HTTP Adaptor

Hi all,
  I knw dat reciever idoc adaptor supports aknowledgement
  even when not requested by sender . Doest it applies
  for HTTP adaptor also.
                                    Regards,
                                    Pooja

Hi,
By default http adapter does not support any acknowledgement.but you can get i,e http 200 response. ie   It is kind of status/technical ack.
But if you want application acknowledgment , you need to go for Synchrnous call.

    1) pls details about http adaptor scenario ,on which buiseness criteria we have to consider?
    If you are interacting with a HTTP server then http adapter comes into picture.
    difference between business system and business service in ID
    Business System
    1. Business systems are logical systems, which function as senders or receivers within XI. Business systems can be SAP systems or third-party systems. Depending on the associated technical system.
    2. Business Systems should be mandatory used when dealing with Idoc's and Proxies .
    Business Service
    1. Business Service requires manual adding on Inbound and Outbound Interfaces, Business Systems do not.
    2. Business Services are maintained across environments and so, their names cannot be changed. Business Systems names can be changed across environments by providing SLD level transport targets.
    3.In the Business Services we cannot maintain the Group and Targets in SLD. For Ease in transporting your ID/Configuration objects Groups and Targets are used in SLD for Business Systems.
    4.Business Service has no SLD Entries and No Assigned Products and SWCV's

  • HTTP Adaptor for RESTful service calls -- Proxy Settings?

    Hi Guys,
    I have successfully configured an HTTP Adaptor on my Access Server, imported a REST service function, set up DTDs etc etc all ok.
    Now, when it comes to calling this function in a data-flow, the run of the job just times out while calling the function. I have tried this via another route and this time-out occured their too until I entered my proxy server login details.
    I am assuming I need to do this for the HTTP Adaptor but there is no parameter/setting around for me to do this.
    Could you please tell me how I can get my proxy settings in place for the HTTP call? If the solution involves the "axis2" file, please could you give me clear/step-by-step instructions on how to use this and deploy it as that area is all new to me.
    Thanks very much for any help.
    Flip.

    you can set the proxy server details in the Additional JVM Arguments of the HTTP Adapter Configuration using the following syntax. Add this to existing memory setting args
    -Dhttp.proxyHost=<enter proxyserver name> -Dhttp.proxyPort=<enter proxy port>
    have no idea how to specify the credentials, not sure if that can be done using Java arguments, if you are on windows try running the Jobservice under named user, and see if it works

  • HTTP Adaptor - Calling GET operations with parameters

    Hi Guys,
    I have to call a REST HTTP service on an external system. This is a GET operation (that the HTTP Adaptor has an option for so no initial prob there).
    However, a REST GET seems to not accept an xml message as input and in fact needs to be called as a URL string. Further more, the parameter format has to be 'just right'....
    The URL that needs calling is as follows, note the parameter format of <id type>.<value>
    http://somewebsite/api/rest/acs/customer/uuid.1234
    Now, what I don't know is how I can successfully ping this GET service using the HTTP adaptor -- I have been able to define the operation, mark it as a GET etc, but it seems to want a DTD for an input schema and this is not relevant here.... Also, if I didn't have a DTD for input schema, how could I set up the call in a Query transform in any case...?
    I'm looking for advice on the HTTP adaptor generally for REST GET and POST calls, and also for the specific problem as above.
    Any help would be fantastic!
    Thanks,
    Flip.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the response.
    Can you elaborate a bit about the GET/SET and the non-support of REST? One of the settings when defining an HTTP Adapter operation is to specify if the operation is a GET or a POST -- doesn't this suggest that it does know how to call a REST GET in some way? Otherwise, what kind of things CAN be called via HTTP Adapter?
    Thanks!
    Flip.

  • XML Validation on HTTP Adaptor

    Hi,
    We are implementing a HTTP sender channel on PI 7.11 and requires XML validation to be performed upon receiving. The validation is required to check if all the tags are closed and ended properly. Failing to do so, an error XML will be generated and subsequently send back to the sender.
    There is a blog  /people/william.li/blog/2009/03/19/adapter-user-module-for-http-adapter  detailing the development of user module for HTTP channel but we remain clueless on how can we change it to suit our needs. The XML messages can be of different format (different XSD) thus we need to make this as generic as possible.
    Ultimately the intention is to prevent XML to fail at later stage within PI and stopped the communication. Hope any experts out there can point us to the right direction.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Which Adaptor is appropriate please suggest

    Hi All,
    I have the following scenario and want your suggestions:
    A web based applicaiton (say A) to create customer need to integrate with another web based applicaiton (say B) which uses the customer details to display of Applicaiton A... wondering do I need to go for SOAP adaptor/HTTP adaptor or do I need to integrate these two applicaitons at data base level using JDBC adaptor?
    What are the steps/any documentation to get the data from web site to SAP PI when User clicks submit button?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks
    Rajeev

    >>> but my questtion is what needs to be done at Applicaiton A side to create Input and post the data in the SAP PI URL... As they are using the web client provided by the Application provider..Do they have to write code at the submit button of the web page? If so they have to customnise the code delivered by the provider? How it works.. Its been first time going through this...
    Yes, if you create webservice by creating soap sender and give WSDL, then they will have to write webservice client program in java or any language to access your webservice. This program will be called in their side at the time of hitting submit button of the web page.
    For this you have to go through soap sender sdn documents.
    or  As I already mentioned, create HTTP sender and provide your payload structure and url as we discussed in the above replies. A has to create coding to post HTTP using the url during submit hit button on their web page.
    >>Do they pass all the values in the URL or to the URL?
    This is client A's problem. Why do you worry?  There are plenty of documents to do http post.. The below coding is simple snippet..
    Search google for plenty of documents...
    try {
        // Construct data
        String data = URLEncoder.encode("key1", "UTF-8") + "=" + URLEncoder.encode("value1", "UTF-8");
        data += "&" + URLEncoder.encode("key2", "UTF-8") + "=" + URLEncoder.encode("value2", "UTF-8");
        // Send data
        URL url = new URL("http://hostname:80/cgi");
        URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();
        conn.setDoOutput(true);
        OutputStreamWriter wr = new OutputStreamWriter(conn.getOutputStream());
        wr.write(data);
        wr.flush();
        // Get the response
        BufferedReader rd = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(conn.getInputStream()));
        String line;
        while ((line = rd.readLine()) != null) {
            // Process line...
        wr.close();
        rd.close();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    >>Is it possible to use SOAP adaptor instead of HTTP adaptor? so that I can use AAE in the entire scenario. Applicaiton A is a web client interface through which Customers are created.If I need to use HTTP Adaptor, do I need to create HTTP Sender Adaptor and sender Aggrement ?
    Yes, if you host webservice using soap sender adaptor. Already answered above ...
    >> If I need to use HTTP Adaptor, do I need to create HTTP Sender Adaptor and sender Aggrement ?
    no. Http adaptor is in abap stack. so you dont need sender agreement.

    There is not much difference between XI 3.0 with latest Service Pack i.e. 20 or 21 and PI 7.0
    The main difference between 3.0 and 7.0 is the GUI in SLD. But, it is pretty easy to adopt. All other components, e.g. IR, ID, RWB, should virtually be identical.
    7.0 also contain some SCM contents not available from 3.0. For most of us, this is a non-issue.
    In 7.0 we can schedule a background job and edit the payload.
    XI3.0 is based on WAS(web application server)6.40 - NW2004
    PI7.0 is based on WAS(web application server)7.0 - NW2004's
    Currently SP 21 for XI 3.0 and SP12 for PI 7.0 is the latest one.
