HT4623 Will all the contents in my Iphone erased if i'm updating it from iOS 6.0.1 to iOS 6.0.2?
Greetings,
Hello. I'm currently using Iphone5 with an iOS 6.0.1. Now, I'm trying to update it to iOS 6.0.2. So, will all my contents be erased if I do so? Or they'll just stay?
No. I would however do a backup before upgrading "just in case".

I have an iPhone 4 (IOS 4.3.1) and it was synced and backed up today.
I wanted to upgrade to the latest ios on iTunes (today's date is 3rd Jan 2013), it seemed to download ok (it took about 30 minutes or so), but when it tried to update onto the iPhone (I think this was what it was doing!) I got an error message that had code 3014 in it. Nowhere on Apple's website can I find a way to resolve this error code.
I then thought I would just try again from the beginning, but I then got an error message saying that if I continued I would lose all the contents on my iPhone so I cancelled it as I don't want to lose everything on my phone.
Can anyone help me as I am not very good at technical things and I really want to upgrade the ios on my iPhone without losing all the data I have on there already. An idiots guide would be great.
Thanks.Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network. -

i have an ipad an a iphone im selling my ipad and wanna erase all the content but was wondering if i erase everything will it take that stuff ofmy phone to? i dont want to loss my photos
Be sure your photos and any other important data/media/pictures
are backed up - iCloud, DropBox, some service of your choice.
If your only copy is on the iPhone and the iPhone is lost/stolen/broken,
you lose your photos, etc. -
I have received a software update notification. Currently I am having an iPhone 4 with IOS 5.1.1 installed. It works fin but at some point after i attend some call it gets blank, then i need to lock the screen & unlock it to get the home page. In case I upgrade my phone to IOS 6 will all the features work on my iPhone4? If it doesn't then how can i degrade the software to the older version?
Please I need help. No, you will not have 3D maps nor Siri nor Panorama.
You will lose Google Maps and YouTube, but there is a YouTube app in the App Store. Supposedly Google is readying a Google Maps app.
Downgrading can be problematic and is not supported by Apple. Do not upgrade if you have a problem with any of the items I listed. -
I need to be enlighten on this. Please help.
Hi, thanks a lot for the feedback.
What I'm worried about was that I didn't logged out All apps accounts, including fb, twitter, instagram etc., as well as my apple ID account. I was in a hurry erasing all the contents so I thought that it would be a shorter procedures if I use what in the Settings. I was in a hurry to dispose of my Apple 4S.
I just hope the new owner of my 4S will not be able to use all the accounts with personal info -

Anyway try this

3.Open iPhone Summary
4.Go to Apps Tab
5.Under File Sharing Section Click on Music Downloader
6.Right side if you see your songs click on one song and press (CTRL + A).(hope you are using windows) and click on save and then save to a folder on your computer.
7. Later just do steps till 5 to put to new iPhone then ...........
8.Click on save and select the music files which u want to put in that app.
9.Click on apply to sync.
10.You should be having the music in that app

I want to back up an Iphone 3G and put all the content into Iphone 4. After I have backed up the Ipone 3G and then when Iphone 4 is connected to Itunes I do not get an Option to restore back up from Iphone 3G. The only devive is see in the drop down list is my Iphone 4. The IOS on Iphone 3G is 4.2.1 and on Iphone 4 is 4.1.
Please share if anyone has any solution to such a problem. You will first have to update your iPhone 4 in order to restore it from the backup of your 3G. Follow the directions here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4972
This is an erase/restore deal, so make sure all of your data is on your computer before you begin. iOS 6.1.2 will be installed on your iPhone 4.
Once done, on your iPhone 4: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. You'll now be able to restore your 3G backup to your iPhone 4. -
I got a Mac and i downloaded new music on it and im trying to sync the music on this computer to my iPhone which is hooked up to another iTunes and iTunes is saying " An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes Library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library" does this mean that it will also erase my photos or just my music and videos ?? if it does is there another way to sync with out all my contents being deleted??
You can only sync one iTunes Library from Mac to iPhone.
And just so are you aware, Apple ID accounts cannot be merged, thus merging content > Frequently asked questions about Apple ID -
Hi. My ex girlfriend used her apple id and icloud to register my iphone. and now i want to sell my phone to someone but i cant reset all the contents and password because i dont know my ex password. we dont have anymore communication right now. please help. thnx
No one here can help you, nor can/will Apple. Unless you can get that info, you won't be able to restore the phone, to sell it, or re-activate it.
You need to somehow get back in touch with your girlfriend & obtain this info, or all you'll own is a paperweight. -
I have been sharing an itunes acct with my wife. If I setup my own acct, will the content of my iphone be on the new acct after I sync?
Sure.
See here for Creating Her Apple ID > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5622
It should be Noted that anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID

I used to share an Itunes account but I recently made my own through my phone. I have all my stuff from my phone backed up on the computer on my old Apple ID/Itunes account. I want to back up all my current content on my phone to my NEW Apple ID/Itunes account but I'm afraid things will erase if I try to do so. How can I do this and still keep all the content on my phone currently?
You can't back up iTunes store content to a different account on your oomputer.

My laptop was stolen and I need to be able to connect my iPhone4 to the new laptop and transfer content (photos, mp3's, apps etc.) to the new laptop. I'm afraid to try a sync in case it deletes all the content off the iPhone. Any suggestions?
You should be importing all pics taken with the iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.

If I have to format an external hard drive to make it Mac compatible, will it delete all the content in the external hard drive?
As others have said, the answer to your question is a big YES. Formatting a drive will delete everything!
To keep your data, yet reformat the drive for optimal Mac compatibility, you will need to:
1) copy your files to a different hard drive (I would recommend two different locations if you value your data)
2) repartition/format the external drive
3) then copy the files back to the external.
You haven't given details but if you need the external to ONLY be compatible with the Mac (and no longer care if if can be read by Windows), then you will want to partition the drive using the GUID partition scheme, and format as the (HFS+) "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" filesystem. You can do so using the built-in "Disk Utility" application on your Mac (in the Applications/Utilities directory). Here are instructions:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ph5845
If you need the drive to be compatible with both Mac and Windows computers then please post that so someone can recommend a solution for your specific needs. -
How do I update my iPad to ios5 I am getting an error mesage -402653081 while backing up the iPad, if I proceed then I will loose all the content of the iPad?
The IOS5 upgrade will erase everything on your iPad, so make sure you have a good backup before you start.
If not, you will just have to reenter all of your settings all over again. Have you ever backed it up successfully?
