HTML DB  Validate date field

I create a nondatabase date field (date picker (MM/DD/YYYY) and format mat as MM/DD/YYYY. I want to validate this date field to make sure the entry is valid. mm/DD/YYYY.
I create a validation for the field, but it did not display the error message in the validation, instead it complains that the character is in numeric field with an OK button.
Why?
Is there a Is_date function around?

There are 2 ways to do this
http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=24317:239
1. Put readonly="true" in the Form Element attributes for the date picker item. This way the user is forced to select from the date picker calendar and so invalid dates cannot be entered.
2. If user wants to enter the date or select from the calendar, put a validation as Function body returning error text as in http://i1.tinypic.com/rlgi68.jpg
Hope this helps.

  • HTML Tags in data field

    Does Documaker support reading and applying HTML tags in data fields? For example, we are publishing a list of questions that are being passed to me from the database. These questions contain embedd HTML formatting tags:
    Are you a member or do you intend to become a member of the armed forces <.i>including reserves</.i>?
    ** Please note: I had to add the . into the tag because the forum was formatting italics tag appropriately.
    I want Documaker to read the sting and apply the formats that the tags specify.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • How to validate date fields in the flash form

    i want to validate the date fields to make sure the values
    are not greater than today's date and from-date is less than or
    equal to to-date in the flash form. Does the actionscript have a CF

    Thanks

    I finally (after much reading up on actionscript) figured out
    my problem with date validation...which was similar to yours...
    I posted the solution I found for my AS date validation issue

  • Calendar Functionality for a date field in HTML of  a ITS service

    Hi
    I am working with SRM EBP module we want to add date help(with calendar function) to existign date fields in Shopping cart and PO screens . I found some HTML and Javascripts in SYSTEM and BBPGLOBAL services (named as calendar)but not sure which ones to use if anyone used date functionality or even have access to Standard SAP ITS screens that already have date field with calendar fuctionality can you help???????????????
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi
    Let me first thank you for the quick response and timely help you provided calendar popup works great but one minor issue i am not able to click on the date entry and bring the field back into the field not sure if this funcitonality is in show_calendar.
    I would really appreciate if you get time to look at below i am almost there with your help......thanks again
    Here are the steps I did
    I have a HTML page  SAPLBBP_SC_UI_ITS screen 300 in SRM module , I created a new HTML page (zcalendar.html) in the same internet service BBPSC01 as suggested and I included in my HTML page SAPLBBP_SC_UI_ITS screen 300 and also I added below code to add a icon and a href call to the show_calendar function.
    Code works great I get the popup but when I double click on the date it is not selecting the date into the field back .
    Any thoughts??????

    Please do the needful how to do it.If you want to validate at entry level then use When-Validate-Item trigger and check the input and show message. Like
    If :quentity <0 then
    message('do not enter negative value');
    message('do not enter negative value');
    raise form_trigger_failure;

    I'm not sure why you would do it the way you have it implemented in 3 select lists.
    Why not use a Item Type of Date Picker, and let the user use the pop-up Date Picker to select the date.
    You code has some fatal flaws:
    1) You can't see any data before 2000
    2) You can't see any data past 2010 (probably not an issue now)
    3) It's possible to specify February 31 as a date
    Using the built-in Date Item type will eliminate these issues and at the same time, make your UI more streamlined.
    Thanks,
    - Scott -

  • How can I validate a date field in Portal Forms

    I have a date field in portal forms that I want to perform validation on to make sure it's in the proper format before being accepted (mm/dd/yyyy). How can I validate against that field?

