I am creating parameters in Discovere plus

Dear ,
I have created parameters in Discoverer Plus and follow these steps.
•     Enter Category in the "What do you want to name this parameter?" field.
•     Select Prod_Category from the "Which item do you want to base this parameter on?" drop-down list.
•     Select the Create condition with operator check box and select IN from the drop-down list.
•     Enter Select a Category in the "What prompt do you want to show for this parameter?"' field.
•     Select the Require users to enter a value and Enable users to select multiple values check boxes.
THESE OPTIONS ARE DISABLE on parameters vizard
1. What default value do you want to give this parameters.
2. Do you want to list of the value for this parameters.
i am unable to create lov in parameters . please guide me.

Hi,
The list of values is not created within the plus
the list of values (called item classes) are created in the Admin
Please refer to the discoverer administrator guide

  • Creating Total for Discoverer Plus 10 Cross Tab

    Hi Everyone,
Any known issue in creating total for Discoverer Plus 10g CrossTab?
My Total did not display any value when the there is more than 1 data to be summed.
Anyone encountered this kind of problem before?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks
    Regards,
    Angeline

If attempting to calculate sum as total, try cell sum... If datapoints are a mix of detail and aggregates, try neutral aggregate for detail or better still seperate aggregate from group by items (e.g. in a cross tab worksheet, keep dimensions on the left hand side or page item and only aggregable facts in the datapoint area). Hope this helps.

  • Create Parameters in a worksheet in Discoverer PLUS OLAP

Am i missing something here or is there a way to create parameters in Discoverer Plus OLAP (not Plus relational) . I have searched all the options in the menu, but no luck.
I know i can pass values from OLAP PLUS to Relational as parameters to the relational worksheet. That is not what i want to do.
I want to create parameters in a worksheet created using BI Discoverer PLUS OLAP.

You are right - you cannot yet create parameters on olap reports in Discoverer. This is a feature planned for a future release.
    Thanks

  • How to create optional parameters in discoverer 10.1.2

I am new to discoverer, Can any one tell me how to create optional parameters in Discoverer desktop edition in 10.1.2
I looked at the following thread which says optional parameters can be created in 10.1.2 but doesn't tell how tro create it
How to create optional parameters in Discoverer
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi.
In the thread you quoted Michael Armstrong-Smith says that optional parameters can be created in Plus but not in Desktop and that's true.
So your question "how to create optional parameters in Discoverer desktop" is already answered in that thread.
Assume that it is a typo and you wanted to ask how to create optional parameters in Plus.
Then the answer is simple: Just uncheck the "Require users to enter a value" checkbox when creating new parameter.

  • Discoverer Plus - Creating URL's with Multiple Dimension values

We are using the "Manage Links" feature in Discoverer Plus (10.1.2.2.0) to send dimension value names in a URL. As part of the "Manage Links" feature, the user is given the opportunity to choose which dimension values for the selected cells they want to include in the URL.
We are attempting to create URL's to drill from Discoverer Plus to more detailed Oracle Reports, which will use the dimension values in sql statements . One problem we noticed is for each dimension we can not select multiple values to send in the URL.
    For example;
I have a URL I want to append selected dimension values from Discoverer Plus.
We have 2 dimensions each containing 5 dimension values. We use Discoverer Plus to filter down to 2 dimension values for each dimension to be included in our url.
    Time: Nov2007, Dec2007
    Division: USCCSLT, USCCLSY
    Measure: Flux
    URL:
    https://corpdev.ffmb.com:11228/reports/rwservlet?RPT_TEST_XLS=<TIME:VALUE>, <DIV:VALUE>
When the link executed, the EXIT URL only contains the first dimension value for each dimension. I have included the exit URL below:
    Result:
    https://corpdev.ffmb.com:11228/reports/rwservlet?RPT_TEST_XLS=Nov2007,USCCSLT
It should contain Nov2007, Dec2007, USCCSLT, USCCLSY.
I've tried a variety to things in the Manage Links, but it always sends out just one dimension value.
According to the choices given in "Manage Links", it is not supposed to work this way.
I have a feeling I'm doing something wrong, because I don't see many posts here related to creating Discoverer Plus URL's.
If anyone encountered this and came up with a solution, I'd be interested to read your comments.
    Thanks,
    Michael

What version of Discoverer are you running? I'm assuming 10.1.2 but I would look at the 2 URL parameters
    pluspopup and framedisplaystyle
    From the Oracle Documentation:
When using popup in conjunction with framedisplaystyle=, the possible combinations are:
pluspopup=true and framedisplaystyle=embedded launches Discoverer Plus in a new pop-up browser window that contains the Plus applet embedded in it.
pluspopup=true and framedisplaystyle=separate opens a new pop-up browser window and launches Discoverer Plus in a new applet window.
This combination launches three windows: the original browser window (i.e. Discoverer Connections page), the new browser window containing the Discoverer image, and the JFrame window containing the Discoverer Plus applet.
pluspopup=false and framedisplaystyle=embedded launches Discoverer Plus in the current browser window.
See if those help you out, if not let me know and we can dig into this further

  • Can't Create Saved Connection in 11g (Discoverer Plus).

