Hyperion Reports - Sum of members

Hello, I have a situation in Hyperion reports. We need to calculate sumof 3 members(of single dimension) in Hyperion Reports. These threemembers are mentioned with rows which expand when reports aregenerate as we have other generations level lists for otherdimension. These 3 members are treated like a group for reporting purposebut there is no grouping in Essbase. I cannot use the formula row since I would never be able toguess the number of expanded rows. I cannot use autocalc and supress rows as it will supress theautocalc row too. Is there any way, I may be able to do this. Thanks a lot for helping !!!

cbreyer: I actually am using the sum and autocalc on run time rows. Eg :Suppose I have this outline Structure Products Prod1 p111 p112 p113 Prod2 p211 p212Measure Sale PriceRegion Region1 A01 A02 A03 A04 Region2 B01 B02 B03 Now we refresh (delete/build/load) the application everyday. Newterritories are added and new products can be added.So I want to see sale price for all Regions the I would saysomething like "Children of Region" in the report row.Now since I do not know how many regions we would have I cannot usethe Sum formula as I would have to specify the rows ( but membersin region can change on daily basis.. I dont have clue why businesspeople need that but no other option). Now I want to see the sale price for p111,p112,p211 (they arenot related). This i some ad-hoc grouping needed at times bybusiness. So I will have to mention the three products eithertogether or make a list.If i make a list and mention ListA and do autocalc for products, it willshow me all 3 products and the Calculated Value. If i hide the row,it will hide the autocalc value too. I just need to show the total for 3 products but not theproducts themseleves. so report would be like SalePriceA01 total 100A02 total 500A03 total 600A04 total 700B01 total 200B02 total 100 I dont want my report like this :A01 p111 10A01 p112 60A01 p211 30--------------------------A01 total 100--------------------------....... I am trying to generate report in Hyperion Financial reporting studio 9.3 . I have to pov with one dimension name BAH and we have five members under it. I have to sum four members and generate report and one report with one dimension . should be able to run both things in one report. Is it possible to do it. or else if i have to do it individual how do I do it

Hyperion Reports Page Dimension Auto Calc

In Hyperion Reports 7.x, is there a way to create an autocalculation in the page dimension? Similar to rows andcolumns, I would like to create a "grand total" memberwithin my page dimension that is a SUM of any dynamically selectedpagedimension (when prompted to select any multiple members). 1) Click on the top of the column and then go to the column properties pane on the right. Go to the Suppression section and you have a coulpe of choices. You can choose a Basic option and supress if the column Is Zero and/or Missing values. You can also choose advanced options and click the setup button. A new box will open and give you the ability to set criteria for suppressing the column. For instance if member name of product selected is "Product1" supress, otherwise show the column.2) There is no option, I am aware of, to do this. A non-elegant workaround would be to highlight the text on the HTML page, copy and paste it into Excel. The new version of Hyperion Reports 7.2 now supports exporting reports from HTML to Excel with Formating. I'm not sure whether or not that means headings will be exported as well.3) You have to use the grid POV to do this. Move your mouse to the top left corner of your grid, where the rows and columns meet. Right click and select "Grid Point of View Setup...". Using a prompt in Grid1 also changes Grid2 in Hyperion Reports

In Hyperion Reports, I have a report that is made up of twogrids. The first grid points to an income statement database,and the second grid points to a balance sheet grid. Bothgrids have the same column sets, but different row sets because ofthe different databases. What I am trying to do use a promptto change the members in the columns for both grids. Currently, I have two sets of prompts for the report, one foreach grid - each asking for the same selections. This makesthe report prompts repetitive. Is there a way to have Grid2pull the same members that Grid1 prompts for - similar to the"Same As Member Selection In" function that works for themembers within a single grid? Thanks

Hi Kahlua17, You can define your grids' POVs to "Current PointView". It will inherit the propertie values on the main reportPOV values and display the result you want based on the values youhave set. Ruel

Is there a way to divide two cells that contain sum formulas in Hyperion Reports? Example: Col ARow 1 dataRow 2 dataRow 3 dataRow 4 sum ([A,1],[A,2])Row 5 sum ([A,2],[A,3])Row 6 [A,4]/[A,5]

Hyperion Reports Question...

Howdy!I am using Hyperion Reports 1.7 that was bundled with Hyperion Planning 2.3.1. I have several reports that take advantage of the "Expansion" capabilities, but I don't see a way to make the report "Initially Expanded". Is this possible in this or any future version?TIAJR

You would have to take the children of the parent you want initially expanded, then have the expansion set on those members. So on one line you would have member then on the next line children of member or vise versa.

Top 10 Report Hyperion Reports

I couldn't find anything in the user's guide that walked me through creating a top 10 report in Hyperion reports. Are there multiple steps involved? If so, can you explain what they are? I'm hoping to create reports that will comprise not only top 10, but top 15, top 30, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately you are going to find this difficult. I was very disappointed in Hyperion's lack of functionality in Hyperion Reports when trying to do stuff like this. It's not a great report tool. You can do as Jared mentioned by using the Rank and suppress. the problem you start to run into is when you want to have sub totals. Chances are if you have a top 10, you want a line at the bottom that shows the sum of those ten. This starts to become difficult since you cannot control the order of operations in Hyperion Reports. You wind up having the sum performed prior to the suppression which gives you a useless result that sums all rows, not just the top 10. There are some work-arounds but they complicate the design and wind up limiting the report in other ways.

Error while running batch in Hyperion Reports

Has anybody run accross this error while trying to run a batch in Hyperion Reports:
Unexpected Error creating query to datasource in createCubeViews:
The book the batch is running is big...

Have you ever successfully scheduled a batch? Make sure the scheduled batch name does not contain an ampersand "&" symbol or an apostrophe/single tick symbol. Those cause batches to error out for us.

