Got a new iMac 27" for Christmas (well a little after) and tried using Migration Assistant to transfer some files. I can't get past a window on the PC that pops up indicating Quit Other Programs Before you can transfer your information, the following programs must be shutdown: Windows Mail Close these programs and run Migration Assistant again. If these programs do not appear to be running, restart your computer and try again.
I've rebooted. I've searched Task Manager - Applications, Processes and Services and there are no references to WMail. I don't or haven't knowingly used Windows Mail and Outlook isn't even installed on my PC. Does anybody know how to get around this without using external drives, USB flashdrives, etc.

Lots of fun.... The superdrive in my Macbook seems to have gone off kilter since my install. Now the CD-R won't work regardless of which operating system I use. Normal CD's and DVD's are fine, but any CD-R is taken as a blank disk.
Using an external CD drive solved this problem.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.<br />
You can try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

You need to reset the password for the "old" account, and then use that to turn off iCloud. Then you will be able to sign in with your new ID.
You can reset your password at iForgot.apple.com.
If you don't know the answers to the security questions, you will need to start there.

Others couldn't open them so I sent them to myself and get the same message. Doesn't seem to be a size issue as I've tried with really short clips (4 seconds). As I recall, I didn't have this problem before buying Aperture last fall, when I only had iPhoto. It appears that by default, an attachment to an email automatically comes from my iPhoto files and not Aperture - assume that is supposed to happen but not sure. Thanks for any and all help!

How are you tryin to send the .AVI file? Are you sending the attachment directly from Mail or from Aperture or iPhoto?

It's a POP account. I decided to clean up my mailbox today after noticing the computer was real slow after USA Today started sending their daily top stories with new graphics. I guess, I really don't understand iCloud and how files are stored and where. I gather when I was asked to set it up I should have declined. Anyway, it looks like some of my files are stored in the cloud. If I shut off "documents" in the preferences it will remove those docs from my macbook, but they will remain in the cloud and I could get access to them for another computer if I set it up.
I also gather to avoid this, I have to, on a file by file basis, save them to my mac and then they will be on my mac. What I don't get, is that these files must exist on my mac because I can edit it without being connected to the internet. Maybe those files I see when disconnected from the internet are on my mac and I wouldn't be able to see cloud files unless I was connected to the internet.
My concern is that when I deselect "documents" in the iCloud preferences it warns me that those documents on my mac will be removed from my mac. I am afraid to deselect "documents' or "calendars" as a result.
If I seem confused, I am. Please don't feel obligated to reply if my message is too muddled.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
