HTML Template but I need php files.

Hello I have an html template but I need to create a php file for a login system. I went to the server behaviors tab and changed it to a php file but will it update based on template? Also I need to insert a form into a editable region I made into the body of the forum but everytime I do it when I look on the design screen it looks completely messed up but when I go to live view it looks fine. Any idea why?

If you have set up a testing server, your documents should automatically have the PHP extension. Then if you create a new document from a DWT file, this will have the PHP extension.
I think it would be a good idea to have a look at a David Powers tutorial on dynamic sites which can be found here http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/first_dynamic_site_pt1.html
In the same section, there are also tutorials on how to use template files.
I hope this helps.

  • MAMP home page works, but my own PHP file doesn't.

    MAMP 1.7.2 is working oddly. I just installed it and the homepage works fine at the default address:
    http://localhost:8888/MAMP/?language=English
    However when I create a "hello, world" foo.php in the MAMP/test directory and load it with this URL:
    http://localhost:8888/MAMP/test/foo.php
    I get a page not found error.
    Same with an .html file.
    My sole clue: the file /Applications/MAMP/logs/apacheerrorlog contains this line:
    [Fri Oct 10 16:29:50 2008] [error] [client ::1] File does not exist: /Applications/MAMP/bin/mamp/foo
    Not clear to me why it expects the /bin/mamp extra directories.
    And /Applications/MAMP/conf/apache/httpd.conf has this line, which seems right:
    DocumentRoot "/Applications/MAMP/htdocs"
    Any ideas why HTML and PHP files don't work?
    Rig:
    MAMP 1.7.2
    Apache port: 8888
    MySQL port: 8889
    MacBook Air 1.6 Ghz Core 2 Duo
    OS/X 10.5.5
    2G RAM
    80G hard disk, 50G free

    Actually I do know something, because it(url address) above does work on my Panther MAMP to load bs.php & bs.html files out of htdocs. And start page loads fine.

  • How does one import an html template into Adobe Muse?

    I have downloaded several templates advertised as Muse templates but they all appear to be html5 templates. Can one import them into Adobe Muse?

    You can't import an HTML template. You need the original .muse file. If they are Muse templates you would have gotten them as a .muse file.

  • SSI/'Include' a .php file?

    Hi All,
    Server Side Includes in DW look much more complex than they
    used to be! A
    few years ago I used them a lot. Now I read the 'Help' and
    I'm bewildered!
    I began wondering about this because we have PHP file
    containing n HTML
    fragment - on one server - and wish to include it in pages
    elsewhere. The
    Joomla sites will pull it in no prob.
    Q: Is there any way that a static DW site with .html pages
    can 'include'
    that code too?
    Thanks All,
    John

    You are asking if a static HTML page can include a PHP file
    fragment? Sure
    it can, using an HTML include, but be prepared for the static
    page to not
    execute any of the PHP in the fragment.

    They are exactly the same as they used to be. Nothing has
    changed.

  • Xmonad.hs file: I need a template, but the official one gives errors

    I just installed Xmonad and I am LOVING it, but I need some help setting up an xmonad.hs file. I created one in ~/.xmonad/xmonad.hs and looked for a well-commented template since I don't know any Haskell (or any programming language, for that matter). This is the one I copied to the file:
    http://www.haskell.org/haskellwiki/Xmon … _xmonad.hs
    Which gives:
    -- xmonad example config file.

    -- and how to override the defaults in your own xmonad.hs conf file.
    -- Normally, you'd only override those defaults you care about.

    import qualified Data.Map as M

    -- certain contrib modules.
    myTerminal = "xterm"

    myBorderWidth = 1
    -- modMask lets you specify which modkey you want to use. The default
    -- is mod1Mask ("left alt"). You may also consider using mod3Mask

    -- current modifier status, so the keybindings will work with numlock on or
    -- off. You may need to change this on some systems.
    -- You can find the numlock modifier by running "xmodmap" and looking for a
    -- modifier with Num_Lock bound to it:
    -- > $ xmodmap | grep Num
    -- > mod2 Num_Lock (0x4d)

    I'm not exactly sure what any of this means. If someone could help me decipher this or, better yet, post a better (well-commented so I can understand it) default xmonad.hs file that I can use, that would be great.

    Alright! I've got xmonad almost set up! One major thing I still want to do is add some sort of pager-like display in the top left of xmobar. Just to show workspaces 1-9 and highlight the one I'm in (giving a preview of my windows or telling me which ones I have windows in would be great, but not absolutely necessary).
    I can't find anything (that I understand) online. Help?

    Correct

    The php script (or any server side script) does not need to be in the same directory level as your index file or any other html file. You can put it anywhere in the site and provide the path in the form's action.
    >and form file 3)some  way to connect with the
    >server so it knows to process my data.
    Not sure exactly what you mean but the script can connect to your mail server to email the message or insert data to a database server - or several other possibilities.
    >Then when I hear that godaddy has it's own script. I have no clue "what  that means."
    Godaddy provides server side scripts that you can use.
    >Does that mean I don't need a php file?
    It means that you use their php ( or asp) script.
    >but I know that  seems unlikely because
    >there would be no way for godaddy server to
    >know  how I want it processed.
    Many mail form scripts can generically handle form processing. They iterate through all of the form fields and process them accordingly. You need to review the script documentation to make sure you setup your form correctly.

