HTML Expression and Highlights

Hi.<p>
I created a small People Search application. The last name and the first names where typed mixed case. (database is <b>9i</b>).<br>Examples would be<p>
Anne Baker<br>
George de Wolf<br>
Gary VanBueren<p>
The spec was to show them as they are and export them as they are to a csv but then sort properly.<p>
I also had to highlight the search patterns.<p>
So I queried both upper of the names, and the names are they are, showed the upper, hid the actual and enabled the sorts and used the HTML Expression property o upper to set the actual names (#LastName#). This took care of the proper sorting in additions to displaying the names as they were entered. <p>
But using the &P_Var. as the Highlight word did not work when I used the HTML Expression property. Also the export would return the upper case values.<p>
So I removed the upper case and HTML expression logic and hacked the anchor tag a little bit to get a value and display another value. I lost the href tag deliberately to avoid a link.<p>
so the query would return something like <p>
<a GEORGE DE WOLF>George de Wolf</a>. This would take care of the sorts and the export..<p>
but the highlight would still not work.<p>
So I coded the <span> tag in the query to highlight the pattern myself. <p>
Is there an easy way of doing this. (instead of coding the span tag and hacking the <a> tag)<p>
- Thanks<br>

When I use NULL as the value of a column in a Classic Report region and use the HTML Expression column attribute to construct the value using other columns via #COL# notation, the on-screen report works fine but to my surprise the CSV download doesn't use this value, it export the actual column value (which is NULL in this case).Not quite. It is not just a matter of line breaks, the actual column is just a placeholder, the column value is NULL but the HTML expression could combine multiple columns, see my original post.
I guess there is no way to do this. Apex team - Could this (honor HTML expression in report export) be an enhancement for the next release? Thanks

  • HTML Expressions and HTML

    I an using the column formatting HTML Expression: Ex:<i>#TITLE#</i><br>#PRESENTER#, #INST_NAME#
    This works just fine until I need additional HTML for one of the items. The HTML is in the database for the field TITLE and want to have that HTML displayed. This HTML does not display if I have the field in the HTML Expression. I need to keep these fields together to keep things lined up.
    The table entry looks like this: <s>Modeling of Blood Cell Populations </s> <font color="orange"> withdrawn</font> . The word withdrawn is included but not the formatting. If I do not use the HTML Expression the field display properly, but I need to keep the other fields display with the title.

    Can anyone assist?

    Sorry, I'm not really following this: could you show an example on apex.oracle.com, or post a screenshot somewhere? (Off the top of my head check the report column Display As property is "Standard Report Column", or that this is a Derived Column.)
    Also, please edit your post, wrapping the HTML in \...\ tags to stop it being interpreted by the forum software/browser. (http://wiki.oracle.com/page/Oracle+Discussion+Forums+FAQ)
    Finally, the &lt;s&gt; and &lt;font&gt; elements have been deprecated since forever. It may have nothing to do with the problem, but it would be better practice to use modern mark-up, e.g.
    <div class="presentation">
      <cite class="withdrawn">#TITLE#<span class="wd">&amp;nbsp;withdrawn</span></cite>
      <span class="presenter">#PRESENTER#</span>, <span class="institution">#INST_NAME#</span>
    </div>styled with CSS:
    .presentation cite {
      display: block;
      font-style: italic;
    .presentation cite .wd {
      color: orange;
      font-style: normal;
    }

  • Highlighted info in html editor and sending it in an email

    Is there a way to take everything that is highlighted in the html editor and send in an email?
    Either in the body of the default email client or as attachment in apex.mail or email client?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    Maybe this link can help you: http://javascript.internet.com/page-details/highlighted-text.html
    I've been looking at the FCK Editor (which is what APEX is using) Javascript API's but didn't find a solution that quick, but my guess it's somewhere in there too.
    Nevertheless the above link provides you with something that works as well.
    Hope you like it.