We're getting ready to go live with a new installation of Discoverer Weblogic 11g, but we have run into a problem. We are getting errors when we have any user try to create a saved login connection from their login screen. We hit "Create Connection" and enter all the required login info (as we always did with our 10g version), but when we hit 'Apply' or 'Apply and Connect' we get the following errors.......
    A connection error.
    - Oracle BI Discoverer Viewer cannot save the connection. Check for other errors.
    - ORA-04063: package body "PROD_DISCOVERER_PS.WWSSO_API_PRIVATE" has errors ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called: "PROD_DISCOVERER_PS.WWSSO_API_PRIVATE" ORA-06512: at line 1
Users can login just fine when they enter all their info on the login screen, this is only happening when we try to create the saved connection. Is anyone else running into this on 11g? Is there a setting we are missing or something? Maybe something in the pref.txt file? Any help would be appreciated, especially since we are being asked to go live soon. Thanks!
    Here is our system setup:
    Oracle BI Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.4.0)
Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Plus 11g (11.1.1.4.0)
    Discoverer Model - 11.1.1.4.0
    Discoverer Server - 11.1.1.4.0
    End User Layer - 5.1.1.0.0.0
End User Layer Library - 11.1.1.4.0
    Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
Java Virtual Machine:     Sun Microsystems Inc. 1.6.0_29
JVM Memory Available:     9046KB out of 37372KB
Operating System:     x86 Windows XP 5.1
Using protocol: RMI protocol over JRMP transport

    Additional info:
Based on the error messages, we can see something is wrong with the package being called. We had a long running help ticket with Oracle opened, but in our opinion, it was not really resolved. We provided the following info after a request from Oracle....
The package does exist. The package is valid but the package body is invalid due to missing dependant objects
    It is owned by PROD_DISCOVERER_PS.
The database version is 11.2.0.1.0 (64 bit)
    SQL> select OWNER, OBJECT_TYPE
    +2 from all_objects+
    +3 where object_name = 'WWSSO_API_PRIVATE';+
    OWNER OBJECT_TYPE
    PROD_DISCOVERER_PS PACKAGE
    PROD_DISCOVERER_PS PACKAGE BODY
We have tried to recomplie the package, still invalid.
After some further questions we were asked to provide info on the app_registry.......We got an error when trying that.......
The app_registry object does not exist ...
    SQL> connect sys as sysdba
    Enter password:
    Connected.
    SQL> select comp_id,version,status from app_registry;
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
In the end (after a lot of back and forth), Oracle could not reproduce our problem on their test system. Because their test system uses Enterprise Edition and we installed Standard Edition, their solution was that the issue is caused because we are using Standard Oracle DB and we should be using Enterprise Edition. Creating a saved connection doesn't sound at all like something that would be affected by Standard or Enterprise edition. That's not an easy "solution" for us right now, and we can use a real fix. That's like taking your car into the shop because your blinkers don't work on your 2010 model car and the dealer's solution is "Oh, your 2010 car blinkers don't work? We have a 2011 model and they work just fine. You'll need to buy a 2011 car so the turn signals function."

  • To visualize the report created using Discoverer Plus in Web

    Hi,
I had created the report usingOracleBI Discoverer Plus Version 10.1.2.45.46c & able to visualize the report in OracleBI Discoverer Viewer Version 10.1.2.45.46c.
URL fo accessing the report is as:
    http://machinename1:7777/discoverer/viewer
If i try to connect to from another machine (machine2) as
    http://machinename1:7777/discoverer/viewer
i'm unable to connect & i get the error page can not be displayed.
Is it necessary to have the URL only with domain name as
    http://machinename.domainname:portno/discoverer/viewer
I had already installed OWB, Oracle BI etc. If i had to create a domain then i have install all these & need to work from scratch.
Is there any way to access the report across the internet or web.
Plz do provide a solution for this issue.
    Thx in Advance

  • Discoverer Plus - Manage Link option is not working in Viewer

I am working on 10.1.2.3 Discoverer Plus. I have created one workbook with multiple worksheets (1 detail sheet and 4 Left Group Report.
I have created seperate links for 4 worksheets. Drill to Details is working fine in discoverer plus and parameter values passed as per the mapping in managed link option.
However, when I tried to access the report in Viewer, parameter values is not coming as per the mapping.
In detail sheet we have several optional parameters
from One summary Sheet, I am not passing all the values to the parameters in the detailed sheet.
Those column for which, I am not passing any value is coming as NULL (it should come blank as report is treating NULL as string), so no data found

