  • Text/SMS to mobiles sending but not being received

    Hi,
I've upgraded to Skype 7.1 and Mac X Yosemite and can effectively no longer send SMS i.e. I usually send texts/SMS to a distribution list of about 25 mobile numbers and while the history says "sent" and the credit is taken from our account, no-one is receiving the texts.
    How do I fix this?
    Thanks

you dont know that it has nothing to do with his iPhone thats not guaranteed he could have some glitch causing it..
Actually, I do. Delayed SMS/MMS delivery is an all too common problem occurring with all carriers, independent of the phone. It's caused by carrier traffic and local signal conditions at both ends.
The only way the phone could cause it is if it froze and locked up when attempting to send, then mysteriously unfroze hours later, completing the send command. This would have been obvious to the user.

  • I cannot send or receive SMS text messages and my number is not showing up in the 'Recieve At' location..how do I fix this?

I just bought and activated a new Iphone 4s and I cannot send or receive normal SMS text messages. Also, my number is not showing up in the "receive at" location. Any help??

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Beyond that... since you state you've tried all "recommended fixes" have you actually restored as new and not from your backup?

  • Not receiving texts via iMessages or SMS

I can't send iMessages (they try to get sent and then go through as SMS) nor can I receive any texts at all when contacts reply.  I've tried turning iMessages on and off and resetting Network setting and turning off the phone and various combinations of that.  I also did a full restore and recovery and that did not help either.  I can receive iMessages via my mac but not on the phone.  Other than that every once in a while a text makes it to the phone but overall every other text doesn't make it.  I even tried just turning iMessages off and seeing if I can receive SMS but no luck.  Tried turning my phone off for several minutes and making a phone call after to see if it was my phone dropping off the network and no joy. Still no texts after.  Wifi and a strong 3G connection dont seem to change anything either.  Will appreciate any other troubleshooting tips.

Thank you! I appreciate the insight. May I assume you're running the lastest version of software on the device? In addition, under the Messages section what is listed under the "Send and Receive" section? Does your phone number appear.
I understand that you've done a restore on the device. Did all the text messages threads that have been sent recently reappear? If so, I would suggest clearing the threads and re-attempting the reset of the network settings.

  • Can receive sms texts but not read them

    Hi!
my blackberry curve is currently receiving sms text messages, but they only show up as an icon at the top of the main menu, i can't actually see them or even open them. i do not have this problem with mms or email. i also can't see texts when i go to the specific 'sms' inbox. i know i'm receiving them because friends have asked why i haven't responded. but it's like they're lost to some black hole in my phone.
    things i've tried:
i've tried rebooting the phone, at which point i've gotten the "uncaught exception: java.lang.ClassCastException" error.
also, my phone is saying "attempting to open a secure server connection but the server's certificate is not trusted." sometimes i can just click close connection and get through to the phone but other times i can't.
i've tried rebooting the phone (taking the battery out), changing my themes settings to default (and using a default blackberry theme) and deleting all messages from my phone.
nothing seems to be working -- what can I do to read text messages again??

    Hey mmgiiirl,
Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
This may be an issue with your SMS database. Try clearing your SMS database then test with new messages:

  • Weird! Not receiving SMS (Texts) but have reception and 3G

    Hi all,
Haven't had a problem with my iphone 4 until i believe I upgraded to the 4.1 and changed the case.
Basically when I am at home and only appears to be at home and round the area I live I do not receive texts. The phone is showing 2 and 3 bars of reception, I can make calls, send text, send emails but for some reason not receiving texts. However when i make a phone call or receive one all of a sudden I get an influx of text messages come through.
I have reset the NETWORK SETTINGS
I have reset the ALL SETTINGS
I have restored the iphone through itunes
Can any one help to solve this problem?
    Cheers

In my opinion, this is probably just a reception issue at your home. If SMS works everywhere else but your home, I think the handset is fine. Do you live in a concrete bunker or steel building?
SMS uses the carrier or signalling channel and not necessarily the voice or data streams. It's the signalling channel that tells the phone that you have an incoming call or are making a phone call. So, theoretically, if you can make or receive a call, you should also be able to make/receive SMSs.
Please let us know what happens.

  • Not receiving international text / sms on iPhone 3G

    Hello,
I have just moved from Australia to the USA. I brought with me an unlocked iPhone (originally through Telstra in Australia) and it now runs on AT&T. I have no issues with voice, voice mail, data and local SMS / text.
But, I can't receive international SMS / text.
I can send texts to Australia and they are received. However, when people in Australia reply to them they never get through.
I have a Palm Centro on AT&T here and it receives texts fine from Australia. The iPhone sitting next to it doesn't. It is infuriating.
I have spoken with AT&T and they believe everything should work.
I have other friends on AT&T with iPhone and they are able to receive international SMS.
Is it the iPhone's problem? Is it AT&T? Is it the carrier in Australia (Telstra)?
    HELP!!!
    Thanks,
    Andrew Woodward

OK, after many hours of wading through this....
I was able to receive from two different carriers in Australia tonight.
Here's what I think the issue was.
When you sign up as a new customer, international SMS isn't automatically included.
But on the AT&T iPhone customer account page on the web, you can't add international SMS.
It is only when you ring them and tell them you want it, they can adjust their system there.
There may have also been some back end technical issues.
    Anyway, problem solved.

