HT4899 I have received over a hundred emails today as bounce backs from emails I didn't send to email addresses unknown to me. Obvious spam type content. Anyone else have issues on a .ME account?

When people receive emails which appear to come from their own address but they haven't sent they naturally tend to be concerned: however it's most unlikely that anyone has hacked their account, they've just been targeted by one of two common spammers' techniques: both arise because it's all too easy to forge the 'from' address on messages to be something other than the real one.
There are two things that can happen. One is that the sender has forged the 'from' address to be the same as the 'to' address (so other people will see it coming from themselves, not you), presumably in the hope of confusing spam filters. It's harmless, if extremely annoying. Delete it (never ever answer spam or try to unsubscribe from it), and you don't need to be worried about it.
The other problem, which appears to be what is affecting you, is that a spammer is forging your address as the 'from' address on a whole batch of messages. The first thing you hear about this is when you start getting bounce messages because the spam has been sent to non-existent addresses and is being bounced to you. There's no point at all in responding to it. It's infuriating but normally stops after a bit as they move on to another forged address.
There isn't really anything you can do about it: closing the account isn't really worth the hassle unless you are totally swamped, because you will have to tell everyone your new address. Apple can't really do any more than they already are about spam.

I recently bought a Macbook Pro, this is my first Mac. I restarted it, but when it started back there was a plain white screen and then it prompted me to insert the reboot disk. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a way to do this manually like with PC's?
The new Mac's came with OS X Lion 10.7 and there are no boot disks.
Since it's so new, take it back to the Apple Store and let them deal with it.
If not you can hold Command and r (as in rotten) keys down and boot the computer.
You'll be presented with a several options, including one to reinstall OS X Lion provided you have a Apple ID, which means you have to use Safari in there to set one up. To do that you need to set up a email account with Google or Yahoo. Once you get the ID, then you can download Lion and reinstall it.
It's so stupid not having a copy of the OS on hand to perform your own repairs.
Of course Apple will be happy to sell you a $69 Lion USB stick.
Like I said, take it back to the store, and try to get your money back, that will force them to think about just giving you a replacement machine that works.
Lion doesn't work really but it can be acceptable until the patches get released. -
I have not been able to get onto itunes to check my account or purchase anything for about a year now. Got an Alienware system with latest Windows. When I pull up itunes I can access my old music but cannot access my account to purchase anything new. Just reinstalled itunes and it still does not work. I am ready to just quit. Anyone else having this issue? Solutions?

Head to the Downloads and Drivers page at Dell for your particular model of Alienware. Look for available updates for your BigFoot networking device. If you update those drivers, does that give you back your Store access? -
I had been having an issue with contacts repeatedly duplicating and sometimes disappearing in my address book. This appeared to be a problem with SyncServices, so I followed the steps to troubleshoot SyncServices, archived my contacts, de-duplicated them, cleared the caches and restarted.
I was able to load my contacts back into the address book, but after attempting to de-duplicate again, I started to get the rainbow wheel and the address book is "Not Responding." Force quitting and rebooting have had no effect.
Any advice?My Address book was not opening anymore and went to "not responding". Forced stop did not resolve the issue.
Most likely to be an icloud issue. Try switching off contacts in your icloud settings in the configuration icon of your Mac. Delete contacts as otherwise you will end up with all duplicate contacts. If you have any contacts stored on your mac, be aware that when switching contacts in iCloud on again, all will be uploaded into iCLoud. So if you don't watn, export and delete before switching back on.

My camera and iBooks have stopped sending emails, the function and ability to create the email is still there but my iPad will no loner send the email or even store a draft on my account to suggest the email was ever written; please help I really need this functionality.
Can you send any emails at all indicating that the mail app is working? Did you try any basic stuff yet?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Close those affected apps and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. -
I can recieve emails but cannot send emails through my iPad for my Comcast email account. I believe I have all setting aligned properly. Anyone else have this problem?

