Running a Report on Reports 10g

Hello,
I am new to developersuite10g and trying to create a simple report based on below query
select * from dept;
I have saved the report as "test.jsp"
Now I am trying to run the report on web but for some reason its not displaying any browser.I have started the OC4J instance.
I want to know as to how do you run the report from report builder on web.

Hi Folks,
I have a requirement to install a standalone reports server ie. reports6i which comes with developer 2000 on a HPUX machine. I don't find developer 2000 software for HPUX in oracle site. I think it is superseeded with new versions, so i have downloaded Developer suite 10g (9.0.4).
But i have a question whether i can run 6i reports in the 10g developer suite. Most of the 6i reports are from 11i ebusiness suite instance. Please advise.

Discoverer Viewer(4i) to run Discoverer-reports(10g) with Apps(11.5.0)

We are running Discoverer Viewer(4i) to run Discoverer-Workbooks(10g) with Apps(11.5.0) but we are facing error like 'Unable to fetch workbook' .I guess this is b'coz EUL created in 10g not getting compatible with 4i Discoverer Viewer.
If this is the problem what is my next step?
Can anyone plz help me in detail.

Hi
You would need to upgrade everything to the same level if you want to open Discoverer 10g workbooks. This means your EUL will need to be upgraded and you will need to abandon the 4i server and upgrade to the 10g server.
I would encourage you to do so anyway because 10g is much better than 4i.

Display correct error in REPORTS 10g?

When I run a report 10g with error, always occur the error ORA-01403, but not display the correct error.
In Reports6i, the information error display correct.
Exists some way to show the correct error ???

DB authentication for Reports 10g

Following is our environment
Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2.3.0) - Infrastructure and Middle Tier on same node.
Oracle Database 10g R2 (10.2.0.1.0)
Current Situation
We are running Forms/Reports 10g that were upgraded from 6i Client-Server environment. Everything works fine except for one major issue ie
In our reports server we have defined users with explicit grants on schema specific objects to run reports. This configuration is something I am not comfortable with.
Following is our requirement.
To somehow enable SSO keeping in mind that each DB user has his own set of privileges granted to him via either a role or explicitly. So when he is logged in once to the the application via Forms and try to run some reports, permissions on the objects(tables) called in the report should be checked on the DB level for that particular user unlike what we are doing currently ie created one main user with permissions on all schema objects.
For example
DB User xyz
Grants SELECT ON scott.emp
DB User abc (currently used in the config file of reports server)
Grants SELECT ON scott.emp, scott.dept, scott. xxx, scott.yyy etc
So in above example, in 6i environment, even if user xyz tries to run a report that requires permissions on SCOTT.DEPT table, it will not since user XYZ doesnt have permissions to view DEPT table under SCOTT schema but in 10g this XYZ user will be able to run the report successfully and would be able to view the records. This should be fixed.
Any opinion, comments, links are most welcome.

Form & reports 10g VS Form & reports 6 ???

Hi All,
We have customers that running Form & reports 10g application and they (must) use IAS 10g for deployment.
But now they are considering to downgrade to Form & Reports 6 (client-server). So they put the Form & Reports to a folder on a server and map the folder to the clients.
Actually what are the benefits of running Form and Reports 10g on IAS and Browser compared to running Form & Reports 6 on client server mode ?

Hi Xto,
If you use Forms 10g in web mode, thin clinets can be used and hardware cost can be reduced. Only you need to have good application server.
And you can access the application from browser and no need of installation/setup in client machiens. so maintanance cost also can be reduced.
These are some of benefits while running in web mode.

Not Able to run Report 10g through Web Layout Option

I have installed Oracle Developer 10g on my Laptop, I am able to run form, Report(In paper layout) successfully but when I try to run Report in Web Layout Mode, I am getting following error, Is there any setting is missing, could you provide some hint that would help me in resolving my issue.

Running Reports 10g on Apps Server

We have a Windows 2003 apps server running Oracle Forms and Reports 10g.
We are having a problem running reports in Oracle 10g, and believe it to be something to do with the configuration files. Currently, we can run the test report through Enterprise Manager using both the default reports service and the one that we have created. However we are unable to run our own reports through forms.
To check that there was nothing wrong with our forms, we copied one of the reports into the â¦\forms10g\reports\samples\demo folder to see if we could run it through Enterprise Manager. However, we get the following error:
Rep-110: Unable to open file â¦â¦
Rep-1070: Error while opening or saving a document.
Rep-0110: Unable to open file â¦...
We then renamed the test.rdf file and tried to run that. Again we got the above message. Next we tried again to run test.rdf, even though this no longer existed, and the report ran. This implied that it isn't actually running the report, but has the report output stored somewhere, and it just displays this.
No matter how we try to run reports, and with which reports service, we always get the above error.
So why is it that no reports will run, not even the test one when it is renamed? Is there a configuration setting somewhere?

Hope YOu are fine.
We have running Oracle Forms and Reports Services 10g on Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
The Application Works fine, and reports are generated successfully.
But when we access the same application by using either Linux OS (RHEL 4.0, Ubuntu 6),
The forms works fine but Linux OS could not run the report.
This seems to be a configuration problem.
Any Clues.

I want to run a report from desktop (report which is developed in oracle report developer 10g), for that i have created shortcut. But when i double click on that shortcut it gives me followig error
"Report name, database connection, and reports server name (unless using local runtime, i.e. reports server call is local) properties must be specified for successful report run"
the path which is defined in the shortcut of report is as follow
D:\DevSuiteHome_1\BIN\rwsxu.exe rcptreg_dt userid/password@ORC

Hello,
You can use rwrun. Since 9.0.2 , it is no more possible to DISPLAY the output on the screen , but you can generate a file (HTML , PDF , RTF , ..) and then open the file generated.
EX: rwrun report=c:\temp\myrep.rdf destype=file desname=c:\temp\myrep.pdf desformat=pdf userid=scott/tiger@mydb P_1=param1_value ...

iam using Javabean in oracle 10g forms to tun the report....
First create a block with a name control and add an bean to it with a name
userid_bean.click the proerty of the bean and changes its width and height
so that u cannot see it when u run the particular form.

How to run a report to a file ascii in forms/report 10G

We have an application in form an report 6i and we are going to translate it in 10G dev suite.
We have a problem with any forms modules which run report to file ascii with particular format.
After these files are send to printer o machine with host comand (we use the webutil for the host comand).
How can we run tese reports to file ascii ?

if you print a Reports to the file system then this happens on the server. Your options are
a) Run the Reports with destype=cache and have the user printing it from the Browser

c) You use Run_Report_Object() and print the reports to a network printer next to the user
