Hyperion Reports 7.25 Report Runs 10 - 20 Times Slower in FR 11.1.1.3
I exported a Report from Hyperion Reports V7.2.5 and Imported it into Financial Reporting V11.1.1.3 via Workspace. When I run the report in Financial Reporting Studio 11.1.1.3 or Workspace 11.1.1.3 it is 10 to 20 times slower.
Note, no changes have been made to the Report structure or the structure of the Essbase database that is being used as a datasource.
However, the Essbase Version is now 11.1.1.3. It was 7. Also, the server hosting the Financial Reporting 11.1.1.3 application is a VMWare Server - the server hosting Hyperion Reports V7.2.5 was a physical server not VMWare.
The only thing I did notice that was different in the report is when you highlight the entire grid and right-click to view Data Optimization Settings - there is an option in 11.1.1.3 that says "Essbase Queries use MDX" "Combined Queries with Member". This doesn't exist in Hyperion Reports V7.2.5.
Has anyone experience a simlar issue with this extreme performance degradation? I am using more robust servers with faster cpu's and more memory.
I did play around with the tcp/ip settings as recommended in a version 9.x support document, but this did nothing.

Unfortunately I don't have a physical server to play around with. This was one of my concerns with using VMWare.
I didn't make any product configurations for Hyperion Reports V7.2.5. The only configurations I made were for tcp/ip settings.
I did try to run a V 7.2.5 report against Essbase 11 and it ran just as fast as it did against Essbase 7. This definitely leads me to believe the slower performance is related to Financial Reporting V11.1.1.3 or something on the server - note the performance issue is only on reports that retrieve large data sets. For all smaller reports there is no issue.

The first step is to see if the problem lies in the query on the data source or in webi itself. Depending on the data source there are different ways to extract the query and try to run it against the database. Which source does your report uses?
(2). Can you tell me about performance tuning in BO ?
I would recommend to start by reading the administrator's guide. There is a section about how to improve performance.

Crash report runs a long time after startup
Crash report runs for about 1-1/2 hour after startup.
did you check how much time the entire report takes to execute (evn though the first 25 rows comes up quickly). I suspect it is > 30 mins.
OBIEE is not meant as a data dump tool and there is little that could be done. (except better hardware) -
Hyperion Report taking a long time to process local query
Hi All,
I am trying to run a report on Hyperion IR 9.3.1. I am facing a performance issue with this report. I am joining 13 tables using full outer join. Each table is having data about 900 rows and the final output i am getting from the local query is about 11000 rows. This local query is taking a long time to get process about 3 - 5 minutes. I suppose it should run with in 30 sec as number of rows are very few. Can anyone tell me what is the problem with this local query and how the performance of the report can be increased?

UjjawalBe aware that XP takes approx 1gb of your RAM leaving you with 1gb for whatever else is running. MS Outlook is also a memory hog.

In a presentation at one of the Hyperion conferences years ago, Mark Ostroff suggested that the initial be set to the same as Max. (Max is typically 2x physical RAM)

Getting SQLException on DB Login, but Report Runs?????
On all of our JRC-enabled Crystal reports, I'm getting the same SQLException error thrown, however, the report runs OK in most cases. In longer running reports, the user is getting weird JSF state exceptions, HTTP 500 errors, etc. etc. When I look at the log files for our web app, the below error is showing constantly. Any ideas what it means, please?

In some cases they are getting other errors that may or may not be related to this one, very glitchy things like NullPointerExceptions, "Can't use a closed connection" messages, ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsExceptions, etc. and they are not consistent. You run a given report 10 times, you might get these errors 2 of the 10. I agree with Thomas on this. That would be the simplest & fool-proof solutn. Alternatively, you can try to use the stmts: EXPORT/IMPORT TO DATABASE.

Error while running batch in Hyperion Reports
Has anybody run accross this error while trying to run a batch in Hyperion Reports:
Unexpected Error creating query to datasource in createCubeViews:
The book the batch is running is big...Have you ever successfully scheduled a batch? Make sure the scheduled batch name does not contain an ampersand "&" symbol or an apostrophe/single tick symbol. Those cause batches to error out for us.

