HyperMenu - a dmenu-based utility that features a TODO list and more

HyperMenu is a multi-purpose, dmenu-based utility that features a TODO list manager, note manager, calculator, applications menu, system menu, weather menu, and a GTK2 theme switcher. Designed for speed and efficiency, the program's name was inspired by the "hyper" modifier key on most keyboards, often labeled with a menu symbol. In fact, it is highly recommended to bind HyperMenu’s commands to hotkeys with sxhkd, xbindkeys, or any other X keybinder.

I will address the issue with xdpyinfo soon. I made xdpyinfo a dependency for now. It's used for grabbing the screen resolution, which is used by dzen2.

Here is my response:
1) Done. I hope you are starting hypermenu with hotkeys though, and not just running hypermenu through the terminal
2) I installed the dmenu package that has transparency (dmenu-xft-transparency), but I could not get it to go transparent with the opacity parameter: -o. Is this what you have in mind?
3) With dmenu, all lines that are selectable can be "clicked". So I don't think there is a way to do this unfortunately.

6) I will look into this. I already have a script that scrapes accuweather. What website would you be using to get your weather, seeing that you are in Italy? Does accuweather work well?
I uploaded my revisions to git and aur (I haven't updated documentation yet though). Be sure to remove your settings file, so that a new one will be generated with the new variables. Be sure to set "SYSTEM_WWW_IP_SHOW" to true. It's disabled by default because it can cause the menu to start up slow, since it has to wait for a website to spit out the IP. However, there is a way to speed things up... see below.
Also, there is a new optional dependency, dnsutils. If you have dnsutils, then the IP lookup will be faster since it will go through DNS (OpenDNS), rather than from a website like icanhazip.com.

Create a workflow that pulls data from a list based on a person in the list and emails that person

I am trying to create a workflow in SharePoint 2010 using SharePoint Designer.
I have a list [ExceptionList] of users each associated with a sponsor. A sponsor can have multiple users aligned to them. I need to create a workflow which emails the sponsor with their associated users.
Example:
John, Bill, and Kelly are listed with Bob as their sponsor. I'd like an email sent that will pull the names of John, Bill, and Kelly into the email so that Bob can validate that he is still their sponsor.
I know how to create the basic workflow email, but am not sure how to pull in the related names into the body of the email. I assume I will need to build a string.
Anyone know how to achieve this?

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to use workflow to send an email to the sponsor with the users’ names who are belonging to the sponsor.
I recommend to create another list to store the users’ names who are belonging to the sponsor and then email the sponsor with the values in the list.
In my test, I created another list called test list and created two columns: user(store users’ names) and Sponsor(store sponsor’s name). Fill the list with all the sponsors and leave user field as blank.
After that, create another workflow associated with the ExceptionList to get all the users’ names who are belonging to a sponsor to fill in the user field in the test list and set the workflow to start when an item is created.
And then you can send email with the value in the user field in test list to the sponsor.

Everytime I open Firefox - it takes a really long time and reopens the Firefox Update tab that says "Choose your Persona" and "More ways to Personalize" tab along with my regular home page tab. Sometimes it tries to load the add ons too and takes a reall

Every time I open Firefox it tries to install the same updates (that I don't want) and the Firefox 3.6 "Choose Your Persona" etc. tab opens along with my home page tab. It takes a really long time to get onto Firefox because of these problems.

Well, this worked on my desktop! But my problem is on my laptop. :-) I'm running XP, but there was no "Username" under Documents and Settings under the C drive. I did a search for those file names and it wasn't there. I found Mozilla Firefox folder under: C\Documents and Settings\ All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Mozilla Firefox. There are 2 - 1 is Mozilla Firefox (shortcut) and the other is Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode). I did a Mozilla Firefox search and this is all that showed up.
When I click on the shortcut link (the 1st one), it opens up 2 screens of Firefox. One is the "this is embarrassing" screen. The other is "Choose your Persona" screen. I closed it and reopened and it took me to my home page.

I have been searching for a month for a Notetaking app for the iphone which has these attributes:
able to import/export notes from some form of text file suchas csv. I need to bring over a large number of notes from my android phone. I can perl-script and should be able to massage my data into any format requiredby any text-based importer. I would expect this feature to be based either on itunes or a proprietary sync program on a Mac.
encryption (not just a password), preferably AES-256 bit orhigher
features categories, tags, or folders (any one of these isfine)
able to backup and restore notes in encrypted form, in caseof loss of device
You would think this is a very basic set of features, but I have notbeen able to find anything on the App store that includes all of thesefeatures. If you know of any such app, please let me know.

There should be some utilities that might do that on macupdate.com if you search around in there. It could be done as a macro action in Photoshop, but that's an expensive solution for this. VueScan could also potentially do it, but is also not cheap.
Also, some of the utilities that come bundled with scanners may be able to do this, but only when running the scanner they came with.
Definitely the features exist on the Mac like auto-recognition of multiple images on a page, auto-rotation, auto-levels, PDF export etc. You just need to find them in the right combination in the right app.

Not able to delete app icons that are in loading stage and more than 20mb, so cant be loaded completely.

Try resetting the iPad. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears and see if the loading icon is still there.
If that doesn't work, try deleting the app from the iPad and then sync it again. Delete the app by syncing with iTunes and deselect the app.
While your iPad is connected to your computer and iTunes is running, select your iPad on the left side bar, click on the apps tab in the iTunes window on the right, Uncheck the box next to the name of the app and then sync (click on apply) to remove the app from the iPad. Restart the iPad - hold down on the sleep button until the red slider appears, then slide to shut down, hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears to start up.
Then connect the iPad to the computer again and go through the same process except this time select the app and click on apply to put it back onto the iPad.
See if that doesn't remove the loading icon.

