HT4864 What is up with iCloud? - cannot get email. Cannot get onto icloud.

Apple Support seem oblivious to this. Anyone else encountering and iCloud issue this am?

Thanks -- I haven't gotten through to Optimum yet, but I suspect this issue is on their end. I've taken the following diagnostic measures, all with no success:
1) Reset modem and router
2) Plug computer directly into the modem, bypassing the router
3) Edit the /etc/hosts to force imap.mail.me.com to a server I know works from connecting to it on Time Warner Cable
I can confirm the iCloud services work just fine when I'm on 3G (turn WiFi off on your iPhone or iPad; or tether your mac to your iPhone).
Hopefully this gets resolved quickly - though I'm sure at this point Optimum is still likely to point the finger at Apple, who will (rightfully) point it right back at Optimum.

    It's a scam - ignore it. Apple probably know about it but you could forward it as an attachment to [email protected] to make sure.

    Same issue...... can't determine what username and password are ?
    But, went thru process @ apple.com/support and changed port to 25.  :::::
    "Relaying denied" or "Email address rejected by the server" when you try to send email
    This error indicates that either an email address is incorrect or your settings aren't correct for your current connection. Make sure the email address is correct for messages in the Outbox or try a different port:
    If you're on a Wi-Fi network connected to the same network as your email domain, such as your Cable or DSL provider, try port 25:
    Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Tap your email account, then tap Account.
    Scroll down and tap Outgoing Mail Server.
    Tap Primary Server, then tap Server Port.
    Delete the current port and enter 25.
    Tap Done.
    Now my iPhone5s is frozen in the "verifying" mode.  I can not stop it???????????????

    I've been working on a Keynote Presentation for some time now.
    Once I added the iCloud.
    The system kep going into Storage Mode every 3-4 click on the keyboard or mouse.
    So I decided to shut the iCloud down from my computer.
    Oh Yeah... Here's the FUN Part.
    The system stated 'IF I did..... Everything loaded into theiCloud would be removed from my computer
    (MacBook Pro).
    So soon after (I obviously didn't disconnect the iCloud, can't afford to losse 'who knows what')
    So soon after I went into my iPhone to turn it off as well...
    There I received the message/question "Do you want items left on your iPhone?"
    Huh!     I didn't even receive that option on the Mac.

    We just received our first Apple Store 2 months ago.
    During their third week of operation, I mistakenly walked in assuming it was a
    contract Apple store (I heard a New branch/store of an Apple sub had opened a new store in
    Anchorage).  Needless to say, I bet I took 15 -20 classes in that week. Tuesday through Monday.
    Yep! I cancelled everything and just nailed everyone I could.
    I live near Fairbanks approximately 7+ hrs away.
    I had never had any instruction on Apple/Mac since becoming a PC convert just before Christmas of 2008.
    The Crew of Trainers Apple brought in, and New one's still in training are Exceptional!
    I've been like a five year old with a Ferrari until these Awesome Folks and Kids trained me in at
    That Apple Store.    They even assisted me in tweeking a Keynote Presentation prior to going into a 6 day
    Engineering Show also in Anchorage three weeks ago.

  • Cannot send email just get a 'relaying' error messgae

    Apologies if this has already been asked:-
    i have an iphone 4 and have upgraded to the latest version of ios.  But since then I cannot send emails from either my aol or hotmail account. I just get this error message:-
    A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The recipient "*****@aol.com" was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying.
    Any ideas?  Everything was fine before hand.  I have tried deleting then reinstating my eamsil accounts both with wifi on and off and still no difference.
    Please help its driving me MENTAL!!!!!!  

    re: not understanding instructions, it sounds like you have not enabled the Menu Bar.
    In Thunderbird you will find life much easier when seeing all the toolbars.
    Click on the menu icon - it has 3 bars.
    Hover the mouse pointer over 'Options'
    a new drop down appears, select 'Menu Bar'.
    then you will see the Menu Bar above the tabs
    It shows: 'File, Edit, View, Go, Message, Tools, Help.'

    I looked at the information you provided in the other question.
    Server name, port, authentication and connection security look ok.
    What do you have in the 'User Name' ?
    Do you have the full email address or just the first part before the @ ?
    The other thing to check is the firewall settings in the Actiontec Router.
    But this is not really a forum for dealing with your router.
    you should find the model number somewhere on your Actiontec router.
    There are different models, but sometimes the settings can be very similar.
    you should be able to do a google search for your model.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • Not getting email verification on PC Icloud

    Hi everyone. I am trying to get 'find my iphone' installed on my windows 7 PC. I have Icloud on my Iphone 4. I have the system /sw requirements as listed. On starting up Icloud on my PC I get the 'not verified' message and when I request the verification email, none arrives. I have checked junk mail etc and with my mail provider. I can sign in to Itunes and my account OK. I do receive emails from Apple support re this problem, but the operator doesn't appear to understand the issue and just wants to reset my password. I don't have more than one ID / account shown and I have gone through most of the 'fixes' that people have suggested  with no success. Now I am just frustrated!. Can anyone help please? All I get from my wondows PC are greyed out options apart from the 'send verification email' which doesn't work.

