HTML Widget Problems

I have been using HTML Widgets for a while now. I decided to stop using 'mixpod' [a music player I use to post DJ mixes] a while back, but recently decided to use it again when re-designing my site. However it is now not working. I can see the player in iweb but it doesn't publish [I publish to folder and then to a dreamhost server]. I have no idea if the issue is with iweb, the server, or with the mixpod player code. Any help in diagnosing the source of the problem and how to fix it would be great!

hi! I created a 'blank composition', triggers change when rollover, my problem is that html widget I put in the first target dissapears after rolling over on 2nd trigger and never comes back again (after rolling on the first one more time) ...please help..!

This seems to be working fine on my end. The HTML box shows up everytime I hover over the same trigger. Can you confirm that the component in placed in the right place, in the target area of the composition?

Animated .gif not supported inside HTML widget ?

iBooks author reject my HTML widget when there is animated .gif inside,
are gif not supported ?

and whatthe workaround to have an animated picture inside my HTML Widget,
seems Animated png are not spported too ...

Html Widget Crashes. How to load only one html widget at a time?

I have a bunch of html widgets which are just tab navigators with html pages inside of them. I must have about 20 of them , mostly leading to google image searches for common searches I tend to do in my work. Instead of constantly searching for these things on google I just click on the tab with the google search for say..."tree images". Its very fast and effecient for me.
The problem is now I have so many that it crashes photoshop, or crashes adobe configurator most of the time if I try to open the panel file. Im guessing that the panel I made tries to load all 20 google image searches at once, instead of only loading the page I click on one at a time. Is there anyway to stop configurator from loading my html widgets that arent clicked on ?

How to use Dashcode to make HTML Widgets in iBooks Author?

I'm writing books on iBooks Author, and I got a problem:
I wanna add some HTML Widgets to my books, and I was told I should use Dashcode to make them. So I downloaded the Xcode, but I don't know how to open the Dashcode on my Mac. I really hope someone could give me some lessons, I would be very grateful!

Refresh rate for scroll area in html widget (iBooks Author)

So, I am finding that within the html widget, the refresh rate of a scrolling area is lagging.
As someone scrolls, the scroll window is black before the content catches up and is viewable.
Any recommendations to fix this problem?

IBooks HTML Widget Warning

I've created a series of HTML Widgets using Hype and iAd Producer for my iBooks. However, on trying to upload it to iTunes Bookstore I received this message: WARNING ITMS-9006: "Study_it_2.ibooks : data-anchor-ref = danchor-gallery-0" at Book (MZitmspBookPackage)
I'm not sure what this means and would love some clarification. Please note that the book has been approved (so far), and the name of the book is Study it 2.

My book also have a Hype 2 widget and one Gallery Widget (and several video widgets)
I can´t see so far the book on iTunes Connect. There was a 1 GB upload.
Update: The Book is on iTunes Connect, so the warning should not be so important as to block the book.

IWeb HTML Widget Code

HTML Widget zooming effect

Hi,
I am trying to make my HTML Widgets in my iBooks Author book to being fired up when user taps on a small button in the side of the book.
For that sake, I place my widget first, then I drag my small button graphic to the widget area so it becomes the poster image of it.
Problem is that when I test my book and I tap on the button, there's always a "zooming effect" of the button prior to execute the Widget itself, that enlarges the little png for a little while, so it shows the big pixel jagged image. I don't like this effect, is there any way to get rid of it?

I am just using finally this workaround:
1) Place the HTML widget as usual, but without poster image, nor Title, Background... so it is sort of a "transparent hot spot" in the book
2) I draw a figure with text inside, as a button, and organize it so it lies below this transparent widget
When I run the book in the iPad, I see a crisp, clear button that I cap tap and the Widget plays at full screen without that annoying jagged PNG zoomed in.
Same thing if you use an image button rather than a figure.

Warning about drop-down html widget

There's a widget to add a drop-down menu on iWeb pages that's available on this site:

It works! However, you can't change the color (pale blue) or the text style (small sans serif). When I tried and couldn't, I decided to ditch the widget.
Then I found out that I COULDN'T DELETE THE DROP-DOWN widget. It seems to have latched on to a Statcounter html widget in a way that I can't see it in the Statcounter code.
When I publish the page, the part of the drop-down menu I see is whatever fits the width of the widget window for Statcounter.
(Think of a medicine cabinet with two sliding doors. You can see the inside of cabinet if the door's not closed. Now picture the inside of the cabinet as your drop-down menu and the doors as your page background. It's as if the widget box is an open door. You can make it small, but you still see part of the drop-down menu behind it.)
I finally hid the entire widget behind a shape with 100% color fill.
Does anyone have a more elegant solution to this problem? And is there a drop-down widget out there that will allow you to change its style? Thank you.

