  • Speed of scroll text

    Hi!
How can I adjust the scrolling speed of the end credits?

    AppleMan1958 wrote:
You need to adjust the length of the scroll by dragging the handle at either end. Make it longer to scroll slower. Make it shorter to scroll faster.

There appears to be another issue (also seen it reported elsewhere in this forum) in that you can't have a long string of text with the scrolling text. Whether it is something to do with the number of lines or whatever (it is definitely not a time thing), the scroll text option won't let you go past a certain point. If I add one more line at the top, I lose one at the end, regardless of the length of time of the clip. I'm having to split the text into two separate entries, but there is a gap. Scrolling text insists on putting an "ending" of some type after the last line of text that is not editable. Very frustrating. Other video packages I've used adjust the speed of the scroll based on the amount of time, but don't have limitations as to how much data you want to have. As I said, others have reported it as well.

  • EDGE and HTML dynamic text in a "box" with scroll bar

I'm new to EDGE, a win7pro master collection cs5.5 suite owner. I'm mainly in the Film/Video post production field (mostly AE, PPro, Pshop, IA) but have been branching into web design the last couple of years.  I use Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash. While I'm a expert user with all the Film/video apps, I would say I only have intermediate ability with the web apps. While I understand a lot of programing logic bulding blocks I'm not a coder.
So since we're told "flash is dead",  my interest in Edge is to try to do some of the things that I can currently do in flash in  EDGE. I was excited when Edge first came out but lost interest when it became obvious that Adobe was not going to offer Edge and Muse to "suite owners" but only in their force feeding of the "Cloud". Better known as the "golden goose" for adobe stockholders and a never ending perpetual hole in the pocket for users. Anyway....
I spent the last couple of days doing some of the tuts and messing with the UI. It's matured a lot since I was here last.
I've been working on a flash site for a sports team where one of the pages is a player profile page where college recuriters and other interested parties can view recuriting relavent info/stats about players. This is how it works. While on the "Team" page a users clicks on  a button labled "Player Profiles" . (Animation) A "page" flies in and unfurls from the upper right corner (3d page flips effect created in AE played by flash as a frame SEQ). Once it lands filling most of the center of the screen there is a bright flash. As the brightness fades we see the "page" is a bordered box with a BG image of a ball field(End). (Animation) from behind the border in fly small pictures (player head shots with name and jersey number). They stream in and form a circle like a wagon train and the team logo zooms up from infinity to the center of the circle(End). As the user mouses over a player's pic it zooms up a little and gets brighter (like mouseover image nav thumbs for a image slider). If the user clicks on a player's head shot it flips over and scales up to become a text box with a scrollbar. The content of the box is a mix of images, static and dynamic text fields populated from data in an "player info data base" XML file, and some hyperlinks. It's all kept updated dynamicaly with current stats, info and images from the XML file. There is also a "PDF" button that allows the user to open/save/print a PDF of the player's profile (the PDF's are static files for now but the choice of which pdf to retrive is dynamicaly supplied via the XML file.
So.... Is Edge now able to do something like this?  Would it need to be a collection of small animations? could these be "assembled" and connected as an asset in dreamweaver ?
I thought I would approach this from the end (ie click on an image and display a box with dynamic TEXT fileds. ) since that is the most important part, ie displaying the dynamicaly updated profile info.  Sooooo....
Can Edge display a scrolling text box with Images, static text, and html dynamic text in it??

  • Ticker Widget  (or other scrolling text widget) - including HTML??

We are trying to enable a scrolling ticker type widget on a dashboard using Xcelsius 4.5.  We want this to dynamically pull the text from a file and have written a method to provide the XML link to the file data.  We are wondering how to enable HTML to be interpreted in the scrolling text so that it has color, bold, etc.  It would be great to also include links in the HTML scrolling so that the observer could click to follow the link.
I greatly appreciate any help that you can provide,,,,
    Thanks!!
Also, if there are ways enabled in 2008 to do this, pass along the info as well....even though we would really like to do it in 4.5.

    Hi,
To clarify, when you say "ticket type widget" do you mean the ticker component?
If so, in order to get the change in color you will have to utilize the alert settings, which can be found by double clicking on the component and adjusting these setting in the alert tab.
    Hope this helps!

  • Scrolling Text box - won't work in IE

Hey everyone. I'll admit right off the bat that I'm very new
to web design, so I'm sure I've been making some mistakes. I'm much
more of a designer than a coder, but I'm doing the best I can.
I'm wanting to have a scrolling text box embedded on some of
my pages, and have figured out how to do it, thanks largely to
these forums. I've made a CSS tag that has gotten it working
    correctly - sort of.
You can see the page in question at
    http://www.kylehamrick.com/testing.html
It appears to be working correctly in Firefox. However, in
IE, the text just keeps flowing down onto the page, outside of the
allotted area. What am I doing wrong?
Also, is there a way to make this look correct in
Dreamweaver? Once I add text that exceeds the table height, it
breaks up my page, though it still looks fine in the browser. Is
there something I can do to correct this?
Thanks in advance for any assistance with this. I sincerely
    appreciate it.
Any other advice in regards to the page is welcome! Please
keep in mind that I'm very new to this, and it's still under
construction, so don't be TOO harsh... =)
Also, is this all I have to do? It seems that you all have a
way to examine my code and such just by having me post the url, is
that right? Is there anything else you need from me?

Anyone? Sorry, had to give this a bump. Seems it got buried
    VERY quickly.
Again, I'd appreciate any guidance you can provide!

