Hyperlink issue CS6

Hi all,
i need help!  hoping someone out there can assist.  I am working in CS6 on a PC.  I've been creating files with active hyperlinks in Indesign, and then making pdfs from these.  Up until yesterday, these were all working fine. Here's what happened yesterday... my company replaced my hard drive completely.  Last friday I was having general issues, so they formatted a whole new drive for me and swapped it out yesterday, rebuilding my profiles etc.  Now for some reason, none of the links work in ANY of the files I created previously (and there are a LOT)... and when I go into the Indesign files the hyperlinks are showing broken and have basically disappeared in the links panel... I'm not quite sure what has happened, but I know it's something with my machine or settings, because when I copy the items with the links out of another file that someone else created (that works fine) and place them in MY indesign document and then try to create a pdf again, the links mysteriously don't work again.  Has anyone seen this happen or have any ideas??? I've tried looking into my preferences but they seem fine. Our IT Dept. does not know anything about the software itself.  I would greatly appreciate any assistance.  Thank you in advance.

I don't want to sound diplomatic but honestly I have no idea when the fix will be rolled out for this bug.
I know that engineering team is working on it and the bug is under review.
The workaround for now suggested by them over the bug is  :-
""The current workaround for the same could be to use the Panel to enter the URL and not the Hyperlink Dialog. That is if we write the URL in the URL field available in the Panel and hit return to apply the URL this problem does not occur. This problem only occurs if we Open the Hyperlink Dialog to apply the URL ""
Would appreciate if you bear a bit longer.

  • Hyperlink issues in InDesign CS5 and CS6

This might be obvious, but it's driving me insane. I'm highlighting text and linking to external URL's from InDesign.  In InDesign it seems to keep rewriting the hyperlinks?  When I highlight and change it to a specific URL, I'll highlight another one and then the previous hyperlink goes to another URL in my hyperlinks list?  Does this make sense?  Anyone else have this problem?  I'm just trying to build a resume and link to websites.  Microsoft Word does this fine.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Gerry

Works fine for me, might be the process of how you create the links. My process is simple, I highlight the text "One", and then in the URL: box type in the website then hit return when done.
Thinking this thorugh some more, I believe you may be not selecting the entire hyperlink use "Go To Source" to select the link entirely.

  • InDesign CS6 (8.0) URL Hyperlink Issue

When creating a hyperlink to a URL with a "?" or "&" InDesign converts these to "%3F" or "%26" which breaks the link. Is there a workaround so my links will work?

  • Bridge Issue:  CS6 Unresponsive, how to make it respond?

2 second lag after clicking on any menu item.
4-8 second lag after right clicking on any image.
3 second lag while selecting images with arrow keys.
2 second lag selecting multiple images
    My system is high performance:
    . 12 Core 3.3Ghz Xeon Processors
    . 24GB RAM
. Primary drive is 8 SSDs in a RAID0 configuration
    . Dual nVidia Quadro FX5400
    . OS: Win7 x64
CS5 and CS5.5 were very “snappy” in responsiveness on this system.  CS6 Bridge works fine on my laptop, perfectly responsive.
Once Camera RAW or Photoshop are open, no issue working in these tools, so, the issue is bridge.
Here’s my debugging steps which have not worked to fix the issue:
Installed the latest camera RAW plug in from Nikon.  Nikon D800 RAW .NEF files work in windows explorer and in CS5.5.
    Installed all windows updates
Installed the lastest nvidia FX5800 card drivers
Uninstalled all Adobe products (reader, media player, etc.)
Uninstalled all plugs ins (HDR, noise, etc.)
Checked there are no fonts on the system (no TTF files)
Uninstalled Office 2013 to make sure there were no system font issues.
Uninstalled all Nikon software except the RAW plug in.
    Deleted C:\Program Files\Adobe and C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe
Searched for any Adobe reference in c:\Users\<my_username>\ (example AppData), and deleted it.
Cleaned the registry of any reference to Adobe or any dll related to Adobe or an Adobe plug in.
    Rebooted multiple times.
Re-installed CS6 Master Collection.  At this point it did not recognize my raw photos (.NEF from a Nikon D800).
    Installed all Adobe Updates.
The updates fixed the camera raw issue
Ran FontTest.jsx – all fonts passed, none failed.
    Tried Preferences:
Advanced -> Use Software Rendering : CPU utilization went up, but, no impact on the lag
Startup Scripts : Disabled all but Photoshop CS6
Increased Cache Size, Compacted Cache, Purged Cache, Different Cache organizations, etc.
Does anyone know how to fix this

