HTTP Submit & FORM Post

Where can I find an example of how to submit form data in a format used by HTML forms (URL-encoded Data - HTTP post)?
Im just learning Acrobat 7.xand Form designer 7.x and cant figure out how to attach code to the Submit HTTP button. A client has a generalized forms post decoder/foward as e-mail program. The url would be, for example:
http://www.ourwebsite.org/cgi-win/deField.exe method="POST"
and it needs the Acrobat form to have the hidden field:
femail=[email protected]   (email address to send form info to)
What we really want to do is:
1.     Use an interactive Acrobat form to collect and validate data from users over the Internet (by querying a database) as they fill in the form
2.     Merge both user-entered data, and user-specific data pulled from the db, into the pdf form
3.     Returned the completed form to the user for printing at their location,
4.     And capture the full data into our database.
.Ive scoured the product literature and the dev user forums and seen some limited FAQs and advice but its pretty murky. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You simply have to create a button that retrieves data from this <br />webservice (first you have to create a data connection to your webservice).<br />The third point can be achieved using a print button (that is ready to use <br />in the library). Remember that you can making all the operations you want to <br />do without re-loading the PDF, but simply by doing the call to your <br />webservice after the user filled in the form.<br />The forth point can be achieved using a submit botton that has the <br />controltype set to submit, then you can send your data in the format that <br />you choose. Of course, in the submit URL you can specify an email.<br /><br />Sorry if I don't understand your request :)<br /><br />Ciao,<br />Alessio<br /><br />Bye,<br />Alessio

  • Http Submit Form Button to New Window

    Hello,
    Does anyone know how to make a HTTP Submit Button open in a new window rather than the same window?
    I have a form that I need the user to print off as well as click a link so they can pay with Paypal. The problem is that if the user clicks the pay with paypal button before the print button, they will lose all of their data in the form.
    Here is the form if needed: http://staging.ebizresults.info/wsra-pdf/membership_flat.pdf
    Any help would be great. I am using Acrobat 8.
    Thanks,
    Pat

    Somethings I forgot to mention. First, I'm fairly new to Acrobat, so I'm not really sure what you're talking about.
    Second, I imported HTML code into Acrobat to get the form. Then I opened the form in LiveCycle because I didn't know how to get the email buttons and submit buttons on the page. So, I am working with a flattened PDF.
    I'm not sure if this make a difference or not, but it's a button not a link.
    I still have the unflattened pdf available to me. Is it in my best interest to avoid flattening the file? If this is the case, any advise on making submit buttons and whatnot myself?
    Thanks,
    Pat

  • HTTP Multi-Form Post - And Config?

    Hey Everyone,
    I'm stuck on a situation where my code in PRD does not behave like my code in DEV and QAS. This code is a simple multi-part HTTP post to an external system. Nothing special. There are two variables in my equation:
    1. DEV and QAS are on a higher kernel level than PRD. The kernel has not migrated that far yet.
    2. I have the cryptographic library active on DEV and QAS, but not on PRD. Like the kernel, it has not migrated there yet.
    Mind you, I've double checked the SICF and SMICM settings to guarantee they are identical in all systems. Is there something else that I have missed?
    I have seen situations before where kernel applications have "tightened the bolts" on weak code, so I thought perhaps my code was "weak." Would someone mind giving a glance over to see if something is missing? Note that it works great in PRD, but not in QAS and DEV. It could be just sloppy code that crumbled under the stringent eye of a new kernel.
    Here is the code...thanks for your attention.

    Update: I've reviewed the system profile, the ICF, the Crypto Library, the RFC, the ICM, rewritten my code in numerous ways, reverted the kernel back to its original level...all to no avail. What did come of it is this...and a lesson I've learned many times and should have been more astute and critical from the start. When the downstream system you are communicating with tells you they have not made a change and it must be SAP...well, make sure they are not lying. "Well, the change we made wouldn't affect that." Oh...really.

  • HTTP Form Post

    Hi,
    I need to emulate an HTTP form post from ALSB 2.5.
    I have the business service defined as Text for both the Request and Response message types. I have a proxy that routes to the business service and sets the Content-type to 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded'.
    But what I'm not clear on is how can I specify the form data set (name/value pairs) in the outbound HTTP request?
    Thx in advance for the guidance!

    You can do it from anywhwere in the pipeline. You can use an assign action and modify the content of $body. Don't modify the whole variable.
    If it still does not work, here is what I would do. Write a simple html file containing a submit and point to a service bus dummy proxy service. Inside the dummy service use a log action to log the content of $body so you have an idea how it should exactlty looks like.