    Thanks Lloyd,
Drill Down is working fine in Viewer and Plus.
Parameter's passed from one sheet to another is also working fine in plus but in viewer I have some problems.
Here are the details of the problem I am facing.
I have 2 Summary Sheets and 1 Detail Sheet
    Sheet 1: 3 Parameters (Summary)
    Sheet 2: 4 Parameters (Summary)
    Sheet 3: 7 Parameters (Details)
When I am clicking on Sheet1 to Drill down 3 parameters are having correct values but the 4 parameters which can't be passed to Sheet 3 is coming 'NULL' (NULL string value) so detail report is not showing any data. Similarly for Sheet 2 4 parameters are coming as expected but 3 are coming as NULL.
When I am defining Manage Link Option, I am doing the mapping for 3 Column for Sheet 1 rest 4 columns are BLANK (no info).
I hope now my problem will be clear.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Discoverer Plus - How to include variable text in the Title

    Hi,
I need to include a variable text in the report like the user information or another information i woul like to obtain from a query that is not the standars date,time,... oracle discoverer plus improves us.
I tried with calculations associates to a parameters, but is not possible.
    I hope i explained correctly.
    Thanks,

This can be done by creating a parameter, then a calculation, then a condition. Then under "Edit Header" or Page Setup, choose "Header" or "Footer"as needed and choose to insert the Parameter.
    Step by step Example instruction:
    1-Create a parameter as follows:
    --Item = NONE
--Name = "Workbook run by" (This will appear in the heading or title when workbook run)
--Prompt = "Please enter UserID in all capital letters"
--Description and Default value left blank
    2-Create a Calculation
--In New Calculation choose "Function" then choose the function "USER" from Database. (This is all that the calculation will need.)
    --Name Calculation  = i.e.: "DB_USERID"
    3-Create a condition as follows:
    --Name = Request_UserID
    --Item = DB_USERID
    Condition = IN
Value = Choose parameter: Workbook run by
-Double click on worksheet title, choose Insert, then choose Parameter (This can be done the same way under Page Setup for Header and Footer
-The calculation will create an extra column which I put at the top as a Page Item
-This will force the user to enter the UserID they are logged in to Discoverer with.
-This is case sensative. Therefore, since all Databe IDs are stored on the Database in all-caps, then the user will have to enter in all caps as well.

  • Discoverer Plus - IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0

I have encountered error: IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0 when i'm trying to create a report in Discover Plus that has 3 parameter fields. If i put values in the 3 fields, the report will generate, however, if i put a value into only 1 of those fields and leave the other 2 parameters blank, this error occurs.
    Please help me.

    Hi
Presumably the parameters are mandatory parameter? In this case you need to supply a value to all three. You cannot leave a mandatory parameter blank.
By the way, which version of Discoverer Plus are you using? You can use About | Help to see which version you have.

  • Customizing Oracle Discoverer Plus

    Hi,
Our team is trying to figure out the best way to integrate our custom built Web app with the Oracle Discoverer Plus applet. The only thing that seems to be customisable in Discoverer is the banner image. I’ve read that Discoverer Viewer can be customized a bit more by hacking the IUX files. Unfortunately, our application must work with the applet (Discoverer Plus).
We looked into using the v$sql view to track down the query that Discoverer is using. This approach would be risky since there’s no guarantee that Discoverer's query will still be the shared pool when our application is called.
Since we’ve been unable to integrate our application with Discoverer (i.e., add a new button to the Discoverer applet), we’re using the Discoverer html and xml export. By parsing these two files, we can mirror data as well as the query used to generate the data in our application.
I was wondering if we had overlooked anything (e.g., undocumented api).
    Thanks for your help
    Danny

Are the users truly creating new workbooks each time, or are they just doing different selection values? I use the Parameters feature of Discoverer to let users do their data selection, which handles much of their ad hoc analysis needs. But if the users are truly coming up with new workbooks every time, then yep, they are going to want to use Discoverer Plus. Maybe you need to look at moving beyond Discoverer to OBIEE, or some other data warehouse/business intelligence solution, as a better long term solution for your users? Just something to think about.

