StatCounter with html widget questions

Hi - I have statcounter on my home page. I used the html widget to paste the code i got from Statcounter. I just placed the widget randomly on the page -- it's invisible. works great for that page.
Can someone help me with how to get the stats on where on my sire people are going?
do i have to create a different project for each page in statcounter and paste that on each page of my site??
also am i going to have to paste up new html widgets each time i publish/.

Having the Statcounter code on one page only is quite useless...
You could place a snippet with Statcounter on each page but personally I don't like html snippets that much (in general)... I prefer to have the page coming up in Statcounter instead of the snippet and I also don't like to add a snippet to each page (I have something like 260 pages or more)
Basically there are two applications which will add the code to your page automatically (you would have to run them each time you (re)publish).
iComment (not freeware)
iWebExpander (guimkie.com, freeware)
iWebExpander works... It does it's job...
The only problem, at least for the moment is that iWebExpander is “Crashing” my Finder... But that’s a minor problem...
About the crashing:
You maybe will get a popup "AppleScript Error" bla bla bla. It's only a popup doesn't mean anything. When the popup appears the process of adding the Favicon is finished.
You maybe will have the spinning circle when in Finder. When the popup appears go to your dock select the finder icon click(and hold click) it and do "Relaunch finder".
You don't have to restart or something. You don't have loss of data. It will not shut down unexpectedly. And so on...
Nevertheless the job gets done...

You don't have to make a new project for each page... => you use the same project through your whole website
And if you want to track a page in particular then you could add an html snippet to the page with a new project code for that particular page

HTML widget causing iBooks to Crash

I am attempting to embed an HTML 5 widget in an iBook made with iBooks Author. The widget was created with Hype. It tests fine in Safari. When I export it as an iBA widget and embed it, iBooks crashes. The crash occurs predictably upon "scene changes". The widget is 2.4 mB so I am wondering if there is a memory issue. There are no movies and very few imported graphics within the widget. Any ideas?

If the widget works in Safari on an iPad then it should work in iBooks.
There are many issues with html widgets in IA and using local storage is one of them, but your 2.4MB should fit.
If the widget is using <frames> it will crash, you should use <iframe> instead.
You cannot embed Flash, webgl and some other codings, but html5, css3 and javascript usually work fine.

Adding Statcounter code with HTML Snippet

On an earlier thread, someone posted a message that they could add the Statcounter code using an HTML Snippet. Does anyone know how to do that (and make sure it gets put in the right location)?

You can add statcounter using HTML Snippet.
but if you need statcounter to track different pages then HTML Snippet will give you bad results.
Because when you add statcounter code or any code for that matter, iweb adds the code to another page aka widget(#)_markup.html and links these pages to you target pages by way of iframe element. (unless iweb'09 does thing differently, but I doubt it)
example: let say you have twenty pages and add statcounter to each of them, you will see the results point to widget(#)_markup pages and not your page URL.
You came get away with all that if you know javascript (statcounter code is javascript).

scroll all the way to the bottom, see that iweb look-a-like hit counter? it's a statcounter!

HTML Widget not working with iBooks when exported

I've created an HTML widget for my iBook using Tumult Hype. The widget itself uses the draggable code. When I test it on Chrome and Safari, the code works fine. However, when I use export the iBook and test it on my iPad, the images are not draggable. This is also a problem with movie files, accordion drag and drop lists, etc.
Anyone know what's going on?

I never used iWeb08, but I just tried to make a site in '09 and my HTML widgets don't work either, on the web. They work if I publish to a folder.
The widgets load flash .swf files. I had to manually put them in the site folder on my computer, and in the widget I access them with a file name like "../flash/file.swf". It worked on the folder, but when I published to the site, they don't load.
Since iWeb doesn't know about the folder I stuck in there, I had to upload it to the site folder also. But that still doesn't fix the problem. I looked at the HTML widget source, and to me it looks like the file pathnames are correct, it just doesn't seem to be running the widget.
Anyone have a fix for this?

How to reset an iBooks Author Html Widget?

