  • Insert an iPhoto SlideShow into iDVD

I do not succeed in inserting a SlideShow from iPhoto into iDVD including audio and slide effects. Only pictures will be inserted. Even exporting the slideshow from iPhoto into a QuickTime movie is losing the audio and slide effects. Can anyone give some advice what's going wrong?

You cannot import an iPhoto Slideshow into iDVD and keep the audio and transition effects from iPhoto.
    See this: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8828619&#8828619
You need to create the slideshow directly in iDVD, and add the audio and transitions from withing iDVD.
Your transitions must be the same between the photos.
It is reported here that you can do this with Quick Time: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10356386&#10356386

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements running on?
Have you gone through the typical drills of
    1. Latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements?
    2. Running program from User Account with Administrative Privileges as well as from Run As Administrator applied to the desktop icon
with right click of the icon, followed by selecting Run As Administrator?
    3. Does problem exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
    4. Even though the Premiere Elements 12 Editor will not open, can you open the Elements Organizer 12?
If Yes to all of the above, please review the following for a possible solution...
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE12: Premiere Elements 12 Editor Will Not Open
Please review and consider the above and then we can decide what next which might include trying to open
the program directly from the .exe files.  (If Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit, Local Disk C\Program Files\Adobe\
Adobe Premiere Elements 12\ and in the Adobe Premiere Elements 12 Folder are the Adobe Premiere Elements 12.exe
and Adobe Premiere Elements.exe files. Double click the Adobe Premiere Elements .exe file to try to open the project.)
We will watching for your results.

Sounds like the device was dropped at some point and damaged as a result.
Take it to Apple for evaluation and a replacement.

  • IDVD 8.0 chapters work in preview but fail on DVD burn

    Hi All-
I have been looking around and it seems like I am up against a software bug in iDVD 8.0, but I wanted to be sure.
I have a project with a movie that I imported from iMovie via media browser to iDVD 8.0
I made chapters in iDVD 8.0 using the 5 minute spacing.
I finished the project (lots more, slide shows etc etc)
I preview the project in iDVD using the play button
-Everything works perfectly, chapters link to appropriate video
I burn the disc either directly, or image it and then burn with disc utility
-The DVD works except for the chapters.
If I select the "beginning" chapter from my chapters submenu the Video starts correctly.
If I try to select chapter 2-12 nothing happens. It is as if the links are disabled.
I tried it again in the iDVD application preview and it works perfectly. I tried the disc in three different computers and it always fails.
This is very annoying, I almost cannot believe that such a simple obvious bug would be left in a distributed piece of software. But... thats apparently what everyone is saying. So... is it true or am I doing something stupid.
Finally, the solution (work around for a bug fix apple is not making), can I indeed place chapter markers in garage band and then export the movie to media browser and reimport it into iDVD and will the existing chapters update to reflect the correct placement? If this works, its great with me because I can make meaningful chapter markers, to be honest this every 5 minute stuff is useless but is marginally better than fast forward.
Thanks for any response. I know I have suggested an answer to my own question, but I was rather hoping that by doing this someone could tell me another way, and correct whatever it is I am doing wrong. If garage band or Imovie HD 6 is the only way, perhaps someone could post or link to a discussion on the details of how to do that stuff.

There have been several posts on this forum regarding scene selection issues / buttons that don't always link properly to their respective / appropriate chapters or scenes. Menu navigation can be problematic within iDvd'08. This is much less of an issue within Roxio Toast and DVDSP (apple's top end dvd authoring software part of FCS2).
You may want to use the iDvd feedback web form located within iDvd once the app is launched .... simply go to the menu and scroll down to provide iDvd Feedback. Apple WILL take note of requests for added features and / or an update request to resolve a specific issue. It won't happen instantly, but it will get apple's attention.
In the meantime, here's what I'd recommend that does work for me .... iM6=>iDvd'08:
Download iMovie 6 free from apple provided you already have iLife'08:

  • I am wonder why when i add a picture with words to my slideshow in final cut the res clarity seems to get blurry when the poem I am making is playing the picture seems to become blurry but when i stop it the res quality seems to get better

i add a picture from the web to the final cut project and as my poem is playing some pictures are getting blurry when it plays but when i pause it the picture seems to be more clear

Possibly it's just a matter of switching Quality  to Better Quality in Viewer Display Options. Or rendering the clip.

  • IPhoto Slideshows in iDVD?

Does anyone know if this is possible to import an iPhoto Slideshow into iDVD?

