HT4859 How do I keep one Apple ID account for the family, yet have different iCloud accounts for calendar, email, etc.??

How do I keep one Apple ID account for the family, yet have different iCloud accounts for calendar, email, etc.??

First decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account.  On the others, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On iPhone.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Once all your devices have their on iCloud accounts, to un-merge the data you will have to go to icloud.com on your computer, sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting your son's contacts from your account, and vice versa).
You should also use separate Apple IDs for services such as iMessage and FaceTime.  Otherwise, you're likely to end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.  If you need to change these, for iMessage go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a separate ID (such as the one just created for iCloud).  For FaceTime, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.

we have one iPhone3gs w the lates ios6. have selected iCloud backup for photos but do not see any photos when I log on to iCloud. How can I get all my photos from the iPhone3GS to iCloud?

You can't see inside a backup file on icloud, thus you can't view your photos at icloud.com.

  • HT1386 How do we keep one phone contacts seperate from the other when syncing with itunes

How do you keep one phones contacts, calendar, etc from another phone when syncing with itunes?

    Disable auto-syncing. Here’s how:
    1. Before you plug the iPhone or iPod into the computer, go to iTunes.
    2. On a Mac, go to the iTunes menu -> Preferences -> Devices.
On a PC, go to Edit -> Settings -> Devices
    3. In the pop up window, look for the icon or tab that says Devices. Choose it.
    4. Just below the box, you’ll see a checkbox reading "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically."
    5. Check it and click OK at the bottom of the window.
Now when you plug the phone in it won't automatically star syncing.

  • HT204053 My wife and me are using the same apple id on our ipads, can we have separate icloud accounts?

I want to know if you can have a separate icloud account on your ipad, the account is in my wife's apple id, i want a separate icloud account on my ipad.

If you are talking about Game Center, she can migrate to a different iCloud account and keep her Game Center ID the same (it doesn't need to be the same as her iCloud ID.
To migrate her iPad to a separate iCloud account, start by saving any photo stream photos she wants to keep to her camera roll (unless already there) by opening her my photo stream album, tapping Select (Edit in iOS 6), tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward pointing arrow (Share in iOS 6), then tap Save to Camera Roll.  If she is syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to her so she can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in her new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; this won't effect your iPad), choose Keep on My iPad and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone (if using iOS 7).  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create her new account and choose Merge to upload her data to the new account.
Once she is on a separate account, you can each go to icloud.com from your computer and delete the other person's data from your account.
To avoid getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls, make sure you are not sharing the same Apple ID for these services.  If you are, on her iPad go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a separate ID (such as her new iCloud ID).

  • If I delete an email from my phone, it also deletes off of husbands- how do I stop this? We have different iCloud's, just same emails for business reasons.

We each have an iPhone 4. We each have our own iCloud accounts. We share many email accounts due to having several self-owned businesses. When I erase an email I don't need, it erases off of his phone. They are often emails he needs. I don't understand why this is happening- never been an issue before.

We never had this problem before, have had the same email accounts loaded on each iPhone for years. Now all of a sudden it's an issue. I'm disliking the new operating system more every day. First it was the maps, now this. So is there no solution? We each have our own clouds, so why are the emails disappearing? It's not like we are deleting from the actual sites. This is very frustrating, & we have limited technical background/experience but I am able to figure most things out.
I should be able to delete an email, which is downloaded to my phone, without it deleting off of his. And visa versa. Because if I go to yahoo.com or gmail from my laptop, they are still on the main sites. How do I "unlink"? I don't even see how they are doing this?! The settings do not indicate there is sharing between the devices. :(

  • How do I keep one Apple ID on my iPhone 4?

I keep having two Apple ID's come up on my iPhone 4.  The one I've used for years with iTunes purchases and the new one I just setup for my iPhone when.  I prefer to use the new one.  How do I sign out of everything since when I try to download apps it still attempts to use the old Apple ID?  I have sign out of the Apple ID and logged back in.  Any other ideas?