  • Creating scrolling text on an iWeb page

I came across Old Toad's Test site and was suitably impressed by the enhancements detailed on his home page. (I did not post the link as I did not want to breach any confidentiality).
    Q) How do I get scrolling text on an iweb page? By way of an experiment, I have copied the html code from old toads site into a html widget and then selected apply however the text simply displays, it does not scroll.
I have no html experience apart from cutting and pasting code into the widget box and then selecting apply. What am I doing wrong, please can anyone help? Thanks

The scrolling box is on this demo page. As I mentioned it will work with a text, pdf and Word document. I've not been able to get an rtf document to display nor a Pages document. But you can create pdf files from each of those applications and use the pdf version.
If you can live with the default text that comes with using a .txt file it will not have toolbar at the top that a Word or PDF document will and be a lot cleaner. There may be a way to set the font to be displayed in the page but it can't be done in the text document itself. I've not figured out how do to that as yet.

  • Scrolling text at an angle

don't suppose anyone has found a work a round in DPS to have a scrolling text box at an angle, so that the text inside the scrolling are scrolls at the same angle as the text box, and not just vertically.
...just on the remote off chance :-)
    Cheers
    Alistair

    Hi Bob
It's a piece of cake with edge animate, but I just want to do it in indesign for simplicity, (in that I mean OAM's can be really flakey, and the HTML files dont always perform too well on iPad1)
May be next year we will start to see a bit more features added to DPS, if I live that long :-)
    thanks for the reply though!

  • Is it possible to have a scrolling text field in a quiz slide?

I'm trying to build a quiz, and there is too much text that I need to display for the question. Is there any way to implement a scroll-able text field in a quiz slide?

I suppose you don't want to use the default question slides but are creating custom question slides? Which version do you use? Since CP7 there is a Scrolling Text Interaction that you could use, compatible with both SWF and  HTML output.

  • Help finding Mac screensaver with scrolling text (Windows Marquee-esque)

I have been searching the internet somewhat intensely for a scrolling text screensaver for my Macbook. I found an Apple download called "message", but that is wayyy too fancy for me. I can barely even see the text with all of the crazy fonts and weird zooming. The emphasis is not on the text for that screensaver.
Something like the Windows Marquee would be fine, though I am sure somewhere out there is a tricked-out version for Mac. I would just want to be able to read the text clearly, as I intend to use the screensaver to help me to memorize some text.
Maybe I am overlooking an obvious screensaver already loaded on the Macbook, but I am surprised that Tiger does not come with such a screensaver. Any suggestions and links? Thank you

I think you should be able to find something that works for you using Quartz Composer. As an example, here is a link to someone else that was working on horizontal scrolling text. I don't know if their project got completed (or if it's currently included in Quartz Composer) but the .qtz file on this page will load in QuickTime so you can see the results as of this posting.
    http://www.mulle-kybernetik.com/weblog/2005/05/towardshorizontal_scrollingi.html
You get Quartz Composer by downloading the Xcode tools. I'm looking through the example libraries now to see if there's something you could use in the current examples.

  • Styling individual words in scrolling text interaction Captivate 7

Does anybody know if it is possible to style only a portion of text that is being shown within the Captivate 7 scrolling text widget?
For example, at the moment if I select a word that I'd like to make bold the entire content of the text pane is made bold, same with italic and underline.
Any solution needs to be HTML5 compatible.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Sreekanth,
It would definitely be useful if the styling worked properly, afterall, the options are shown in the editor so one can only think that it's a bug. I could even live with it if it accepted HTML markup.
Re: your question, I put together a basic test using the Scrolling Text Interaction populated with lorem ipsum text and it seems to work as desired.
I tested on Windows Vista Pro in Safari, IE9 and Chrome. I also tested on iPad running iOS7. I published in HTML5 only.
The only thing (other than the styling issue mentioned above) was that the text pane seems to sit about 20px lower in the published file than it does on the Captivate stage. Not ideal when laying out individual content screens but not the end of the world to have to nudge the pane up in my working file.

  • Pan & Zoom option in Overlay Creator disabled/grayed out when trying to create scrolling text

    Hi all,
I'm trying to create a scrolling text frame using the Paste Into method. I've created a long text frame, cut it, pasted into another frame. When I go to the Overlay Creator and click Pan & Zoom, it tells me to select a cropped image. I've tried an identical work flow on another computer and it works fine - the pan only radio button is available.
I've reinstalled the CS5 extensions, restarted my Mac and I can't resolve the issue. I only downloaded the extension tools last week, so I'd hope they aren't too out of date now. The About screen tells me I'm on 11.4.2.20111116_m_671500 7.0.3.13
    Any help appreciated.
    Adam

The best place to get the new builds is the DPS Dashboard (https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com). You can also view the detailed help topic about installing:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/digitalpubsuite/using/WS67cb9e293e2f1f60-21ba9a4512e5e5e0b8d-7 ffe.html
If you install the Folio Producer tools and then the Folio Builder panel, you should be able to sign in just fine. Let  us know if you still get the error.

  • Scrolling text box errors in cs4

So i have a scrolling text on a website that im remaking but its utilizing java and for some reason when i moved it over it now says
    "KEYCODEWRONG OR MISSING"
    and
    "NOTICE WRONG OR MISSING"
after the text i add in there its not doing it on the old site but only on the new site any reason why this would be happening?

You can, but it's not very elegant. For one thing, whatever text you have will have to basically be on another webpage addressable by URL in the iframes expression. I guess it would work, though. It's just like having two pages, where maybe one would suffice, you know?
There are some javascript examples that I have come across that would probably work. The HTML tags seem to be unreliable....I have seen some that only work on IE and not for the mozilla based browsers.
Anyways, here's an example of a scrolling iframe....it's the messageboard from my Guestmap...
    http://guestmap.dirtdoog.com
As you can see...it's not great, but it's workable.