  • HTTP Submit Button - How to post data to an IIS Server

    Hello,
    I have created a simple form in LiveCycle designer. The form only has some check boxes, radio buttons and text fields for users to fill out. Everyone in my office is on webmail so the Email Submit button is not a smooth option for getting the xml data back to me.
    I would like to use the HTTP Submit button to allow users to submit their form data back to me but I am having trouble. I would like the xml files to end up in a directory on the web server.
    I set up an IIS 6 server and granted the Write right to the anonymous web user account. When I fill out the PDF form and click the HTTP Submit button it doesn't seem to work. Are there any special configuration changes I need to make to my IIS server to allow this data to be posted?
    Should this plan work? Should I be able to have users use the HTTP Submit button to post their data right to my IIS web server or is there some Adobe server I need to buy for this simple form? Also, I noticed that when I configure a standard button and set the Control Type to "Submit", there is an option on the Submit Tab to change the Submit As setting to "PDF". Does this mean that my users can fill out my form with Acrobat Reader and HTTP Submit the form to my web server as a PDF complete with their data? If not that's fine, I would be sufficiently happy if the users could post their XML files to the web server so I can open them in the form with Acrobat Professional.
    I am lost and would appreciate any good feedback.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    I think the problem may be missing what "submit" means. Submitting a
    PDF form, like submitting an HTML form, sends information to a web
    program or script, like an ASP, a CGI or a PHP. It does not just "save
    to the server", which seems to be what you are trying to do.
    Do you have the LiveCycle Form Manager product? If not I recommend the
    LiveCycle Designer forum: more folk there to help.

I guess my main issue is that I don't know how to get either web werver to accept data in an HTTP post and save it as a file.
    Also, I noticed that when I configure a standard button and set the Control Type to "Submit", there is an option on the Submit Tab to change the Submit As setting to "PDF". HI again,
    I want to have a pdf fillable form opened on a link.Once user has entered data, the user clicks a button(or some action to invoke saving). At this point I want the filled pdf file to be saved on a certain directory.
    How can save a filled pdf form in pdf format on a certain directory?
    Is it possible to dynamically give the final pdf a name so that it doesnt overwrite everytime it saves the file?

  • HTTP form post from Web Dynpro Java Application without opening new window

    Hi Experts,
    We are trying to submit form data to an external URL from Web Dynpro Java application. We are achieving this with the following piece of code.
      try
       strPrintContent="<html>"+
         "<head>"+
         "<script type=\"text/javascript\">"+
         "function myfunc () "+
         "{"+
         "var frm = document.getElementById(\"paymentForm\");"+
         "frm.submit();"+
         "}"+
         "</script>"+
         "</head>"+
         "<body onLoad=myfunc()>"+
         "<form id=paymentForm  method=post action=\""+merchantURLPart+"\">"+
         "<INPUT type=hidden name=username value="+userName+">"+
         "<INPUT type=hidden name=pass value="+passWord+">"+
         "<INPUT type=hidden name=senderid value="+senderID+">"+
         "<INPUT type=hidden name=dest_mobileno value="+mobile+">"+
         "<INPUT type=hidden name=message value='"+msg+"'>"+
         "<INPUT type=hidden name=response value="+response+">"+
         "</form>"+
         "</body>"+
         "</html>";
      IWDWebResource webResource = WDWebResource.getWebResource(strPrintContent.getBytes(),WDWebResourceType.HTML);
      IWDWindow window = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createNonModalExternalWindow(webResource.getAbsoluteURL(),"WBSEDCL");
      window.show();
      catch(Exception e)
      wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException("Error : "+e.toString(),false);
    But it opens another window. We dont need that. We have to stay on the same window.  Please suggest what can be done.

    Hi,
    You can create a HTML file with the request post parameters and the external URL something like this:
    public java.lang.String GetRedirecturl( )
    // External URL
    String html = "<html><head></head><body onload=\"load()\"> " +
    "<form id=\"form1\" action=\"https://www.abc.com/xyz.jsp\" method=\"POST\">" +
    // Post Parameters
    "<INPUT TYPE=\"HIDDEN\" NAME=\"Param1\"VALUE=\""+Param1Value+"\">"+
    "<input name=\"sap-wd-resumeurl\" type=\"hidden\"/>" +
    "</form> " +
    "" +
    "<script>" +
    "function load(){" +
    "var loc = window.location.search.substring(1);" +
    "var queryString = loc.split(\"sap-wd-resumeurl=\");" +
    "if(queryString.length > 0)" +
    "{" +
    "var resumeURL = queryString[1].split(\"&\");" +
    "if(resumeURL.length >= 0)" +
    "{" +
    " document.forms['form1'].elements['sap-wd-resumeurl'].value= unescape(resumeURL[0])" +
    "}" +
    "}" +
    "document.getElementById('form1').submit();" +
    "}" +
    "</script>" +
    "</body> </html>";
    String redirectUrl = "";
    byte[] byteArrayHtmlData = null;
    try {
      byteArrayHtmlData = html.getBytes("UTF-8");
    } catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) {
      wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException("Internal error occurred. Please try after some time",true);
    IWDResource htmlResource = WDResourceFactory.createCachedResource(new ByteArrayInputStream(byteArrayHtmlData), "Redirect.html", WDWebResourceType.HTML, true);
    redirectUrl = htmlResource.getUrl(WDFileDownloadBehaviour.AUTO.ordinal());
    return redirectUrl;
    Hope this will be helpful.

