HTTP Adapter outbound (SSL) processing

I am trying to send a XML message (an Invoice) from XI to an external Customer via HTTP Adapter.
The site I am posting the message to is SSL.
I have installed the Customer's Certificate via STRUST under SSL Client (Standard) and can see it in the
certificate list.
Within the Communication Channel for HTTP Adapter I have tried Addressing Type of URL
and also with a HTTP (SM59) destination.  Both do not work.
The setting used for both are
host : workflw.externalcustomer.xxx.com  Service: 443
Path : /SubmitInvoiceUAT/SubmitInvoice.asmx/SubmitCXML
HTTP Proxy : internetproxy.mycompany.com
Proxy Servuce : 80
SSL Active : SSL Client Certificate ANONYM SSL Client(Anonymous).  As no client cert is used for logon
I have attempted a connection test within SM59 for the HTTP Destination and I receive the error
ICM_HTTP_SSL_ERROR.
1) If the SSL Client Certificate ONLY for logon then how does XI know what cert to encyrption with?.
2) Should Verisign/Thawte etc CA certs be also installed in STRUST ?
Does that "public" key for encryption need to be placed anywhere (eg STRUST) or will XI just do
3) this when it does the handshake with the external HTTPS site it is posting to ?
4) Also the transaction STRUST may (or may not depending on how the documentation is interpreted) need the installation of some certs into its PSE (Personal Security Environment).  But exactly what they mean is a mystery.  I have created what I thought was the servers cert but cannot see to create a dev.connector.boc.com named certificate.  Perhaps that is not needed.
Here is the help <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/e8/1f1041a0f6f16fe10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm">SAPHelp on  PI HTTPS Config</a>
5) Also OSS note 510007 it advises to check a number of settings.  I have had a look at what I can ..namely via transaction RZ10  and I can see one parameter and should that be changed to include a HTTPS ? .i,e  currently it is set to     <i>icm/server_port_0  PROT=HTTP,PORT=80$$,PROCTIMEOUT=3600</i>

Hello
As a process you have done well. I suspect the problem could be with " SSL Client Certificate  ". Check weather the SSL Client Certificate  is Valid version.
Best practice.
Alway when we are communicating with HTTP outbound. It is better to have a STANDALONE ftp location for both SENDER and RECEIVE xml DATA transfter files.
I hope I answered your question. It was nice answering your question. Feel free to reach SDN if you have any questions.

  • HTTP adapter using SSL through a reverse proxy (Apache)

I've configured SSL on the PI Server (Double_Stack) and it is working fine.  I need to configure an Apache server to act as a reverse proxy which will accept client certificates.  Is there a how to or SDN post on this?  I have been searching but no luck.  I have found info on www.apache.org but it is confusing.  Web Dispatcher is not an option in this case (mandated Apache).  Thanks for the help.

    Didn't need to use Apache.

  • Plain HTTP Adapter vs SOAP Adapter with regards to SSL

    Hi,
I need to setup communication channles within XI to send and receive secure xml. I am confused after reading the XI documentation and the some of the discussion forums on SDN.
    Can anyone clarify the following:
    1) Does the plain HTTP Adapter support SSL? According to the XI documentation is does NOT? Have I miss read it?
    2) This being the case, the only way to send and receive secure XML is to use the XI/SOAP Adapter?
    Thanx for your help.
    Cheers
    Yackeen

    Hi Yackeen,
no, that's not true. The plain HTTP Adapter supports SSL. No problem.

  • Header Fields not picked in Http Adapter

    Hi ,
I am sending a few custom header fields that have been set up in the HTTP adapter but for some reason they are not picked.
    Any suggestions..
    -Teresa

    Thanks Sameer,
This note did help us pick up the header fields but on picking up it returns the header fields in lower case instead of the case Sensitive format I sent it in ..I looked at the trace log too and its in case sensitive format but when my 3rd party receives it, it is in lower case format...funny even the <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes" ?>
is also in lowercase..I am running XI 3.0 SP4..Is it an XI issue or something to do with my integration server which processes my HTTP adapter??? Or any other notes also needs to be applied??
    Please help..

  • SSL in HTTP adapter

    Hi All,
Would I be able to use an HTTP adapter for HTTPS connection. As currently i am unable to see any SSL feature in HTTP adapter in Comm Channel.
Please guide me with info and links as to how would I be able to enable it. I am using PI7.1
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi,
you could define the SSL settings in the RFC connection that is referenced from the Adapter (select HTTP Destination
    as Addressing Type).