I talked to support on Thursday and was told that someone would call within 3 days.
Of course no-one did. Adobe have gotten too big and when that happens support becomes bad, very bad.
The last problem I had with bridge was all the 'file type associations' were lost. I thought being a paying customer I will call on their help. Again Crap support, kept telling me the same thing set each one up individually. In the end I found a registry hack that sorted the problem out.
I’m all up for being legal and pay a lot of money on software making sure I am but I do understand that when a large company offers such bad support why people start thinking why pay.
Surely part of the Cloud subscription I pay should enable me to get support others who use the software illegally don’t get. Of course in reality I don’t. I don’t get any useful support.
I have to repeat myself for every department, wait around for calls that never come and hunt the forums for people who seem to do better jobs in informing others of how to solve problems.
I will keep updated on the problem as I know more. I will also like anyone else who is having to problem to message here.

  • Hyperlink issue in Smartform PDF

    Hi  All,
I am facing below issue with Smartform after it converted to PDF. The PDF file has below link
    (http://www.vocakiri.co.uk/_assets/media/StandardTC3_(including_REG_31_Requirements).pdf) in footer window.
But when i am selecting the hyperlink it is getting truncated as "http://www.vocakiri.co.uk/_assets/media/StandardTC3_" .it opens window with truncated
web address which leads to error.
could you please let me know what is the problem or is there any note need to be applied.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Prasanna B

    Hi Prasanna B,
    See thread http://scn.sap.com/thread/1819587.
You can try using the callback method described in the following Notes:
622718 - SF Web Forms: Callback for the URL format
707931 - Web Forms: Incorrect URL address with the HTML output
You can get a different title of the link by using a kind of user exit for the URL processing, which is described in Note 622718.
You must create your own function module with the following interface:
    *"  CHANGING
    *"     REFERENCE(DATA) TYPE  TTXCTOKEN
    Data: i_data type STXCTOKEN,
(see note 622718; TTXCTOKEN is an internal table of type STXCTOKEN)
Now when you call the function module of the Smart Form, you should fill the parameter OUTPUT_OPTIONS-URLCALL with the name of the new function module. As a result your function module is called, when the URL is processed by the Smart Forms composer.
This method allows you to use a shorter alias for a longer URL link.

    Aidan

  • Image hyperlink issues in PDF creation using Acrobat 9.0

    Hi All,
I am using Acrobat 9.0 Professional for creating a PDF of a web site hosted on my local IIS server. All the web pages contain:
               1. A single large image and some description text.
               2. Few hyperlinks mapped to the various areas/locations of the image. The hyperlink is visible when user moves the mouse cursor to that specific area/location on the image.
These hyperlinks work correctly when the web page is viewed in any browser but when the web site is converted to PDF, we observed the following problems with the image hyperlinks:
         1. The hyperlink area (rectangular) on the image is shifted from its original position.
         2. The hyperlink area (rectangular) on the image grows bigger than its original size.
(The original position and size here means the position and size of the hyperlink as on the web page respectively).
Surprisingly these issues do not occur if a PDF is generated of the same web site using Acrobat 8.1.0 Professional.
I searched the Adobe website for any service pack/updates that could resolve this issue in Acrobat 9.0 Professional but could not find any.
I will be really thankful for any help provided.
    Regards,
    Santosh.

In my case it's with .puz files, which are crossword puzzle files used by sites like the New York Times and read by the application AcrossLite. I went into preferences and tried to change the action for the file type from "Save File" to AcrossLite but it would not take. Set it instead to "Always Ask" and then in the dialogue box selected AcrossLite and "always do this" and it gave an unknown error.