    Hi Ben,
    I took the time to test and revise. This is code that will validate a date entry (format MM/DD/YYYY). Just paste this in the "Before the start of the form..." window of the Additional PL/SQL code section of the form. Then add validateDate(); into the onBlur event window of the field in question. Replace the CYCLE_END_DATE with the field name in question.
    HTP.P('
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE=javascript>
    function validateDate() {
    var ddObj;
    var mmObj;
    var yyObj;
    var day;
    var mon;
    var year;
    var field_val;
    var field_name;
    for (var j=0; j < document.forms[0].elements.length; j++) {
    field_name = document.forms[0].elements[j].name;
    field_val = document.forms[0].elements[j].value;
    if (field_name.substring(field_name.indexOf(''DEFAULT.'') + 8, field_name.lastIndexOf(''.01'')) == ''CYCLE_END_DATE'') {
    var delimPos = field_val.search(/\//i);
    if (delimPos < 0)
    alert(''Invalid date entry! Please enter in MM/DD/YYYY format. '' +
    ''e.g, Dec 21, 2003 would be entered as 12/21/2003'');
    else
    if (field_val.length != 10)
    alert(''Invalid date entry! Please Please enter in MM/DD/YYYY format. '' +
    ''e.g, Jan 1, 2003 would be entered as 01/01/2003'');
    else {
    month = field_val.substring(0, field_val.indexOf(''/''));
    day = field_val.substring(field_val.indexOf(''/'') + 1, field_val.lastIndexOf(''/''));
    year = field_val.substring(field_val.lastIndexOf(''/'') + 1, 10);
    /* Need to subtract 1 from value because in Javascript, January begins with 0
    and ends with 11 for December */
    month = month - 1;
    ddObj = new Date(year, month, day);
    mmObj = new Date(year, month, day);
    yyObj = new Date(year, month, day);
    if (ddObj.getDate(ddObj.setDate(day)) != day)
    alert(''Invalid day!'');
    if (mmObj.getMonth(mmObj.setMonth(month)) != month)
    alert(''Invalid month!'');
    if (mmObj.getYear(mmObj.setYear(year)) != year)
    alert(''Invalid year!'');

  • Adf-Struts/JSP/BC4J- and setting date fields from jsp

    Hi,
    I'm working with the new ADF Frameworks (JDev 9.0.5.1) and ran into some questions regarding exception handling using BC4J, Struts and JSPs.
    I have a DATE column in database and an entity and VO with a datefield with type oracle.jbo.domain.Date.
    My JSP shows a textfield and the user should enter a valid date. Everything fine, until date is of wrong format or contains illegal characters...
    Problem:
    ADF tries to do a setAttribute on the datefield in VO row which expects a parameter with type oracle.jbo.domain.Date. When the user entered e.g. "NiceWeather" as date, I get an IIlegalArgumentException while converting to the correct Date format. This exception isn't thrown by bc4j as AttrValException and therefore my JSP renders a global error instead of a message directly behind the date field.
    I tried to validate the datefield in my DataForm and in my Action in the validateModelUpdates() method, but with no fitting solution.
    Any ideas how to validate a datefield with adf/struts/jsp/bc4j?
    Thanks for your help!
    Torsten.

    Torsen - In the first instance I'd recommed that you try and handle it declaritively using the Struts Validator Framework . See http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/howtos/10g/StrutsValidator/struts_validator_howto.html
    There is a section in there on how to use the validator with ADF databound pages and you can check the format the user enters via generated JavaScript.
    Also check out the matching sample project:
    http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/products/jdev/10g/ADFandStrutsValidator.zip - this has a data field check on it as well

  • Problem setting maximum characters for a date field.

    Good morning all. I am trying to ensure that a date field on the form I am working on validates if the entry is not more than 8 digits, and if it is more, it should display a message, and return the focus back to the field until it is correct. Below is the code I wrote but it is not working:
      if(DATE1.length>"8"){
        xfa.host.messageBox(Enter eight digits for the date in the format YYYYMMDD or use the drop down calendar.);
    xfa.host.setFocus("form1.Page1.DATE1");
    I do not know why it is not working, i need help. I have this code on the exit event.
    Thanks

    Tammy

    Well you are missing the " around the text in your messagebox but even then it doesn't seem to work. I am not a javascript expert so am not sure why but it works in formcalc like this:
    if(Len($) > 8) then
        xfa.host.messageBox("Enter eight digits for the date in the format YYYYMMDD or use the drop down calendar.")
        xfa.host.setFocus("$")
    endif

    Hi manish ,
    I have Used the following code to validate end date should be more less than start date;
    DECLARE
    l_error VARCHAR2 (4000);
    BEGIN
    IF TO_DATE(apex_application.g_f05 (i), 'DD-MON-YYYY ') > TO_DATE (apex_application.g_f04 (i),'DD-MON-YYYY'
    THEN
    l_error :=l_error
    || '</br>'
    || 'Row '
    || i
    ||' ,TEST';
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    RETURN LTRIM (l_error, '</br>');
    END;
    it's giving the error like :
    ORA-06550: line 16, column 6: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "RETURN" when expecting one of the following: begin function pragma procedure The symbol "begin was inserted before "RETURN" to continue. ORA-06550: line 16, column 24: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "BEGIN"