  • REG: Error in IDoc adapter outbound processing

    Hi All,
I had a couple of doubts regarding these IDoc's.
    1)        I am dealing with the web services to IDoc Scenario. When i am activated my wed services it               is giving an error like
"IDOC_ADAPTER.ATTRIBUTE_BE_NOT_SUPP" and "Only asynchronous processing supported for IDoc adapter outbound processing"
Can any one help me to Solve my Problem
    2) How to find out whether the IDoc is of synchronous or Asynchronous mode
and how to  handle the synchronous type of IDoc's
    Thanks in advance.
    with Regards,
    Kalyan Dannapaneni.

    Hi Kalyan,
IDOCs are only Aynchronous (EO or EOIO).
If you want to call Synchronious, you will have to find remote enabled function modules (RFCs, BAPIs).
Or you have to use the ccBPM Synch-Async pattern to have an synchronos call passed to an IDoc, waiting for the Acknowledgement. In your situation I would check if a similar BAPI/RFC exists on your Backend SAP system.
    Best regards,
    Silvia

  • What format is the XI adapter outbound & what format is http adapter i/b

I need to know what format is for XI adapter outbound & what format is for http adapter inbound

YOu can send messages over http by usiing XI adapter to the Integration Engine mailnly for JAVA and ABAP Proxies.
using HTTP adapter , is mostily used to handle messages over the HTTP protocol.
Eventhough both of them use HTTP protocol, XI adapter is more centered towards handling PROXY  communication

  • HTTP adapter, SSL and wildcard certificate

    Hi,
I am developing a B2B integration solution using BizTalk Server. The protocol used to communicate with the partner’s server is HTTPS and so it uses SSL.
The certificate the partner is using to establish SSL connections is provided by GeoTrust but it is a wildcard certificate, issued to *.*.*.company.com
The server I am trying to contact to is on a domain of the form: a.b.c.company.com (which seems to match the wildcard).
When I try to open an HTTPS connection to the server (either through Internet Explorer, a .Net Windows Application or BizTalk), the connection cannot be established because the certificate is said to not be trusted. For example, Internet Explorer shows a pop-up message saying that:
    - The certificate is issued from a valid CA
    - The certificate date is valid
    - The name of the certificate is NOT matching the name of the site. This means that the certificate is issued for a domain different that the one we are accessing to. So it seems that the wildcard system is not working for this certificate? Is that possible if they aquire a wrong type of certificate by mistake? or is multipart wildcard certificate (*.*.*) not supported?
Anyway even if their certificate is not 100% valid, they refuse to change it as their other partners work with that and they won't change to a proper certificate just for us...
In .Net 2.0 code, it is easy to circumvent any certificate validation by setting the delegate ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback to a callback method with something like:
    ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = delegate(Object obj, X509Certificate certificate, X509Chain chain, SslPolicyErrors errors)  { return true; };
Nevertheless, I need to achieve this sort of circumvention with BizTalk Server 2006 and I would like to know if anyone ever did that.
I am aware that I can write my own custom HTTP Adapter but I need this urgently so I thought of asking this forum's community first. Maybe someone as a quicker way than writing a custom adapter such as some "hack" (registry keys, custom class... ) or knows of an existing custom adapter already doing the job.
    Thanks in advance,
    Best regards,
    Francois Malgreve

The certificate needs to be installed as a explicitly trusted certificate in the store under the computer a/c on the BzTalk machine and then it'll work. Refer
    https://thinkintegration.wordpress.com/2011/12/02/biztalk-https-adapter-and-certificate-configurations/ for the steps.

  • Busine Process Monitoring: define alert in XI for HTTP adapter

    Hi Experts,
Iu2019m working with SAP XI 7.0 and solution manager 701. Iu2019m configuring BPM.
I want to monitor the error in XI. I have three systems:
Legacy System --> SAP PI --> ECC
The legacy System, communicate whit SAP PI with HTTP request so the adapter  sender in PI is  an HTTP Adapter.
I want to  monitor the errors in the http adapter so I created the  alert category HTTP_ERROR_ADAPTER in the abap stack (transaction alrtcatdef).
When I try to configure the alert in the Runtime WorkBanch I canu2019t find u201CHTTP Adapteru201D in the field u201CAdapter Engineu201D . I can see only jdbc, rfc, mail u2026. Adapters.
I think that I canu2019t see the http adapter because the HTTP Adapter is not a java adapter.
So, how can I monitor the errors in the HTTP adapter sender in SAP PI? Can I monitor the http adapter sender  errors using the field u201CIntegration Engineu201D (u201Cerror categoryu201D = * and u201Cerror codeu201D = * )?
Thank you a lot in advance for collaboration.
    Best regards
    Giou2019

how can I monitor the errors in the HTTP adapter sender in SAP PI?
Alert category option you are trying won't work. The only thing you may check in PI perspective is whether http service is running in smicm. I am not sure but CCMS monitoring could take care of this specific category. Other way without thinking about alerts could be using manual TCPGateway procedure to trace http calls.
    Can I monitor the http adapter sender errors using the field u201CIntegration Engineu201D (u201Cerror categoryu201D = * and u201Cerror codeu201D = * )?
Integration Engine category here won't be actually the http related error, it would be pipeline steps related error.

  • Outbound HTTP adapter and URL parameters

    Hi all
I'm having some trouble with a XI scenario I'm supposed to implement.
I should get invoices from a vendors webserver using a url with parameters (ex. http://myvendor.com/getinvoice.jsp?invoiceid=12345) and send it as INVOICE IDoc to the R/3.
I thought that would be an easy one using the Plain HTTP-Adapter but I can't figure out how to build the URL. Is there a way to do that, or do I need to implement my own adapter??
    Thanks in advance
    Stefan

    Hi experts ,
I have this scenario from Legacy to XI to external app server.I have a test jsp to execute that functionality .Its a jsp which has 1 textarea named "test" and when I click on the submit buton I get a response back. This way I am able to test this independently. Now from XI when I am executing my scenario I am getting status code '1250' and message as ' http request(test) is null'.Now in the scenario in http adapter I just provide the target host : ip of server ,
service number : port no ,
path: the container or the request handler. But this scenario fails and gives me the above erroneous response. Now Basically I am not able to get how to send the value to the textarea "test"? please provide help as soon as possible.Do we have to put the name of the jsp in the "path" in http adapter and use prolog as test= or should it be &test= .I tried this but it doesnt work.So please provide help on this as soon as possible or please suggest a solution at [email protected]
    Thanx in advance,

Kindly help me in this regard

    Solution:
Workaround the issue immediately by removing the "ns1:" qualification on the operation for the binding.jca entry in the composite.xml and redeploying.
    For example:
    From:
    <binding.jca config="BAPI_COMPANYCODE_GETDETAIL_invoke_3P.jca"
    operation="ns1:BAPI_COMPANYCODE_GETDETAIL"/>
    To:
    <binding.jca config="BAPI_COMPANYCODE_GETDETAIL_invoke_3P.jca"
    operation="BAPI_COMPANYCODE_GETDETAIL"/>

  • SAP PI 7.1 HTTP Adapter

In my scenario, SAP PI 7.1. needs to talk to a 3rd party EDI system via web services. SAP PI is using HTTP adapter to exchange XML messages for both inbound and outbound with the EDI system. Questions:
    1. If SAPI PI sends for example 100 (different) messages to the EDI system every day, will PI make 100 web service calls to the EDI system to send each individual message?
    2. Please explain how PI will use the HTTP URL to send the messages to the EDI system. Any document/blogs to explain how HTTP adapter works for exchanging messages with third party systems (web service capable)? Did not find anything good one in SDN.
    3. Any disadvantage of using HTTP adapter, e.g. for high volume scenarios?

    > 1. If SAPI PI sends for example 100 (different) messages to the EDI system every day, will PI make 100 web service calls to the EDI system to send each individual message?
Yes, it will use 100 cals to process 100 individual messages.

    >
When you use HTTP adapter in receiver side, you will specify address of the target system in URL format, that means data will be send it to specific UIRL adress.
    > 3. Any disadvantage of using HTTP adapter, e.g. for high volume scenarios?
i prefer using SOAP adapter for web service cals..HTTP adapter give good perfomance.

  • Configuration of http adapter to reach https-URL

I want to configure a http Receiver Communication Channel that is supposed to call a web service with the following URL: https://api.sandbox.ebay.com/ws/api.dll.
I did the following set-up in the http Adapter:
    Addressing Type: URL Address
    Target host: api.sandbox.ebay.com
Service Number (Port):443 (-> Standard https Port)
    Path Prefix: /ws/api.dll
I startet the process and received the following error message in XI:
"ERROR: The requested URL could not be retrieved. While trying to retrieve the URL: "http://api.sandbox.ebay.com:443/ws/api.dll?"The following error was encountered: Zero Sized Reply. Squid did not receive any data for this request."
It seems it is calling the URL via http, not with https.
Can someone tell me how to change the configuration of the http Adapter that it uses https?
    Thanx in advance.
    Alex

    Hi Alexander,
Create RFC Destination with Connection type ‘G’ using Tr. Code SM59 in XI System and enter all the parameters like TargetHost,(Target System), ServiceNo(external port)and path prefix. In the tab “Logon/Security” enter the login info and enable SSL. Run the transaction STRUST to setup client PSE.
For more info on this refer to help.sap.com at the following <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/65/6a563cef658a06e10000000a11405a/content.htm">link</a>.
In the HTTP Adapter communication channel config in XI ID, Select the “Addressing Type” as HTTP Destination and in the HTTP Destination field enter the HTTP Destination name you created in the above step.
    Hope this helps.

    Sam Raju
