HTML Snippet Question

Hi All,
I'd like to create a mouseover js for two image files. One being the initial image and the second being when it is moused over.
I'm wondering where I would put these image files so they can be read and dealt with by the script/snippet.
Thanks.

You put the images in a folder on the server.
Look at the source of this page.

The <img> element is pasted in the HTML Snippet.
The page itself is created by iWeb. It's name widget0_markup.html

    And i have selected the box offering the code to embed the dates onto my

    <script type='text/javascript'>var widget = new BIT.Widget({"artist":"Anna

    But when I paste the code into the html snippet box in iweb just

  • HTML Snippet widget bug report.

    Dear Apple iWeb 08 Engineers.
    I didn't know where to send this bug report and so I have resorted to this forum. I hope it gets to you somehow.
    When creating a simple HTML Snippet in a page it seems that the piece of code that refers to the newly created widget in the .html for the page has a bug in it. For example, I have a page on my website called "Animation"; it has a simple HTML Snippet the code for which has been tested (by viewing the file widget0_markup.html in a browser). In Animation.html the following line appears
    <iframe id="widget0-frame" src=".//Animationfiles/widget0markup.html" frameborder="0" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>
    Surely the pathname in the "src" option is in error (what the **** is .//?). If I change it to ./ by hand then everything works. Please change this asap, because at the moment I have to go into every page and change it by hand after publishing.
    Many thanks, Marvin.

    Thanks for the reply, but I'm afraid that I'm not convinced.
    In all the flavours of unix that I've ever used ./ is the current directory, ../ is the parent directory and ../../ is the grandparent directory (not .// as you suggest). In any case, the path name of source file in question is ./Animationfiles/widget0markup.html (assuming the code in question is in the file Animation.html) and so going up the tree into the grandparent directory is not what you want to do anyway; the directory Animation_files is always in the same directory as Animation.html and the file widget0_markup.html is saved, by iWeb upon publication, in the directory ./Animation_files.
    In short, I still think it's a bug, but thanks for the advice; I apologise if I am wrong.
    Marvin.

  • Having trouble with html snippets and movies in iweb 09

    Hi I have built a site iweb2.0.4 and recently moved it onto my new machine with iweb 09 on. Basically I have been putting in videos that I have exported for web out of Quicktime. In the past I have simply added an html snippet code like this in <iframe src="http://evileducation.org/stammuraifinalcomp/ReadMe.html" style="width: 340px; height: 285px"; scrolling="no" controller="true" frameborder="0"></iframe>
    I edit the ReadMe.html based on a tutorial I saw and it loads the movie after pressing the "Click to play" button. Now in 09 when I put the code in to the snippet it just shows a Quicktime symbol with a question mark. if you check the link below you can see the videos with the best I have managed to do so far which is get the new movies on but they both autoplay (I have linked in this instance to the 4kb .mov in each folder rather than the readme.html.). I don't want to just drag a video in I would like the options to view on phone or on computer etc and not for them to autoplay. Is there a new/ different way to do this now. Surely it shouldn't be this hard to get the export for web in Quicktime and iWeb to work together? The frustrating thing is if you check the link below the old movies work fine still it's just the 2 new ones. Soz for the long one!

  • IWeb HTML Snippet--Facebook Badge

    I've had a Facebook HTML Snippet on my iWeb home page for over a year and suddenly this week, it quit working. I just see the outline box with a question mark in the middle now. I tried deleting the snippet an republishing it several times. I've repasted the HTML code from Facebook several times into the box. When I click on APPLY, it just doesn't work anymore. I've tried several of the Facebook snippets, and none of them work either. Wonder what's changed?

  • HTML snippet does not show on my webpage?

    the html snippet (from PayPal) shows up just fine in my iWeb page. But it disappears after uploading to my webpage. I use Fetch which is an independent uploader. I have iWeb version 3.0.4 and the iWeb page I am working on creates an "html" document but, because my webpage has been there for years, I always have to rename it is an "htm" document.
    Any help in getting the html snippet to appear on my webpage would be appreciated.
    thanks!

    Wyodor thx for responding.
    Here is the webpage in question with the "htm" ext. There should be two PayPal buttons on this page but they are not there:
    http://www.randymillerprints.com/NEFRbook.htm
    And here is the page with the "html" extension, untouched, as created by iWeb:
    http://www.randymillerprints.com/NEFRbook.html
    Still no PayPal buttons.
    In my desktop folder I kept the "html" file as created by iWeb and also have one with the "htm" extension. From my desktop folder, when I click directly on either file it opens a page in Firefox which correctly shows the PayPal buttons. I've checked to see that all the files from my folder are transferred to the server. All my other pages load correctly.
    Any thoughts on why the PayPal buttons are not showing on that one page?

