HTML Editor component and images

Hi All!
I know that the HTML editor component does not support images currectly.
BUT: I though if I directly insert image link tags (<--img src="..."/-->) into the content of the editor, maybe it could work.
So I tried.
I realized the followings:
- The image displays perfectly within the editor if the image link is outside of the database (remote link).
- But, the image does not displays at all, if it is a server side LOB.
(I use the server side image displaying procedure discussed in a few topic in this forum, and it works on a lot of pages in my application, and also on this page where the html editor is, BUT not IN the html editor).
I'm using Firebug for Firefox, so I was able to track down what is happening in the background (while accessing images). I got this:
The working image access (which is outside the html editor component) sends this request to the server:

The response for this is the correctly displaying image (of course).

"The requested URL /i/fck/editor/KVIZ.image_display was not found on this server"
I think the problem is the boldface referer.
Can you (Gurus :) ) add any comment on this?
Maybe a trick to avoid my problem?

Why does the BlackBoard HTML editor freeze and crash Firefox 3.6?

Black Board uses a HTML editor that seems to be based on JAVA. I teach by added posts to threads and can use the editor or disable the editor in either case after adding some text the window freezes and I cannot add text or delete text. If I enable the HTML editor the text is gone, but if I then disable it I can add a few letters, but if I try to delete, it will again freeze. Disabling and enabling the HTML editor works several times and the FireFox will crash. Actually I do not care about the HTML editor. My preference is just to disable the HTML editor and add my classroom comments.
Oddly the editor works on Safari, but its slow and clunky, so I disable the HTML editor and I can add my raw text with some selective HTML to get paragraphs and bold. I would rather go back to FireFox, but for now Safari works better.

HTML Gallery, metadata and image download

hi,
I find Bridge collections really useful and output to html gallery template pretty good looking as a quick way to show prospect clients themed presentations of my work. There are two issues though which I hope someone can help with, or that Adobe would change if listening in on this.
Whereas the html gallery template reads the metadata like description, title and filename, metadata is being stripped from the image when image is downloaded from gallery.
That the image can be downloaded and that meta data is stripped from the image files are two reasons not to use what otherwise could have been an excellent product.
I would prefer the coding of this html gallery to prevent download of individual image files and as content providers we totally rely on metadata being contained with image file. Are there ways I can change this without going to script amendements?
If the solution should not be with adobe, could anyone suggest another product that could cater for this need?

Amendments (and apologies for errors in my original post. Copyright status, -notice and -url are indeed contained in metadata for downloaded image, so not so bad then Wish list thus shortended to description field and the IPTC contact data. Though why not all?

HTML editor (URGENT...PLEASE PLEASE)

I developp an HTML editor (JTextPane) and I have several problems :
1) when I use setText() to load some code I have generated previously, there is a new line which is inserted at the end of the document (new paragraph in fact). how can I remove it?
2) when I insert a new image (<IMAGE SRC=....>) at the beginning of a paragraph the image is inserted at the end of the previous paragraph
3) the editor is an applet. So when I insert an animated gif in a document and reload the applet the gif disappears. I have read that Image.flush must be used but this method deletes some components!

HTML (Editor) region should scroll vertical only

I have a HTML Editor . I want to restrict the width of it. I mean I want vertical scroll only, not horrizontal. For long sentences,it should go to next line after limit .

I think that it would be difficult to make because the size and font of text can be different. You have to write difficult javascript algorithm for determining row size, for pasting <br> tag at the end. Anyway you will have to change standard Apex HTML Editor component, that is not recommended. Don't waste your time for this and find another way for solving you problem.

KM HTML Editor Toolbar

Hi All
I have some missing icons from the Dev portal HTML Editor toolbar and wondered if anyone could help me identify where the problem lies.
I go to Content Administration --> Km Content, then I navigate in to the documents folder and click from the menu Folder --> New --> HTML File and the screen changes to the 'New HTML Document' screen. This all works as I expect but on our Dev portal the toolbar above the HTML Editor only contains B I and U.
On our QA and Training portals this toolbar contains many useful icons.
I have done a lot of searches but I have been unable to find a solution.
Does anyone know whats wrong or needs changing on our Dev portal ?

