Can you please tell us what version of OC4J/JDK are you using ? In what circumstance you got this error and what code generate these exception ?

    Hi,
No... It is yet to be resolved.
Oracle Recommends us to go to 10g ( at least 9.0.4 ) to check the issue.

    Hi!
I posted a TAR on metalink for this "read timed out" problem. This is the answer I got:
apparently the messages that you listed seem refer to a problem in reading request data from the client - so the HttpIOException is triggered.
I have made a little research on HttpIOException in request-reading context. There are only
two situations in which HttpIOException can be raised without an causing IOExce
ption, and I think none of them applies. So we'd have some kind of IOException t
hat causes the HttpIOException. It might well be a SocketException, because the
text "Read timed out" is as far as I know the standard text for SocketException
if the socket's SoTimeout has been reached.
In fact there is a configuration parameter for OC4J (though undocumented), which allows you to set the Socket's SoT
imeout -- and the default is 15000 (measured in milliseconds). The name is "orac
le.j2ee.http.socket.timeout", and it should be available in OC4J 9.0.3.1 and hig
her (I am definitely sure that it exists in OC4J 9.0.4.1).
So can you please add something like "-Doracle.j2ee.http.socket.timeout=120000" to the startup comma
nd for your standalone OC4J container to increase the timeout from 15 seconds to
    2 minutes?
It helped us, although some requests time out "normally" instead.
    /jonas

I suggest you recompile your servlet RegistrationServlet with the debug option that way you will get the line in your source code that has triggered the Exception instead of (Compiled Code). From then on it will be easier for you to start undestanding what's going on.

  • HttpIOException: read timed out

    Hi,
I have a Servlet that receives large XML structures in a soap attachment. The client calls my
    doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) method
and I try to read the request ServeltInputStream by
    BufferedInputStream inbuf = new BufferedInputStream(request.getInputStream());
When I try to read out the inbuf stream I got sometimes the following exception: "HttpIOException: read timed out"
I have no idea why. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Are you using the Orion server ?
(the HttpIOException class is not 'standard' - are you using com.evermind.server.http.HttpIOException?).
In that case, looks like a bug with the Orion server itself :

  • Filter problem with jsp:forward

    Greetings,
I was trying to implement compression filter in oc4j. Basically wrap a HttpResponseServletResponseWrapper using a GZipOutputStream for supported browsers. However whenever for eg: I have a.jsp which does jsp:forward page =b.jsp I can see in TCP monitor IllegalStateException response already committed. But I dont see any stack trace in server logs. The buffer size is 2048 and I am pretty sure it did not get filled up before the forward. I would appreciate if anybody has seen such behavior using wrapped response in OC4j(the same code works fine in tomcat and websphere). Also one thing I observed is that for every jsp:include the filter is being called (to handle this I create the wrapper if its not already there and maintain entry count into filter and decrement when I exit filter and finish gzip response when entry count become 0,which works fine). I believe that this is not a part of 2.3 spec.Even in 2.4 spec if the filter config in web.xml is not set to any value by default the filter is supposed to be in request scope. I really appreciate any pointers in resolving this

I am pasting the stack trace for broken pipe exception. Please let me know if anybody knows the resolution. Please let me know if there is any other way to enable compression of jsp in oc4j in 9 version. The same code works in Jboss/tomacat websphere ! Also from the stack trace we can see that filter is being called for each forward and its not as per 2.3 servlet specification. Even in 2.4 by default the filter is supposed to work at request level.
Also I have another question oc4j seems to be using hard coded value: if length is more than 100k or so it uses Transfer-Encoding chunked. Is there any clean way of disabling this behaviour for .js files? the reason is for some reason Internet explore does not cache the javascript files properly (sporadically ) when chunked response is used for javascript files.

It looks like your PermGen space is too small. Try modifying your opmn start parameters; use java option -XX:MaxPermSize to increase your PermGen space.

  • Internal server error while logging .

    Hi Team ,
we are using Apps 12.0.4 & Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.5.0 - 64bi and running PMF module.
It is a two node architecture with db running on one node and CP,FORMS,admin , web on the other node.
The db node is having 4 CPUS and 8GB RAM which i suppose is very less and needs to be upgraded.
There are approx 261 apps users and size of db is 800GB.
on an average we have 300 sessions at a given time.
We are receiving intermittently the below errors in the error logs on the Apache.

  • Java.lang.IllegalStateException when trying to load graphic from KM

    Hello,
I'm currently facing the following problems. We have a bunch of SVG graphics in a KM-Repository which are displayed to the user. The graphics are embedded in a JSP file. In most of the cases this works fine, but for users with a low bandwith this does not work. An error message is written to the logfile which looks like that:
    serving request (-> 500) - java.lang.IllegalStateException: GET on
http://ourserver.com/irj/go/km/docs/ourRepository/myGraphic.svg expected 377950 bytes, but got
262144 bytes and wrote 196608 bytes. The exception message is: Write timeout. HTTP client read

         at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:853) ...
    Some more facts:
The problem occors on different graphics
The values 262144 and 196608 (from but got 262144 bytes and wrote 196608 bytes) come up in most cases, but sometimes they vary. But all values have in common, that they are a multiple of 4096 (which is the setting of the parameter ServletsLongDataTransferCallbackSize.
According to the SAP Notes 1014039 and 807000 I adapted some settings in our Testsystem:
ServletsLongDataTransferCallbackSize: 1024 (which was set to 4096 before)
ServletInputStreamTimeout: 1728000000 (which was set to 180000 before)
ServletsLongDataTransferTimeout: 1728000000 (which was set to  120000 before)
Unfortunatelly setting those parameters didn't fix the problem.
Does anybody have a clue what I can do? And just for my understanding, what exactly does the parameter, that I have set, effect. The initial values of 180000 (3 Minutes) seem to be enough. Loading 377950 bytes should take much less that 3 Minutes even with a slow connection?
    Kind regards,
    dominik