  • How to open a defult workbook from Discoverer Plus

    Hi all,
Is it possible in Discoverer Plus for a user to open a pre defined worksheet in a workbook when he logs in without having to select the workbook and then select the worksheet?
Please advise how to achive this.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you all.
    Yjk

    Hi Yjk
This is possible but you will have to alter the URL call to do it and add the workbook name to the end of the URL.
You can use either the names of workbooks and worksheet or unique IDs of workbooks and worksheets. Using unique IDs is easier and helps avoid encoding problems with long names. Unique IDs are language independent. The following are the URL parameters to use while working with workbooks and worksheets.
    Discoverer Plus Relational:
    Workbooks:
    opendbid=<workbook ID>
    opendbname=<workbook name>
    Worksheets:
    sheetid=<worksheet ID>
    sheet=<worksheet name>
    Discoverer Viewer:
    Workbook:
    wbk=<workbook ID>
    wb=<workbook name>
    Worksheet:
    wsk=<worksheet ID>
    ws=<worksheet name>
    Discoverer OLAP:
    Workbooks:
    workbookname=<workbookname>
    Worksheets:
    sheet=<worksheet name>
Note: Discoverer Plus OLAP uses only workbook and worksheet names.
    Examples below:
How to Find the Unique IDs of Workbooks and Worksheets
To find the unique ID of a workbook, use thie workflow:
    1. Launch the Open Workbook from Database wizard
    2. Right-click the workbook name
    3. Select Properties.
The value of the Identifier field indicates the unique ID of the workbook.
Alternatively, when the workbook is open, select File | Workbook Properties.
To find the unique ID of a worksheet, use this workflow:
    1. With the worksheet open, select Edit | Worksheet Properties
    2. The Worksheet Properties dialog box opens.
    3. Click the General tab.
The value of the Identifier field indicates the unique ID of the worksheet.
The following URL starts Discoverer Viewer and opens a worksheet with the unique ID "156", which is present in the workbook whose unique ID is "MONTHLY_SALES". The connection ID used is "cf_a101".
    http://<machine.domain>:<port>/discoverer/viewer?cn=cf_a101&wbk=MONTHLY_SALES&wsk=156
If the connection that is used here is a private connection, the user will be prompted for the password.
In Plus, the same command is:
    http://<machine.domain>:<port>/discoverer/plus?cn=cf_a101&opendbname=MONTHLY_SALES&sheet=156
    Does this help?

  • Discoverer Plus for OLAP

    Hi....
Our company had installed Oracle Application Server 10g and using Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2.48.18) and also creating the EUL as the data storage/mapping for our workbooks/reports.
Our company has a plan to use Discoverer Plus for OLAP and already installed the discoverer catalog.
How to create a connection using option "Connect To" OracleBI Discoverer for OLAP ?
What is the diffrence between Discoverer Catalog and Analytic Workspace?
What tools that we must use to create data for OLAP (to create some dimensions, measures etc)?
    Any Help will be appreciated
    Thanks,
    Handoko

    Hi Handoko,
You can establish a connection from Discoverer Plus for OLAP, by specifying the database connect information in the form of HOST:PORT:SID (e.g MyServer.com:1521:orcl10g).
The Discoverer OLAP catalog is used to store end-user reports and is installed and maintained using Application Server Control console. It allows you to install the catalog and authorize users to store reports in the catalog. The Analytic Workspace Manager is used to define your multi-dimensional model and load the data from source tables.
Mark Rittman provides some indepth documentation, have a look at the link below :
    http://www.rittman.net/2004/11/29/understanding-the-role-of-the-olap-catalog/
    & Oracle’s info:

  • Discoverer Plus associate with the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure

    Hi Everyone,
I just install the Oracle BI (v 10.1.2.0.2) into my 2003 server so I could use the Discoverer Plus and Viewer. This is a stand alone BI installation (I guess, I have little knowledge about Discoverer plus or Oracle AS).
My question is how could I connect the Discoverer plus to my ODS database, so I could create report or view report.
and where to find the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure (or How do I know I have the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure?)
I read the Oracle BI Discoverer Configuration Guide, and it tell me to associate the Oracle BI with the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure to deploy the Discoverer. so I went to the BI Application Server Control page, the Infrastructure section, the Identity Management to configure the Internet Directory, so I could I have the public connection, but it didn't work.
Also do I real need the Oracle AS Infrastructure to make the Discoverer Plus work?
    Thanks in advance
    Kevin C
    Kevin
Edited by: cmingl on Feb 11, 2010 1:30 PM

    Hi Kevin,
Oracle AS Infrastructure is needed only if you are implementing SSO for Discoverer or using Public connection .
Else only Oracle AS Middle tier is sufficient to work with Discoverer Plus .
Regarding "how could I connect the Discoverer plus to my ODS database, so I could create report or view report"
You need to create the End User Layer (EUL) and then grant privilege to the EUL to users who will be creating the report .
    Thanks,
    Sutirtha
