HTML component, port number problem

I have an HTML component embedded inside an AIR app. When the
user makes this component visible, the HTML component simply loads
the contents of a URL. During development, I want to load content
from a locally running Web server on port 8080. However, this does
not seem to work. E.g., when I set
htmlComponent.location = "
http://localhost";
This works as expected. However,
htmlComponent.location = "
http://localhost:8080";
does nothing. I verified on the server that the HTML
component doesn't even attempt to connect to the server.
I also verified that this URL is valid and works (using my
local Web browser) as well as via curl. Further, I also tested the
connection via the URLMonitor class from within the AIR app: The
URL is available, according to the URLMonitor.
Any suggestions as to why the content can't be loaded from
the local port 8080 would be appreciated. This is pretty much a
show-stopper for me now, because I can't run the local server on
port 80 during development. FYI, I'm on OS X. Also, in previous
versions of AIR (about a year ago), I didn't have this problem.
Thanks,

• How can you get selection info from air html component?

In Air, I want to be able to have an html component that
displays an htmltext string. When a button in pressed in the air
app, I want to add highlight tags to the htmltext string around the
text that has been selected by the user in the html component.
The problem is, I have no idea how to get info about what
text is selected in the html component. The way to get such info
for other text display components is shown in
http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=textcontrols_05.html#446003
but that doesn't seem to work with html components.
Can anyone point me to anything that shows how to get info
from the htmlcomponent regarding the selected text?

• AIR HTML Component - URL problem

Hi,
We face the below mentioned problem. Attached herewith are code sample and simulation for the problem. Would be great if someone could help us.
Due to problems with uploading the attachment here, please send a email to the following email-id ([email protected]) and I shall send the attachment in response.
HTML Component provided in AIR is used to access different URLs one after another. When we switch from one URL to another, the previous link gets loaded prior to opening new link. Is there a way to trap events which is happening during loading of URLs.
* Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install HTML_Component_TrapEvent.air and execute the code.
2. Initially Home page is displayed.
3. Click on anyone of the three buttons labeled: Yahoo, Google, Rediff.
4. Respective website homepage is displayed. Wait till entire page is loaded. For example, assume Yahoo button is clicked, Yahoo website will be loaded.
5. Click on Button labeled "Home". Home Page gets Loaded.
6. Then click on Button labeled "Google". The HTML component with Previous web page (in this case Yahoo web page) is displayed until Google web page is loaded.
* Expected Result:
The HTML component last loaded should not be visible when the current component is loading. In other words, Yahoo website should not be visible when Google site is loaded.
* Actual Result:
The HTML component last loaded is displayed until the current component is loaded. Which means, Yahoo website is displayed until Google is loaded.
* Any Workaround: NONE
Thanks in advance.

Seems to work in the flex 3 milestone 4 beta.

• HTML component blinking cursor and combobox problems

Hi there.
I have a problem using a website displayed with the HTML component in a spark window. In any textfield in this homepage there is no blinking cursor displayed which is not really a problem but is still pretty confusing to the users. Another issue comes up with the comboboxes where the possible choices cannot be clicked with the mouse. Choosing an entry with the keyboard is possible though.
To reproduce this issue, add a html component in a spark window and load for example http://www.ard.de. The cursor is blinking in the search textfield in the top left. After clicking on the combobox on the left side - where i can't choose an entry with the mouse - the cursor in the textfield is no longer displayed.
Is this a known issue?
Best regards

Hi,
I've looked at your example and found the following 2 issues:
1. The cursor not appearing was actually a focus issue and you can fix it by adding an event listener on "windowActivate" in which to re-set the focus to the _htmlWindow. See the code below for more details on "onActivate()"
2. The issue with the dropdown is actually a bug (internal bug id #2721855) and it has been fixed in the next version of AIR which will be released towards the end of this year.

• Will there be any problem if CSS reuses a TCP PORT number?

Will there be any problem if CSS reuses a TCP PORT number for a new flow a few minutes after it finished a flow with the same TCP Port number.
CSS Server inititaed connection to Internet.
Sometimes a TCP RST terminates the connection. When it happens it appears that the CSS has used a TCP source port number which is sthe same as a previous flow that FIN'ed a few minutes ago. See attachment.

My answer to your question is, I think you'll be 'less likely'. Although the screen proble has also been reported to create blue tints over the screen at certain angles, thus, if you do get a defective (yet to be confirmed) device, then sadly, it will most definatley affect the colours of a cartoon show.

• I am trying to set up my outlook 2007 account on i pad and the process sticks on verifying. It would appear to be a problem with outgoing server and I have changed the port number but with no success.

I have just purchased an i pad 2 and am having trouble with the e-mail set up. Set up with wi-fi, i-cloud etc has worked fine but the i pad is recognising my outlook 2007 account details but is not verifying it. The trouble appears to be with the outgoing server and I have tried changing the port number, but to no avail! Also reset the account settings for holding messages on the server...help! As you can tell I'm not very techy and I'm desperate to get the bloody thing working as I'm going away on Tuesday! Any suggestions?

I am using the AIR HTML component to load various website

• Negotiating a port number from the OS

All the socket classes require a port number to be specified. No problem, except as one of the requirements at work, I need to make a server that negotiates with the OS to receive a free port number. I can not hard code any numbers or receive them from the command line. I've looked through the forums and a few google searches, but I can't find anything useful. Does anyone here know how to do this or what technologies can do this? This requirement was kinda sprung on at the last minute, so even a simple hack may be exceptable. Thanks alot.
-JBoeing

That's easy, bind the serversocket to port "0", it
will do exactly what you want.http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/api/java/net/ServerSocket.html#ServerSocket(int)
see the first sentence:
Creates a server socket, bound to the specified port. A port of 0 creates a socket on any free port.

