HTML form size limitation

It's about a size limit. When a HTML form is submitted, there is a size limit of how much information can be sent to the server. I'm talking about using the POST submission (as opposed to the GET submission).
It used to be that the HTTP protocol specified a limit of 8K. The new version of the protocol now says there is no limit imposed and it is up to each server manufacturer to set its own limits.
Can anybody help?

So what is the data size limitation of Oracle HTML form? Does anybody know that? or if there is a document can be referenced?

we introduced this check with release 10.1.2.0.2, and here is the why ..
a) It takes asignificant amount of time to generate this form and
b) normally no user would fill ou 70 fileds to kick off a process ...
what you can do is specify a default input - which is done in bpel.xml by specifying defaultInput as property within configurations

HTML Form Size Exception

Can someone tell me why I get this exception and is it significant?

I have searched this forum and the WEB and can't find anything relevant to "BPEL HTML Form Size"

This is BPEL 10.1.2 and I'm sure there are more than 70 tags in the input XML stucture. The original BPEL process was initiated from the BPEL Manager console, but the error is coming from a child process. I can understand the issue with a limit of 70 separate tags (each represented on the input screen), but in this case there is one input string which is a large XML structure. It certainly sounds like a similar problem, but only the same ball park.

HTML Editor size limitation?

We have a Report/Form combo for a column. clicking on the "Edit" Link from the Report takes you to the Form where you can edit it. <br>
The corresponding database column is of type LONG. I see the data in the report, but clicking on Edit gives me an error - <br>
ORA-20001: Error fetching column value: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small <br>
I've tried switching from CLOB to LONG for the column's datatype, but both fail to open the Form. <br>
If I change the Item type to "Text Area", the LONG column works, but I do need it as an HTML Editor... <br>

I am currently using CR 8.5 and am aware of string size limitations... 254 characters max. I'm looking at CR XI and can't find any data on string size limitations. A few questions:
1) We're considering database fields larger than 254 characters, and would like to use CR to parse the field. In CR XI, what's the maximum string length that can return from a table and still be used in a formula? Can a Memo field be used in a formula in CR XI?
2) Once I've parsed the fields in the database table, I'll need to return formatted strings back to the report. The strings will be larger than 254 character ... What's the maximum string size allowed in CR XI?
3) Somewhat related, but not entirely: Have any patches been released that provide HTML table interpretation in CR XI?

The maximum length of a String constant, a String value held by a String variable, a String value returned by a function or a String element of a String array is 65,534 characters.
The maximum size of an array is 1000 elements.
The maximum number of arguments to a function is 1000. (This applies to functions that can have an indefinite number of arguments such as Choose).

When you say submit do you mean HTMLB submit or a normal HTML form submit? If it's the latter, you just need an action on your form...

HTML Form-like behavior in Flash

Hello,
I'm looking to find a reference that can help me in the
creation of Flash user input screens that behave in a manner
analogous to an HTML form. Specifically I'm concerned with error
checking and data validation. For example, if a user is creating a
new record or editing an existing record and they choose to
navigate away from the page, the code should check for data
changes, and on finding any offer the user an option to save the
data. Once the offer is made and responded to the flow of the
application should proceed appropriately.
In an HTML form this type of behavior would be accomplished
with an appropriately worded JavaScript "confirm" dialog. This
dialog allows for a synchronous interaction between the user and
the flow of the JavaScript code in which user choice results in how
the code flow proceeds. With Flash, such a synchronous event is not
inherently possible (to the best of my admittedly limited
experience). Without this type of "confirm" dialog, one must create
a custom messaging system to communicate with the user, and must
also structure the code in such a way that everything is able to
achieve the desired effects in an asynchronous manner.
I've tried searching this forum but I don't know how to
phrase my search in order to find good results. If anyone has any
ideas, links to resources, links to threads, or any other items
that might help in my quest to build fully optimized and robust
user input forms in Flash CS3, I'd really appreciate the help.

Why not just use a DataGrid component? They're pretty easy to
use actually.
Try this: start a new AS2 project and drag a DataGrid from
the components
panel onto the stage. Use the properties panel to size it to
500 x 300. When
you add data to a grid it will just show a scroll bar if
necessary, it
doesn't resize... Give it an instance name of "theGrid".
Now, add the following script to the frame:

Remove the name attributes from all input elements defined by the pl/sql process. For example
<input name="company" type="Text" size="30"/> should be replaced by <input type="Text" size="30"/> or <input name="f01" type="Text" size="30"/>
The APEX accept process recognises a predefined set of HTML form input names. Any input with a name not from this set will cause the accept process to fail. f01 through f50 are valid names for the accept procedure.

How to Get Around the Memo Size Limitations in CR ?

