Html lost link to spry css

I'm pretty new to Dreamweaver so thanks for the help.
I've set up a spry horizontal menu bar.  The menubar.js is attached but the horizontalmenu.css is not showing under the html associated files.  It has somehow become unattached even though  the stylesheet link is in the head section of the html file.  How do I re-link it or for that matter, link a different one?  Opening the link as a file does not seem to do it.
Thanks.

I am a tutor at a college in the UK and although this is not a frequent occurance it does happen more than you might think.
More than a few students have experianced this in their software.
It  is a Dreamweaver issue and not a code issue. The html code is still  intact when it happens and if you were to preview the page it would  display correctly.
It is that the style sheet info in the css panel is lost and in page design view of Dreamweaver.
If you restart Dreamweaver its there again. but once this has occured, it then happens more freqently on that computer.

  • Link to spry css broken in template or child pages

    Hi,
on the following pages the spry menu is not displaying properly.  I did notice that in the template pages the link ref was missing ../ at the beginning.  Having added this and updated the templates and child pages (these were also uploaded to the server) I thought that would solve the problem.  But it doesn't look as though the change in the link ref has updated correctly.

    Second url:
    http://davidcoshdesign.com/nea/lighting_functional_wall.html
This one appears not to be linking properly to the template?  At leats, I think that's the problem.  The template is in the correct folder and uploaded to the server.
I have noticed on this site that when I make a new page based on any of the site templates, when I look at the coding in DW, there are references to the local site 'root' folder.
Have I messed up the links to templates etc on site-wide basis?  Do I need to go into 'Manage Sites' to sort this out?

No, just a reoccurring problem, for someone who constantly struggles witht the vagaries of html.

  • CS3 Spry css question

I know basic tableless css, my question is instead of a regular navigation bar I need to use the spry widget for a dropdown navigation bar on an exisitng html page. I'm able to insert the spry in the correct spot on the .html page and get it to work but I have a css sheet already attached to the page I need to know if I can just select all the css from the spry css page and insert it inside my attached css page?
    Any help?

Yes, you can move the styles, but in my opinion, it is safer to maintain the Spry CSS assets in their own file, safe from inadvertent deletion or harm. There is an inherent logic to the order of styles in the Spry CSS sheets, and you might lose the wisdom of the comments not to mention the orderly consistency as well.
You may link many style sheets to your .html pages...you are not limited to one per page.
By using several CSS files attached to one page, you can also have a separate style sheet for different media: one for the Screen, one for Print, one for a Handheld device. There's no reasonable way to keep all these varying uses for different style sheets all one ONE sheet. The Printer will look for your main style sheet AND at the overriding styles in the print style sheet, for instance, so you don't need to print the nav bar when what you want is a print of the content.
    Z
You do, of course, need to NAME the CSS files with distinct names, for instance, global.css, print.css, handheld.css.

  • Spry CSS

I am using spry on an FAQ page and it works fine but I want
some panels to open a certain height like 100px and others to open
200px. I copied the CSS and changed the height and then changed the
name of the class. When I use the first class it works fine but the
second content div I use a different class and it doesn't work it
still acts like the first class. How can I stop the first class
attributes for height so my other panel content areas can have
    their own CSS.
I also would love to understand how to make the js work so
the content panel can expand to just the size needed for the
content. I tired height: auto; and it did not work.

    Oh, yes...
    Congratulations!
    Take care,

  • How do I convert an html design web site to CSS template and layout?

    Good Morning, All!
How can I convert, apply, or change, efficiently, my html web pages into a CSS template so I don’t have to change each page every time I add something to the main page…also, I currently have two tables (I know, old-fashioned) one which holds my list of contents and links to the different sections (page) with information from the community on the website. The other table holds my text and pictures which I want to update daily. How can I change the format to a 2 column, liquid layout with a masthead area on top for logo and text with a box around it. Time was not available for me to learn all the details of my new Dreamweaver program so I did what I knew and uploaded it with all the boo-boos, inactive links and non-existant pages.
Now I have the time to focus and want to get it done better so that it is easy to update with new text and features daily. (I am converting my printed newspaper to an online version after 17 plus years and trying to learn the new Adobe Premium Design Suite CS5 programs. What a trip this is at 61-years-old!
My community and readership are looking forward to the web site according to a survey I took. They are very tolerant about my boo-boos while I learn the new software for the web design. I’ve let them know, through my newspaper and personally (I am very active in the community), that online is where I am going and all that I’ve spoken to, or who have sent emails, are very supportive and look forward to getting their news from my web site newspaper.)
I am seeking some guidance...I know a little about a lot, but not a lot about anything...even though I've been working with computers since 1983.
I thank you all in advance for whatever help you can give.
    Donna

That's a good start.  You will want to fix these things -

    </p>
And now you will have a page that contains completely valid HTML.