  • Form with HTTP Submit.. Do I need a Guided Procedure ? How to Configure it?

    Hi masters.
    I have a adobe interactive form with HTTP submit, it works when it runs online, but when I save the pdf file, open, fill and submit, the server does not recieve any request.
    I have read a lot of tutoriais but I still haven´t find a specific tutorial from the begin to the end of this process.
    Should I create a Guided Procedure to recieve this form from http submit ? How can I create it ?
    NetWeaver CE

    Regardless of whether this bar is displayed or not, you should be able to access what is in the "Favourites" folder in a few ways.
    Firstly via the Bookmarks link in Safari. This is the first icon directly to the right of the address bar. Pressing this will open your Bookmarks menu. If you see the word Bookmarks in blue select this and it will take you to the main bookmarks page, and the word Bookmarks will appear in black bold text. If you see Bookmarks in black bold text when first clicking Bookmarks you are where you need to be. The first link on here will be Favourites and have a star icon right next to it, click on Favourites and you will see what has been added to your Favourites folder - if anything.  Also there is an Edit button in the bottom right of this screen, if you aren't going where you expected when selecting a URL in here press Edit, press the > arrow to the right of the favourite name, is the URL correct? If not change it, and click DONE on the keyboard - appears where Return key normally shows on the right-hand side.
    If you are opening Safari and have no tabs already open or have already closed pages so none are open you will see icons that represent the contents of your Favourites folder displayed at the top of the page.
    Also with a page loaded if you click in to the URL field then you will see these icons appear again, together with the keyboard at the bottom of the page.
    Hope this helps.

  • HTTP Submit and email Submit in same form

    Please help.  I have a form that has a "http submit" to a secure payment site (visa, mc, etc) and a "email submit button" within the same form.  The process is that the individual would fill out the form, then make the payment, then submit the filled in form via email.  I am not using one submit button for both, they are separate buttons.
    It seems to want to default to the email submit.  Any thoughts?  Is it just not possible both buttons within the same form?
    Form created with LiveCycle ES 8.2.

    By using the distribute functionality Acrobat.com is overriding the addresses that you have put in with your own. Do not use
    Distribute form and it will work fine.

  • Do you want to submit Form#?

    Not sure if I am doing something wrong but on my form I have a "Save Draft" button that will:
    Set the column [Filename] if NUL
    Set column [FinalizeNotice] to true (used to display a section with a message)
    Submit using data connection to a SharePoint library
    On a new form, if I use the Save Draft button I get prompted to "Do you want to submit form#? Is the form not saved/submitted complete via the rule on the button already? I can see in the library that the file is there and if I select
    Don't Submit and reopen the file all the changes are there. Why is it prompting if there has not been any changes?
    If I open the saved form from the library and make changes and use the Save Draft button it closes without the prompt, which is what I am expecting even on the new form. It is like the name to the form is not updating as I can see top ending of the InfoPath
    filler is showing "Form## - Microsoft InfoPath" on a new form but it will show the actual filename on subsequent loads.

    The new built-in method is to right-click the Back button, or click and hold, to drop down the history list. Someone created an add-on to restore the little drop-down icon if you prefer. (I haven't tried it myself.)

  • How can i submit form-data with acrobat pocket pc

    how can i submit form-data (http-post) on a PPC?
    how can i store the data offline?
    which submit-functions are availabe for the pocket pc reader?
    do i need ARES?
    where can i find a documentation of of the available functions for the ppc version?
    where can i fond form-samples for ppc?
    from the docu on my pocket pc:
    Submit form data using handheld devices over a wireless connection. If you are working offline, the data is temporarily stored, then submitted once a connection is established. Send forms by e-mail or directly to the destination server using a cradle or cable

    To your question regarding the Pocket PC version of Reader, I downloaded Adobe Reader for Pocket Pc 2 and installed it on my HP iPAQ . I then loaded my test PDF file onto the iPAQ. The Reader for Pocket PC preformed an email submission fine. However, I received no indication that anything happened when I tried an HTTP Post. So I think you can only do an email submission.
    In general, I have been testing to see how much I can do without the Live Cycle Reader Extensions, since for sure I will never be able to purchase them. What I have found is that for Acrobat Reader 7, the email submission works for all of the people I have asked to test it, but the HTTP Post has worked for only one of the two people who have tested it so far with Reader 7 (the one for which it worked claims that he only has Reader 7 on his computernot Acrobat).
