That's odd.
Try this: Unplug your Time Capsule and your router. On your MBP, click the Wi-Fi icon and select "Open Network Preferences".
Click the lock icon to authenticate, then click the "gear" and select "set service order". Wherever AirPort (or Wi-Fi - I forget what Snow Leopard calls it) appears, drag it elsewhere in the list. Click OK, then Apply, then power up your router and TC.
If that doesn't result in any change, repeat the above but try making the service(s) you do not need "inactive".
The purpose of this is to reset or at least change your Network Preferences, which somehow got confused upon upgrading to SL.

Thanks for your help! : )Well, you almost certainly want to use JDBC for the actual "talk-to-the-database" layer (probably using a "thin" driver). However, programming a large application directly with JDBC can be time-consuming and has a number of subtle pitfalls. In the last few years, many people have started using different sorts of "persistence layer" technology. The main ones I can think of are TopLink, Hibernate, Castor JDO (which is not compliant with the Sun JDO specification), JDO (Sun JDO). The first three are products (one or two of them open-source, I think), and Sun JDO is a specification with a lot of vendors supplying implementations (both commercial and open-source). Also, when the EJB 3.0 specification is finalized, it might be a good choice, and some vendors are supplying "early release" versions of EJB3 (EJB 2.0 is utterly unsuited for a Swing app., supposedly EJB3 will be appropriate there...).
If I were doing such a project, I would use JDO, but it's the technology I'm most familiar with; I like it and I'm biased. If you look into JDO, be aware that:
1) the JDO specifications list a lot of optional features and not every JDO implementation supports all features, although most of them will support everything you would need.
2) The 2.0 specification came out his spring and a lot of implementations don't support it yet. 2.0 has a few nice new features, but 1.0 has everything that 95% of all projects need, so I would consider all working implementations.
One of the nicest things about these intermediate persistence technologies is that they isolate you from the quirks of the particular database you are using. I'm aware of one hobby JDO project with 4 developers; they're developing with 3 different databases among them and expect to deploy on a 4th; there have been almost no "database compatibility issues" that I've heard about...
Another is that these products encapsulate in their functions a lot of "best practices" in regad to JDBC and database implementations, thereby shortening learning times and project times. Most or all of them also let you resort back to direct JDBC if you need to for special cases. -

I do not know the iWire adapter, but I use an inexpensive ($3) DVI to HDMI adapter from Monoprice, along with a regular HDMI cable:

Be aware that this will only transfer video. You Macbook Pro cannot combine audio through DVI to HDMI. You will need to listen to the audio through the Mac speakers, or attach speakers or a sound system to the Mac earphone jack, or determine if your TV has the ability to accept external sound from the Mac while showing video through HDMI (few can). -

after installing Mavericks on my macbookpro 2009 (Japanese keyboards) the layout doesn't work anymore. I mean, if I press the "@" button the "è" symbol comes out. I did already change the layout in the Preferences but it didn't work.
Could anyone help me please?Apple has changed the way Kotoeri keyboard layouts work. You should be able to get normal behavior if you activate the US layout and switch to that just before using Kotoeri. Here is also an Apple note on the topic with another suggestion:

AOL (like other Mail providers) occasionally has server problems (I use AOL mail and it happens to me once in awhile).
However, if it does not clear up after a bit, open Mail. Click on Window>connection doctor. There should be indications of what is wrong.

I'm having problems with my itunes syncing with my devices. I tried it with my old iphone 4 and now my iphone 5S.
When I plug the phone in, the computer recognises it as it starts to charge, but it doesn't get picked up by itunes.
I've tried repairing my itunes account, and deleting and reinstalling it.
Can anyone help?

Yes, you're right. It is the Seagate Momentus XT and it does not spin. That was just a layman's term for computer illiterate like myself. After hours of inspection & a prayer, I discovered by pulling the 4 GB memory chips out I put in, replacing the 1.5 GB back in for the memory which I upgraded 3 years ago. Chime! It works! So it is the 4 GB memory causing the problem. But why? Does that mean my Macbook Pro does not support with more memory? The fan noise is now gone which I suspect it was caused the other overheating Seagate hard drive & eventually causing the crash. However, the top bar temp indicator shows 174˙F @ 000rpm. Does that also mean the fan on the left is not working? (the right fan on the board works). Do they work simutaneously? Or left fan is just a back up?

Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)

Photostream when enabled will only add photos from the camera roll that were taken post photostream activation. (Photostream does not currently share video)
Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.

Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream. -

I can sync icloud calender with pc based outlook calender. Photos also sync. But can not sync contacts. Already checked contact boxes in icloud and and on my PC. Also tried to reset Document & Data on icloud. Could anyone help me on that?
That's what I did... switching on iCloud calender in the panel leads to the following: The existing local Outlook calendar gets mved to an new iCloud calendar.Thus the local calendar is empty.
Given that iTunes dows not allow my whife's phone to be synced with that iCloud calendar (only the local acalendar appears in the list of available calendars in iTunes; syncing all dioes not include the iCloud one) this leads to an empty alendar on my whife's phone.
Hence the question how to
a) get iTunes to include the iCloud calendar to sync with the iPhone 2g (preferred) or
b) enable a local MS Outlook internal sync between the two calendars. -
