Inserting HTML snippet in signature

Any easy way to include a countdown timer snippet in a signature block?

I have questions that you can perhaps answer regarding website building.
I've designed the Axleart website in iWeb which is Apple's easy to use but hard to customize program.
http://www.axleart.com
IWeb uses java-script based photo albums which are nice to navigate through but hard to customize.
What I want is to add a html snippet (which creates a Paypal or other shopping cart button) in the caption of each photo in the album.
iWeb doesn't allow me to edit the html or Javascript directly but I can publish the site to a local folder, then edit it there, then upload it from there through ftp to my server.
I use a program called iWeb SEO Tool to add title tags and keywords and meta tags and google analytics code. It reads from the local folder then adds the info then uploads to the server.
Each time i re-edit the site in iWeb, iWeb erases all those tags and stuff (I think). Each time I open it in iWeb SEO Tool, it reapplies all the tags and stuff that I have saved in that program.
This page shows how Cyclosauraus has added paypal buttons to a photo album:
http://www.cyclosaurus.com/iWeb3Widgets/PayPalBeGone/Photos.html
So before I try to edit the Javascript per Cyclosaurus' suggerstion, I have an important question:
If I add paypal buttons into the captions for the photos in the albums, will they get erased each time I re-edit in iWeb and make it too time consuming to be worthwhile? Is there a workaround for this like what iWeb SEO Tool does?

  • Need to enable html snippet insertion in CS4

    The insert html snippet option is disabled on my insert menu and I need to enable it. Please help. Thanks.

    Hi,
         The website administrator has to enable the permission for inserting HTML snippet, for your role, for the Insert HTML Snippet menu to be enabled. If you are the website administrator, you can follow these steps to enable the Insert HTML snippet menu item:-
    Launch Contribute and select Edit -> Administer Websites, and select your website.
    The Administration dialog for your website will be shown.
    Select a role (for ex, Administrator), and click Edit Role Settings button.
    The Edit Role Settings dialog will be shown.
    In this dialog, select Editing from the left panel, and check the check box for 'Allow HTML Snippet Insertion'.
    For more information, click the following link http://blogs.adobe.com/contribute/2009/06/are_you_a_power_user_try_using.html
    Hope this helps. Cheers.

  • Inserting html code snippets

    I'm using Contribute 3 (version 3.11) and cannot insert html code snippets with this. But I'm rather confused as to what I need to upgrade to to do this.
    On the Adobe Help Center webpage it states that " Advanced Adobe Contribute users can use Adobe Contribute CS3 to add custom HTML code snippets to Contribute pages".
    So what is the difference between my version Contribute 3 and Contribute CS3?  And I know that there is now CS4 also, so assume that would be even better?
    I've spent quite a bit of time on the net trying to get to the bottom of this, and hope that someone will take pity on me and enlighten me!
    Thanks in advance.

    Joe, I'm told it should be in the Insert drop down menu if it has been enabled by the Administrator. Is there someone else involved with your site who could have disabled this function? I know that similar things have happened to me in the past.
    Anyway ... I have some good news to report. I downloaded the free trial of Contribute CS4 from the Adobe website yesterday. It took over an hour to download and I wasn't very optimistic that I would be able to get it to work but I did. There is indeed an "Insert html snippet" function and I have produced a test page with a booking engine on it as a result of inserting some code. I have not yet tested it with audio and video files. I will have the use of the free trial for 30 days so will be able to carry out some more tests before taking the plunge and upgrading.
    If you have the minimum system requirements I would say it is worth your giving this a try, Joe

  • IWeb HTML Snippet NOT WORKING.

    Hello!
    Whenever I open iWeb and try to insert HTML Snippet, the proper HTML rectangle that has < H T M L > and a map of the world in the background appears, just like that. No edit box has appeared. When I double click it, a blue outline appears, but still no edit box to insert the HTML code into.
    I've tried removing com.apple.iWeb.plist and also com.apple.iapp.plist or something along those lines, and also removing the iWeb folder from Caches, and nothing has worked.
    I'm using iWeb 2.0.4, obviously.

