hi! need some advise on the following:
1. i've create a web site using dreamweaver(html files, frames, graphics folder etc). how do i "upload" or create these as a portlet?
i've read that i could zipped up the files, add the zip file as an zip item, unzipped it, hide away all files except the main page...
but is this efficient in terms of maintenance?
is there a utility that can transform the files into a portlet?
2. is it possible to link lotus applications (custom applications developed using lotus)from the portal? how do i go about doing it?

HTML website, SWF do a load animation only once. Same file used on all pages?

Just going through some thinking here. My HTML website is
going to using a flash header and navigation. Now I will be using
the same swf's on all of the pages across the site. I would like to
play a loading animation only on the first time the swfs are
loaded. Is there a way to do this? Or because I am using the same
swf's will it be okay to just tell my mc to go sit on a specific
frame and because it is in the cache each page will be using the
same file so the mc will still be at that frame or???

While Breqent is right that server side includes are the best way of doing this if you aren't up on
server side coding then you can use Dreamweaver to manage you menu.
You do this by simply ensuring you never edit the menu area on any individual page.
It should therefore be identical on all page and as such you can just use find and replace across the entire site or folder to edit all occurances of your menu.

FF 4 (mac) doesn't display handcursor in all Flash websites. Also all html websites show strange behaviour with cursor. (blinking cursor in nearby div after clicking a button)

How to convert a HTML-Website to a responsive design?

I am new in webdesign and I just create my first website with Adobe Muse. As I finished my site I recognized that it is not respnsive for every width?! Just for 1920px. I despair! I've invested a lot of time in the this project.
Is there any tool to make a HTML-website responsive? Does someone had the same problem? What should I do?

Having a HTML website

Hello,
I am the owner of an Office 365 pack. I have migrated my company domain on it as I didn't have any website so far and needed an email account.
I am now starting to work with agencies in order to build my website. They are a bit reluctant to work on SharePoint and most of them made proposal around full HTML website (ie, without asp pages) or to install CMS such as WordPress.
Is that possible with my Office 365 pack? I need a formal and 100% sure answer because if I accept a quote, I will have to pay and if this is not working on Sharepoint, that would lead in lot of money dropped...
If this is possible, how does it work - do I have to upload pages using Sharepoint Designer ?

This is exactly the right place for geeky questions...
So to answer your questions:-
No you can't install another CMS such as Wordpress in Office 365, to do this you'd need to purchase a separate hosting package with another provider which would cost you more money.
With the Office 365 public website, In theory you could upload a bunch of HTML pages (You can do this just using a mapped drive, it doesn't have to be SharePoint designer..), but what a waste of power. If you go down this route, you lose all access to the
power of SharePoint such as the Search engine, the Analytics etc.
I would suggest you look for an Agency that knows and understands SharePoint instead. There's enough companies out there that work with SharePoint. Perhaps reach out to your local user group for their recommendations?

How can I replace an existing html website with a new one I just created on iWeb?

I just created a new website on iWeb. It as to be published as a html site. Someone else already created a previous site, and used the name of my company. We hired him to do it, but he didn't do that great of a job, so now I need to know how to replace it. Thank you for your help!

Make sure the site folder created by iWeb is named exactly the same as the site folder currently on the server.

Calling a procedure from HTML website

I have created a procedure which up dates my database.
e.g.

It records hits etc on website.
I have tested it from a browser it works fine. Now I wish to call it each time a page in a website is loaded.
The solution I have tired is

I may have syntax error or go about this the wrong way

Load External HTML/Website in Flash (urgent)

I've found the codes to load the external html and text in
flash at run time, but I when I tested most of the html sites
cannot show very well at all such as videos and swf advanced tag in
html.So is there any way to load external website into flash at

you can display it in a popup window or in the same window or in an iframe in the same html page that displays your swf.
When you say this, do you mean I can create an iFrame on the same html page that displays my swf, and have it be dynamically populated by what the user clicks on the swf?
yes, exactly.
use getULR() (as2) or navigateToURL() (as3) with the 1st parameter being the html page you want to display and the 2nd parameter being the iframe "name" property.

Blog to feed into HTML website

I have a client I am building a website for - standard HTML.
He has setup a Blog site for himself (free blog site) and wants me
to feed the Blog into the HTML site, rather than have the user come
to the HTML site , then clcik to view the Blog.
I'm not familiar with Blogs (other than knowing of them). Is
that an RSS feed. Anyone know of a quick and easy way to do this?

In the case of wordpress, it is installed in its own folder,
whether it is the root folder of the site or a subfolder. So in
your client's case it would be a subfolder. The flash portion of
the site would just have to link to that folder with whatever
button(s) you want to have linked to portions of it.
My advice would be to download the latest version of
wordpress, and work with installing it and setting it up to work in
a manner that is agreeable to your client's wishes. Chances are
your client would want to have it resemble his/her own site, so you
could also dig into the various theme files and rewrite them to
resemble it. The key there is to find a theme that is suitable for
adapting to the situation. It's something worth learning if you
think you'll have more clients wanting blogs, but it does require
some time and effort and some knowledge of PHP to be able to tweak
things.

Creating Flash/Html Website Front Page

HI, i hope someone can help clear up my confusion.
Im creating a website in flash at the moment. I want the
first page of the site to be am HTML page where people without
flash can view the page (download flash if they havent got it) then
enter the site. Is this initial HTML page which will link to the
main flash site created within flash somehow or is it created in a
programme such as dreamweaver then links to the flash movie?

if ur using front page it easy...you don't link to individual
flash files but to html pages with flash embedded in them. you
create your flash website...and make sure you publish it by
selecting HTML and Flash in the publish settings..you embed the swf
file into a html page by opening the published html in notepad
copying the html and pasting it into front page. this html allows
the flash site to be seen. within that html there is a line of code
for an alternate page which will lead people without flash to a
different page..you can change this if u wish to one that you have
created allowing people to download flash player.

Problem Exporting HTML Website

I'm having a boring problem when i try exporting a html in Indesign.
It's messing the whole organization of the layout.
As u can see in the screenshots, the original ideia and the result goes completely messed.
No matter how simple i create the page, it aligns everything...

InDesign is not a web editor. Its Export to HTML5 does not "create" a web site, it's merely to *facilitate* converting existing content to something you can work on with a *real* web site editor.
That said: its limitations are known to 3rd party developers, and there are a few alternatives. You could try this, for example: http://ajarproductions.com/pages/products/in5/