I am Using Crystal Reports 2008, SQL Database and ASP .Net Visual Studio 2010 for Team Foundation with Crystal Viewer embedded in a web page. All current update and patches area installed.
Database has Memo Fields up to 164000 characters in length. Viewer show fine, but with the reports that have been designed to print this information, only seeing part of the Memo field.
This happens with both RTF, Text and HTML formatted data from within the database field.
I have read that there is a limitation on the size of a Memo field that Crystal Reports will print (65,534).
I actually received an Crystal Reports error box when i try to concatenate multiple substring fields as a formula.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on a work-around ?
Due to legal considerations, this data has to be output as it was input, so it can't be hacked. It can be parsed and again merged but I really donu2019t want to try and write SQL procedures to parse HTML code into readable multiple pieces based on variable length tags with large memo fields.
Please offer any and every suggestion,

How do I modify the size limitation on images in PSE 12?

I frequently use panorama tools in Photoshop CS6 & CC and PSE 12 to generate large images (several sunsets/sunrises reach as much as 370 MB or more --- PNG or TIF without layers). It apears that PSE 12 (and previous) have a limit less than a tenth of that. I also understand that there is a registry fix which would allow for larger images to be displayed.
A) Is that so?
B) What is the patch?
C) What are the (unintended) consequences?
I use Win 7 Pro. One machine is 32 bit; the primary production machine, 64 bit. Thanks

The registry fix you are thinking of affects the Organizer only. The Editor has an absolute limit of 30,000 x 30,000 pixels. File size itself is not the constraining factor.

How to reference html form element in javascript ?

Dear all,
My DPK portlet is like this:
I created a html form within it there a several textfields, a hidden field and a SUBMIT button.
The application will call itself to insert a new record to database table on pressing the SUBMIT button.
My problem is that since all the form textfields and the hidden field ara all the qualified names, and I want to set the hidden field to some value, say "ADD" on the onsubmit event in the form. How can I reference the hidden field in javascript ?
Or can you suggest another strategy to do that ?

PDF file size limited to graphics memory in Reader?

I've created a form (in LiveCycleDS) that allows for an unlimited number of photos to be loaded into it. I put an image into a subform that is duplicated every time a user clicks a button thus creating an unlimited number of images that can hold photos. I then extended it with Reader Extensions.
I'm running into a problem when I try to load a large number of photos into the form. It gets to about 47MB of images when it locks-up Adobe reader. I've been able to bring up other applications after the lock-up and when I switch back to Reader the artifacts of the other application are then displayed within Reader.
What is the practical limit to the size of a file created with LiveCycle? Is it tied to the amount of graphics memory a computer has? My machine has 2GB of RAM while my video card has only 384MB. I haven't been able to figure out if there is a file size limitation.

It's entirely normal for file size to increase. PDFs are much more compressed than print streams. For some printers the print size is almost constant (a huge bitmap), for others, it's a collection of graphical items and the size varies enormously. Rarely anything you can do.

Render html form & send forms's input values as params via HTTP POST

I'm using appache commons http client to send HTTP post queries to a given url and receive HTTP response then process it.
one of the requirements of my Application is the following: one of these HTTP Post requests is supposed to return an HTML form with different html types (text filed, text area etc..) that i will need to display in my swing application. one important requirement is that i can't know in advance what the html form field types will be.. it depends on a given parameters that my application send as part of HTTP Post method (using apache http client).
I Longly searched for a simple solution to this problem . There are many solutions but each one has it's limitations :
1-i can render the html form inside a JEditorPane .but how can I collect the user entered data inside JEditorPane ? i'm not sure this swing component offers the capability to detect its html contents and more it will be difficult to know what are the values entered by user inside html form rendered by JEditorPane.
2-are there any Java Embedded browsers that offer some API to enable me detect the html form fields ,capture the data entered by user inside the html form ?
3-the solution i currently opted for is : parse html & convert html form to swing dialog. currently this solution i use works well but the cost of implementing it is high : it involves difficult parsing logic. this makes me worried .I'm not sure if i'm now using the right & easiest solution.
I need some advice on What is the simplest and clean solution to render a html form & yet be able to collect user entered inputs & send the user input values as params via java HTTP POST request ?

Save pdf form as a html form

Hi everybody,
I have a form which I just made in Adobe Acrobat pro XI (Windows 7 Professional N 64bit). I would like to save it as an HTML form (or at least users should be able to open it directly in browser and fill it out - saving it is NOT necessary).
I tried so far:
1. FILE --> SAVE AS OTHERS --> HTML WEB PAGE
but it actually kind of prints the pdf form as image, which should not happen. Text ist also scrambled across the page without meaning.
2. converting it online to HTML but the buttons disappear. Text is in the right place but no buttons (radio buttons for ex. or text field).
Is there a way to "convert" the pdf form to html "form"? And if yes, how can I do it?

I create HTML forms by hand coding, so I cannot recommend any specific apps. Most now suffer from being too complicated.
I think you need to forget the idea of converting a PDF form (nicely laid out, attractive) to a similar HTML forms. HTML forms are basic, functional, ugly and do not have a fixed layout. A conversion tool will not magically overcome this limitation.