  • Interactive report and HTML Expressions

    Currently I am using standard reports showing some icons using expression like:
    <img src="f?p=&APP_ID.:&APP_PAGE_ID.:&SESSION.:APPLICATION_PROCESS=ShowIcon:::F105_BILD_ID:#GUI_ID#">
    I would like to recreate my page using the interactive report capabilities from APEX 3.1. I couldn't find the column formatting section in the interactive report however.
    How can I reproduce the current icons showing behaviour using an interactive report ?
    Thanks for help
    Valéry

    Hello Valery,
    You don't have the HTML Expressions section in an Interactive Report.
    However what you can do is include your img tag in your select statement directly. So you would have something like
    SELECT '<img src="f?p='||:APP_ID||':'||:APP_PAGE_ID||':'||:SESSION||':APPLICATION_PROCESS=ShowIcon:::F105_BILD_ID:'|| gui_id || '">' as col1
    FROM your_table
    Make sure your IR column is set to standard column and not Text.
    That should do it.

  • Find text using regular expression and add highlight annotation

    Hi Friends
                       Is it possible to find text using regular expression and add highlight annotation using plugin

    A plugin can use the PDWordFinder to get a list of the words on a page, and their location. That's all that the API offers for searching. Of course, you can use a regular expression library to work with that word list.

  • HT202159 I downloaded Dragon Express and now it won't open.  It says it is INSTALLED but it won't open when clicked.  Tried to trash it and start over but won't let me trash because it says it is open.  But it isn't!  Called mac help and they can't help e

    I downloaded Dragon Express and think that it did not completely complete the download.  However, it says that it has been installed and my account has been charged 50.00.  However, when I click on the icon, it will not open.  I have tried everything from restarting, trashing the app, but it continues to tell me that I cna't trash the app because it is open.  I called apple support and they worked with me for about 30 minutes until they finally told me that the call had to end regardless of the fact that after all of their efforts, the problem was not resolved.  He gave me a link to get a refund and said it was easy to navigate however, it led me nowhere.  So now I am stuck with a worthless app, that does not work and a 50.00 bill to pay because I can't get support or link support to get a refund and even if I could get a refund I still have the Dragon express on my computer that does not work!!!  HELP!  I don't know how the app can be open when even support could not figure it out!  When I restart, the finder window opens where it never did before.

    Well first of all this is a public forum, so keep that in mind. The users here generally can not look up your case numbers.
    If AppleCare didn't work out for you, I believe your next step is
    iTunes Store Support
    http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
    Unfortunately, their case indexing is on a different database, and they will not be able to look up your case number either. However, their support is free, and despite it may take a few bounces of emails back and forth, there is a decent chance they may be able to get a solution.
    Or... you can still try to shoot the **** with us here, which is Ok as well. But you'll have to keep in mind we can't look up your case numbers.
    By the way, the link for a refund, I think is for the same link I just gave you, so on second though, mabye it's best to just go there.

    I typed folowing code int the HTML Expression text area of the FILE_ID column of the report page :
    <img src="#OWNER#.proc_display_document?p_id=#file_id#"/>
    I am using following Procedure code:

  • Final cut express and Final Cut Pro coexistance

    I heard that FC express HD destroys the ability to export to tape in iMovie HD. Is that true?
    If it is Will FCP HD do the same thing?
    Will Express and FCP remain toatlly functional if I have them both installed.
    My grandson likes to make movies in iMovie and I dont' want to discourage him, but I like to learn new things.

    That was with iMovie4 (and 3) only. Doesn't happen with iMovieHD. See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93804
    I don't know about having FCE and FCP installed together though.

  • How to call stored procedure with multiple parameters in an HTML expression

    Hi, Guys:
    Can you show me an example to call stored procedure with multiple parameters in an HTML expression? I need to rewrite a procedure to display multiple pictures of one person stored in database by clicking button.
    The orginal HTML expression is :
    <img src="#OWNER#.dl_sor_image?p_offender_id=#OFFENDER_ID#" width="75" height="75">which calls a procedure as:
    procedure dl_sor_image (p_offender_id IN NUMBER)now I rewrite it as:
    PROCEDURE Sor_Display_Current_Image(p_n_Offender_id IN NUMBER, p_n_image_Count in number)could anyone tell me the format for the html expression to pass multiple parameters?
    Thanks a lot.
    Sam