    Hi all. resolved this OK now. I added  ' Apple [[email protected]]' to my email providers white list and I started receiving the verification emails. Too much 'adding value' by spam filters!!

  • I receive an error stating user name and password are not valid on my ipad and iphone 3Gs when attempting to load email from my icloud account. When I log onto icloud from my Mac, it wont load the email either.

    One day, my ipad and iphone pick up my emails (.mac account) from icloud just fine. the next day, I recieved error messages that say my user name and password are not accurate. I removed the icloud program on both devices and added it back on to both devices and get the same message. I logged into icloud from my Mac and while I can log in, it times out when I select email and wont load the email there either. Any Suggestons?

    I am having the same problem; it started about 24-36 hours ago.
    I know my ID/PW combo are correct because I can access all other aspects of iCloud except mail.
    iPhone -- returns incorrect ID / Password
    iPad -- Same
    Mail.app on Mac -- returns incorrect password error
    icloud.com -- allows me to log in and use all functions accept mail.  When I try to use mail it stays on a white screen for about 60 seconds then returns a dialogue box that indicates a server error.
    I contacted Apple and they placed my iCloud account into something called "Troubleshooting" mode.  They generated a new strong password and sent it on to "Engineering."
    I suspect there are a small number ofo users like you who are affected with the same problem I am.  Too small a number for it to be reported as an outtage.  I suggest you call Apple and open a case to have your mail investigaged.

    Good afternoon. For over a week I can't get email on MY DASH.  Can't see mail in my Gmail Viewer.  Get a POP3 error ... can't connect to POP server.  Thought it may be a Gmail interface issue so tried to get Hotmail and then Earthlink email in the Chumby email app.  Both give same message POP3 Error , can't connect to pop3 server.  I have done multiplr hard restarts / power off / "restore to normal operation" procedures.  I have searched the discussions and community and can find no mention of POP server issues.  Please help .... advise.  I'm a disabled, but still working, senior citizen without a fancy, internet, cell phone and my Dash's ability to display my email is very important to me.  I have the Dash at my bedside and My Dash allows me to see a message from a client before I would otherwise rise. Kind regards, Martin

    Try This...
    Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
    Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
    Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
    Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
    Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    If no joy...
    Reset all settings
    Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
    This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.
    If the issue persists...
    Delete the Email Account and then Re-add it.

  • HT4864 I'm confused with the syncing of email with Icloud.  Do I need to use the new Icloud email account instead of my existing outlook accounts?

    I set up Icloud and an icloud email account in outlook 2010.  The calendar dates transferred to my Iphone but nothing of the emails.  The only email that go to my iphone are those that go to the new Iphone email account in outlook.  Do I have to use the Icloud email account instead of my existing outlook accounts in order for my email to sync?  If not what can I do to get my outlook email to sync with my iphone? Thanks.

    iCloud only "syncs" data in the iCloud account, not data in other external accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, etc.  If your email, contacts and calendars are hosted by another external account, such as Gmail/Google, you may want to not sync this data using iCloud as you would have import it all to the iCloud account in order to do so.  Instead, add your external account to your iOS devices and in Settings>Mail,Conacts,Calendars>Add Account and turn on contacts and calendar syncing with your external account.

    All browsers require a certain amount maintenance and troubleshooting from time to time.
    First, disable the Lion resume feature...
    Open System Preferences > General
    Deselect:  Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps
    Then restart your Mac then open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type this exactly as you see it here:   ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
    Click Go then move the com.apple.Safari.plist file to the Trash.
    Launch Safari. From the menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the General tab.
    Click the pop up menu to the right of: New windows open with:  Select Top Sites
    Quit then relaunch Safari to test.

    Every time I charge or use  my phone, it gets extremely hot. Also, the battery life goes down real fast while I'm using it

    There's an app on the phone that is stuck in a loop sending data or trying to send and failing. You need to find and kill that app. One way to do it is to run the battery all the way down until the phone shuts off and doesn't restart, then charge for 4 hours with the wall charger (this also recalibrates the battery gauge).
    You can also try to identify the app. If you have an Exchange or iCloud email account this is frequently the offender; go to Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendar, turn off the account, restart the phone (hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons until an Apple logo appears), then, if the problem is gone, turn the account back on.

  • After firefox updated last time, adobe updated as well, now whenever certain sites load, I get the a program needs you permission to continue which is Adobe DLM. What's up with this and how do I get it to stop?

    The problem started when firefox updated on startup. This screen is what vista puts up whenever you are about to load something new. I have already installed the adobe update twice and yet this continues.

    The Adobe DLM is not required for Adobe products to work. You can uninstall it by opening the Windows Control Panel and selecting Add or Remove Programs. In the list of programs select Adobe DLM (may be listed as Adobe Download Manager) and click on remove.