Settings>Store...tap the ID shown...sign out...now sign back in with your new ID. However, your problem is most likely related to the fact that all apps are forever tied to the ID used to originally obtain them. What that means is that any apps, on your phone, obtained with your old ID, can only be updated using that ID.

  • HT5621 How do I keep one Apple ID on iPhone and iPad and change Apple ID on my daughters iPod and iPad that currently share same apple id

How do I change Apple ID on iPod 5 and iPad mini while keeping the same ID on iPad and iPhone.  I only want to change ID on 2 devices. Currently they share same ID. Thanks

You can start a new Apple ID, just understand all purchases made under an Apple ID are forever associated with that ID and can't be switched to a new one.
The requirements of an Apple ID is that it be from a valid email account.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2204
Since many apps are free, they can be repurchased free with a new Apple ID.
If you purchased valuable apps under your ID, get a new one for your daughter.   Or visa versa.
You can continue to keep them in one computer library which will allow you to sync them to all devices.
Updates will require the Apple ID and password from the purchasing Apple ID.

  • How do I share music from different itunes accounts in the same Mac, in different users account on that Mac with different iPhones?

    Hi
My wife and I share the same Mac.
She has her session and I have mine thus each of us has our iTunes session with our own music and settings.
She has her iTunes account and I have mine too.
And..;)...she has her Iphone and of course I also have mine.
    So, the big question:
Both like music that the other has bought but we do not want to buy it twice! (through her account and mine).
Is there a way to share music I purchase so she can have it in her iTunes session and therefore have it also on her iPhone when she syncs..and of course viceversa for me too?
It goes without saying that although we like music the other one has, we do not like all of the music, so basically we want to have the possibility to share those special songs we like so we can have them both in our phones and individual Itunes sessions.
Was that clear or I lost you???
Any answer will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

First of all if you havent done it yet i think u shold authorize the mac on both accounts on itunes. You also can switch the accounts on your Iphones at itunes while you are in the internet adn download the music.
This is just an idea you should think of. For sure there are other ways I dont know.

  • HT204053 can I have multiple icloud accounts for one apple id?

I have multiple people in my family using our original apple id .  As they have gotten iphones, macbooks, etc they register there devices under our originale apple id.  over the holidays when my youngest child got her ipod touch and registered it for icloud, two of the children now are seeing each others texts?  Is there a way to use the same apple id for the family and have seperate icloud accounts for each person or should we have a seperate apple id for each person?

Yes but the issue with receiving each other's text messages is not being caused by sharing the same iCloud account.  To fix this, each person needs to be using a separate Apple ID for iMessage on their devices.  (Note: you can continue to use the same iTunes account on all your devices but each person should use a different ID for iCloud, iMessage and FaceTime).  There are a couple of things you need to do to sort all this out.
First decide who will be keeping the current ID for all services.  On the device(s) belonging to the other people in your family, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the Apple ID, sign out, then sign back in with a saparate ID for each person.  After doing so you will no longer be getting each other's messages on your devices.
Next, to avoid getting each other's FaceTime calls, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.
For iCloud, to avoid having merged data by syncing with the same iCloud account you will need to migrate each person to their own iCloud account.  To do this, first decide who will be keeping the current account.  On the other devices go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from the device, not from iCloud.  The device(s) that will be keeping the current account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My [iDevice].  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID on the device(s) belonging to each person.  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to un-merge the data in your iCloud accounts you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting the other person's contacts from your account, and vice versa).

  • I have 2 mac book pro. can i have 2 iCloud accounts to keep them separate?

I have two Mac Books. One personal and one for work. Can I have two icloud accounts to keep them separate?