    Hi:
    Thanks for your help! Your question is what I am trying hard now. Current procedure can only display one picture per person, however, I am supposed to write a new procedure which displays multiple pictures for one person. When user click a button on report, APEX should call this procedure and returns next picture of the same person. The table is SOR_image. However, I rewrite the HTML expression as follows to test to display the second image.
    <img src="#OWNER#.Sor_Display_Current_Image?p_n_Offender_id=#OFFENDER_ID#&p_n_image_Count=2" width="75" height="75"> The procedure code is complied OK as follows:
    create or replace
    PROCEDURE Sor_Display_Current_Image(p_n_Offender_id IN NUMBER, p_n_image_Count in number) AS
        v_mime_type VARCHAR2(48);
        v_length NUMBER;
        v_name VARCHAR2(2000);
        v_image BLOB;
        v_counter number:=0;
        cursor cur_All_Images_of_Offender is
          SELECT 'IMAGE/JPEG' mime_type, dbms_lob.getlength(image) as image_length, image
          FROM sor_image
          WHERE offender_id = p_n_Offender_id;
        rec_Image_of_Offender cur_All_Images_of_Offender%ROWTYPE;
    BEGIN
        open cur_All_Images_of_Offender;
        loop
          fetch cur_All_Images_of_Offender into rec_Image_of_Offender;
          v_counter:=v_counter+1;
          if (v_counter=p_n_image_Count) then
            owa_util.mime_header(nvl(rec_Image_of_Offender.mime_type, 'application/octet'), FALSE);
            htp.p('Content-length: '||rec_Image_of_Offender.image_length);
            owa_util.http_header_close;
            wpg_docload.download_file (rec_Image_of_Offender.image);
          end if;
          exit when ((cur_All_Images_of_Offender%NOTFOUND) or (v_counter>=p_n_image_Count));
        end loop;
        close cur_All_Images_of_Offender;
    END Sor_Display_Current_Image; The procedure just open a cursor to fetch the images belong to the same person, and use wpg_docload.download_file function to display the image specified. But it never works. It is strange because even I use exactly same code as before but change procedure name, Oracle APEX cannot display an image. Is this due to anything such as make file configuration in APEX?
    Thanks

  • HTML Expression - condition

    I have a search page with a report region showing top 10 departments.
    The query I have used is :
    select deptno, count(empno) countv
    from emp
    WHERE rownum < 11
    GROUP BY deptno
    order by deptno desc
    If the count = 1, then clicking on the column(link), I would want to goto the details page, If the count >1 then I want to display the search list in the same page. The user would then click appropriate row to go to details page.
    I tried creating using HTML expression, but URL can point to only one page - how do I specify the condition in html expression?
    Is there any other way I can achieve this?
    Thanks,

    Apart from your link - problem : This query will not guarantee to deliver the top 10 departments...beceause the where is evaluated before the group and order by. You should use a in line view to solve this.

  • Problem with Airport Express and HP PSC 1410

    Please I really need help. I just bought a HP PSC 1410 (all in one) and I connected on Airport Express and I can't print trought it. I tried to connect it by USB and it work perfectly. When you want to had the printer in printer utility you can find the right driver for the printer. Rendez-vous can find it but you can not install it...
    I tried many different way but it never worked.
    please help me ???

    I suggest you return the PSC1410 for refund, or for credit towards the purchase of another printer. This printer will not work when connected via an Airport Express. When you purchase your next printer, chose one found on the unofficial compatibility list at http://www.efelix.co.uk/tech/1013.html
    In general, all-in-one printers are poor choices for connecting via an Airport Express. Even if you do get them to work, you can only make use of their printing function.

  • WL vs. WL-express and JSP vs. javascript/SQL

    folks-
    i am trying to convince a certain party to
    disband a web-based job tracking system being
    written in ASP, javascript, html, css and SQL.
    it will be hosted on MS webserver running NT.
    i am trying to convince them to use JSP and
    WL express. i have done two years of EJB
    component work on weblogic, however, i have not
    done work with JSP or thin-clients. i was mostly
    business-logic.
    anyway i have some questions and need some
    direction. i already know JSP is better than
    ASP/javascript etc. because:
    * ASP is proprietary. ditto for VBscript
    * with an IDE creating JSP is easy and JSP
    automatically creates servlets which is way
    faster than by hand
    * JSP is JAVA based and hence benefits from
    all the portability pluses of JAVA
    but here are the more difficult questions:
    * why is WL express better than an MS
    web server? (not including WL market share
    and size. after all MS can claim that)
    * since WL express does not have an EJB
    container, how do you access the database?
    via JDBC? does one just have JDBC code
    floating around?
    * since there is no EJB container how does
    one separate presentation from logic from
    data access? this is a major downside of
    javascript, html, css and SQL etc.
    * if a web app grows beyond JSP with WL express
    into the need for an EJB container, i would
    think that most of the app needs to re-written
    as business-logic must be refactored into EJBs
    and all JDBC code will be replaced by container
    managed beans. this sounds a like a lot of
    rework.
    * isn't JSP slower than javascript as the
    servlet and hmtl code is bounced back and
    force across the network?
    with respect to architecture, scalability,
    and robustness what are the downsides to an
    MS webserver and non-JSP coding?

