Open itunes.
Connect iphone.
That's it.
If there is an update available, it will prompt you to update.

Hi,
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Now restart your iPad. Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

This has solved loads of people who have this issue and have used an alternate DNS setting. Below are instructions for both iPhone OTA and on you Mac
If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try an OTA (over the air update)
Change DNS Servers
Settings -> Wi-Fi
Click the blue arrow on your connected network
Delete everything in DNS and replace it with 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
Try again
If this works, you will probably want to remove the WiFi network using "Forget This Network" and then reconnect to it to get your original DNS servers back. Alternatively, make a note of the original DNS servers before deleting them and replace it after you are done.
If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try through iTunes
On your Mac
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Network.
Select the network connection service you want to use (such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet, unless you named it something else) from the list, and then click Advanced.
Click DNS, and then click Add at the bottom of the DNS Servers list. Enter the IPv4 address for the DNS server.
You can use OpenDNS

or
You can Google Public DNS if you want

Hi, I just downloaded iBooks and I downloaded a book but i wanted to get the hunger games one and they dont Havre it so I erased the app and when I wanted to download another one it just says waiting and it does nothing , CAN YOU HELP ME!
Don't know if there is an option make the download window stay up, but you can bring it back with Ctrl+J then right-click on the download to open the folder it was downloaded to.

It says that my phone and ipad both have new updates and tries to coonect to update software server. That is where it hangs up and just keeps trying to connect but never does. You will probably need to troubleshoot your security software if your problem persists. Examples would be you Antivirus, Antispyware, AntiAdware, Firewall, and some PC maintence programs. You should first turn off / disable security software and retest. If the issue persists updating your security software may resolve issue but you will likely have to remove the software completely and restart the computer. I have had iTunes on my computer, which is not an apple poducts for about 6 or 7yrs now, just recently it will not let me play the music I have downloaded. I get a error message stating this computer is not registered. So I put in the information to register it, and it tells me that this computer is already registered. But I still can't play my music, the error message just keeps popping up. Can anyone help me?
Check the information on the song, Right-Click -> Get Info.
In the fist pane, (Summary), you will see the AppleId (Account Name) that was used to buy the song.
Be sure to login to use this account to register this computer to play the song

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

I did the update the other night on my iPad and since then I haven't been able to purchase music on iTunes. The system doesn't accept my password, and when I've tried to reset it doesn't recognise any of my details. I didn't have any problem before the update, and everything else seems to be working ok.
It may be best to recreate the folder and the smart playlists from scratch.
