I am a new mac user and have a 15 macbook pro (non retina display). I am having an issue with safari "freezing" ...it will work fine for a while and then I will open a new tab and attempt a website that won't load and after that it seems no website will.
So yes like mentioned above...i am a new mac user...have only had it about four days and have had a windows based system always before this. The issue I am having is that I will be in safari and it will work perfect for a while and then i will open a new tab and attempt another website and it will either be extremely slow or will give the error that it cannot connect to the server, however, when i run diagnostics my internet is fine. The only solution i have found is to reboot and geeksquad has been unable to replicate the problem while connected to my computer to try to do so. Does anyone have any suggestions or anyone else with this problem? If you have a "fix" please try layman's terms because again I have no idea about macs haha. Thanks,

How can I make my first generation AirPort Express work with Mountain Lion? I have a 13" MacBook Pro (non-retina).
Hi guys, recently had the same issue. You require an older version of Airport Utility to configure the older Airport Express. It can be found here.

can i turn off my mbp every day??
can i use it plugged even if shows 100%
Yes you can shutdown as many times per day as you like
Yes you can use it plugged in even if the battery shows 100%, as per Apple guide on batteries here: http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html
They recommend you use the battery and allow it to drain to below 40% of capacity atleast once a month to in their words 'keep the juices flowing' and for longterm storage where you won't be using the device, they recommend you unplug it and let it drain to about 50% before shutting it down and not using it for a long period of time ie: 6 months
Cheers

Laggy scrolling/animations and tricky touchpad on MacBook Pro w/Retina Display
As much as I loved the form factor and screen on the 15" 2.6ghz MBP w/Retina Display, the laggy scrolling, animations and intermimitently non-functional tap-to-click made me return it to Best Buy. A $3000 computer (after tax) shouldn't have problems that my Early 2011 MBP doesn't have. I thought the 10.8.2 update might fix this, but unfortunately it has not, even after a clean wipe.
Side note - 10.8.2 also made my 2011 MBP's battery literally drop by 1% a minute when on battery power. It's also ridiculously hotter. Unusable as a portable device.
Another side note - Best Buy really dillutes/degrades Apples great brand. The Apple Specialist in my local Best Buy in Dublin, CA is quite cranky and condescending. That will be the last time I buy an Apple product from Best Buy.Wrong forum? This is Digital Editions forum. Try http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop_elements

i have to get a new computer i want to get a macbook pro non retina but i use my computer alot with school i have lots of files and picture but what should i get 4gb or 8gb
You need storage space for your files. You need RAM in order to run programs. They are not the same.
1. Get 8 GBs of RAM.
2. Get a large hard drive or SSD to store your files. The bigger, the better. -
hi guys,
i'm a windows user and i really like to switch to mac. i really want to buy macbook pro (non-retina) the latest version because of it's cool features. considering now is already december 2014 should i buy it ? or buy other mac or laptop ? i'm still in high school and only use laptop for doing task, watch movies, hear music, games and some other basic stuffs. can you guys help me choose ? thanks ! appreciate for the reply.Watch the Apple Online Store’s refurb section for non-Retina 2012 models. The 2.9 GHz model is a very nice machine and there were some available within the past week. Check daily, because they go fast. I bought one last summer and I love it, but I am not playing games on it. B&H Photo still has some 2012 models, also.

I don't like the 'non-retina' MacBooks, why downgrade when for £100-£200 more you can get a retina Mac which looks and feels 100x better.
It's hardly a downgrade to those of us who care about being able to upgrade our Macs ourselves if and when we need or want to do so. For me, having a FW800 port is also a consideration. -
My iTunes remote app on my ipad mini will work fine for a while and then it will lose the library. I then have to turn off sharing on the computer and then turn it back on. This will work for a while and then I will have to repeat the process. Help!
I have just found the problem to be windows firewall on my library PC
I can only presume there has been an update to windows firewall or iTunes
all the relevant programs were on the allowed list
I'm now currently running with firewall turned off on my library PC.
I'll update when i have found the rogue setting. -
Got new ATV and all set up. It keeps loosing connection with iTunes on laptop and have tried everything suggested in set up guide. It works fine for a while then the iTunes account vanishes from 'computer' menu TV screen. Full Wifi signal on both devices so can't think what could be causing it to happen. Any suggestions please?
Sorry, I updated another thread I was a part of but didn't update my own thread.....ughhh!
I updated all of my ATV 2's and 3's to the latest firmware when it was released and have been problem free since. I do believe the major issue of not being able to connect after a period of inactivity has been corrected with the latest ATV firmware.
I can look at my network connection table using "netstat -an" in a CMD window and I do not see the massive number of connections I saw before the update.
Here is a link to the other thread I was referring to above:

Have you applied the latest firmware updates to your ATV 3's? -
i have a macbook pro 15" retina Display with 2.6 ghz and 8gb of ram when i try to download an HD movie from itunes it says my computer doesn't support HD? i went to the support on the apple website and looked at the specs that a computer has to meet in order to play HD movies and mine is well above them. Why can't i play the movies?
That would at least partially explain it.
These MacBook Pros drew more power than the power brick could readily supply, and so would only run at top speed when the power brick was supplemented by the battery.
Though the applicable tech note has been removed, it stated:
"If the battery is removed from a MacBook or MacBook Pro, the computer will automatically reduce the processor speed. This prevents the computer from shutting down if it demands more power than the A/C adapter alone can provide." -
I have a macbook pro non retina, and I wanna know, there is any problem if I take my computer turned on into my backpack actually is not a ssd disk thanks
it's fine if you leave it on.......i keep mine turned on while travelling with my macbook in my laptop bag and have had no issues.
if however, you plan on running around or jogging - it's better to turn it off.
but leaving it on will not hurt it. -
I'm having problems with 8.1 and Continuity / Handoff. It will work fine for web pages, etc. but in email when I try to do it between by iPhone 5s running 8.1 and my Macbook Pro running Yosemite I consistently get an error. "Failed to Continue Activity" Cocoa Error 4609. Handoff is working for phone calls and text messages. By email just crashes each time. It was also doing it under 8.0.2. My iPhone and iPad handle this fine. It's only the MacBook to the iPhone that fails, and only on email.

HT1270 does installing aftermarket RAM into new macbook pro non-retina void apple warranty
does installing aftermarket RAM into new macbook pro non-retina void apple warranty
Only for the RAM which should be covered by the manufacturers/vendors warranty. Now if you damage the MBP while installing the RAM then you may find yourself voiding the MBP warranty. But ir does take a lot to do that.
