You can use the getURL() method to call a javascript
function.
on (release) {
getURL("javascript:functionName()");

Desktop wallpaper published to HTML in Flash
How do I change the alignment of the published html file on
my Desktop when displaying on single monitor?
I created a 1024 x 768 image in Photoshop; saved it as PNG
file and imported it in Flash 8. I added a few buttons to it and
published the file in SWF and HTML so that I could use the HTML
file as my Desktop background. The published file size is also 1024
x 768. When I apply the HTML file as my desktop background, the
image on the desktop is pushed down and right leaving a 1/4" border
at the top and left side of the screen, cutting off the bottom and
right side of the image. However, when I publish the file in
animated GIF or just set the PNG image as my Desktop background,
they align correctly on the Desktop. I only experience this issue
when publishing to HTML from Flash. When I extend my Desktop to
dual monitors, the HTML wallpaper is aligned properly on the left
monitor (does not extend to the monitor on the right).Just searched and found the answer by orangetractor.
The getURL command works, but not offline. Upload files to
server and test; it works then.
getURL("pagename.html#anchorname");
anyone else think its weired that it will work online and not
off? -

Can you Open Html in Flash?
Such as in a frame , kind of like in an iframe
say after an animation , the iframe or whatever would move out and open the html page inside?flash supports a very limited number of html tags so, loading html into flash is generally unsatisfactory.
you can either limit yourself to those supported tags or open the html in a browser window that's either the same or different than the one that displays your swf. -

Display Dynamic HTML beside Flash Chart in Chart Region
Hello,
I have a vertical 3D flash chart with some categories I,II,IV... on x-axix. I have to show a legend beside the chart dynamically depending on the categories displayed like (I - PC, II - TV, IV-Laptop....) First I tried to do this with static data. I modified, Region Source of Chart region to include the legend. I am successful to create a table & put some static html code. Now I want this to be dynamic.
I found that with shotcuts I can put dynamic HTML code. I created shortcut with PL/SQL & successfully displayed them in a 'HTML REGION WITH SHORTCUTS', but I want that in Chart Region, not as a separate region. Shortcut is not working in Chart region.
How can I achieve this? Is there a way to call a process or substitution string or some thing from Chart Region to display my legend dynamically beside the chart.
Experts any hint is appreciated.
Sowji.Experts,
Can you please give any hint how this can be achieved? If I keep the dynamic legend as HTML with Shortcut region, the width & height are not matching with the chart region as it is dynamic. Also, I am unable to combine both 'chart' & 'html with shortcut' region to look like one region. So I am looking for options to insert the dynamic html in to chart region.

Embedding HTML Into Flash?
Let me start with the fact I only know some AS2. AS3 tends to go over my head. So I'm using Flash 8
If I need FlashCS5 to do this, then, PLEASE, let me know.
Here's the situration.
I manage and build a number of sites. Many are parts of a network. The goal is to join them all as one. Both without using php (don't know php), and without having to leave primary page. A Flash Site is the plan. But that is a TON of work to re-create entire sites flash that are already large and established.
So I got to thinking. What if I embed the HTML/CSS sites into Flash itself? That way they can still make their changes and it'll effect both the HTML version as well as it's mirror/portal via the Flash site?
In Short:
I want to embed this page on one frame in Flash:
http://www.uga-international.com/About.html
And place a link to another KeyFrame that has this page/site embeded:
http://www.melholder.com/MAIN.html
How would I go about doing this?
====
Then it got me thinking even more. If this works, would it be possible to load a SWF video player (Webstunning FLV Player) into Flash and run it as if it's part of the Flash site?
I thought the Loader Component would do this for me. But it keeps saying it can't locate the "playList.xml" file. The player has outside files it referances. This eoor prevent the player.swf from playing period.
So how would I go about getting the loader to player external .SWF files that referance external .XML files?
Here are two sample pages using different .SWF files that referance external .XML files:
http://www.melholder.com/index.html
http://www.dovm.org/TEST1a/Test1a.html
Thanks in advance.Thank you for you help and patience.
But your last statement "copy and paste your frameset encoding" just got me lost.
In Flash, I know how to use the "MyLoader" to load an outside file (but loading HTML pages in it does not work) But it only has these Parameter options:
autoLoad:True
contentPath: "URL goes here
autoScale:True
I also know how to point a button's AS2 to open a URL page.
on (release) {
getURL("URL Link Goes Here",_blank);
Those are the only pointing methods I know.
Now that I think about it. do I change the "_blank" part of the AS2 code to the name of the Iframe instead? -
Embedding HTML inside Flash File
HI.
I would like to inquire on how to embed a HTML file insides a
Flash File.
This is the scenario, I have several HTML files, e.g. a.html,
b.html, c.html.
Where there would be a links inside that flash file, to open
a.html, b.html, and c.html (not a new browser).
How can I do this? Guides / Tutorials would help.
I am a bit a newbie in the world of Flash. Thank you in
advance.