  • HTML Snippets not working for most browsers

    I have a page with a flash movie in the background, which uses the following code in an HTML snippet:
    <OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#v ersion=6,0,40,0"
    WIDTH="602" HEIGHT="420" id="BGAnimation">
    <PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="BGAnimation">
    <PARAM NAME=quality VALUE=high>
    <PARAM NAME=base VALUE=".">
    <EMBED src="http://www.site.com/somefile" quality=high WIDTH="600" HEIGHT="420"
    NAME="BG Animation" ALIGN="" TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash"
    PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" base=".">
    </EMBED>
    </OBJECT>
    On top of that, I have 3 other snippets, which are buttons, and are coded as follows:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function mouseOver()
    {document.rolloverone.src="rolloverpicture.png"}
    function mouseOut(){
    document.rolloverone.src="offpicture.png"}
    </">
    Of course the locations and file names have been changed, because I can't actually show people the site yet. Anyhow, it all works fine on my computer, in both Safari and Firefox, but tests on Windows computers and older macs have not been successful. The buttons are behind the flash movie (therefore invisible), or they block out part of the Flash movie, depending on which browser is used.
    I should mention two more things: I have done tests where the buttons were placed off to the side of the flash movie, rather than on top of it, and the buttons looked and worked fine in all browsers.
    Also, the PNG files used for the buttons are partly transparent, so you should be able to see the Flash movie below them, even the part of it that falls inside the boundaries of the button.
    I have a feeling the whole "HTML Snippet" thing is not fully compatible, or they just don't like to be stacked on top of each other or something. Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Any help is greatly appreciated. My last million questions have all received helpful answers here. This is a great forum!

    The following codes for mouse rollover effect that I use in this demo page, Mouse Rollover & Animated Gifs, work with Firefox 3.5, Opera and OmniWeb.
    <xmp>
    <blockquote style="padding-left: 50px;"><A HREF="URL to this page"

  • Problems with drop down menu in html snippet

    Hi all,
    I am trying to use a form with a drop down menu so the user can jump directly to the corresponding page. I am using the code generated by http://javascript.internet.com/generators/drop-down-menu.html, and it works correctly when I test it in the "Show me the drop down menu" option on their page.
    This is the html code:
    <!-- ONE STEP TO INSTALL PULLDOWN MENU:
    1. Paste the code into the BODY of your HTML document -->
    <!-- STEP ONE: Copy this code into the BODY of your HTML document -->
    <BODY>
    <!-- Original: Ricocheting ([email protected]) -->
    <!-- Web Site: <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://free.prohosting.com/~ric">http://free.prohosting.com/~ric</a> -->
    <!-- This script and many more are available free online at -->
    <!-- The JavaScript Source!! <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://javascript.internet.com">http://javascript.internet.com</a> -->
    <form name="jump">
    <select name="menu" onChange="location=document.jump.menu.options[document.jump.menu.selectedIndex] .value;" value="GO">
    <option value="">select genre</option>
    <option value="http://www.mygaragebandstudio.com/blues_rock.html">blues/rock</option>
    <option value="http://www.mygaragebandstudio.com/cinematic.html">cinematic</option>

    <option value="http://www.mygaragebandstudio.com/world.html">world</option>
    </select>
    </form>
    When I paste this code into an html snippet in iWeb, my page does not work correctly after publishing to a folder. The jump to location doesn't open its corresponding page. Instead, it defaults to the same page that has the drop down menu, only the menu doesn't appear any more. Instead, I get a "hole" where the drop down menu used to be.
    This is my URL: http://www.mygaragebandstudio.com/jingles.html
    I examined the code of the page with the html snippet generated by iWeb, and to my surprise I couldn't even find the html code of the form with the drop down menu. Where is it?
    Please help!

    Green Star for you!
    JSYK,
    You didn't actually give PressWeb the green star by marking his post as the post that solved your question. You merely marked the question as answered but never actually marked PressWeb's post as being the post that answered your question, which will in effect reward PressWeb with the green star as seen by a green star appearing in the header for his post. I only mention this because you have incorrectly mentioned rewarding PressWeb with a green star.
    Hope that helps.

  • Inserting HTML snippet in signature

    Any easy way to include a countdown timer snippet in a signature block?

    I have questions that you can perhaps answer regarding website building.
    I've designed the Axleart website in iWeb which is Apple's easy to use but hard to customize program.
    http://www.axleart.com
    IWeb uses java-script based photo albums which are nice to navigate through but hard to customize.
    What I want is to add a html snippet (which creates a Paypal or other shopping cart button) in the caption of each photo in the album.
    iWeb doesn't allow me to edit the html or Javascript directly but I can publish the site to a local folder, then edit it there, then upload it from there through ftp to my server.
    I use a program called iWeb SEO Tool to add title tags and keywords and meta tags and google analytics code. It reads from the local folder then adds the info then uploads to the server.
    Each time i re-edit the site in iWeb, iWeb erases all those tags and stuff (I think). Each time I open it in iWeb SEO Tool, it reapplies all the tags and stuff that I have saved in that program.
    This page shows how Cyclosauraus has added paypal buttons to a photo album:
    http://www.cyclosaurus.com/iWeb3Widgets/PayPalBeGone/Photos.html
    So before I try to edit the Javascript per Cyclosaurus' suggerstion, I have an important question:
    If I add paypal buttons into the captions for the photos in the albums, will they get erased each time I re-edit in iWeb and make it too time consuming to be worthwhile? Is there a workaround for this like what iWeb SEO Tool does?