Invalid URL when pasting YouTube URL into YouTube or HTML widgets?

Any known fix for INVALID URL WHEN PASTING URL OR EMBED CODE INTO YOUTUBE AND HTML WIDGETS?
And video doesn't play on the widget window but rather opens YouTube OUTSIDE of mu website separately!

It's very simple.

StatCounter with html widget questions

Hi - I have statcounter on my home page. I used the html widget to paste the code i got from Statcounter. I just placed the widget randomly on the page -- it's invisible. works great for that page.
Can someone help me with how to get the stats on where on my sire people are going?
do i have to create a different project for each page in statcounter and paste that on each page of my site??
also am i going to have to paste up new html widgets each time i publish/.

Having the Statcounter code on one page only is quite useless...
You could place a snippet with Statcounter on each page but personally I don't like html snippets that much (in general)... I prefer to have the page coming up in Statcounter instead of the snippet and I also don't like to add a snippet to each page (I have something like 260 pages or more)
Basically there are two applications which will add the code to your page automatically (you would have to run them each time you (re)publish).
iComment (not freeware)
iWebExpander (guimkie.com, freeware)
iWebExpander works... It does it's job...
The only problem, at least for the moment is that iWebExpander is “Crashing” my Finder... But that’s a minor problem...
About the crashing:
You maybe will get a popup "AppleScript Error" bla bla bla. It's only a popup doesn't mean anything. When the popup appears the process of adding the Favicon is finished.
You maybe will have the spinning circle when in Finder. When the popup appears go to your dock select the finder icon click(and hold click) it and do "Relaunch finder".
You don't have to restart or something. You don't have loss of data. It will not shut down unexpectedly. And so on...
Nevertheless the job gets done...

You don't have to make a new project for each page... => you use the same project through your whole website
And if you want to track a page in particular then you could add an html snippet to the page with a new project code for that particular page

HTML Widget not working with iBooks when exported

I've created an HTML widget for my iBook using Tumult Hype. The widget itself uses the draggable code. When I test it on Chrome and Safari, the code works fine. However, when I use export the iBook and test it on my iPad, the images are not draggable. This is also a problem with movie files, accordion drag and drop lists, etc.
Anyone know what's going on?

I never used iWeb08, but I just tried to make a site in '09 and my HTML widgets don't work either, on the web. They work if I publish to a folder.
The widgets load flash .swf files. I had to manually put them in the site folder on my computer, and in the widget I access them with a file name like "../flash/file.swf". It worked on the folder, but when I published to the site, they don't load.
Since iWeb doesn't know about the folder I stuck in there, I had to upload it to the site folder also. But that still doesn't fix the problem. I looked at the HTML widget source, and to me it looks like the file pathnames are correct, it just doesn't seem to be running the widget.
Anyone have a fix for this?

How do I reset the furthest page read in iBooks from an HTML Widget?

Our training department just got a bunch of iPads and I'm writing some custom HTML widgets for iBooks for them for testing, in-class activities, etc.
On the last page I have a link to clear all the forms and return to the first page. Like this: <a href="ibooks:///#page(1)">Click here</a>
That all works fine but the next time the book is opened it auto-syncs to the FURTHEST page read (the last page with the test on it) instead of the LAST page read (the first page- from the link mentioned above).
Basically we want the link to reset the furthest page read to the first page of the book when they finish the test so that the next person to use the iPad goes to page one automatically.
Does anyone have an idea of how to do something like completely clear the iBook cache?

This was hand-coded HTML, CSS, jQuery/Javascript with a PHP file on our server that processes answers and emails them to our training director.
I use Brackets exclusively for coding.

Why do I get a white screen in a HTML widget once it has loaded?

I have created some HTML which works fine in Safari but as soon as I make it a widget it loads fine with the Default image on screen and then it just goes white with nothing more than a x in the top left corner. Any ideas what I a might be doing wrong. I have an info.plist directing to the html, a Default.png which works as it appears as loading but the page just will not display.
Any ideas very welcome.

Without seeing exactly what you have, troubleshooting is difficult.
You could try here iBooks Author: About HTML widget creation for more guidance. I became unstuck once when I made some HTML in Dreamweaver, but forgot to set the Doctype as the HTML5 one.
