhones after I upgrading to the latest one each time my 2 year contract was up so I have an iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 & iPhone 4S. I actually still use all 3 phones for different purposes. My iphone 3gs is not activated, but I still use it for apps among other things when connected to wifi. My iphone 4 & 4s are both activated with 2 saparete phone numbers, but I have all 3 devices on the same iTunes account. I never noticed this to be a problem until just recently when I was thinking about selling one of my iphones since I'm now due to upgrade again to the iPhone 5.  Well my problem is that when the latest iphone software update came available I noticed that all 3 iPhones had a notification letting me know that there was a new update available & I didn't want to update my iphone 4 & 4S until I had a recent back-up on my pc just incase anything went wrong like once before. Referring to the last time I updated my iphone 4s for some reason right in the middle of the update it lost connection. So I had to restore my entire phone from scratch & because I didn't check to make sure that had a recent back up right before I updated I ended up losing a lot of important information. So anyway since my iphone 3GS I knew had a recent back up & plus it doesn't have a lot of important information stored on it I chose to go ahead & update it first. Then later on when I went to update my other two iPhones I noticed the notification that was there before on all my phones to let me know the update was available was now gone & it would not give me the option to update either of my other two phones. I don't know if this is true or not, but I was later told that Apple will only let you download the free update software on only one device on each iTunes account & since I have all 3 devices on one itunes account I could only choose to update one. I didn't know this beforehand so I used the update on my 3GS which I barely use except to play with on wifi & now my other two iPhones which are the main ones I use are both activated now function very slow & constantly crash. Also if I was to choose to sale one of the iPhones without the latest software update on it does that mean that the new owner will not be able to get the latest update meaning the phone would be out of date without having that latest software installed? If anyone knows how to help me fix this or give some advice I would really appreciate!!

    That's utter non-sense.
Just connect your 4 & 4S, iTunes running, & hit the "Check for Updates" button, or you can update directly on the phones(if running iOS 5.0 or higher): Settings>General>Software Update.
iOS 6.1.3 is the current iOS version for both phones.