  • Twit this html snippet for iWeb blog?

    Anybody have a text-only HTML snippet for TwitThis that works on an iWeb blog? If you use the one on the TwitThis website, it points to just the HTML snippet, not the entire page. Here's their snippet, FWIW:
    <!-- Begin TwitThis (<a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://twitthis.com/">http://twitthis.com/</a>) -->
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://s3.chuug.com/chuug.twitthis.scripts/twitthis.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    document.write('<a href="javascript:;" onclick="TwitThis.pop();">TwitThis</a>');
    //-->
    </script>
    <!-- /End -->

    Hi Steve,
    Did you find out an answer to this question? I would like to add a "Tweet/Twit This" button to my site as well.
    Thanks.

  • Trouble with HTML snippet

    An HTML snippet does not work once published to a website although it does work in the "view published site" option. Error message "Not Found URL requested". I use iWeb for my website and Firezilla to publish to www. Any solutions please?

    This could be caused by the file in question not being uploaded to the server or an error in the URL.
    You need to use your FTP app to have a look at the files on the server to see if the appropriate one is actually there and in the correct place.

  • Problem Creating an Image Link within an html snippet?

    Hi,
    For some reason I have been unable to link to an image on my Mac by using <img src within an html snippet.
    I have uploaded the photo to my server and created a link with <img src "http://www.domain.com/image.jpg" />.
    However, when I try linking to the image like this - <img src "Users:Documents:Photos:image.jpg" />, when I click apply on the html snippet all I get is a blue dot with a question mark and I have checked that the image is in my Documents and then Photos folder and it is. When I link to it with the server the photo shows.
    Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?
    I would appreciate some help, as I have tried various combinations to link and nothing seems to be working except linking directly from my server and I don't really want to do this at the moment.
    Thanks

    Thanks for that and I did use correct syntax in the html snippet - it was a typo here.
    I did as you suggested and dragged the photo into the Safari browser, after placing the photo on the desktop and it gave me the file name and that showed as file:///Users/My username/Desktop/Image.jpg, so I tried this in my html snippet and did it as so:
    It is still not working for some reason and when I click apply, the photo shows up as a blue square with a question mark in it, although I know the photo is there.
    Why is this? I followed the path, yet when I link to the photo on the server with it works perfectly everytime.
    Thanks

  • HTML snippet _Analytics

    Hi,
    I'm trying to add an HTML snippet with my Google Analytics code and the snippet is not being added to the page. Has anyone an idea of what I need to do to make it publish with the code?
    Perhaps I need to add some before/after tags?? (I'm a bit lost with HTML, but Apple say in the iWeb-09 Help, that you can add any sort of HTML using the snippets.
    iWeb-09 3.01, publishing to iDisk (Web/Sites). I'm syncing iDisk locally.
    Grant

    Okay ... answering my own question. This may well be useful for lots of iWeb-09 users who would like to use Google Analytics on their sites.
    *HTML snippets do indeed work.*
    _The problem :_
    When you choose to insert an HTML Snippet, iWeb-09 always places it in the body of the page. If you try to move it elsewhere, it won't go. Instead, it simply pushes the boundary between the parts to enlarge the body.
    _The solution :_
    You must put the snippet into the page 'Footer'. To move the snippet into the Footer, you must hold down the Command (Apple) key when moving it. That's all.

  • Html snippets with style

    I'm trying to do a (for now) simple form in iweb using the html snippets tool.  The text in the non-form parts of my page use white Calibri of various sizes ("I'm using the "Darkroom" page template).  The static text in my form looks like Times and is black.  So my question:  How do I get the static text in my form to assume the same style(s) as in the rest of the page?
    I'd like to avoid having to redo the form every time that page gets updated so that's why I'm not hand hacking the html, although this may turn out to be the better way to go.
    TIA,
    eric

    What's the code you're using in the HTML snippet. Post it here using the Quote button. Then we can see if font attributes can be added to it.
    Is this a Form Action type of form? See this demo page for examples: Embedding Forms

  • Menu not present and HTML snippet editor not displaying...help

    Hi All,
    I have been building a few websites with iWeb and today i opened the software to find that my menu was a blank box with a small grey dot on the left side.
    i went to adjust some HTML snippets to find that the the pop up editor wasn't appearing.
    so my question is simple. where have these gone? is there a setting to turn off these features?
    the issue is the same on all sites and any new site. when i drag new HTML snippets into a page the box appears like a text box but the editor window isn't there and i can't type in anything.
    the same applies for any widgets from the media library.
    hopefully someone can point out what i'm missing and help me get back on track.
    thanks for your time

    Try the following:
    delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder. You may have already tried this.
    go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    Click to view full size
    launch iWeb and try again.
    If that doesn't help continue with:
    move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
    launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
    go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
    move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.