Hi folks!
I'm using with great pleasure Adobe Edge Animate 1.0 to make Html Widgets for Apple iBooks Author!
In a composition, I've defined this variable:
var track1 = new Audio();
        track1.src = "media/track1.m4a";
        track1.volume = 0.5;
and made it play:
track1.play();
All it works but...what if I want that - when I go out from the widget on iBooks on iPad - the track pauses?
I've coded this in my index.html file inside the widget:

track1.pause();
widget.didEnterWidgetMode = function() {

I suspect the file is corrupted in some form.
Which could be a few keystrokes away from fixing or days of BS&T, sorry. There's no way to know, especially from here.
If you're handy with a text editor, crack into the xml and compare it to a behaving file to see if you can spot the issue(s). Or, do the same and carefully graft sections from it to a new file until you manage to manually rebuild.
In the end, tho, I think your time at this point is best spent simply redoing from scratch. If you have further questions, please start your own, unique thread so you can better track, close if solved, etc.
And again, to everyone....if your work has value, be sure to have a tested and reliable backup in place at all times.

E7-00 with "Anna": Widgets continue to crash frequ...

Hi there,
Since months I am fighting with a Widget problem. Just of a sudden, the phone freezes, displays the message "internal error, widgets will shut down", all widgets are gone and the factory setup returns to the screen. After that it takes me 15min to reestablish my personal setup.
I reduced already the the number widgets pages down to 2. First page with time, date and profile, contacts, call listing, ovi and navigation, then sbp-wallet, mail, Bluetooth and audio recording, then the WLAN widget and finally the scheduler.
The second widget pages includes all 6 e-mail addresses, that´s it.
It looks, the crashes happen independently from the type of widgets and the quantity of widgets.
I am so angry about this phone that I am close to sink it at the Danube River in Vienna,,,,
any ideas???

Alright, I see. I'm afraid that it doesn't really suit my needs / expectations / habits. As far as Opera is concerned - well, I tried Opera Mini in the past and I wasn't particularly happy about it either.
Moreover, I tried adding individual bookmarks to the device default screen widgets nevertheless and all I got were big question marks in circles not doing anything. This seems to suggest some bug, but I wouldn't care about this bug too much personally if the previous option of opening the browser on the bookmarks screen is added back. I understand that Nokia wants to push Ovi as their default homepage, but people like me will never keep the default setting there anyway so why not providing them with another option which costs nothing and makes at least some users happier. You know, I can create an HTML file with all my bookmarks and set that as my homepage but I really hope that this kind of overkill shouldn't be necessary.

Warning about drop-down html widget

There's a widget to add a drop-down menu on iWeb pages that's available on this site:

It works! However, you can't change the color (pale blue) or the text style (small sans serif). When I tried and couldn't, I decided to ditch the widget.
Then I found out that I COULDN'T DELETE THE DROP-DOWN widget. It seems to have latched on to a Statcounter html widget in a way that I can't see it in the Statcounter code.
When I publish the page, the part of the drop-down menu I see is whatever fits the width of the widget window for Statcounter.
(Think of a medicine cabinet with two sliding doors. You can see the inside of cabinet if the door's not closed. Now picture the inside of the cabinet as your drop-down menu and the doors as your page background. It's as if the widget box is an open door. You can make it small, but you still see part of the drop-down menu behind it.)
I finally hid the entire widget behind a shape with 100% color fill.
Does anyone have a more elegant solution to this problem? And is there a drop-down widget out there that will allow you to change its style? Thank you.

I want to find the path to a writable location inside a html widget, preferrably the path pointed to by app.preferencesFolder or Folder.userData. The current user's home directory could also work.
Is there a way to communicate these paths back to the panel (without running as administrator)?
As a workaround, would it be possible to have Extension Manager write that path to a file in the assets folder (which would be readable from the panel...)?
Note: that my question is for Photoshop CS5. I know how to get return values with Configurator 4.
All ideas are welcome. Cheers.

Getting Keynotes/HTML widgets to 'automatically play' in iBA

I'm trying to make use of iBAv2.2's new 'automatically plays' feature in iBA. My question is regarding a Keynote widget, but the same query stands for HTML widgets
I thought what should happen is that when you navigate to a page, the keynote wouldn't require a tap to play – the widget would be active on the page so the user can just use it. I assumed, therefore, that it would not have the 'play' icon either.
I have imported the Keynote, and selected 'play on page', and 'automatically plays' within the 'interaction' tab of the Inspector. However, the resulting iBA file still shows the 'play' icon, and still requires a tap by the user.
Have I missed something out here? Is there something I need to do with the Keynote file itself (within Keynote) before I import it into iBA? The iPad I'm using is a Retina version running iOS7, if that's relevant.