  • Hyperlink issue in PDF

    Hi Folks,
I am crashing my head under this issue but no luck.
I had some hyperlinks in my indesign CS5 document which have a shared folder destination for hyperlinks in page items. Now if I tried to jump to destination from Indesign document it directs me at correct folder so far so good but as I export this document to PDF and in PDF if I try to click on the link it directs me at browser and obviously alerted that URL not found.
Is there is some work around to fix this discrepancy or this a bug of Indesign CS5.
    Thanks
    Mac

    Thanks for quick reply,
I've patched my Indesign to latest patch. Hyperlinks destination is in folder itself not prompting to open any file (e.g. \\\\tewaveserver\\source).
while opening in Acrobat, It addes the path PDF file is saved (e.g. /C/productpdf\\tewaveserver\source) where "/C/productpdf" is the path where PDF is saved.
I saw one relative thread to forum and unchecked the option in PDF preferences->internet->Display PDF in browser. though it stoped now browsing link in internet but still not opening respective folder also.

  • Folio builder panel issues - CS6 - Mac

My folio builder panel is just blank. Not sure why. I use it once a month for a monthly issue of a magazine of sorts, and went to use it today and there is nothing visible. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Uninstall and re-install the Digital Publishing Suite Tools for CS6. If that doesn't resolve the issue, un-install and re-install InDesign CS6.

What's the best Grayscale profile to use... for offset printing?
That's like asking "how big is a bread box?" For a sheetfed press on caoted stock I tend to use Dot Gain 20%, but you should probably ask the printer.
You can create a custom gray profile using the Black Ink from your CMYK profile that you would use for that press for grayscale conversions in Photoshop, and ID will give you a better output preview.  Edit Color Settings... and in the grayscale dropdown choose "Load Gray" then pick your CMYK profile from the open dialog (you may have to browse to find it). Save the settings file. Bad news is I don't know how to get that converted into a custom ICC profile that you can load and choose in ID. Perhaps Rob knows and will see this.

  • Hyperlink issues in Converted Project

I've just recently upgraded to RoboHELP Version 8 to get a better results on the the full text search in WebHelp (the output of our choice). The conversion appeared to go great and I've been happily working away on new content.
As our developer is still changing screen names etc in the development cycle of a new product, I have been using variables for all screen names so that I only need to change the value in one place when they come up with yet another U-beaut name for the screen. Quite often I would also insert a hyperlink over the variable to another topic.
Unfortunately, when I had to revisit one of my existing topics I've found that any hyperlink that has been inserted on top of a variable in a table or drop-down seems to have been lost. This means that nearly 75% of my hyperlinking has gone west!
Has anyone else experienced problems in this area?  I did try searching to problems with Version 8 which brought to light a couple of other little issues that I'll keep an eye on but couldn't see any queries about variables and hyperlinks.
Regards from sunny Brisbane (Queensland, Australia).

    Hi Kathy
Indeed sometimes working with variables can seem pesky!
My initial thought pattern upon reading your issue was that RoboHelp 8 supports formatted variables. This means that your variable may contain a hyperlink. w00t!! Then I had a big ole Homer Simpson style D'OH! moment and smacked myself on the forehead as it occurred to me that if you did that, it would certainly work and preserve the hyperlink but ALL instances of the variable would share the same link destination. And that's likely not the case, eh?
I just tested this action with my version 8 and found that RoboHelp HTML seemed to work fine to place a hyperlink over a variable. I closed the topic and reopened and it left things intact. I closed the project and reopened and it left things intact.
Naturally this causes questions to be begged:
How exactly are you creating the links?
How exactly are you testing to see that the links are failing?
    Cheers... Rick

  • Hyperlink issue in FCKEditor

    Hi all,
I have this requirement of creating a framework for an application without the actual contents in the pages. I am using FCKEditor in all regions so that at a later point, we could enter the contents. I do this by creating a Text Area item & displaying it a HTML Standard Editor. The issue now is that hyperlink functionality doesnot work. I believe there is an issue with uploading images. Please let me know if there is a workaround to resolve this at the earliest.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Mohammad,
There should be navigation defined for this. Check the get_p method of the attribute where you have hyper link. At the same method you will see the event name for fp_onclick property.
In the event which you got from get_p method there has to be navigation logic written to navigate to other view. See whats happening there which may help you to move forward.