    Did you purchase iLife 09 in your attempt to upgrade to iWeb 3? If not that's why you couldn't run any of the iWeb 3 updaters. You have to have iWeb 3.0 installed from the iLife disk installed.
    What was unsuccessful about trying to reinstall iWeb 2? Did you delete all receipts with iWeb in the file name located in the HD/Library/Receipts folder before reinstalling iWeb? If no, delete them and the application and reinstall.

  • Deleting HTML Snippets

    I'm using Contribute CS3 on a Windows Vista Home Premium
    platform to test inserting html snippets into a sports web page. I
    want to change out the code periodically to provide fresh content.
    I can get the snippet to work just fine, and I can see the icon for
    the snippet when I edit the page. However, when I try to delete it,
    I get the following message:
    "You cannot perform this action in this region of the page."
    I've tried deleting the table cell into which it was inserted
    as well as the entire table row, and it just gives me the same
    message. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of it?

    also seeing this on my end, The one thing you can do is try
    choosing Action>Edit in External application> and then remove
    the html code that way in Notepad. It does seem a bit wonky that
    you can't select and remove the html snippet by selecting it..

  • Insert HTML and export to PDF problem (ID CS6)

    Greetings,
    A new feature in Indesign CS6 is to insert HTML snippets in an Indesign document via the Object > Insert HTML option.
    This will insert a frame in the page containing the rendered HTML content.
    There are several issues that I have encountered using this feature in Indesign CS6. Can anyone advise if these are bugs/ux issues and provide any alternatives/solutions.
    1) After inserting any HTML content (even the default "This is an HTML snippet"), when I try to export to PDF format (Interactive or Print), the  HTML content or rather its frame container is rendered in black. I've noticed that the HTML content is exported as a image so all I get are black rectangles.
    There is no problem when I try to export to HTML format.
    2) There seems to be a paste size limit in the Insert HTML text area/field as I can only paste 16566 characters of HTML code. (Haven't checked yet if the limit is in characters or tags or newlines).
    3) How can you set such that the HTML object frame will span multiple pages for cases where the HTML content is larger than the height of the page? Since it is not a text frame, I can't find a threading feature or a possible workaround. Or is the "Insert HTML" feature not really applicable for PDF export workflows but only for epubs?
    Thanks

    Oh ok. I guess direct HTML import is still not possible in ID CS6 (either import as XML or convert to DOC/RTF) for PDF export.
    Thanks

  • HTML Snippet won't work.

    I am creating a new site on iWeb 08. I want to have a snippet of my "Blog" page in a box on my "Home" page.
    I published the site, went online and copied the view source (HTML Code). I then went back to iWeb and pasted the HTML Code into the snippet box and applied. I can see the outline boxes from the Blog page but no other information. I called Apple and they said what I am doing should work, but it doesn't. I'm not very familiar with HTML code so Cut and Paste is the best I can do.

    Hello,
    If I understand it correctly. That is what I did with my cat's website :
    On here main page http://www.site49.eu/Taxi/Welcome.html
    you'll see on the right bottom "My latest blog entry' and an iFrame (insert HTML snippet) showing only the latest blog entry. (function scroll.to)
    Remark : it doesn't work well with Firefox.
    I'm not behind my iWeb computer right now.
    In the meantime, can you post the iFrame code you used ?
    Kind regards,
    Leo

  • HTML Snippet Bug?

    Yesterday after I downloaded and installed Ct-CS3, I created
    a blog post and was able to use the Insert > HTML Snippet
    option. Today, I tried to do that, and the option is grayed out. Is
    there a bug or am I doing something wrong? Anyone experience this
    yet?

    New realization: I connect to four blogs. Three of them, I
    can use the HTML Snippet option. The fourth, I can't. I even
    started a new draft in the one that isn't working, moved it to
    another blog, and the option appeared. Moved it back to the
    original blog, the option disappeared.
    Now I'm really confused.