How do I reset the furthest page read in iBooks from an HTML Widget?

Our training department just got a bunch of iPads and I'm writing some custom HTML widgets for iBooks for them for testing, in-class activities, etc.
On the last page I have a link to clear all the forms and return to the first page. Like this: <a href="ibooks:///#page(1)">Click here</a>
That all works fine but the next time the book is opened it auto-syncs to the FURTHEST page read (the last page with the test on it) instead of the LAST page read (the first page- from the link mentioned above).
Basically we want the link to reset the furthest page read to the first page of the book when they finish the test so that the next person to use the iPad goes to page one automatically.
Does anyone have an idea of how to do something like completely clear the iBook cache?

This was hand-coded HTML, CSS, jQuery/Javascript with a PHP file on our server that processes answers and emails them to our training director.
I use Brackets exclusively for coding.

Why do I get a white screen in a HTML widget once it has loaded?

I have created some HTML which works fine in Safari but as soon as I make it a widget it loads fine with the Default image on screen and then it just goes white with nothing more than a x in the top left corner. Any ideas what I a might be doing wrong. I have an info.plist directing to the html, a Default.png which works as it appears as loading but the page just will not display.
Any ideas very welcome.

Without seeing exactly what you have, troubleshooting is difficult.
You could try here iBooks Author: About HTML widget creation for more guidance. I became unstuck once when I made some HTML in Dreamweaver, but forgot to set the Doctype as the HTML5 one.

Html Widget Crashes. How to load only one html widget at a time?

I have a bunch of html widgets which are just tab navigators with html pages inside of them. I must have about 20 of them , mostly leading to google image searches for common searches I tend to do in my work. Instead of constantly searching for these things on google I just click on the tab with the google search for say..."tree images". Its very fast and effecient for me.
The problem is now I have so many that it crashes photoshop, or crashes adobe configurator most of the time if I try to open the panel file. Im guessing that the panel I made tries to load all 20 google image searches at once, instead of only loading the page I click on one at a time. Is there anyway to stop configurator from loading my html widgets that arent clicked on ?

Anyone?

How do you stop HTML widget from going full screen?

I just want the html file to play in the position it is in before you engage it. Similar to how Keynote files react.

Most widgets open to the size of the Default.png file associated with the widget. if you adjust the size of this file your widget will be adjusted as well

How to create and use Data Vault with HTML/JavaScript (SAPUI5) for Mobile Apps?

Hello,
I am creating a demo Enterprise Mobile App, for cross platform and I want to use the Data Vault.
I am not able to figure out how to implement the Data Vault with HTML/JavaScript i.e. SAPUI5 for cross platform mobile apps I have a tutorial, but it is for Android based apps. Where as I want it for iOS as well. I guess, in this case, implementing the Data Vault using SAPUI5 over HTML and JavaScript would be better.
If anyone has any links or sample code to implement Data vault in HTML/JavaScript (SAPUI5) or specific for iOS apps, it would be great.

The images in my html widget look blurry!

Hey there, I'm making some html widgets for my book using HYPE. When I insert this into the ibooks the program shows the preview image in crisp high quality but when I preview it on the iBook, the figure looks somewhat blurred. When I tap on the figure to enlarge it and make it interactive, everything looks fine and crisp, it's only the preview window before it's enlarged that doesn't looks so good. I even tried replacing the preview with a separate picture and previewing that but whatever I do, the preview just doesn't look sharp. Does anyone have any solutions I can try?

Blurry preview icon for HTML widget
The best way to handle this issue is to make the preview icon transparent and place it over your own custom reference graphic on the page.
1- Place on the page the graphic you will be using as the reference icon for the widget
2- Place your widget on top of the custom graphic icon. Make sure it is in "Front". Also make the preview icon is as small as possible.
3- Click on the preview icon TWICE and make its transparency "0". If you only click the preview icon once the Transparency slider will not become active.
4- Now, when you preview the book, your Widget Link will open your custom HTML Widget and both will display at full resolution.
A bonus result of doing this... Since your link is transparent you can make it as large as needed to make it a large enough touch target.