Hyperion Reporting and Analysis - DAS, IR and Job Services Replication..

Dear All,
We are on Hyperion System 9.3.1 on Windows box and Repository in Oracle 10g Database. We have around 300 Interactive scheduled jobs.
When these jobs are getting executed Hyperion Services are getting hang and In logs we are getting "Process out of memory..".
In order to overcome "Process out of Memory.. Exiting" error. We need to replicate DAS, Interactive Reporting and Job Services on the same machine.
I am doing Hyperion's IR, DAS, JOB Services Replication in Development environment. To achieve the same I performed the following tasks :
# I have installed and configured Hyperion System 9.3.1 below components on MS Windows XP professional SP2 and Repository in Oracle 10g database.
Hyperion Shared Services 9.3.1
Hyperion Reporting and Analysis BI+ Services
Hyperion Reporting and Analysis UI+ Services
Every thing was configured fine.
# To replicate the IR, DAS and Job Services. I started the Hyperion Reporting and Analysis BI+ Setup on the same machine then I select IR, DAS and Job Services.
# Next I started Configuration Utility. Which ask me to configure Database. I selected the same database which I used for BI Services previously. Database Configuration was successful.
# I changed the Port as below
Core Services to 7801 instead of 6801
Chaged the port for Job Service 7796 instead of 6796.
# Next started Service Configurator where System was showing one more Job Service (JF2_<hostname>) in Remote Service Configurator. And in Local Service Configurator System was showing new BI and DAS. Then I configured Data Sources in DAS.
# Started the Services.
Next I started the Scheduled Jobs. It is taking same time as earlier. In logs it is showing that Only JF2_<hostname> Service is getting used. System is not using JF1_<HOSTNAME> anymore.
I have few query regarding this.
1) Why Configuration Utility didn't ask for GSM host and Port? Do I need to configure it manually?
2) I have not chaged the port for DAS and IR Services. my concern is regarding port usage by new DAS and IR Services ? Do I need to configure it or It will be managed by system itself?
Please show me the direction. Any help would be highly appreciable.

We have replicated the Hyperion Reporting and Analysis Services by changing the port number of Replicated Services to non-default port.
Services are working fine.

Hyperion Reporting Studio 9.3.1

Any idea on how to import batch reports from previous Hyperion Reports. Currentyl, I have to import one report at a time and it is time consuming. Also, I would to know how to set up Web Forms and Data Grid in Workspace 9.3.1

I was wondering if you might know what my problem is! (Well hyperion related anyway).
I built an entire development environment for our 9.3.1 systems, including Financial Reporting. I attempted to export / import an entire zip folder full of reports; however, nothing happens on the import! When you supply the file, the status meter starts working and then it quickly ends without any success or failure message. Additionally, when I look in the folders, none of the reports have been imported. At first I thought the issue might have been related to the size of my zip file as I exported a large number of folders/reports. Unfortunately, I still receive the same issue when I try importing a much smaller file of ~10 reports.
Any thoughts as to what the issue might be?

Hyperion Reports 2.6 updating substituion variables in a prompt

I'm running into a problem where I update a substitution variable on my Essbase server and then go to pull a report in Hyperion Reports v2.6.The report is set up to prompt the user to choose a member from the Time dimension, I have the default set to use the substitution variable 'cur_week'.The problem is when I update the variable on Essbase and pull the report, the report defaults to the old variable value. The only way I can get it to display the new value is to restart the Report Server.Has anyone experienced this? Do you know of a way to work around this?Thanks in advance

Decided to go with a batch script to restart the service on Report Server. Combined with a MaxL script to update the subvariables. Run both back to back and it seems to work.Not the ideal solution, but as long as I don't kick off while a report is running, it seems like it will work.

Table of Contents In Hyperion Reports

 Hi, I setup a Hyperion Report with location used for pages. When I print report, I get the expected result of each page being a location I specified, and in the order I specified. I'd like to distribute same report as pdf, but incorporate a table of contents based on page definition in report. Page 1 would have my table of contents, page 2 would have the first location, page 3 the second location, etc. Is this feasible? Thanks in advance for your help. -Carl

Hyperion Reports 7.25 Report Runs 10 - 20 Times Slower in FR 11.1.1.3

I exported a Report from Hyperion Reports V7.2.5 and Imported it into Financial Reporting V11.1.1.3 via Workspace. When I run the report in Financial Reporting Studio 11.1.1.3 or Workspace 11.1.1.3 it is 10 to 20 times slower.
Note, no changes have been made to the Report structure or the structure of the Essbase database that is being used as a datasource.
However, the Essbase Version is now 11.1.1.3. It was 7. Also, the server hosting the Financial Reporting 11.1.1.3 application is a VMWare Server - the server hosting Hyperion Reports V7.2.5 was a physical server not VMWare.
The only thing I did notice that was different in the report is when you highlight the entire grid and right-click to view Data Optimization Settings - there is an option in 11.1.1.3 that says "Essbase Queries use MDX" "Combined Queries with Member". This doesn't exist in Hyperion Reports V7.2.5.
Has anyone experience a simlar issue with this extreme performance degradation? I am using more robust servers with faster cpu's and more memory.
I did play around with the tcp/ip settings as recommended in a version 9.x support document, but this did nothing.

Unfortunately I don't have a physical server to play around with. This was one of my concerns with using VMWare.
I didn't make any product configurations for Hyperion Reports V7.2.5. The only configurations I made were for tcp/ip settings.
I did try to run a V 7.2.5 report against Essbase 11 and it ran just as fast as it did against Essbase 7. This definitely leads me to believe the slower performance is related to Financial Reporting V11.1.1.3 or something on the server - note the performance issue is only on reports that retrieve large data sets. For all smaller reports there is no issue.
