Http request missing form data 4.5.1

          We occassionally have problem with an Http request not having the form data that was entered. If you hit the back button and resubmit the form everything works fine.
          We have IPlanet webservers and WLS 4.5.1.

    You should read about TCP and splitting data stream into packets and learn how to understand packet header to assemble stream from packets.
    Actually there are few different stages:
    1. detect handshake to start new empty stream within your code;
    2. detect subsequent packets and assemble stream (there are counters within packet header and they will help).
    After creating start of TCP stream (usually 1KB is enough) you'll be able to detect is it HTTP request/header or no and start logging or ignoring packets for this connection.

  • Http request receives incomplete data

    Hi,
    I have an application reading one free format file via http request. This is implemented as stored procedure in a 8.1.6 database on Windows NT. The method readContent (pasted later on)takes the BufferedReader of an InputStreamReader of the InputStream of the socket connection on port 80, which I opened previously. Here is the instantiation:
    sock_ = new Socket(host, port);
    in_ = new BufferedReader(new
    InputStreamReader(sock_.getInputStream()));
    Everything works fine except that the read method on the BufferedReader refuses to read more than 20764 bytes while the http response header tells me that the content length is higher. If I compare the orginal file with the received one using a hex editor, they are identical, only that the received file is cut off after byte 20764.
    Here is the logfile:
    Request>> GET /download/OMIJID1234.ZIP HTTP/1.0
    Response>> HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    Response>> Date: Wed, 18 Apr 2001 07:26:17 GMT
    Response>> Server: Apache/1.3.14 (Win32) ApacheJServ/1.1.2
    Response>> Last-Modified: Wed, 18 Apr 2001 06:49:46 GMT
    Response>> ETag: "0-58a4-3add390a"
    Response>> Accept-Ranges: bytes
    Response>> Content-Length: 22692
    Response>> Connection: close
    Response>> Content-Type: application/zip
    Now we come to readContent method (see later on):
    Number of chars read 16384
    Number of chars read 4380
    ----------------- so far the logfile...
    The total number of chars read is 20764 as you can calculate easily.
    As soon as I use an orginal file which is smaller than 20764 the transfer is ok. Is there any limitation reading from a socket connection? Here is the code:
    public String readContent() throws IOException
    byte inChars[] = new char[16*1024];
    int nofChars, totalNofChars=0;
    StringBuffer sbuf = new StringBuffer();
    do
    nofChars = in_.read (inChars,0,inChars.length); // here is the problem !
    Log.log("Number of chars read "+nofChars, Log.DEBUG); // this is the line you see in the logfile
    if (nofChars != -1)
    totalNofChars = totalNofChars+nofChars;
    sbuf.append(inChars, 0, nofChars);
    while (nofChars == inChars.length); // loop only if the buffer was filled
    if (sbuf.length() == 0) {
    return null; // nothing read
    sbuf.setLength(sbuf.length() - 2); // cut off the trailing \r\n
    return sbuf.toString();
    I doubled the buffersize of the buffered reader: Same result.
    I tried to check the maximum input length on the socket, and got the next error.
    When I try to measure the actual buffersize with
    sock_.getReceiveBufferSize();
    I receive:
    java.net.SocketException: Unsupported OS socket option
    at
    java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketGetOption(PlainSocketImpl.jav
    a)
    at
    java.net.PlainSocketImpl.getOption(PlainSocketImpl.java)
    at java.net.Socket.getReceiveBufferSize(Socket.java)
    But this method is documented for JDK 1.2, why do I get
    this error ???
    Any ideas with this?
    Dirk

    We have the same problem but our stop at 1790 bytes,
    Do u mind to let us know how u solve this problem
    thanx & regards

  • Get Response after HTTP Request

    Is it possible to display the response after a http request in forms? the response comes from a kind of reader which sends the reading-result as parameters after a request.

    Hello Henry,
    We are firing the CREATE/POST operation in the BATCH mode exactly with the same type of PAYLOAD what you have shared here and we are correctly getting response.
    1st operation was successful and we have got content with 201 Created Status Code.
    2nd operation failed and got 400 bad request with some error.
    3rd operation was successful and we have got the content with 201 Created Status Code.
    I am unable to replicate your problem in my case. Everything is working fine for me.
    Your problem is strange.