  • Ability to insert HTML code snippets not available

    Supposedly I can insert HTML into a file in Contribute but
    that option is grayed-out and can't be used. Does anyone know why
    that capability would not be functioning. I have the most recent
    version of Contribute and use it on a PC

    In the main menu go to:
    1. Edit, Administer Websites
    2. Users and Roles, click Edit Role Settings
    3. go to Editing
    4. check 'Allow HTML snippets insertion...' (last option)

  • Has anyone gotten "Insert HTML" java applet snippet code to work in Adobe Muse?

    I am trying to insert some code into a page created with Adobe Muse. The insert HTML code snippet, i'm trying to insert is a java.jar file that plays a virtual tour file for the inside of a home. After inserting and then publishing to Catalyst, when viewed in IE, I get a blank box where the applet is suppose to be and it says error.
    Has anyone done something similar and been successful in the past?

    I didn't seem to get any answers, but I think I figured out the problem. Business Catalyst does not support setting file permissions on .jar files (Java Applets) and potentially other kinds of files that I needed to get loaded so that's why I got a generic error.
    The code snippet, I used, worked when I uploaded the site to another hoster that supports distributing .jar files.

  • Problems setting 'allow HTML snippet insertion' in Contribute 4

    I am trying to set the administrator option to allow insertion of HTML snippets (as described here). But the dialog box to change the settings does not include an "Allow HTML Snippet Insertion" checkbox.
    Any advice? Is this to do with the version of Contribute I'm using? Or is there some other administrator setting I need to set first?

    Hi ravster.
    Thanks for the suggestions. I had read the Arch NFS HowTo and did as you suggested get rcpinfo for the server machine. The Libranet NFS server is configured rather different since the NFS daemons are built into the default kernel.
    Since I needed to complete the transfer immediately, I gave up for now trying to set up NFS and used netcat (!) instead to transfer the files from the Libranet laptop to the Arch workstation. The laptop will be converted to Arch Linux soon so I think I'll be able to clear things up soon.  I haven't had any problems setting up NFS with homogeneous (i.e., all Arch or all Libranet) computer combinations.
    Thanks again.

  • WEB WIDGET - HTML SNIPPET  how to post myspace music in iWeb

    i'm making a site for a band. i'm using the *web widget- html snippet* to insert the myspace player from a band. the bands site is http://www.myspace.com/mod39lone.
    this is the code i'm putting in :
    <embed src="http://lads.myspace.com/music/musicplayer.swf?n=aHR0cDovL211c2ljLm15c3BhY2 UuY29t&t=wz7NYVvdN1sD5sZn5jwqhteIJEBAWtU7cGxSvblOZr59VYuvhFOEuaUs29mG1lCNKsOUiB4 00Vl6iAOogScxHQ==&u=LTE=&a=0&d=MTc4MzA0MTgxXjExODc3NDE1MjU=" quality=high bgcolor=#FFFFFF width="450" height="345" name="mp3player" align=""type="application/x-shockwave-flash" FlashVars="culture=nl-NL"pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplay er"> </embed>
    when i'm editing iWeb, the player shows up and plays the music and everything is fine! but when i publish the site, it says "Movie not loaded" when you click on it.
    the site i'm currently working on is still being worked on, but i made an extra page to show whoever could help me. the link is:
    http://web.me.com/henreegee/IamTokyo/Blank.html

    That method can be done using iFrame code in an HTML snippet. You need to upload the Family Matters - Computer.m4v file to your server and link to it there via an HTML snippet and iFrame code. An example is in this demo page along with the code: QT movies via iFrame.
    There are other ways to add the movie (the full one Family Matters - Computer.m4v.
    One is to upload the file to your server and linking to it as shown in this demo page: Opening Item in a New, Precisely Sized Window.
    The method you posted is explained in this tutorial: Old Toad's Tutorial #18 - Adding Movie/Video File to iWeb Page via Export for Web in Quicktime Player. To see the edits click on the buttons in steps 5a and 5b.

