What version do you have (Settings > General > About > Version) ? If you are on iOS 5+ then you should have a Settings > General > Software Update option for direct update, if you have iOS 4 then you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes (which needs to be failry up-to-date).
To update via your computer, connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

A first gen iPad should update to iOS 5.1.1 and an iPad 2 and 3 to 6.0.1 (which is the only version that is 'signed' by Apple) - with iOS 6 will lose the built-in YouTube app and the Maps app will change.

Your best bet at this point then is to contact iTunes Support and get them to straighten this out for you:

Select the options that best apply to your issue. You will have a chance to provide a written description before you submit. iTunes Support will get back to you via email, usually within 24 hours. Be sure to check your Junk/Spam email folder if you don't hear back by then.
They should be able to sort it out for you...

The Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, and I think that the sam applies to Usage. If your iPad is on iOS 4 (Settings > General > About > Version) then you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes.

If a reset doesn't work, try and force iPad into Recovery Mode:
1. Turn off iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, slide to turn off.
2. Connect USB cable to computer
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune (make sure you have the newest version of iTune)
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad -
I can no longer use my iPad 3 since downloading IOS 7. I can't access the internet, the app store, or itunes. Can't download anything or receive or send emails. Not happy. My iPad is basically useless. Tried to erase and restore. can't even do that. whish I had waited.

H.MThe iPad 1 can't run the newer operating systems. It'd be like trying to play a bluray disc in your 6 year old dvd player....it simply lacks the hardware to make the software run.
No suggestion about the camera, but given that Apple's attitude seems to be to focus more on the more mobile devices for photography (the iPhone and Touch cameras got features, the iPad and mini didn't), that is highly unlikely. You can tell Apple what you want, but you'd probably be money ahead to get a digital camera.
as to the photos, anything put on via iTunes has to come off via iTunes.Your main alternative would be to look for photo apps that offer file exchange that may give you more functionality. -

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you did a good job editing your Apple ID and primary email address, but you didn’t sign out of iCloud on your iOS device before hand. What you may need to do in this situation is go back to the Apple ID website and edit your Apple ID and primary email address back to the email address that is signed in with iCloud (there is no need to verify the account after editing it back to the old account, just changing it back is enough). Once your Apple ID is back to the original account, delete the iCloud account from the iOS device and be sure to keep all info on the device when prompted. After you delete the iCloud account, go back to the website and edit your Apple ID and primary email address back to the new address. Once it is back to the account you would like, you can sign into the iCloud on the iOS device with that new account and merge all of the data when prompted.