  • Java Networking - displaying HTTP Request stream

    Hi all,
    I am using java.net.HttpURLConnection object to get a response from a http server. I need to see/display the actual HTTP Request stream (containing POST HTTP/1.1 etc.) being sent to the server. How do I do it?
    Please help.
    Nikhil

    Pete_The_Hat,
    Thanks a lot for advising the packet sniffer. It works pretty well for HTTP requests. However, for HTTPS requests (SSL), the data in the packets (that I can see through the sniffer) is encrypted. How do I collaborate with the Browser (where the encryption/decryption keys are stored) to see the decrypted/unencrypted code?
    It seems too much of work to manually assemble the encrypted data from different packets and then try to decrypt it somehow.
    What's the right approach to see/sniff unencrypted HTTPS Streams? It appears to me to be outside the realm of packet sniffers because data in SSL packets is already encrypted before packets are constructed.
    Networking Gurus please help.

  • Multipart/form-data using HTTPService, sending a binary file and some text in the same request.

    Hi There,
             I am new to FLEX and also new to writing a client for a web service.
    My question is more about flex (Flash builder 4.5) APIs, what APIs to use.
    I want to access a web service, that's published here.
    https://build.phonegap.com/docs/write_api
    here is the description of webservice
    ===========
    1) I have to do a post on POST https://build.phonegap.com/api/v1/apps
    2) content type has to be "multipart/form-data"
    3) JSON bodies of requests are expected to have the name 'data'
      data will be someting like this
    'data={"title":"API V1 App","package":"com.alunny.apiv1","version":"0.1.0","create_method":"file"}'
    4) include a zip file in the multipart body of your post, with the parameter name 'file'.
    ===========
    I want to make a 'multipart/form-data' Post and send
    one string and one zip file.
    My first question to self was If i send both string + binary data in the body ...
    how will server understand where string end and where zip file starts?
    Then read on W3.org( http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/interact/forms.html#h-17.13.4.2 )
    How is text + binary data can be sent through "multipart/form-data" post requst.
    there has to be some boundries.
    After this I read and example in flex and  tried following it.
    http://codeio.wordpress.com/2010/04/03/5-minutes-on-adobe-flex-mimic-file-upload-for-in-me mory-contents/
    but it doesn't seems to be working for me.

    In the past I have used URLVariables with URLRequest and URLLoader to achieve this kind of requirement.
    Check out http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=17_Networking_and_communications_3 .html which should be useful. My preference has always been to use this style instead of HTTPService objects, giving you a little more control which is what you need here.
    Let me know if you need any more assistance.

  • Hi, I am using HP11 and iPlanet web server. When trying to upload files over HTTP using FORM ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data" that are bigger than a few Kilobytes i get a 408 error. (client timeout).

    Hi, I am using HP11 and iPlanet web server. When trying to upload files over HTTP using FORM ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data" that are bigger than a few Kilobytes i get a 408 error. (client timeout). It is as if the server has decided that the client has timed out during the file upload. The default setting is 30 seconds for AcceptTimeout in the magnus.conf file. This should be ample to get the file across, even increasing this to 2 minutes just produces the same error after 2 minutes. Any help appreciated. Apologies if this is not the correct forum for this, I couldn't see one for iPlanet and Web, many thanks, Kieran.

    Hi,
    You didnt mention which version of IWS. follow these steps.
    (1)Goto Web Server Administration Server, select the server you want to manage.
    (2)Select Preference >> Perfomance Tuning.
    (3)set HTTP Persistent Connection Timeout to your choice (eg 180 sec for three minutes)
    (4) Apply changes and restart the server.
    *Setting the timeout to a lower value, however, may    prevent the transfer of large files as timeout does not refer to the time that the connection has been idle. For example, if you are using a 2400 baud modem, and the request timeout is set to 180 seconds, then the maximum file size that can be transferred before   the connection is closed is 432000 bits (2400 multiplied by 180)

  • Convert XML payload to HTML form data in Receiver HTTP Adapter

    Hi,
    I want to make a HTTP request ( Receiver HTTP Adapter ) to a servlet where I need to send the payload in HTML form format ( name=value ). As per the help document:
    A typical HTML form comprises named fields. When transferring a completed form to the server or a CGI program, the data must be transferred in such a way that the CGI script can recognize the fields that make up the form, and which data was entered in which field.
    The plain HTTP adapter constructs this format using a prolog and an epilog
    Has anyone done this before? I looked through all help documents and forums but in vain. I can resort to Java Mapping to do this but I do not want to re-invent the wheel if I can do it easily using HTTP Adapter Configuration. Please help.

    The parameters available in HTTP adapter for message header are:
    HeaderFieldFive     http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/HTTP

  • Reading the binary data from a http request received via socket connection.