  • Not receiving texts from iPhone contacts when I'm not connected to wifi or cell data. I can't send and receive regular SMS texts with non iMessage users but iMessage users message are not being converted to text when I don't have internet connect

I can send and receive to any non iPhone user. I can send a message as a text to an iPhone user but if I'm not connected to cellular data or wifi I do not receive messages from iPhone contacts. From what I understand these message should automatically send to me as texts instead of iMessages but since the update it's not functioning properly. Please help. I've tried turning iMessage off and I still don't receive the messages until after I reconnect to wifi.

I have the same problem! Before the upgrade, if I wasn't connected to the internet, any messages sent to me from an iphone would convert automatically to a text message. I have payg tarriff, so I turn cell data off, as it costs too much to use it. I have wifi at home and work, but if I'm out and about, I don't receive texts from iphone users until I'm on wifi. I get them ok from non iphone users. There was never any problem until ios7

  • Not Receiving Text (SMS) Messages (On Rogers Network)

I have recently been experiencing trouble with my iPhone 4s. I would send text messages, however, the recipient would receive them, text me back and I would not get their texts back. After a few days or so, I would receive all the texts I did not receive in bulks. This has happened a few times already. My friends/family members who own a Blackberry have been receiving a notification that there is network congestion. (However, iPhone or Android users do not receive the same notification). No one I know is experiencing the same problem as I am.
I am on the Rogers network, texting phones (Blackberrys, iPhones, Androids) on the Fido, Rogers, Telus and Bell networks.
Is this a network problem or a phone problem?

I am having the exact problem - also a Rogers Customer with an iPhone 4S.   The rest of my family have Blackberrys (on Rogers, and Koodo).    When they text or BBM each other they each receive each others messages immediately.    When I try to text them, most times they receive the text after a delay which can be several minutes or up to a few hours.   Oddly, when they respond to the text, I receive the response immediately.
I believe this to be a hardware related issue, and am trying to isolate when it happens.    BTW - I get a similar problem with email - where it will not send and eventually goes to the outbox.    I have to resend and sometimes have to disconnect from the network (by turning on Airplane Mode) then re-connect before the emails get sent.
BTW, I am not running IOS 6 yet because I do not want to lose Google maps.   Running - 5.1.1

  • IPhone 6 not sending or receiving SMS Texts

I activated my iPhone6 8 days ago.  Since activation I cannot send or receive SMS messages.  I can only iMessage with other iPhone users...so in a nutshell, I can't text with anyone who doesn't have an iPhone.  I'm up to date on iOS 8.2, I've deleted the contacts, re-added them, turned off iMessage and deleted the prior conversations.  Please help.
    Thank you,
    M

Contact your carrier to have them check your account. SMS and MMS are a carrier function. It is possible there was a problem in the setup of your account with your new device. There are no settings on the iPhone dealing with SMS. The carrier has to handle that.

  • SMS Texts "Send" but Not Received

    iPhone 5
    16GB
    iOS 8.1.3
I will text my friends who have Samsung Galaxy S3's and most of my messages will deliver, but at random times they won't receive my text.  We will be having a conversation  throughout the day, but then all of a sudden my text will "get lost."  It shows it sent on my phone, but the message won't appear on their phone. It only happens to those who have Samsung Galaxy S3's.  I know there has been a problem with people switching from iPhone to Android, but they have always had an Android.  My text will get lost maybe once or twice a week, but it's just frustrating.  I've done a factory reset, talked to my carrier about network issues, and went to the Apple store.  Nothing seems to resolve the problem.  I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem similar to mine.

If you're not getting an error, the problem is one their end, either with their phone or their carrier.
The S3 is a pretty old phone at this point. Perhaps they need to check to see if there is a software update available.

  • Not receiving SMS texts on Blackberry Tour anymore

I can send and people get my texts, but now cannot receive them unless I use the Crunch SMS program. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I've seen this asked before. The CrunchSMS application sets a permission on your device and if you aren't using that application it needs to be changed. You need to contact the developer to determine what permission should be fixed.

  • Contacts not receiving text/sms from VZW iPhone 5

So, I switched from Att and everything is working great except for a few sms not getting through.  My Friend is on the Viaero networka nd has a SG3.  Sometimes they  get them and most of the time they dont.  Ive called VZW and they blame att  and the imessage..  Ive turned imessage on and off and it still doesn't work.  Anyone else havign this issue or know of a fix?
    thanks

iMessage has nothing to do with SMS. SMS is exchanged over the carrier's cellular network only - the same network as calls. "Dumb"phones or phones not in the smart phone category that don't have internet access via the carrier's cellular data or internet network can exchange SMS.
If an SMS is successfully sent, what happens to the message after that has nothing to do with the cell phone that sent the message.
Are the problem SMS not successfuly sent, or is there an red indicator on the message indicating it was not sent?
