I am in over my head, but I'm trainable
I want to save the xmp file from my Photoshop 7 images as a text file. I downloaded the developers kit, but frankly, I am not a developer. If someone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. I am operating in Macintosh OS-X. I have Photoshop 7, InDesign 2, and Acrobat 5. There are thousands, if not millions, of photographers out here that would like access to this information in a format they can share with others. The EXIF data from the camera is great, but we need to share it outside the apps.
The DumpMainXMP sample application will output the XMP information in a file to text. Unfortunately, it's a command line program, so you need to run it from a Terminal window. I compiled the application with Xcode and installed it in the /usr/bin directory on my machine. After that, I was able to output the XMP data to a file with the following command line:
DumpMainXMP sample.jpg >sample.xmplog
where sample.jpg was the image file containing the XMP information to be extracted. The program outputs to stdout, hence the redirection to the sample.xmplog file. The file is then viewable using the TextEdit application. You may want to do some additional formatting to get the file the way you want it.
So far, I have not figured out how to develop a Cocoa application using the SDK. I'm not all that familiar with Cocoa yet so I'm having trouble linking Objective C objects with the C++ libraries provided.
Hope this helps. I know it's a bit technical, but if you can use Xcode, you should be able to get it to work without actually writing any new code.

hello, I am trying to draw an image (its a little image of a custom sort indicator) over the header of a jTable, but after extensive reading of the api docs about TableCellRenderer and DefaultTableCellRenderer I cannot come to a solution.
What I want is something like this: let the renderer do the paint and after that I grab the graphics and draw the image over it...
please let me know if I need to restate my problemI extended DefaultTableCellRenderer like you say in your article, but while doing so it lost the default Metal L&F. It become like an ordinary cell of the table. Below is the code:

The company that I work for hired a vendor to upgrade our wireless environment. That company purchased the equipment but then charged a rediculous amount of money to set it up. So of course I was given the task. Though this went way over my head I took it on.
I was given a Cisco 1121 ACS server, 2 Cisco 5500 WAC controllers, and 10 1042 LWAPs and was told to do the best I can. I was able put the ACS server and WAC boxes on the network. At that point I figured that there was something else that needed to be done. But as a test I connected a LWAP which i set an SSID and I couldnt connect to it no matter what level of authentication I used, even unsecured. My question is do I need to setup a RADIUS server on the ACS box to authenticate???
I've been reading up on the ACS for a couple days and I know it can be used for device and user management. But I assumed that we were only using it to manage our wireless environment, so it wasn't really 'necessary'. Idealy, we simply want to broadcast our company SSID and have devices connect to it using their network credentials.
i'm not really sure what I need to do next. I have yet to contact Cisco though we do have a support. I just want to make sure all things are in place before I contact them
any help would be GREATLY appreciated

based on your comment above we need to take care of how the ACS will be configure to authenticate users, if you want users to login with their network credentials you really need to configure ACS to work with your company user database (note:there's a whole support team at Cisco for ACS and database set up)

there's a big need to clarify what type of supplicants(end-users), will be found on your wireless network phone,windows,mac..etc) in order to have an idea what type of security design will work the best when things start getting clearer.
note: I understand your company still has the Access points on the box? if that is the case a wireless site survey will be needed to install them properly ( I understand the money concern but many companies go without a survey and it is more cost to have someone to fix the mess later on) a site survey is componed of deep analysis of blueprints of the building, all about site survey's itself (hardware and software tools (spectrum analyzer..etc) and of course the knowledge to deploy the AP properly on their right RF, Channels.. etc (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_site_survey)

You can see the current version in Settings > General > About > Version. If it shows iOS 5+ then you should have a Settings > General > Software Update for direct update on the iPad, if it's iOS 4 then you can only update via your computer's iTunes.
To update via your computer, connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off it to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11). You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes (on iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

I am changing to iCloud on my iMac, MacBook Air and my iPhone. My iMac and MacBook both moved over to iCloud but my iPhone when I go to Settings and click on iCloud it shows my Mail setting turned Off. When I turn it on it wants me to create a new email address to turn on iCloud Mail. I already have to "me" accounts plus another email address and don't want to create another one. I don't understand why it's asking me to do this on my iPhone but didn't ask on my iMac or MacBook and is there a way around creating another @me.com email address?

I called Apple technical support in Denmark, but with no positive reply.
She couldn't do anything, and said that They had sent a recall Email about the problem and with their offer to repair the Macbook Pro, but I'd never recieved an Email about the problem. She wasn't in power to make an exception. It can't be true that i paid a lot of money, for a product that can't barely stand on its own feets, Apple didn't tell me that the product I was about to buy, would restart every 5 minute. and now when they know the problem, they wont repair it? it just don't make sense for me. If a car seller discovers that all the brakes in a car he had sold, will crash after some years he will call all the cars back to repair no mater what. i just don't understand how Apple will make good service for their custumers, by extending the warranty from 2 to 3 years, but wont take the computers there is a little bit to old, 4 months will make the difference. i can't believe it.
What can i do now?

I bought a new iMac. iWeb and all its folders migrated over, no problem, but I cannot bring up my website - it only seems to allow for creating a new site.
You need the 'Domain' file in which iWeb keeps its data. This lives by default in (user)/Library/Application Support/iWeb. You need to locate it on the old machine and copy it to the same position in the new machine. Note that it is the Library folder in your Home folder, not the one at root level.
This folder is hidden on Lion and above; to access it, in the Finder go to the ‘Go’ menu and hold down the Option (Alt) key; the Library folder will appear as a choice. In Mavericks you can make it permanently visible - open your Home Folder the from the Finder's View menu, choose show View Options and check Show User Library. -

Just ran a clean print head again, print out looks good now but the status of the new cyan/magenta shows yellow monitor status. Is it time to buy another..When I purchased this printer it had to be replaced 3 times because of problems... Just a lemon?

Apparently, something went way wrong SOMEWHERE, SOMEHOW... and now I'm afraid of losing ALL MY MEDIA considering I have NO ITUNES ON MY LAPTOP! I followed all appropriate steps found in trouble shooting, when I reinstalled iTunes though, the reinstalled music on my pc was a handful of songs that were triplicates, even listed some five TIMES! And maybe a total of 20-25 different songs, a fraction of what I had initially!

2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad -
