I am considering purchasing an iPad, but my calendar is in Windows "outlook"  will I be able to transfer this info over to the iPad

Is it possible to transfer my contacts and calendar which is presently in windows outlook on a desktop to an iPad?  If yes, how?

very easily. When you plug your iPad into your computer and open iTunes, you'll see an 'info' tab. In it you can select which parts of outlook, contacts, etc you want sync'd. I do it all the time.
The only limit is if you have an older version of outlook, so I'd research the specs  (I wanna say office 2007 adn 2010 work fine, but I'm not sure if 2003 also works or if 2007 is where it stops)

My eyes just glazed over...Please in the future break down each of your issues with paragraphs separated by two carriage returns. It would be much easier when trying to address your issues.
Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Mouse
And edit your mouse settings to do what you want it to do.
Secondly, this is not the place to vent. If you have a complaint, there is:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
    or http://www.apple.com/contact/
We are just end users here helping other end users.
Third, from my understanding, it would appear you are concerned about the noise the hard drive makes when it falls asleep? Why not put your machine in screen saver mode instead? Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Energy Saver turn off all Energy Saver settings, or set them to run Never.
Fourth, if your machine was purchased just a few days ago, you may still be able to get an exchange from the store, quicker than you can get a repair done. You may want to look into that possibility.
Fifth, it does appear you found the Logic forum. I would persist in asking there how to solve your technical issue with Logic regarding the audio. It may be you don't have to do anything special to the hard drive. Remember audio can be transmitted by wire, avoiding ambient sounds.
    Good luck!

  • I am considering purchasing an iPad, and I was wondering if it works with Xbox

I am considering purchasing an iPad, and I was wondering if it works with XBox.

Well its kind of a broad statement "Work with Xbox"
As I said the Xbox Glass App has many features for the Xbox including using it as a remote control which would be an interesting use in my opinion.
And juding by this the Smart Glass is pretty much the same for al the platforms it can run on
    http://www.xbox.com/en-US/smartglass
So i'd guess the interaction would be the same on an iPad as it would on a Surface..

  • I want to buy an iPad for my children for Christmas. Will they be able to play games and get on the Internet with this? Also, will they automatically be able to get on the Internet or will I have to purchase some kind of package?

I want to buy an iPad for my children for Christmas. Will they be able to play games and get on the Internet with this? Also, will they automatically be able to get on the Internet or will I have to purchase some kind of package?

Yes, they can play games - there are hundreds if not thousands of games available in the iTunes Store. Beware of the "free" games; many are free for the base game but charge for things like additional levels, "coins" etc. and those paid add-ons can add up quickly, to dozens or even in some cases hundreds of dollars. I'd strongly suggest you set up restrictions on the iPad to prevent your children from making unauthorized purchases. See:
    http://ipod.about.com/od/iphonehowtos/ht/Using-Iphone-Content-Restrictions.htm
You will need an Internet provider of some sort; Apple is not a provider and so the iPad does not include a data service. You can either use a home Internet connection with a WiFi access point (aka "router") or you can get an iPad with WiFi+Cellular and sign up for a data plan with a cell carrier. WiFi through a home Internet service will probably be cheaper.
    Regards.

Actually it depends on the Bandwidth of the network they will be using. You can see a list of tech specs on the iPad website.

  • I want to use icloud but i have a lot of music on itunes that has been downloaded from elsewhere on the internet. Will i be able to access this on icloud if it has not be bought through itunes?

I want to use icloud but i have a lot of music on itunes that has been downloaded from elsewhere on the internet. Will i be able to access this on icloud if it has not be bought through itunes?

Not on iCloud itself - what you need is 'iTunes Match' which seeks to find versions in the Store of songs you already have, and failing that allows you to upload your own copies. This will cost you $24.99 per year; it does not count towards your 5GB free iCloud space. Limit 25,000 songs (purchased songs do not count towards this limit). You will need iTunes 10.5.1 or later on your Mac or PC and iOS 5.0.1 or later on your iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), or iPad.
    Please see this page: http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/
Also note that some people have found that when using this facility with songs which contain strong language, iTunes Match is substituting a cleaned-up version.

  • Will I be able to transfer my downloaded Nook books to the ipad?

I am considering purchasing an ipad 2 (can't really see the need to get the biggest and baddest...lol). I presently have a Nook Tablet with about 220 books downloaded to it. Will I be able to transfer these books to the ipad or am I basically starting over? With the ipad, are the books in the library free or will I be buying books all over again? Also, what about game apps? Free? Purchase? Im new at this, so please bear with me! Thanks!

Im not the most technical savvy individual. Is this something I can easily do, with the Nook app and then redownloading the books? I know that Nook is epub format. What is the iBooks? And thanks, guys! I will probably have more questions as I go along. Hope you don't mind!
Simply download and install the free NOOK app onto your iPad. When you open the app, you just hit the "sync" symbol (after signing into you B&N account, I think....I can't remember and I just did it yesterday ) and all of your purchased Barnes and Noble books will be show up in the app with a "download" bar across the book cover. Tap to download. I just did this yesterday when my new iPad arrived and it was a piece of cake. The display when I opened a book was amazing.............and I own the N1E, the NST, and the NC!

  • I recently purchased a new PC. I had backed-up my old computer on Carbonite, so I was able to transfer my iTunes library to the new computer when I downloaded my info from Carbonite. Is there a way to restore my playlists?

I recently purchased a new PC. I had backed-up my old computer on Carbonite, so I was able to transfer my iTunes library to the new computer when I downloaded my info from Carbonite, but the playlists are gone. Is there a way to restore my playlists?
Most of my playlists are on my iPod. If I use my iPod to transfer, will the songs double in my library? Also, how do I do this?
Thank you for any & all info you can provide!
    Julie

If you had backed up and restored your library properly you should have ended up with the playlists too. Did you import the media folder from the backup drive into a new library rather than restoring the entire iTunes folder?

  • Want to upgrade from snow leopard to lion, need to purchase an external harddrive to b/u my stuff.  will formating for snow leopard be ok when uploading to the new system (lion)?

oh sorry, I thought that was where we put the question   I am on an extremely tight budget, but since I do shift work, I wanted to use the iCloud funciton to keep my calendars uptodate on my pc/mac mini/and iphone. Wish there were a way to do it for free on my snow and snow leopard OS, but sinc e I cannot, I am wondering about formatting the external harddrive (which I have to purchase). If I format for the snow leopard, will there be a problem re installing the information into the new snow leopard OS machine?  Also, I am wondering about the older Mac Pro I have that is the OS before snow leopard (Snow, I believe) will I be able to use this same HD for backing it up to upgrade it (at a later date)?
    Thank you for your help.
    Deb

so sorry, I mean uploading information from the back up (ex HD) onto the new Snow Lion OS.  (and later doing the same with the Mac Pro which is the system before snow leopard.)  TY

  • Recently I download as app from the CDC that was listed as free, but I had to obtain it by entering a payment method.  Is this normal or was the CDC incorrect by saying it was free?

There's a way to make an apple ID without a credit card. But if you already have one...well, you already have one. Starting over from scratch would probably be more trouble than it's worth.
The logic flow seems to be the presumption that 'everyone' will eventually purchase something, so just start the account with a payment method, even if that payment method sits there unused for months/years.