Formula that checks drop down list and then sums

I have a table with a drop down list with two values: '$' and 'Hr' (cell called 'PType'). There is a cell called 'Proposed' that contains numerical data. The table is dynamic and can have more cells inserted via a button within the row. I have a totals section that I want to total the SUM of 'Proposed' if the value in 'PType' is '$'. I can't figure out what type of statement will allow me to write this.
For now, my solution has been a hidden column whose cell simply states:

    Proposed
endif
Then, in the totals section, I sum this hidden column since a value outside of '$' returns a '0' and won't affect my SUM.
I am looking for a formula I can write that does this within the totals cell instead of having two cells.

No one I know, that has a 3GS, has experienced any "slow down" problems, nor am I aware of any such widespread problems. If there were, this forum would be flooded with posts attesting to such...it is not. Millions of this units were sold & the vast majority of users have zero issues.
Everytime Apple updates the iOS, reports surface of floods, people going bald, their pets run away, their house burn down, etc., etc. Been like this since the first iOS update. Widespread? No.

HELP! I need audio CD burning software that features "gain" control...

...that ISN'T Roxio Toast!
(I realise that this is not a question about iTunes specifically, but I wasn't sure where else to post this.)
I burn a lot of compilation CDs for the car, and for years I used Roxio's Jam 2.5 and 2.6 because they allowed me to adjust the gain (volume) of each track for consistent volume overall. The software was light on features but it worked reliably and predictably. (Supposedly Jam 2.6 works with OS X 10.6.x, but I never could get it to launch.)
I reluctantly purchased Toast Titanium (and have updated to 11.1), and while it technically works, the app is more than a little clunky, frustrating and half-baked. For example, the latest update appears to have fixed the "sticky" gain windows that would open far longer than needed, but now the software cannot navigate through ANY of my folders or hard drives after typing Command-O to open an existing Toast file. Pathetic! (Do they not test their own product at all?!)
Can anyone recommend any other software that was designed specifically for burning audio CDs that features at least gain and crossfade controls? I'd love nothing more than to ditch Roxio products once and for all!

I would recommend at least downloading the trial version of Sound Studio and trying it out. I work for Freeverse (the publishers of Sound Studio). I asked around, and there have not been any complaints about the pitch adjuster in the latest version 3.5.5, AFAIK. You can adjust the pitch and tempo independently.
The trial version is fully functional, and is only limited by the number of times you can launch the program (10 times).

Typing into url field used to send me to google search, now it's a total crap generic search. wtf? What happened? I pretty much hate v.4 right now and wish I never upgraded :P

Entourage error 'could not open that feature end of file reached

When opening Entourage I received the error 'Could not open that feature. End of file reached' I tried Utility and rebuild. when attempting to rebuild a pane came up stating 'preparing to rebuild 0 of 0' and the pane has been stuck there for 8 hours. Every other office product works though. any ideas?

One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

Error when loading web-based utility

i have numerous errors when i attempt to load the web-based utility in both IE and Firefox. most of them are java errors and seem to be related to the font. i've updated the java on my machine. i've also reset the router numerous times. part of the page will load but most of the options are missing. i'm at a loss to try to get the page to load correctly. please help!

These are JavaScript errors and no Java errors. Java has nothing to do with them. Updating Java won't make any difference.
Do you run any software firewall on the computer? As the problems occurs on IE and Firefox it could well be that your firewall damages the JavaScript in the web pages. Firewalls like to do that to protect your "privacy".

How do you browse the catalog by release date? I would like to see all the new releases in specific catagories but it seems that feature went away. Or can you browse the whole catalog by release date?

Tap Bookmarks. Highlights and Notes appear in their own section under Bookmarks.
Can I share my thoughts about my books with my friends?
In iBooks for iOS 3.0 or later and in iBooks for Mac, you can share highlights and selections on Facebook, Twitter, Messages, or Mail.
Can I change the appearance of my books?
You can change EPUB books, but not PDFs or books created with iBooks Author. Here's what you can adjust:
Set the font size and choose from five included fonts.
Adjust the brightness of the device's display to comfortably read your books in any lighting. In iBooks 4.0 or later, you can use the following themes: White, Sepia, and Night. Select the Night option within iBooks to read books in the dark. You can turn on the Auto-Night theme to automatically switch to the Night theme in low light.
Change the appearance of books by adjusting the contrast setting on your iOS device. To adjust the contrast, tap General > Accessibility and select White on Black. When you open iBooks, you books will have white text on a black background.
In iBooks 3.2 or later, you can use the Scrolling View to read your books in a continuous scroll. You can use this feature in any theme.
Can I read my books while my device is in airplane mode?
Yes, you can read your books while the device is in airplane mode. You don't need an Internet connection to read books downloaded to your library.
Does iBooks include a dictionary?
Yes, iBooks allows you to look up the definition of words using an English, German, Spanish, French, Simplified Chinese, or Japanese language dictionary.
Can I install and use custom fonts?
No, not at this time.
Can I print my books and PDFs from iBooks?
You can print PDFs and notes you've entered from iBooks; however, you can't print EPUB books.2 You can also email PDFs and notes you've written from iBooks.
Printing from iBooks requires an iPad, Phone, or iPod touch with iOS 4.2 or later and iBooks 1.2 or later with a supported AirPrint printer. iOS 4.2 and iBooks 1.2 aren't compatible with original iPhone or iPod touch (1st generation).
Can I pinch a book closed?
In iBooks 4.0 or later, you can pinch a book closed on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Will the Kindle app or other eBook readers for iPhone work on iPad?
Kindle and most eBook reader apps designed for iPhone or iPod touch should work with iPad. Books downloaded from the Kindle Store and other books that aren't in a DRM-free standard EPUB format aren't compatible with iBooks.