  • How to use html template on a php script, if possible..

    Hello,
    I buy it smartjobboard script which is made in php (
    ''SmartJobBoard software design and layout is based on ‘Templates’ system.
    Templates used in the software are built on html and Smarty. '')
    . This is advanced job board script with user registrations/payment getway/ search ,etc. This script have default templates which are very old and ugly. So, I deciced it to build my own template. The only problem is that I didn't knew that my script is made php, so I lost 2 weeks working on a html job template with maps and everything need it for a nice site hoping that I will only have to paste some codes on my html code.. Now I'am stuck with my template and shocked with php, although I have acces to edit php template I found it impossible to make it to the level I create it my htlml template (not that I have tried..) . I have around 30 js files and 5 css on my template.
    I tried to download my own php site on pc hoping I will have html format /it works only as a template but it does not connect to database for login/register/search ,etc...
    There is any hope for my to actually use my html template ?
    thank you

    Looks like you need a Template that is designed to work with your scripts.
    They appear to have serveral you could use.

  • How to add a comment in a php file which has html code

    Hi
    I have a html file which I renamed .php after adding a form. I discovered that the html comment text I was using - <!--this is a comment --> - was affecting how the page rendered, particularly in IE9.
    My question is, now that it is a php file do I need to change all the comments syntax? I started to do it using the "apply comment" button in CS5 i.e. syntax: <?php /*?>form<?php */?>.
    Is this the right way to do it? It gives "php" icons in design view but appears to render ok.
    Thanks

    PHP comments:
    <?php
    //This is a comment
    This is
    a php comment
    block
    ?>
    Use PHP comments inside PHP scripts/code.
    HTML comments:
    <!--comment-->
    <!--this is
    an html comment
    block-->
    Use HTML comments inside HTML code.
    CSS Comments:
         /*comment*/
         /*this is
         a css comment
         block*/
    Use CSS comments inside CSS code (either embedded or external).
    JavaScript comments:
    //this is a single line comment
    //this is another single line comment
    /*this is a multi-line
    javascript
    comment
    Use JavaScript comments inside JavaScript code (either embedded or external).

  • How to create HTML fragment and PHP file for CONTACT FORM?

    Hello!
    I need to add a contact form to my website.
    I don't want to use wufoo or similar.
    Can someone write a code to have a form:
    NOME:
    MAIL:
    MESSAGGIO:
    and file .php ?
    Regards.
    Thanks a lot.

    Where are you publishing your site to? If MMe, then MobileMe does not support php and you don't need php to create a contact form - just good old html.
    If you are uploading to a server/host such as GoDaddy, then you can use the FormMail option too, but you still need to write your own html code - others will not do it for you.
    I would suggest that you visit this site - http://www.w3schools.com. This site tells you about how to write html code for most things, including contact and feedback forms. Look at this and then write your own code from this.
    If you can't manage to do it, then I would suggest that you need to use something like http://www.wufoo.com or GoogleDocs - Google Docs is a good alternative.
    Also, do a search of this forum for contact or contact and feedback forms where you will find lots of questions on this and where you will then find code examples that have been linked to.
    If you try it yourself, you will learn more quickly rather than asking others to do it for you.

  • Converting a html template to php

    How do I convert my html template to a php template? Any help
    would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    You do not need to do anything.
    "foo.dwt" can be used to create HTML, or PHP child pages.
    If you really want to do it, though, you can rename foo.dwt
    to foo.dwt.php
    (using DW's Files panel) and let DW adjust the pages
    accordingly.

  • Muse creates .php files instead .html files when directly uploaded on host in program

    When i use reCaptcha in Adobe Muse it creates index.php files when i click upload on ftp host. If i export it as html, then it works correctly.
    For my own Website it's not a problem (Hoststar.ch), but it appears to be a problem for other hosting providers (Genotec.ch).
    Also if there is a .htdocs file in the folder im exporting it to, it writes a "Muse Generated redirects", but it still won't for Genotec.ch.
    If there is no .htdocs file in the folder, it also won't create one.
    Is that problem fixable or what do i need to do?

    Hi,
    Adobe Muse does not generates .htdocs file. Did you check it with your host, if it is available for you on the server?

  • Dreamweaver templates not updating *.php file

    Hello everyone,
    I have been given an exisiting website to update that uses
    Dreamweaver templates.
    I have made the changes successfully within the content.dwt
    file, saved it, and then uploaded both the new content.dwt file and
    the related *.htm pages that were linked to it.
    After going to the website to double check the new pages I
    found a *.php file that uses the same template, content.dwt, but it
    never asked to update that particular file.
    So, I opened the *.php file in Dreamweaver and tried to apply
    changes from the content.dwt file to it using: Templates - Update
    current page, but no such luck. Since there is no code at the start
    of this file like the other *.htm files how do I "connect" it with
    the newly updated template. I tried making a small change on the
    content.dwt file so see what files would come up in the "do you
    wish to update..." list but for some reason the *.php file is not
    there.
    Perhaps the answer is fairly obvious to someone who has
    worked with Templates a lot but since I have just started working
    with templates I still have a large knowledge gap in this area.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Mr Zedd

    Can you post a link to the PHP page, please? This will allow
    me to see the
    HTML markup on it....