Of course. You can use different iCloud accounts on those Macs, so you can have your information separated.
You just need to have two Apple IDs. You may want to use different Apple IDs in both Macs for the Mac App Store too, if you want to have different apps

    Thanks
You can't merge iCloud accounts, but you can use your device to migrate data from one account to the other.  To do this, sign into the account that you want to abandon and turn on your iCloud sync settings.  If you want to save any photo stream photos from the account, do that first by saving them to your camera roll.  If you are syncing notes with this account you'll also have to open each one and email it to yourself so you can use them later to copy and paste the text into new notes created in the other account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, choose Keep on My iDevice, and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone (if running iOS 7).  Finally, sign into the account your are keeping and choose Merge to upload the data on your device (from the other account) to the new account and merge it with the data already there.  You cannot move the iCloud email account from the other iCloud account so you will have to leave that behind.

  • How do I manage one Apple ID and two iPhones with iCloud

I recently updated my Apple ID and have two phone using iCloud (mine and my daughter's).  How do we manage our contacts so we both do not have (or delete) each other's contacts?  Thank you!

You have two choices.  The first is to not sync contacts with iCloud on one of the phones.  To do this, on the phone you want to stop syncing with go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts off and choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted.
The second (preferred) option is to migrate one of the phones to a separate iCloud account.  To do this, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud), provide the password to turn off Find My iDevice and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.  You can then go to iCloud.com and delete each other's data from your accounts.  Note: you can continue to share the same ID for iTunes and other services; the ID you use for these does not have to be the same as the ID you use for iCloud.

  • Is it possible to have your whole family on one apple id or is it better to have each person have there own? If each has their own does each id have to buy their own music and apps? How does find my iphone work with one apple id or two?

Is it possible to have your whole family on one apple id or is it better to have each person have there own? If each has their own does each id have to buy their own music and apps? How does find my iphone work with one apple id or two? also I am going to be going off to college soon should I make an itunes id for my self and how will I get all the music from the old id?

Is it possible to have your whole family on one apple id or is it better to have each person have there own?
Yes, it is possible. 1 apple ID can be associated with up to 10 devices.
If each has their own does each id have to buy their own music and apps?
    Yes, all purchases are non-transferable.
How does find my iphone work with one apple id or two?
Every device associated with one apple ID through Find my iPhone is tied to that Apple ID; Find my iPhone will work in the same way with up to ten devices associated with one apple ID. You cannot enable Find my iPhone for one device across two apple IDs
I am going to be going off to college soon should I make an itunes id for my self and how will I get all the music from the old id?
If you have authorized a computer with the old apple ID, you can transfer old media purchased through the old to other devices via iTunes. This doesn't mean the media purchases through the old apple ID it transferred to the new account. If you plan to make future purchases and don't wish to share them with others, make your own apple ID.

  • HT204053 I have three IOS devices and would like to have separate iCloud IDs for each device, but I would to keep one Apple ID for iTunes that share with my spouse for purchasing.  Please help

How do I create separate iCloud id for three of my IOS devices?
    1.  Iphone
    2.  Ipad
    3.  Macbook air

If she doesn't have an iCloud account on her iPhone or iPad now, you can just go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with a different Apple ID to set up the new account, then turn on the data that you want to sync with iCloud.  She can continue to use the same ID for the App and iTunes store; it doesn't need to be the same as the the ID she uses for iCloud.
If she is already sharing your iCloud account on her devices, you should go to Settings>iCloud on her phone, tap Delete Account (which only deletes the account from her phone, not from iCloud), when prompted choose Keep on My iPhone, then set up a new account by signing back in with a different Apple ID.  Then turn on the data she wants to sync with iCloud, and when prompted, choose Merge to upload her data to the new account.  After doing this on her phone, go to Settings>iCloud on her iPad, tap Delete Account, when prompted choose Delete from my iPad, then sign into the new account just created on her phone using the new ID and turn on her data syncing to sync the iCloud data in the new account to her iPad.  Finally, if you have any merged data in your accounts from sharing the original account, you'll need to go to icloud.com on your computer, sign into each iCloud account separately and delete the data you don't want from each account.