    1. I require to extract the binary data out of a http multipart request,
    2. I have a server socket opened up, which can receive connections over tcp( and therefore http.)
    3. I will require to read the stream, find out the "request boundary identifier", and then extract the different "request body parts".
    4. From there i need to read all of the binary content and put it in a file.
    5. I did some implementation to his effect. but i see that the file that i had uploaded initially if its not a text file, gets corrupted.
    can you please let me know why is that happening, and a probable solution approach.

  • ALSB 2.5 - routing request containing multipart/form-data

    Hello,
    I'm having difficulty routing a request (multipart/data-form with 2 MIME sections) in a
    business service.
    First, I set up the "attachments" variables in a stage:
    <ctx:attachments>
    <ctx:attachment>
    <ctx:Content-Disposition>form-data; name="RI"; filename="RI"</ctx:Content-Disposition>
    <ctx:Content-Type>text/plain</ctx:Content-Type>
    <ctx:Content-ID>1146702408781_1</ctx:Content-ID>
    <ctx:body>
    <RI/>
    </ctx:body>
    </ctx:attachment>
    <ctx:attachment>
    <ctx:Content-Disposition>form-data; name="CI"; filename="CI"</ctx:Content-Disposition>
    <ctx:Content-Type>text/plain</ctx:Content-Type>
    <ctx:Content-ID>1146702408781_1</ctx:Content-ID>
    <ctx:body>
    <CI/>
    </ctx:body>
    </ctx:attachment>
    </ctx:attachments>
    then do node replacements of <RI/> and <CI/> in each
    <ctx:body> section.
    Then in the routing node,
    "Set Transport Headers" for "Outbound Request"
    [x] Pass all Headers through Pipeline
    Add Header
    [Content-Type] --> [Set Header to "multipart/form-data"]
    Then I used Ethereal (network protocol analyzer) to
    observe the raw packets that business service sent
    the request to the target service. It looked like
    the POST httprequest output by ALSB does not conform to
    the other posting programs that I have wrote in Python
    and Ruby. The target webservice rejects the request
    sent by ALSB, but accepts those sent by the Python/Ruby
    programs.
    Anyone here have any experience in how to set this up?
    Thanks
    Charles

    Hello,
    Make sure you construct the attachment variable properly as specified in the documentation:

  • Mutipart/form data in request

    Hi to All,
    I need to get the form bean object values in filter class from the request for doing some validation.
    For get request there is no problem to get the data from the request. But for the 'multipart/form-data'
    after reading the data in filter class , it is not able to retrieve in the action class. But I am using 'RequestWrapper'
    then the normal request datas get losed. I need to get the data from both POST and GET.
    Thanks in adavance ..

    Sunil,
    <u><b>Resstructuring Infocube</b></u>.
    With this function, you can fill an InfoCube with requests that have already been loaded into a BW, or into another InfoCube. You can, therefore, create a new InfoCube in BW, and use data that has already been loaded successfully into the PSA or into the IDOCs to fill the new InfoCube.
    In the InfoCube tree, choose the InfoCube that you want to fill > right click > Administrate.
    Choose Reconstruct > Selection, and, using the selection options, determine the requests that you want to use to reconstruct the InfoCube.
    Select the corresponding requests from the list, and choose Reconstruct.
    <b>NOTE:</b>
    This function is particularly useful, if you are loading deltas, that is, data that you cannot request again from the source system.
    Let me know if you need any further clarifications.
    Thanks
    Ramu

    This error doesn't always appear, there are times that the portal works correct and when I can add items, edit them and save my changes
    Does anyone have an idea where the error comes from? In what direction I have to search? How I can solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance, points will be distributed for helpfull answers

    Hi,
    I didn't place a save button on the RenderListItem but on the Edit form so this couldn't be the issue...
    I solved the error I got when I wanted to save my form
    The edit and delete buttons also work correct...
    I only get the error mentioned above when I press the "new form" button, I created that button with the CreateXMLForms action group that I added in my Collection Grid renderer settings (option collection command group)
    Then I changed my form availibility (System administration ->system configuration ->KM->CM->form based publishing->form availibility->folder settings)
    I created the following folder settings:
    foldername//priority//path//forms to exclude//forms to include
    library//10 //documents/testlibrary//Smarties, QnA,SAP_APP_News//library
    News //10 //documents/News//smarties, library, QnA// SAP_APP_News
    QnA //10 //documents/testQuestionAnswer// SAP_APP_News, smarties, library //QnA
    Smarties //10 /documents/testSmarties
    Did I do something wrong here? What can cause this error? In what direction should I search?