Dynamic text fields do support some HTML formatting, but
it's important
to understand that at this time, the supported tags comprise
only a very
small subset of the full HTML specification. (Search the Help
panel for
"supported HTML tags," and you'll see which ones they are.)
As such, Flash
Player simply doesn't load HTML files.
What Flash Player does load is XML, so if your documents are
formatted
as XHTML (that is, technically XML), you'll have the
beginnings of something
you can use. Flash won't necessarily be able to display
elements it doesn't
understand (e.g. tables), but because the document is XML,
you'll be able to
parse those tags and extract information from them, using
what Flash *is*
capable of displaying.
I wrote a series at Community MX not long ago that makes
some
exploration into what you're after.

Embedding HTML in Flash. Is it possible?
I have a simple website that I created and want to put up a
video that will play directly from YouTube. What I want to do is
embed the code they give me onto an SWF and have it play the video.
I seem to be able to do this on a Dreamweaver page and on blogs but
no matter how hard I try, the code comes up as text when I preview
in HTML(Default). I have tried having it as dynamic text, input
text, you name it and I can't seem to get it to play the video
instead of the text displaying text. Can this even be done? If so,
how how how?
I have a video embedded now that runs off my server but it
takes forever and a day to load. Are there any other solutions to
get a high quality 2min. video to play without at least a 2min.
wait?you can create a SWF movie or document on flash with a flash
cideo player on it and then embedding that swf into your site will
call the video off from youtube or where ever the video is, -

i have been searching for help on this issue and cant seem to find an answer. i am sure the issue is my lack of understanding.
Basically, i have a flash (CS3) program (lobby.fla) that contains a button to load another flash file (join.swf). i published the
lobby.fla program and created the lobby.html program and the AC_RunActiveContent.js. All program files are in the same directory.
if i run lobby.fla from Flash CS3 all works as i would expect. when i click on the join button, the join.swf is loaded.
if i run the lobby.html program from Dreamweaver, the join button does nothing (not even a trace statement is excuted).
Eventually I would like to pass parameters from the lobby program to the join program but i cant get the button to work.
if i just load the htl program in the browser this works. but when i run the lobby.html program from within dreamweaver the botton does
nothing. what am i missing in the dreamweaver side of this?
my environment is Windows XP Home, php-mysql, Dreamweaver and Flash CS3.
thanks for any help
teremotoat this stage i would take a guess. i am at a loss.
from my understanding i have published the lobby.fla and i have gotten a lobby.swf, lobby.html and an AC_RunActiveContent.js files.
i have looked at the lobby.html and it seems to match with what i can find on the web searching forums for help and examples.
so i dont think it is that but it may be i need to add something but i am not sure. the AC_RunActiveContent.js file seems to be rather generic and
it does not look like something i should or would modify.
why would this work fine if i run this program outside of dreamweaver?
i thought it would be best to use html-ajax-php-mysql to handle logins and then let flash be the main program that the user will use.
maybe i am wrong in my design thinking. What i am trying to accomplish is to have a page presented (with links to join specific rooms).
the rooms will be a flash program (there is no required interaction between users who join the room...but i will need to pass a few pieces of
data back to the main calling program where i will need to update my database).
should my design be more where all links/buttons needed to move the user to the flash programs i want them to interact with be done outside
of flash? i was hoping to use flash to just pass the required parameters back to the lobby.html program and then process that data (update
my databases) . it just seemed easier to have a main driver program (my lobby flash program) to handle all the work as opposed to a whole bunch
of html pages.
i appreciate your opinion on this....i feel i maybe moving in the wrong direction in my development.
thanks

Displaying xml as html in Flash
Hi
I'm struggling with an xml problem. Within my Flash movie
(CS3), I have two dynamic text boxes (one titled 'title' and the
other titled 'description'). The text and images are calling into
Flash without a problem, but in the 'description' text box, I need
to render hyperlinks as part of the xml text (the 'title' text box
does not need to render as html - there are no hyperllinks). I'm
doing this using CDATA tags, but although I've selected 'Render as
html' for the text box titled 'description' in Flash, I'm not
getting the hyperlinks (I'm actually seeing the tags being
displayed in the Flash movie).
Here's an example of my xml;
quote:
<image>
<id>1</id>
<title>Heading positioned here</title>
<description><![CDATA[Body text positioned
here.<a href="
http://www.url-here.com">Click
here</a> to view the products that make up this
display.]]></description>
<imageurl>IMAGES/image1.jpg</imageurl>
</image>
I'm fairly sure that the xml data is correct, which means
that the missing link is in Flash, but I just can't crack it.
I'd be really grateful for any help.
Many thanks.Thanks for your reply, Ned.
Are you talking abut ActionScript here? If so, how is this
assigned to the text box (I can't attach ActionScript to the box
itself)?
Many thanks -