Yes you can do this 2 ways (that I know of)
    1) Open iPhoto
    2) Select the slideshow in the Source Pane
3a) From the File menu select Export. This will export it as a movie (to be imported from iMovie or iDVD.
3b) From the Share menu, Select Send to iDVD.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhoto slideshow to iDVD gives poor movie quality

    Hello,
I would like to take an iPhoto 08 slideshow and turn it into a DVD disc.
iPhoto's feature: "Share > Send to iDVD" is really great, except that it converts my slideshow to a compressed QuickTime .mov file.
I really, really do not like what the QuickTime compression is doing to my image quality.
I seem to recall that iPhoto was once able to export as an uncompressed .DV file. But I can no longer find that feature or workaround.
Does anyone know of a way to turn an iPhoto slideshow into a .DV file? Or, at least some kind of video file that iDVD will recognize and which does not use compression (like AVI or something?).
    Thanks in advance!

Another 3rd party slideshow application with many export options is PhotoPresenter. It has Full Quality option for exporting which is 768 x 576. It also has over 25 animated themes. This demo page has examples of some of them.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • IPhoto Slideshow to iDVD - Audio problem

I created a slideshow in iPhoto and added music from iTunes. The slidewhow is about 40 minutes long and I set the length of the slideshow to match the music (about 10 songs). I shred the show from iPhoto to iDVD using the Share option. When I preview the slideshow in iDVD there is only 1 or 2 songs of audio depending on the time I shared it (I tried a few times). The slideshow keeps running, but with no audio. Any help is appreciated.
    - Derek

You can get the songs you rip from your CD to export into iTunes by the following:
    1. iTunes - Pref - Advanced - Import. Change import using to MP3.
Now all new songs you rip from CD will export with iPhoto
To correct those songs already in iTunes so they will export, do the following:
    1. highlight song in iTunes Library
    2. Toolbar go to Advanced - Click Convert Selection to MP3
3.Now you will have a duplicate of that song in your library. The one just added that you converted, add MP3 to title
4.Use MP3 song in your slide show.
    5. Audio should export with photos.

  • How can I make an iPhoto slideshow into a DVD in Lion?

How can I make an iPhoto slideshow into a DVD in Lion?

If you MacBook Pro came with Lion preinstalled then you will not have a copy of iDVD.  That's because iDVD and iWeb have been discontinued by Apple and is not longer being included in iLife.
You can purchase a copy from Amazon.com: iLive 11.
If you do have Lion this post will self destruct in 10, 9, 8... seconds and you can follow Terence's directionsl
    As for iDVD the following is a recommended workflow to follow;
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Exporting to iphoto slideshow to idvd

I created a slideshow in iPhoto with the following conditions:
    120 images
All images were cropped to 4:3 DVD
I have used the "Ken Burns Effect" on all images
I have included audio from iTunes (playlist with 6 songs)
When exporting to iDVD, the process or status meter completes and then I get a message that the export failed.
When trying to save it as a Quicktime Movie (I have the latest updates and also have Quicktime Pro)it does exactly the same thing, it fails.
Is there a limited amount of pictures you can have in a slideshow? The slideshow plays great in iPhoto, but I want the Ken Burns effect to add some professionalism to the slideshow.
I also used iDVD to create the slideshow and I used a theme and it burned perfectly to a DVD, but with iDVD you do not have the option to use the Ken Burns effect.
I can use iMovie, but I am not thrilled about adding 120+ transitions one-at-a-time and redoing the Ken Burns effects.
Thanks for your help, this is for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary this Saturday (9 Dec) and I hope you can understand my reasoning to get this done soon.

    wolf58:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There is no limit to the number of slides you can have in an iPhoto slideshow. Try again and then check the Console logs to see what it says about iPhoto or Quicktime and post back. Also how much free space do you have on your boot drive?
I'd doing the same for a memorial service next Saturday and if I have problems with export as you are I'll opt to create the entire slideshow in iDVD. The only downside is that you can't have any KB effect nor more than one type of transition. But you can have titles and subtitles on slides if desired.
One thing to check if you get the export to work is the music sync. There are reports of it not syncing as it should. If you run into that, take the movie file that iPhoto created and saved in your Movies folder and import into iMovie. Select the video track and under the Advanced menu choose the extract audio option. Delete it and add your music again to iMovie and then export to iDVD from iMovie. That will assure good music sync. I plan to not add the music at the iPhoto stage but later in iMovie.

Suddenly i can't export iPhoto slideshows to iDVD after upgrading to 10.8.2   I get the message "CouldNotCreateTmpDir"  What do i do to overcome this problem?  I've been making slideshows for ages using iPhoto and iDVD and it's suddenly stopped. Urgent help needed.

Are you saying that you cannot export a slideshow from iPhoto to the Desktop and then drag it from the Desktop (or the Movie frolder where it can be stored) into an open iDVD menu window?
Export the slideshow at the large or medium size:
They drag the movie file into the open iDVD window.  NOTE: do not move the movie file once it's been added to iDVD. That's why it should be placed in folder where you intend to keep it permanently or at least until the iDVD project is completed and burned to a disk image and then to disk.