  • Printing issues CS6 on Mac 10.9 Mavericks

I have a strange problem which I am sure is something I am overlooking in settings.
Whenever I print from PS CS6, the printing process does what I would call a 'high quality image' type print, rather than a quick 'draft'.
Now, I don't know whether this is a Mavericks thing or not as I very rarely print from PS, and it could have been happening for months.
Even if I print a word of text, the printer - HP 5520 - does multiple carrier returns to produce the print, and printing a whole page can take a couple of minutes rather than a few seconds.

Still no-one able to help on this?
It's driving me crazy. I can't print from Photoshop because of this issue.  I have to save everything to pdf and print from Illustrator.

  • Export to .PDF, hyperlinks issue

    Hello,
I've been working with Crystal Reports 2008, and so far it all seems to be going well. There is only one issue that I've come across, and I was hoping for some direction.
For some reason, when I export my form to .PDF, all hyperlinks are removed... I've found that I can export to RTF, then to .PDF, but this sometimes causes some formatting issues.
Is there any way for crystal reports to keep their hyperlinks when exporting to .PDF?
    - Scott

    Hi, thanks for your reply,
You know, I've never tried it just out of Crystal Reports 2008 until now. I ran the report, then in the preview tab, I clicked on the field that had the hyperlink formula in it...
Clicking it just selected the textbox. I tried the same thing in CR2008 Viewer, with no success. The odd thing is that, if I export the report to rtf, excel, word, html, etc. the hyperlinks are there. It's just not there in the viewer, or in the exported .PDF.
I'll explain how I did the hyperlink, and hopefully you can tell me whether I'm doing something wrong.
I have a field in our database with the full path to the document that I want to link to. The path is similar to
xx.x.xx.xx\subfolder\subfolder\filename.PDF. This path will work so long as the report is being viewed on a PC connected to our local network (which it is).
Then, in my query, I select the path as one of the database fields. If I just put the field into a text-box, the value is printed correctly, so my query is grabbing the correct path.
Then, on the text-field that I want, I right click, select 'Format Text...' and select the 'Hyperlink' tab. Then I set the hyperlink type to 'A file', and under hyperlink information, I select the formula button. I then bind the formula to the field with the path in it, save changes and retrun to my form.
Within CR2008, it doesn't look like there are any hyperlinks, and clicking the field just selects the text. If I export it to .rtf, excel, word, html, etc. the link is there, and it works fine. As I've said, it's just the CR2008 viewer and exported .PDF files where the hyperlink doesn't appear.
Now, on a whim, I decided to just type the path into the 'file path:' field in the hyperlink tab. Doing this manually allows the link to be clicked in CR2008, but I still can't get the exported .PDF file to recognize the hyperlink. Even if setting the static path allowed my links to be maintained in an exported .PDF, I need the Path to be set based upon the field in our database.
So, that's where I am now. If you can see something I've done wrong, or something that I haven't tried, please let me know. This is the only thing that I've come across that is causing me any trouble so far. I would appreciate any help that anyone could offer, Thanks.

  • Missing Plug-ins issue (CS6)

Hi all, I have upgraded from CS5 to CS6 and ever since then, I have had issues with missing plug-ins. Every file I open pops up with a message that it has missing plug-ins and when I want to package the file, it say's that "the document cannot be packaged due to missing plug-ins. Please install or activate these plug-ins: XMPBackEnd7.InDesignPlugin."
I am unsure what to do with this and how to go about activating/installing the correct plug-in for CS6
If anyone coul help me that would be great!

It sounds like you probably had a plugin from XMPie installed in CS5. If you need that functionality you'll need to install in CS6 as well.
