HTML Tags in data field

Does Documaker support reading and applying HTML tags in data fields? For example, we are publishing a list of questions that are being passed to me from the database. These questions contain embedd HTML formatting tags:
Are you a member or do you intend to become a member of the armed forces <.i>including reserves</.i>?
** Please note: I had to add the . into the tag because the forum was formatting italics tag appropriately.
I want Documaker to read the sting and apply the formats that the tags specify.
Any help would be appreciated.

    My requirement is to extract a <tag>data</tag> from a HTML/XML string

    And that is a critical distinction to make. HTML parsing is horribly complex. XML is quite easy. For HTML you have to code your own parser in PL/SQL. XML can be parsed using the XMLTYPE class/data type in PL/SQL.
    So if you need to find a single specific tag in HTML - I would not try to treat it as XML. I may not even try to use regular expressions.
    I would do a basic substring search for the start of the tag. Read the data following the tag. Ensure that there are no nested or embedded tags in the data. Until the end tag is read. Because HTML is that much abused - and because that is an accepted norm as parsers used by browsers deals with that abuse without complaining.
    Proper HTML is mostly a myth in my experience of "screen scraping" web servers for data extraction as they do not have web services supplying the data.

  • Oracle function to strip HTML tags in data

    Hi, may I know if there is any oracle function that can strip HTML tags from the data? I am currently using Oracle 9i. Therefore is unable to use the RegExp_Replace functionality provided by Oracle 10g.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks a lot!

    I found this function:
    function str_html ( line in varchar2 ) return
    varchar2 is
    x varchar2(32767) := null;Let's hope whoever uses this doesn't want to deal with large XML's.
    This question would have been better asked over in the XDB forum. All depends whether there is a schema available to describe the XML, what version of the database etc. With a schema, the schema could be registered into the Oracle 10g database and that used to create relational tables automatically, from where you can load in the XML files. Loads of information available on the XDB forum, most likely in the FAQ's on there.

  • HTML DB  Validate date field

    I create a nondatabase date field (date picker (MM/DD/YYYY) and format mat as MM/DD/YYYY. I want to validate this date field to make sure the entry is valid. mm/DD/YYYY.
    I create a validation for the field, but it did not display the error message in the validation, instead it complains that the character is in numeric field with an OK button.
    Why?
    Is there a Is_date function around?

    There are 2 ways to do this
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=24317:239
    1. Put readonly="true" in the Form Element attributes for the date picker item. This way the user is forced to select from the date picker calendar and so invalid dates cannot be entered.
    2. If user wants to enter the date or select from the calendar, put a validation as Function body returning error text as in http://i1.tinypic.com/rlgi68.jpg
    Hope this helps.

  • HTML tags not displayed when using Data Template

    Hi All...
    I'm developing a BI Publisher report in which one of the columns is a clob data type. I'm using an xsl stylesheet to format the data present in the clob column.
    I've developed the report using data template as the data set. The problem is the clob column which has the HTML tags where not displayed properly...for example
    the tag starting with
    <
    is replaced with
    & lt;
    I did a couple of searches in this forum and in tim's blog but couldn't find a proper solution...

    I came to know that data template cannot generate proper HTML tags for release 10.1.3.2. Is there any work around way to get the proper HTML tags when data template is used as a data set?
    Thanks in Advance...

    Issue could be with the data that is selected in the other environment. It generally happens that the ALV will not give the same results as in the DEV in the other systems.
    Possible errors could be the control break statements in the loop...endloop block. validate the correctness of the control break stmts if any.

I found some HTML and Javascripts in SYSTEM and BBPGLOBAL services (named as calendar)but not sure which ones to use if anyone used date functionality or even have access to Standard SAP ITS screens that already have date field with calendar fuctionality can you help???????????????
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi
    Let me first thank you for the quick response and timely help you provided calendar popup works great but one minor issue i am not able to click on the date entry and bring the field back into the field not sure if this funcitonality is in show_calendar.
    I would really appreciate if you get time to look at below i am almost there with your help......thanks again
    Here are the steps I did
    I have a HTML page  SAPLBBP_SC_UI_ITS screen 300 in SRM module , I created a new HTML page (zcalendar.html) in the same internet service BBPSC01 as suggested and I included in my HTML page SAPLBBP_SC_UI_ITS screen 300 and also I added below code to add a icon and a href call to the show_calendar function.
    Code works great I get the popup but when I double click on the date it is not selecting the date into the field back .
    Any thoughts??????

  • Need to copy Data from a specific Html Tag

    Hello,
    I am trying to use CF to access website and capture data from a specific tag to the end of that tag and store same in a csv file or database.
    The tag based search of an open file is where I am not able to get any head way. Any one has done this?

    You'll need to use a regular expression for that. CF supports regular expressions with the REFind, REFindNoCase and REReplace functions. Here's an example of using regular expressions to capture the value within an HTML tag:
    http://www.javamex.com/tutorials/regular_expressions/example_scraping_html.shtml
    It's in Java, but the syntax for regular expressions is the same in CF.