  • HTML Snippet does not exist as a Widget option in iWeb 09

    I have iWeb 09 on my machine. I'm trying to insert an HTML Snippet onto a page so i can drop in the code for a XSPF player.
    When i choose "Show Media", under Widgets there are only four, and HTML Snippet isn't one of them. I only have:
    MobileMe Gallery
    Google AdSense
    iSight Photo
    iSight Movie
    I also don't have the YouTube widget, the Google Map Widget--these i only know about by looking in support and seeing that these should all be there.
    Any thoughts as to how i can get HTML Snippet available in my media widgets? My site is almost completed and ready to publish. Without this feature it will be pointless to publish at all.
    Many thanks for any suggestions!
    Peter

    Can you post the code you are using so that we can see what the problem is?

  • IWeb, HTML Snippet, and MySQL via GoDaddy (db already built)

    I have a site (zigcodes.info) that is hosted by GoDaddy. I built the site using iWeb. No complaints there. I have a MySQL database and table built to store codes added by users. There is also one called "hit list" on another page, but I haven't finished coding it. I need to solve this problem before I can finish that page. So far, I've successfully linked my submit forms to the database. When a user adds a code, it does indeed populate into the database (hooray for small miracles).
    Of course, doing this dumps the user onto a blank white page, but I think I can fix that with a redirect at the end of the php file used by the form. My problem comes in when I try to display the codes in the database on my page. I know how to query the db using SELECT * FROM, but I can't figure out what to do with the data after that.
    I'm having a heck of a time getting the HTML Snippet widget correct in iWeb. I've seen suggestions that are all over the place, but can't seem to get any to work. I'm told that <iframe> may be a viable solution, but I am at a loss as to how. Honestly, my site is very simple and I don't need fancy functionality. All I need is a list, in table form would be nice but really not necessary, of the 30 names/codes most recently added to the db by users of my site. I can get the echo command to print headers for my data, but not the data itself.
    Will <iframe> work, and if so, how? If not, what's my best bet? Should I go with a table in the HTML Snippet widget, with tags like  <? echo "$code"; ?> inserted into my<td></td> content? Or, would it be best to use the <script src="activecodes.php"></script> solution with an external php file? Or am I way off on all of these? I do know that iWeb won't do it for me with it's own magic, but it seems like there should still be a way to add code into the HTML Snippet widget and display the db data on the iWeb designed page. Help?

    Yeah, the code you suggested isn't live now because I always remove changes to my code that affect no change. It makes for a cleaner build later. Here are some variations of your sugestion that I tried:
    <div align="center"><form name="newcodes" action="newcode.php" method="post">
    <input type="text" name="newcode"/>
    <br />
    <input type="submit" value="Add it!" />
    <input type="hidden" name="good_url" value="http://www.zigcodes.info/" />
    </form>
    </div>
    AND
    <div align="center"><form name="newcodes" action="newcode.php" method="post">
    <input type="hidden" name="good_url" value="http://www.zigcodes.info/" />
    <input type="text" name="newcode"/>
    <br />
    <input type="submit" value="Add it!" />
    </form>
    </div>
    AND
    <div align="center"><form name="newcodes" action="newcode.php" method="post">
    <input type="text" name="newcode"/>
    <input type="hidden" name="good_url" value="http://www.zigcodes.info/" />
    <br />
    <input type="submit" value="Add it!" />
    </form>
    </div>
    I even tried this because I saw other people suggesting it in similar forums:
    <div align="center"><form name="newcodes" action="newcode.php" method="post">
    <input type="text" name="newcode"/>
    <br />
    <input type="submit" value="Add it!" />
    <input type="hidden" name="redirect" value="http://www.zigcodes.info/" />
    </form>
    </div>
    All of the above produce the exact same, unwanted result: a blank white screen with the URL of my .php file (the one that handles the form post).