  • Using links in Spry tabs

I am using the spry accordion widget to allow an author to
have a table of contents with the tab containing the name of the
article and a link to the article page, and the accordion content
area is an abstract of the article. The problem is that the link
(in the tab) simply does not work in Internet Explorer. It works
fine on mozilla based browsers and safari, you click on the link
and go to that page successfully, but it refuses to work on
Internet Explorer - clicking the link does nothing. I tried this on
collapsable panels and found the same problem. If I place the link
in the content area, the link works fine, but it will not work when
the link is in the tab in Internet Explorer. Other interesting
information: if I disable ONLY the spry javascript the links work
fine, and if I disable ONLY the spry css the links work as well.
Has anyone found a workaround to this problem?

    Hi,
No. We do not have a way to achieve this as of now.

  • In the spry css menu, how do i know what does what?

    I have two questions,
    (1)    In the spry css menu, is it just a case of trial and error to find out what each one does or is there a recognisable freature of each line to tell me what each one does, there are so many of them and most of them are alike. I cant help thinking there is a simple way of identifying what each one does without having to search around in the dark until i stumble on the right one that dose what i am trying to tweak in the appearance of the menu bar.
    (2)  When I am inserting the data for each of the navigation links when i first insert the spry menu I.E.... HOME...ABOUT...COURSES....CONTACT  and the list items under "COURSES" link successfully to each page when clicked in the browser. When i click the "HOME" button, a drop down menu of the navigation options ( HOME...ABOUT...COURSES...CONTACT) appears under it. How do I eliminate this when i insert the spry menu bar so it does not appear in the browser.

    Have a look here http://www.dwcourse.com/dreamweaver/ten-commandments-spry-menubars.php#one
    Have proper markup.
Although the above are true answers to your questions, I have reason to believe that it will not satisfy you. Remember that these are user to user forums and that we do not have much time to spare. We can answer most specific questions, but do not have the time to answer generic questions to their fullest extent.
What I am trying to say is, please supply a link to your site with a specific question and we will help where we can.

  • Links to spry tab content

Within one html file divided into Spry-tabs, I set a named
anchor in tab-content <div> of one tab and try to link to it
from within a different tab-content division of the same page.
Doesn't work - just sends me to bottom of division in the which

You have to know which tab the anchor is within and then you
can show a specific tab. Check out the code on this page:

  • Dreamweaver very slow when linking to external CSS style sheets

I'm working on a site on my PC using Dreamweaver CS6.  When I link to external style sheets, Dreamweaver virtually grinds to a halt.  Just clicking from one line to another can take up 10 seconds.  My PC is high spec, i3720, stripes set drives and 32gb ram.
I have tried deleting the cache no change.  The external css files are part of the site and the site has been rebuilt .  Can somone help with this as it is seriously impacting my ability to use Dreamweaver.

Hi Murray, the RAM comments were irrelevant, pointless. 32GB RAM vs 4GB RAM?  Sorry, I worked at Microsoft and as a systems integrataion consultant for a number of years.  32bit programmes don't access RAM the same as 64bit, but, having 32gb with a 64Bit OS means RAM usage for a 32bit programme is better managed. Programmes and data files are on seperate drives.  My data files kept are on 3 disk stripe sets.
The CSS files and the HTML file are on the same drive.  AS an example of performance for data read/writes, I also use Photoshop CS6 to edit images in excess of 2gb in size containg multiple smart object, and I dont experience this type perormance lag.
In this case, RAM is mainly irrlevent because the file are small, approx 200kb total combined size.  I mentioned RAM in my initial post because any time I've had problems with Adobe products before, I've always been asked how much RAM I have.
So, can we please drop RAM, and perhaps focus on the problem....
Dreamweaver, regardless of what background processes I have running, regardless of how much RAM I have, regardless of where the files are kept, has a significant performance hit when editing an HTML file with links to multiple CSS files.

  • Linking different Spry Widgets

How do I go about linking different Spry Widgets?
    For instance:
    1. I want the Spry Accordion Widget to open to a certain panel based on a specific Spry Menu Widget tab being clicked.
    2. On clicking a specific Spry Accordion Widget panel, I want to load an iframe or html content in another container on the same page.
Any pointers appreciated. Where to look also appreciated.

    This is very useful...thank you.
As a followup...where do I find all the "object literals" for each  widget. Some are obvious.
Lets say that I have a vertical menu on another page.
When I open that page, I want the vertical menu to open to a certain menu item. But I cant find any documentation for specific object literals for the menu.
Thanks for your help. Really helped.

    Page works OK for me.
It may be you are initially accessing a cached page, which would reflect prior activity from a previous visit. Go to the Safari Menu and select "empty cache". Then try the site. See if that makes a difference.

html#anchor use to be very problematic few years back.
Browsers didn't like it and even tho
you made one browser like it, it would stop working in
another. We had all kind of work around,
from javascritp to url encoding. Perhaps give it a try and
    see what works for you:
    getURL("javascript:top.left.location.href='test.html#anchor';
    void(0);");
Keep in mind , the functionality will vary based on browser
    version also due to
new security settings, you might not be able test it locally,
    might need to upload
    to server.
If using URL encoding, replace the # with %23:
    getURL ("some.html%23anchor");