  • Interactive Report with html tags --- Data saved in Excel with html tags

    Hello,
    I am using APEX 4.0. I have an interactive report that displays some of the columns bold and / or colors using html tags. As an example,
    SELECT
    '''<font color="green"><b>'' || SERIAL_NUMBER || ''</b></font>'' SERIAL_NUMBER,'||chr(10)||
    'PRODUCT_NAME,'||chr(10)||
    '''<font color="teal"><b>'' || PRODUCT_DESC || ''</b></font>'' DESC,'||chr(10)||
    'QUANTITY,'||chr(10)||
    FROM
    <Table name>
    At runtime, the Interactive Report displays the fonts, colors correctly; however, when I save the data of the Interactive Report in an Excel format, it saves the Html tags along in the EXCEL spreadsheet. For example, the column serial number from the above SELECT statement is extracted in an Excel column as ---
    <font color="green"><b>123456789</b></font>
    Is there another way to render the column data so that extracted data will not display the HTML tags or is removing the html font color tags from the SELECT statement the only option?
    Thanks in advance.
    Ed

  • TFS 2012 - WI Query in TFS Web Access - History field contents appear with html tags presented as text

    When History field is selected as a column to be displayed in a WI query result, its contents are displayed with the HTML tags as if they where text, e.g. <p> contents </p>...
    This occurs when query is run in web access contents in IE and when result is sent via email from within TFS (there's a button for this purpose).
    However, in Visual Studio 2012 the same History Column contents are shown without the tags, as one would expect.
    Furthermore, when one clicks on Open In Microsoft Office, for this query results in VS, and selects result in Excel, the History column in the Excel appears empty.
    The only way we found to bypass this issue for now, it to mark all the query result lines in VS, and right click for "print selected list..." to a virtual PDF printer. This way the result looks reasonably ok when History field is included.
    Kindly advise, Thank u very much.

    Hi Moital,
    Thanks for your post.
    As far as I know history content will display with the HTML tags if there’s multiple lines in content, and History content not support show in Excel, that’s by design in TFS Server.
    As Clementino said, you can submit this scenario in connect site, Microsoft engineers will evaluate them seriously.

  • [RB 6i] Format text in the field using HTML-tags. Or another way...

    If some fields of tables in database contain html tags such as 'H2O' (here is html tag 'sub') or 'some<b>text</b>'(here is html tag 'b') how can I to make Report Builder 6i to understand these tags or at least don't show them?
    Or how in another way can I format a part of text inside the field?
    thanx before
    Max

    Hi Maxim,
    If the output is PDF, the only way is to filter the incoming values yourself. You will need to create a PL/SQL column and remove the HTML markup tags. This, of course, leaves you without attributes you wanted in text (ie: the no "Bold" characters). You can still do this in with the same report basing the output from the PL/SQl formula column on the "desformat" input parameter.
    Reports doesn't have any "markup" capability. ie: A field only has one font & one colour. You can have multiple fonts for boilerplate text but, again, only a single colour.
    Robin.

  • Pulling Data Containing HTML TAGS

    We have a DB application that allows users to freely enter data. Our problem is that if a users enters HTML tags as their data and submits it to our DB, we are able to encode the response and store the data in it's original context (a requirement).
    Now, here is the problem. When the data is pulled out from the DB and displayed on the HTML page, if the user had submitted HTML tags, our page doesn't display the HTML tags but rather their browser interprets the tag.
    We do not want the browser to interpret the tag, just want the actual characters displayed.
    so if a user enteres <B> HELLO WORLD</B>
    we want the less than and greater than signs to be displayed..not the phrase HELLO WORLD to be displayed in bold.
    Any help is appreicated.

    Darn,
    When you pull the string from the DB, you would be able to pass it through a simple 'filter' method that converts important HTML characters to the display element equivelents.
    For example, you would want to change all < tags to &lt; all & to &amp; and quotes to &quot; This might just about do everything you would need.
    It might be as easy as doing a few
    dbString = dbString.replaceAll("<", "&lt;");
    etc...

  • HTML tags in TLF (slice to 2 text fields)

    i create on stage TLF and i slice to 2 text fields
    i put text to TLF in actions tText.htmlText = "Some text...."
    if text is too much, text from 1 text field is not displayed
    in 2 text field. All is displayed only in 1 text field
    if i add text from tText.text is displayed in 1 and 2 text field.
    how to make to text with html tags displayed in 1 and 2 text field?

    This looks to me like a bug in TLFTextField. I'll report this bug to the Flash Authoring team.
    You could use this as a workaround - find all of the containers that should be attached to the flow, set htmlText then reattach the containers (past the first):
    var controllerArray:Array = new Array()
    for (var i:int = 0; i < myText.textFlow.flowComposer.numControllers; i++)
         controllerArray[i] = myText.textFlow.flowComposer.getControllerAt(i);
    myText.htmlText = "some text that should be flowing into the other containers";
    for (i = 1; i < controllerArray.length; i++)
         myText.textFlow.flowComposer.addController (controllerArray[i]);
    myText.textFlow.flowComposer.updateAllControllers();

    I'm not sure why you would do it the way you have it implemented in 3 select lists.
    Why not use a Item Type of Date Picker, and let the user use the pop-up Date Picker to select the date.
    You code has some fatal flaws:
    1) You can't see any data before 2000
    2) You can't see any data past 2010 (probably not an issue now)
    3) It's possible to specify February 31 as a date
    Using the built-in Date Item type will eliminate these issues and at the same time, make your UI more streamlined.
    Thanks,