I can logon to Yahoo directly with my wife's iPad. I can then send an email to my iMac. What I cannot do is send an email directly from her iPad to me - so I consider the problem is with iOS 7.0.3. All i get is a long 'sending' session that ends with "incorrect username or Password", but that cannot be right. I have deleted and re-created the account on the iPad - cleared Safari's history and cookies. Nothing changes. It seems to be very widespread this problem and as yet nothing coming from Yahoo or Apple. This is similar to the Windows' users experiences. Pity. -
I have NEVER used my icloud email address and am now getting spam mail to services I have NEVER signed up to. Should I conclude from this that Apple have sold my details on?
To tell me to mark it as spam is just not good enough. I do not want this rubbish cluttering my inbox.Nobody want to receive spam, but it's a fact of life. Apple is certainly not selling your address on to spammers, and it's possible that the spammer has been guessing at possible addresses and has hit on yours.
A good third-party program for dealing with spam is SpamSieve - after a training period it's very good at identifying spam and shunting it to a Spam folder where you can check it and delete at your leisure. It works with iCloud. -
Anyone else have the issue where, after the 8,3 upgrade, you cannot access more than 1 exchange account on your iPhone? This is annoying to me as I need to access 4 daily and cannot due to this error.
The first one, my private home email, works fine. With the other 3, I get the message "Cannot get mail: The connection to the server failed"
All were working fine before the 8.3 upgrade. I did try the old trick of making one minor change on the account and resaving, but that did not change anything. I even deleted my work account and re-entered it from scratch, but again, sadly, no luck. For the time being, I am successfully getting the email via IMAP, but this ***** compared to exchange. Anyone have any idea what is happening or if a fix is in the works?Well, the one set up on exchange 2k3 is now working fine, although no changes were made on either the iPhone or the exchange side, so that's fun, but it still is throwing errors when connecting to the other 2 exchange accounts. The common elements are that both non-functioning exchange accounts are google apps for business accounts. So is one of the ones that's working, by the way. The settings on both accounts are the same as the one that's working, and both worked fine before the 8.3 upgrade. I have no issue accessing both of these accounts on my ipad which is currently on 8.2.x. If it's not the iphone OS at fault, I'm at a loss as to what it could be.

My iPhone 4S does not alert every single time I receive a text message, only some of the time. The software is all up to date. Anyone else have this problem?
There are a number of different alerts that can be played on the iPhone. Have you turned the mute switch on? That is located on the side of the phone. When it is in the down/on position (the orange is showing) you should not get any sound alerts. Also, it could be an SMS, a voicemail, an email, a 3rd party alert (if you have particiular apps that provide alerts). You would need to check all of those settings, but with the mute switch on you should not get any sound alerts.

When I type my email address in the "To:" field, a random name comes up next to it as "Holidays in United States". This just started happening out of the blue and I have no idea why. Does anyone else have any idea?
Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app. I am certain other applications also need this information. Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information. Emails to my mac account are bouncing back with an error message saying that my IP address is not a valid IPv4 address. How do I correct?
Has nobody answered your question? I have this problem as well. Only one sender, to my knowledge is bouncing. Want to know how to fix it. It's my mom, so either way - my end or her end, I have to fix it. Does anyone have any answers?

The outgoing mail server is rejecting mail from your network address. Typically that happens when your mail service provider is also your ISP, and you connect to it from another network. The SMTP server will allow connections without a password from anywhere, but it will only relay mail from within the ISP's network. It could also be that your account on the server has expired or been suspended.
If you need to send mail from outside your ISP's network, use an independent mail service provider. I don't have a specific recommendation. -

This is a user-to-user forum and no-one on here can take any direct action. If your Yahoo address is not working that's something you would need to take up with Yahoo - have you checked it by sending yourself an email to it?
Otherwise you will need to contact Support: go to https://expresslane.apple.com/ and click on 'iTunes' in the center column and then 'iTunes Store' in the right-hand column and proceed from there.