Hyperion Reports 2.6 updating substituion variables in a prompt
I'm running into a problem where I update a substitution variable on my Essbase server and then go to pull a report in Hyperion Reports v2.6.The report is set up to prompt the user to choose a member from the Time dimension, I have the default set to use the substitution variable 'cur_week'.The problem is when I update the variable on Essbase and pull the report, the report defaults to the old variable value. The only way I can get it to display the new value is to restart the Report Server.Has anyone experienced this? Do you know of a way to work around this?Thanks in advance
Decided to go with a batch script to restart the service on Report Server. Combined with a MaxL script to update the subvariables. Run both back to back and it seems to work.Not the ideal solution, but as long as I don't kick off while a report is running, it seems like it will work.

Financial Reporting batch reports run slow at random
FR reports version: 11.1.2.1
This is a summary of our environment:
-Linux server where Hyperion batch reports run
-Linux (SLES-11) server where Essbase resides
-Windows 2008 server where Hyperion Print Service and GhostScript reside
This is what we observed this morning:
Batch reports are executed serially by a master shell script.
One of these reports takes 30+ minutes to complete. The exact same report usually completes in less than 3 minutes.
This problem occurs 3 to 5 times each morning, and not necessarily on the same report.
While the report shows ‘Running’ in the Hyperion Batch Scheduler, there is no process present on reports server. There is no active session on Essbase. There is no active print process on the print server.
Eventually, the report completes successfully and the pdf file is present on reports server.
We haven’t been able to determine where the process is during the period that it appears to be stuck. The best we can do is to look at the status on the Batch Scheduler. It is not a practical option for us to schedule everything using the Batch Scheduler on a daily basis.(this is what Oracle is suggesting, by the way).
Has anybody experienced similar FR batch reports slowness?

So I installed Hyperion (11.1.2.2) foundation services(all componants), essbase(all componants), planning (all componants. well, it was only one componant), Reporting and Analysis framework (web application, services and common libraries. i installed only these two because hyperion planning depends on them), financial management ADM driver (chosen by default when i want to install hyperion reporting and analysis). i installed them and configured them all togather. I'm using a Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production on Windows 2008 SP2 32bits.
Configuration of Reporting and Analysis framework failed, and that caused several problems when i ran the EPM system Diagnosis. this is what i got. Note: I'm gonna list only the errors/warnings in anything other than reporting and Analysis. as for reporting and analysis, i'm gonna list everything. sorry it's so long....

i have installed Essbase and planning
i have configured work space
http://localhost:19000/worspace
when i am trying to log in to work space the following error is showing
Could not find a Hyperion Reporting and analysis -system 9 server running on Hyperion at port 6800.please verify your server connect string confirm that the server is up
i have started all Hyperion services
could you please help me in this regard,

Unable to register Hyperion Reporting and Analysis with Shared Services
Hello everybody,
I'm trying to install and configure Foundation Services in order to schedule Brio Query documents execution and distribution.
IBM DB2 Express has been installed and configured.
Shared Services have been installed and configured.
Reporting and Analysis - System 9 Services have been installed and not yet configured.
Reporting and Analysis - System 9 UI Services have been installed and not yet configured.
When proceeding with Hyperion Reporting and Analysis configuration in registering with Shared Services, provided with the same host, port, user profile and password used for configuring Shared Services, I get the following message:
"An unknown CSS error occured.
Please check that the information entered is correct."
Messages from configtool.log file:
"(Aug 21, 2008, 09:32:32 AM), com.hyperion.cis.config.CmsRegistrationUtil, DEBUG, Getting CSS instance

LuciaThe service runs until I try to confirm the registration while configuring HRA. Then it stops.
Apologies for the simple question, as I am trying to make the whole Hyperion System 9 running with little knowledge of it: how do I log to shared services?

Can Some One Tell me what Hyperion Reporting Analysis Server Is? How do we get this Installed at Port 6800 and what is the name of the executable.
I can't login into Workspace or Reporting Studio becuase of this server?

Control panel -> Performance and maintenance -> Administration tools -> Services
if required start the service manualy