I figured it out myself, under System Administration - System Configuration - Knowledge Management - Content Management
Utilities - Editing - HTML Editing
There are these options:
Always Use Secure HTML Editor
Allow Only Basic Formatting
Allow Links
Activate Clipboard Buttons
Allow Preview
Allow Indenting
Allow Tables
Allow Bullets and Numbering
Allow Images
Allow Text Size and Font Settings
Allow Color Settings
On Dev we had all options ticked so for us that meant 'Allow Only Basic Formatting' was giving limited icons on the HTML Editor toolbar. It is worth noting that if 'Always Use Secure HTML Editor' is not ticked then the other options dont do anything, it is all based around this first option.

Can I edit my dreamweaver CS6 site in another html editor?

My client wants to be able to make minor updates to his website. I've built it in DW CS6. Can he update it KompoZer or some other free HTML editor? And will those changes also be made to his mobile site?

You may want to consider building the site(s) with a backend CMS (content management system) that the client can log-in to for editing. This requires no special software on his part. Problem with HTML Editor box in XML Form

Hi all,
I am using a HTML editor box in one of the XML form template. When I parse the data from HTML editor and apply my own style sheet and display in JSP page, it has no effect on it. Instead the style set by HTML editor box is being applied. Is there any way to override the style applied by HTML editor ?
For example,
Suppose user enters "Hello" in HTML Editor box and saves the xml form.
Then when I parse this data and apply my style sheet like
<style="font-family:arial; font-size:12"><%= datafromXMLform() %>
I should get "Hello" in arial font with size 12, instead I am getting size=1 because of style applied by html editor.
Is there anyway to remove/override this style?

In the property section of html editor in form builder , set the style as none/empty instead of standard.

since it's an html page i wish to import it to my desktop along with my
site, edit the comtent via DW on my desktop, simply because I like to use
the DW html editor localy and then update the BC server With "put" (on
right pane) dream weaver editor, just like youwould do with any html page.
I understand that in order to push live it have to be done from BC, server
side, but this discussion is all about editing the html news page, not the
news template, and not pushing it live. only editing it via DW editor on
your local site.

Can't change the HTML editor in Robo7

When I click on Tools, Options, I get this message: Internal Error: Can't get right editor's information. Subsequently, there are no HTML editors listed and the option to ADD is grayed out.
Tried several times to reinstall along with Ver .2, to no avail.
Any ideas....thanks!

I wonder if you are going about the uninstall correctly.
When you see 7.0.3 you might think you are uninstalling the full product. You are only uninstalling that patch. Click Refresh or press F5 and you will see 7.0.2 waiting to be uninstalled, after that Refresh shows 7.0.1 and finally the original install.
If you did not do it that way, try again and hopfully on reinstalling, all will be OK. If you have fixed it some other way, it would help if you posted that here.

HTML Editor and reply to discussion post

Hello,
I am using Discussion Group provided by KM. In a discussion, when I reply to a post, the HTML Editor is opened. In the HTML Editor, not all the functions are available. The Editing functions (display, cut, copy, paste) and some of the Formatting functions are displayed. Other functions such as Inserting Objects (Insert image from KM, Insert link from KM, ...) are NOT available.
Is it possible to make these "missing" functions available ?

The HTML Editor is set correctly. I checked with the KM explorer. When I used the menu New - HTML File..., the HTML Editor is opened with all the functions (including the Inserting Objects and Tables functions) .
Is there any other configuration that I need to check?

How to embed image tag in HTML Editor Standard

I am using HTML editor standard in my application. I have placed a custom image to show on header region in custom folder. Now i want to give a image tag in HTML editor with a source to this file path. Now when i press save button, then the complete HTML with the image tag should be saved in the custom table.