• WebEnterprise: Hardcoded IIOP Port Number

All,
I am using IIOP component from the Forté Web Enterprise 1.0 B and I have a
problem with the IIOP port number that I have to set to my Service Object
Properties.
I am using the following properties :
IORFILE=(name=MySO.ior, runtime), listentlocation=remote, forward,
host=${HOST}, port=4500, generate=IDL
So it means I am using the Forté IIOP gateway running on ${HOST} and
listening to the 4500 port number.
As you see it is possible to specify an environment variable instead of the
hardcoded host name.
Unfortunately, it seems I cannot specify an environment variable for the
port number (if I try Forté (from the Forté workshop or from the Fscript)
returns me an error message saying that I have to specify a number).
First Issue: When the distribution application is made with this hardcoded
port number I am not able to modify during the installation this number
which can be busy and already used.
Second Issue: We are using a single machine for test purpose. We have
several Forté environments using this IIOP service SO. It means that I have
to make several application distributions allocating for each of them a new
port number to avoid port number conflicts.
Has someone coped with this problem ?
Does anyone have an idea or a workaround ?
Thanks.

• Several process listening to the same port number

I hope I am in the right form (it's the third one I am trying).
I have server/client application, one server that handles a lot of clients. In general when ever a client approach the server, the server create new process (fork()) that handle the client request.
I would like to know if there is a problem that several processes (parent and several child processes) are listening to the same port number, is it better to create thread that would handle the client request, instead of creating a child process?
To better understand the problem I create very simple client and server application.
This is a part of the server application:
The server creates a socket, bind to this socket and then listen to this socket.
After that in a while (1) loop he waits for accept:
int sockclient = accept(sockId,(struct sockaddr*)(&client_addr), &addrLen);
When the server get a sockclient (client ask for service) he create new process (fork()) that handle the client request.
struct sockaddr_in addr, client_addr;
bzero(&addr,sizeof(struct sockaddr_in));
addr.sin_family = PF_INET;
addr.sin_port = 8865;
bcopy(ent->h_addr_list[0],&(addr.sin_addr), ent->h_length);
// bind
bind(sockId,(struct sockaddr*)(&addr), sizeof( struct sockaddr_in));
If it would help I can add the all code.
If you knows about articles that talked about this subject It might help too (I am talking about advantages and disadvantages of thread against process but regardless of sockets).

You might look at this article
http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.1/misc/perf-tuning.html
under the section "accept Serialization - multiple sockets".

• ITS HTTP Port Number issue

Hi,
We are having ECC 6.0. The ITS service (SAP GUI for HTML) is not working. It is re-directing to Port Number : 0.
Please see below the detailed steps to analyze the problem from your end.
1) Login to ECC
2) Use TOCDE: SICF
3) Give the Service Name as "WEBGUI"
4) Run - Press F8
5) U will be Navigated directly to , webgui - SAP GUI for HTML
6) Select the SAP GUI for HTML, right click, then you will get list of options.
7) Select "Test Service"
8) Then it will open a new window and will display the SAP Easy Access. The URL of the new window will display something like, http://SERVER:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui?sap-system-login-basic_auth=X&sap-client=800&sap-language=EN
But in our case the Port Number is showing as 0, instead of as shown in above uRL like 8000 / 8080,etc.. Due to this, we are not getting the SAP Easy Access screen. We are getting something like "Page can't be displayed".
We were able to change the HTTP port number in SMICM TCODE, But we are not sure of the exact Port Number.
Please help us how to findout the actual ITS HTTP Port Number to resolve the issue. We are not sure what Port number was given in the initial configuration/installation.
Thanks & Regards||

Hey Ashok,
you can specify the port number with this parameter.
Normaly it should be 80<sysnr>
so if your systemnumber is 05 it would be 8005 for the http port.
you can also set the parameter like this PROT=HTTP,PORT=80$$
that will set it automatically to your system number

• Select Listener Port Number from which_table?

I'm writing a SQL script that, among other things, disconnects from Oracle and then reconnects to the same instance as a different user. I'm able to query v$database and v$instance to get most of the information I need (host, service name, etc) for the reconnect part. The only part I'm missing is the listener port number. I could hard code it to 1521, but that isn't very flexible. Currently, I'm prompting the user (which is normally me) for the listener port number in the SQL script, but that just seems a little bit lame. So my question is this: is there a view or table somewhere in the sys schema that I could use to view the listener configuration? I'm mostly working with 10gR2+ databases.

That is possible, but it needs to be a standard Oracle configuration if the script is to remain generic and portable. The script is actually working fine as-is. I was just trying to go the extra mile and determine the port number automatically. I could also prompt for a TNSNames entry as suggested by others, but I don't always have an entry defined for all of the Oracle instances in my company on every workstation that I work from.
Here is the script for anyone that is interested. It started out as a script that I found online, but the original did not work with 11g case-sensitive passwords and it only worked for local connections on the server.
Description:
Allows a DBA user to impersonate another user (without knowing the user's password).
Similar in function to using the SU command in Unix/Linux.
Note:
This script temporarily changes the impersonated user's password and may cause other
connection attempts by that user to fail during the moment that the temporary password is in effect.

SET VERIFY ONAnd by so doing you just kicked the user's password expiration on down the road, negating the benefit of havng a password expiration.
Also, you locked out the legitimate user of this account, until such time as you reset it back to the original. And in the mean time, if this happens to be an account used by some automated process, that process doesn't know the new "temporary" password and runs a risk of locking the account from too many invalid connection attempts. Try to become SYSMAN or DBSNMP from this, and you will very quickly kill OEM.
This has "bad idea" written all over it. What problem is it supposed to be be solving?
