Hi experts!!
We are getting the error "HTTP_RESP_STATUS_CODE_NOT_OK - 503 Service Unavailable" can you please let me know what are my options to resolve it.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks
- Ravi

Hi Ravi,
Reward points if this helps
The J2EE server might be overburdened and cannot accept the call. The 'Receive'servlet is not called. You will find further details on the HTTP status code definitions under "http://www.w3.org". Check the accessibility of the server by calling: http://<hostname>:<port>/MessagingSystem/receive/AFW/XI.
The Listener Beans of the affected connection (AFW, Marketplace, BC,see above) were not registered or the log-specific Event Handler was not found.
Check out this trouble shooting guide for SAP XI...Section 7.4.4.4 talks about exactly the same problem:-

Error: The error message 503 Service unavailable Application stopped! is displayed.
Description:The server is currently unable to handle the request due to a temporary overloading or maintenance of the server. The implication is that this is a temporary condition which will be alleviated after some delay. If known, the length of the delay MAY be indicated in a Retry-After header. If no Retry-After is given, the client SHOULD handle the response as it would for a 500 response.
Note: The existence of the 503 status code does not imply that a server must use it when becoming overloaded. Some servers may wish to simply refuse the connection.
Possible Tips: Because of J2EE application com.sap.aii.af.ms.app not active
• Try to (re)start the application using the Visual Administrator Choose Server --> Services --> Deploy --> View on Application or restart the J2EE engine
• The problem is that not all J2EE services can be started by the J2EE. i.e Start the Visual Administrator and select Server->Services->Deploy in the tree on the left. On the right-hand side, choose the Runtime tab page. You see a tree in the right window with all applications if you select the APPLICATION radio button. Check if they are running, otherwise choose Start. Usually the J2EE engine starts all services automatically.

• RFC to RFC scenario fails with error

Hello Guys,
In our XI support we found errors for RFC to RFC scenario.
Some messages failed with the below error :
SAP:Category>XIServer</SAP:Category>
<SAP:Code area="INTERNAL">HTTP_RESP_STATUS_CODE_NOT_OK</SAP:Code>
<SAP:P1>503</SAP:P1>
<SAP:P2>Service Unavailable</SAP:P2>
<SAP:P3 />
Latter the new RFC messages were having this error :
<SAP:Category>XIAdapterFramework</SAP:Category>
<SAP:Code area="MESSAGE">GENERAL</SAP:Code>
<SAP:P1 />
<SAP:P2 />
<SAP:P3 />
<SAP:P4 />
<SAP:AdditionalText>com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: Object not found in lookup of RfcAFBean.</SAP:AdditionalText>
Now all the messages are getting processed.
Can you please tell me the cause this happens every now and then.
What is the solution.

INTERNAL.HTTP_RESP_STATUS_CODE_NOT_OK  503
503 Service unavailable
this is because of the server is currently unable to handle the request due to a temporary overloading or maintenance of the server.
Some servers may wish to simply refuse the connection.
you can go for the possible solution as mentioned below:
Because of J2EE application com.sap.aii.af.ms.app not active
1. Try to (re)start the application using the Visual Administrator Choose Server --> Services --> Deploy --> View on Application or restart the J2EE engine.
2. The problem is that not all J2EE services can be started by the J2EE. i.e Start the Visual Administrator and select Server->Services->Deploy in the tree on the left. On the right-hand side, choose the Runtime tab page. You see a tree in the right window with all applications if you select the APPLICATION radio button. Check if they are running, otherwise choose Start. Usually the J2EE engine starts all services automatically.
3. Refer SAP Note 803145,807000,791655
4. In Visual Admin, check if all the required services are running and start them, else restart the Java Stack in the XI server.

Hi Colin,
Quick look into these-
1) Are you able to test the WebService, because the error tells about unavailable...

/people/siva.maranani/blog/2005/03/01/testing-xi-exposed-web-services
2) Is your SOAP Receiver COnfiguration is correct

3) Check the wsdl is correct and try look into the input message for the Webservice(SOAP Adapter)
Have a look into this thread-
503 service unavailable
Hope this helps,

• HTTP_RES_STATUS_CODE_NOT_OK,503 error

Hi All,
I am new to XI.
I have a requirement to place mesage into MQ Series.
While running I find below error.
Can anyone help me on this?
**
*
<SAP:Error xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30" xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" SOAP:mustUnderstand="">
<SAP:Category>XIServer</SAP:Category>
<SAP:Code area="INTERNAL">HTTP_RESP_STATUS_CODE_NOT_OK</SAP:Code>
<SAP:P1>503</SAP:P1>
<SAP:P2>Service Unavailable</SAP:P2>
<SAP:P3 />
<SAP:P4 />
<SAP:AdditionalText> The requested application, AFW, is currently unavailable.
Details: No details available
</SAP:AdditionalText>
<SAP:ApplicationFaultMessage namespace="" />
<SAP:Stack>HTTP response contains status code 503 with the description Service Unavailable Error while sending by HTTP (error code: 503, error text: Service Unavailable)</SAP:Stack>
<SAP:Retry>M</SAP:Retry>

Hii,
Error: The error message 503 Service unavailable Application stopped! is displayed.

• Error Message HTTP_RESP_STATUS_CODE_NOT_OK

Hi,
we upgraded from XI 3.0 to 7.0 and I am currently testing the first scenario (File->XI->BAPI). In SXMB_MONI I am getting the following error message when calling the adapter (extract):
<SAP:Error xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30" xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" SOAP:mustUnderstand="1"><SAP:Category>XIServer</SAP:Category><SAP:Code area="INTERNAL">HTTP_RESP_STATUS_CODE_NOT_OK</SAP:Code><SAP:P1>503 </SAP:P1><SAP:P2>Service Unavailable</SAP:P2><SAP:P3/><SAP:P4/><SAP:AdditionalText><!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<html>
<head>
</SAP:AdditionalText><SAP:ApplicationFaultMessage namespace=""/><SAP:Stack>In der HTTP-Antwort liegt der Status-Code 503 mit der Beschreibung Service Unavailable vor
Fehler beim Senden per HTTP (Fehlercode: 503, Fehlertext: Service Unavailable)
</SAP:Stack><SAP:Retry>M</SAP:Retry></SAP:Error>
Translated: HTTP-response with status-code 503 and description: service unavaillable.
I already checked the related forum threats but could not find any answer to this particular case. I also tried a different scenario (File->XI->File) but I get the same error message.
Any idea what the root cause could be?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
1) Did you maintain Client, userid, password, and lang information in SICF transaction -> sap/xi/engine ? Double click on service and check whether you have entered valid one.
2) check whether r the user is locked or not.
3) check the role of that user Role must be a green indicator in SU01 of XI server.
4) check ur http port that you are using in IS pipeline
http://>host>:8020/sap/xi/engine?type=entry