  • Bottleneck in Large file processing

    Hi,
We are experiencing timeout and memory issues in large file processings. I want to know wheather J2EE adapter engine or Integration engine is the bottleneck in processing large messages like over 300 MB files without splitting the files.
    Thanks
    Steve

    Hi Mario,
We are testing a scenario to find out what is the maximum file size that XI can handle based on the blog
( /people/william.li/blog/2006/09/08/how-to-send-any-data-even-binary-through-xi-without-using-the-integration-repository) without any mapping. Upto 20 MB it works Ok and after that we are getting timeout error .
    Data from Moni:
com.sap.engine.services.httpserver.exceptions.HttpIOException: Read timeout. The client has disconnected or a synchronization error has occurred. Read [1704371] bytes. Expected [33353075]. at com.sap.engine.services.httpserver.server.io.HttpInputStream.read(HttpInputStream.java:186) at com.sap.aii.af.service.util.ChunkedByteArrayOutputStream.write(ChunkedByteArrayOutputStream.java:181) at com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.transport.TransportBody.<init>(TransportBody.java:99) at com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.impl.core.transport.http.MessagingServlet.doPost
This could be due to ICM timeout settings which we are planning to increase.
I would like to hear from others experience of maximum file size that they could process. Ofcouse I do know that it depends on the environment.
    Thanks
    Steve

  • Errors writing to rehydration DB.

    Hi,
We have a BPEL flow that works fine when under low loads but as soon as we test it with a fairly realistic amount of concurrent threads (50+ say) through the stress test utility on the console we are getting lots of errors thrown up on the server console from where BPEL was started. (it may be bad configuration on my part) The errors appear to be around attempts to read/write to the rehydration store while being under a heavy load. - Taking some random (repetitive) errors :

I have looked at the database and everything looks ok there as regards rollback segments etc.. is there anything I should be looking for in one of the settings in Orabpel/jdbc or something else I should be looking for?
I am using a thin connection from 2.1.1 to 9.2.0.4 DB on a RedHat Linux system. Where the errors occur, then that instance doesnt produce an audit trail visible through the BPEL console - but there is definitely a connection as most of the audit trails are being logged..
The flow works perfect - it is only the storing of the audit trail is the problem.
anybody see something like this before - any ideas how I can prevent it?
    Richard.

Thanks for the suggestion around increasing the <transaction-config timeout="30000" /> setting - that seems to have removed the errors coming up on server output for us.
To answer the other question posted - (Middletier vs standalone editions) I am running BPEL PM 2.1.1. and using the standalone oc4j server (10.1.2) that comes built-in within this version. Could you please clarify what you mean by Midtier version? - (standalone vs midtier). Are you refering to doing a reconfiguration to point to a full iAS middletier OC4J container or is it a seperate release I have overlooked.?

  • HTTP post data from the Oracle database to another web server

    Hi ,
I have searched the forum and the net on this. And yes I have followed the links
    http://awads.net/wp/2005/11/30/http-post-from-inside-oracle/
    http://manib.wordpress.com/2007/12/03/utl_http/
and Eddie Awad's Blog on the same topic. I was successful in calling the servlet but I keep getting errors.
I am using Oracle 10 g and My servlet is part of a ADF BC JSF application.
My requirement is that I have blob table in another DB and our Oracle Forms application based on another DB has to view the documents . Viewing blobs over dblinks is not possible. So Option 1 is to call a procedure passing the doc_blob_id parameter and call the web server passing the parameters.
The errors I am getting is:
First the parameters passed returned null. and
    2. Since my servlet directly downloads the document on the response outputStream, gives this error.
'com.evermind.server.http.HttpIOException: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine'
Any help please. I am running out of time.
    Thanks

    user10264958 wrote:
My requirement is that I have blob table in another DB and our Oracle Forms application based on another DB has to view the documents . Viewing blobs over dblinks is not possible. Incorrect. You can use remote LOBs via a database link. However, you cannot use a local LOB variable (called a LOB <i>locator</i>) to reference a remote LOB. A LOB variable/locator is a pointer - that pointer cannot reference a LOB that resides on a remote server. So simply do not use a LOB variable locally as it cannot reference a remote LOB.
Instead provide a remote interface that can deal with that LOB remotely, dereference that pointer on the remote system, and pass the actual contents being pointed at, to the local database.
The following demonstrates the basic approach. How one designs and implements the actual remote interface, need to be decided taking existing requirements into consideration. I simply used a very basic wrapper function.
SQL> --// we create a database link to our own database as it is easier for demonstration purposes

    Database link created.
SQL> --// we create a table with a CLOB that we will access via this db link
    SQL> create table xml_files( file_id number, xml_file clob );
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into xml_files values( 1, '<root><text>What do you want, universe?</text></root>' );
    1 row created.
    SQL> commit;
    Commit complete.

    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
SQL> The concern is the size of the LOB. It does not always make sense to access the entire LOB in the database. What if that LOB is a 100GB in size? Irrespective of how you do it, selecting that LOB column from that table will require a 100GB of data to be transferred from the database to your client.
So you need to decide WHY you want the LOB on the client (which will be the local PL/SQL code in case of dealing with a LOB on a remote database)? Do you need the entire LOB? Do you need a specific piece from it? Do you need the database to first parse that LOB into a more structured data struct and then pass specific information from that struct to you? Etc.
The bottom line however is that you can use remote LOBs. Simply that you cannot use a local pointer variable to point and dereference a remote LOB.