    * since WL express does not have an EJB
    container, how do you access the database?
    via JDBC? does one just have JDBC code
    floating around?
    Use JDO or an OR-mapper or embed JDBC into your own data access classes.
    * since there is no EJB container how does
    one separate presentation from logic from
    data access? this is a major downside of
    javascript, html, css and SQL etc.
    Presentation=JSP
    Logic=Servlet
    Data access=JDO or similar
    * if a web app grows beyond JSP with WL express
    into the need for an EJB container, i would
    think that most of the app needs to re-written
    as business-logic must be refactored into EJBs
    and all JDBC code will be replaced by container

    You should be able to tell up front if it a tx-intensive app that requires
    WLS.
    * isn't JSP slower than javascript as the
    servlet and hmtl code is bounced back and
    force across the network?
    They aren't exclusive. For dynamic pages, use Javascript on the front end,
    JSP on the back.
    * with respect to architecture, scalability,
    and robustness what are the downsides to an
    MS webserver and non-JSP coding?
    In the real world, and for most apps, while Java has the architectural edge,
    they both have similar scalability and similar robustness. MS gives you no
    choice though, and you rewrite every time they see a new buzzword. You can't
    leave MS-land without abandoning almost everything. You can leave WLS in a
    week if you have to.
    It's an investment. Invest wisely.

  • Visual Web Developer 2010 Express and Oracle ODAC - Oracle data provider

    system - xp pro
    Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010 Express and Oracle ODAC112021.
    I can't seem to get the ODAC to work correctly with the Web Developer Express. When putting in a gridview I only see the standard adapters. The one from Oracle does not appear. I have spent days trying to figure out why but no luck. No one else seems to have this problem. I do not see any errors when I installed the ODAC. I've followed a few tutorials.
    http://weblogs.asp.net/nannettethacker/archive/2010/09/17/installing-oracle-data-access-components-odac.aspx
    and
    http://www.smart-soft-nz.com/oracle-and-asp-dot-net.html
    I tried using the Windows adapters but they just don't seem to work. I can get results in the query builder but when I go to the next step in the wizard I get the constraints error. I've done all the research on that with no luck so I wanted to use the ODAC. This killing me! This really shouldn't be that hard. I've added the dll to the references but again it's just not an option. If anyone could give me a little direction that would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thank you
    John

    Dear Friends,
    Installing SP1 and updates to it solved the first issue. So the database now seems to be of type 2008 R2.
    Deleting some files solved the second issue.
    However, another issue remains.
    My most important projects were created with a version of VWDX 2010 that was downloaded from Microsoft and installed on July 3, 2012. This version of VWDX has now been lost, because my hard drive recently ceased to function and had to be replaced.
    On the new hard drive I have a version of VWDX 2010 that was downloaded yesterday (May 28, 2014). As indicated above, I also installed SP1 and related updates.
    When I load a project that was created in the version of VWDX 2010 that was installed almost two years ago and try to open the database connection, I get, in essence, the following error message:
    "The database C:\Users\...\Database.mdf cannot be opened, because it is version 661. This server supports version 655 and earlier. A downgrade path is not supported."
    So it seems that the original database version was 661, whereas the version downloaded yesterday is 655. It seems very strange that a version downloaded now should be earlier than a version downloaded two years ago. Does anyone have an explanation or a solution?
    Thank you all for your trouble, and best regards.
    Eric (orexin)
    P.S. The site from which I obtained VWDX yesterday was:
    www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/products/2010-editions/visual-web-developer-express and the executive was called VWD2010SP1AzurePack.exe.

    However, the linked article appears to be very out of date. If using APEX 3.1 or later, see About BLOB Support in Forms and Reports for a better alternative.
    There's an OBE tutorial that followed the introduction of declarative BLOB support in 3.1 as well. (That might be an earlier version but it is still relevant to APEX 4.x.)
