I am stuck in how to use ldapsearch against secured DS instance

I have tried so hard on using ldapsearch against secured DS or DPS. Even there are many similar threads in this forum, I am still no lucky to make it out. The common error I got is -8174: bad database. Anybody can help to make it simple and clear?
I am referring 6.3.

I did some googling and found this. It's not specifically related to ldapsearch, but it seems like a general SSL issue.

can you look in the directory that contains your cert8.db and make sure there's a key3.db file in there, too?

We wan't to use ldapmodify to correct some entries in the database.
First I use
ldapsearch -LLL -x 'cn=username'
to see what entries are in the database. But I seams this command don't
show all entries. (I see much more informations with the imanager.)
How can I get/set all this Informations with a commandline tool?
We want to create users without using massuser, because this is a
windows tool, and all other things can be done with linuxscipts
(nambulkadd, set rigths, create homedirs for Windows and Linux, set
password...)
There are only some things missing. Most important the "home Directory"
(volume/path)) Information for windows, (if possible, set owner for the
homedir)
But there are also some other entries like Name, fullname, department...
they are not shown with ldapsearch.

I'm not sure what this means; attributes within the directory can be set
via LDAP, but if the ownership of a file/directory is needed, that will
need to be done some other way I believe, as the directory (meaning
eDir/LDAP) does not include filesystem rights that granularly.

They are if you have rights to read them. You ldapsearch command above is
likely binding anonymously, meaning you only see things that the [Public]
trustee (or a proxy user on your LDAP Group object) can see, which is very
little in terms of available attributes. To add a bind DN try this:

The '-W' prompts for a password; specifying '-w' will let you put the
password on the command line, though I'd avoid that if possible.

How to use an existing remote database instance?

Hi,
is it possible to use an existing remote database instance for installation of Solution Manager?
Our dba has setup an empty database instance on a hpux oracle cluster for me and I don´t know how to tell the SAPinst during the installation of the distributed system that it should use this existing database.
Or is it mandatory to run the installation on the host where the database should resides and then create a new instance?

We currently don't support DataControls based on the ADF BC technology. We will consider such support if there is a strong interest in that use case.
Independent of the IDE's you use, there are ways to expose services based on ADF BC that can then be consumed by the view layer. A Google search will point you to some of the approaches.

I am using the BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE (movement code '03') for goods return against the production order (movement type '262').
everything working fine, ie it gets updated in IM/WM.
but when we check in the CO03 transaction for the production order, the qty withdrwan not gets updated in the component overview. still showing the old value. But when we used regular SAP transaction MB1A, it gets updated in CO03 (qty withdrwan in the component overview).
How to solve this issue using this BAPI.
I have attached the code, plese help me is there any other parameter to set for this BAPI.

How to use Item Level security

I am working on portal 9.0.2.6.18.
I have a folder with 1000 items. I want to grant groupA
access to 997 items and
(Group B,GroupA) access to 3 items.
How do i do this.
Here is what i tried:
1.enabled item level security on folder
2.granted folder level access to groupA and groupB
3.Changed access of 997 items to grant access to GroupA
4.Did nothing to the 3 items which i wanted to give access to GroupA,GroupB
Is there a better way of achieving this?
I am not really comfortable granting folder level access to groupB, because if i miss overwriting privileges of an item (in step 3), then groupB will have access to that item. I would love to change just 3 items because they are the exception.
How is this feature supposed to be used?

Thanks for the reply. I just cited 1000 items folder as an example. We have various complex combination of security requirements for folders and items. So creating sub-folders for each combination will not work for me.
Everytime the security requirements change we have to move the items around, which can confuse users. And sometimes we have to create sub-folders to workaround the item-level security problems even when there is no logical business classification to a set of items.

We were banging our heads on a similar thing, maybe this will help
We needed to convert the wrapped connection to an OracleConnection so that we could do a proxy switch, but maybe you could apply it to your situation anyway
1-you have to convert the Connection object to an OracleConnection in order to use the method that does the proxy switch
The method to do this is getInnermostDelegate()
Once you call this method, you get a new Connection object that can be cast to an OracleConnection object

I have a suspicion that I need to cancel out the CTRL key somehow when typing the numbers but also need to keep the knowledge that the CTRL key is pressed to allow for multiple selection. There is a database which is for 3 companies to use it and how to use row level security to make sure that they can only manipluate their own data? For example, "employee" table, for each company they just can see their own employees information. How to use dynamic view to do it?

Here are two options to achieve what you want.
A. You can do this by coding, that's if you are ready to. Are you? If yes then try the steps below:
1. create a security codes table. Say for example
001 - company a
002 - company b
2. create a security table that will list all users and which company they should have access to. You can also implement this by roles.
3. alter all tables in the application schema to add a security code column. This will be a foreign key reference to table created in 1 above.
4. update all data in the tables according to which company they belong to.
5. write a procedure or package that does a validity check whenever a user requests for data. This procedure/package determines which company data the user has access/rights to.
With this, you should be able to achieve what you want if you do not want to spend on VPD and FGAC. The problem comes where there are users who would have cross access to data from both companies. In this regard, then you have to modify your security table a little bit to handle this.
B. This option i will admit is not so clean. You can also achieve this by two different views for every table in the application schema. And on each of these views, create a private synonym for every user. For illustration purposes:
Table name = Employee.
Create a view employee_a on employee
create a view employee_b on employee
Let's say you have users x and y. X has access to employees of company a and y has access to employees of company b. You can now create private synonyms for each of these users as follows:
create synonym employee on employee_a in x schema.
create synonym employee on employee_b on y schema.
This i have not tried but believe should work.

my Pixi shows me the missed calls in a list of its own? I don't have many, so maybe I'm missing something. But I agree with your half-ranting to some degree. As a long-time Palm-user (my last phone was a Treo 680, terrible form factor, good UI), I am really disappointed with the standard software on this phone. Memos and Tasks, which AFAIK were there and useful even on the first Newton's, have regressed beyond the point of usefulness now (solution: Toodledo and Done!, at least for now).
But ChrisBell: if you feel up for it, you could start tinkering. Many people love these phones so much they have started developing patches to solve the obvious problems skimmed over by developers. Try looking up "webosquickinstall" and "preware", and you will find over 300 patches and a lot of free software to help you out. I am not a computer wizard myself, but I am not scared of them either, and I have been able to make good use of all these extras made available by the community.

I am a Dreamweaver newbie and am trying to learn how to use it through the tutorials. I am stuck at part 3 trying to use Adobe Edge Web Fonts correctly in my web site. As far as I can tell I have followed the instructions in the tutorial correctly, but the font style effect does not show up on my site. I am working on a Windows 7 machine and using Dreamweaver 5.5. I have copied and pasted the javascript into the correct spot in the head of the index.html page as well as included the font-family name in the CSS file and saved the whole smash. The source code for my index page looks exactly like the sample in the tutorial, and I have tried to view my site in my browser, but no dice. Doesn't display the Edge Web Font style in the web page. I believe I've done everything according to the directions, but I suppose I've missed some small detail. Any suggestions greatly appreciated

You need to add a <script> to the head of your documents like the example below. In my example, I'm using all of the aguafina-script and league-gothic fonts.

My question is: is the use of 'scope' attribute of the "jsp:useBean" tag can solve this problem? if yes how to use it? I've tryed to set the scope of the bean to page but that does not help :-(

While a quick search on the <jsp:useBean> tag and the scope attribute will probably yield more information than I can summarize in a few sentences, I'm pretty sure that using the scope="page" attribute on a bean will cause that bean to be instantiated every time the page is loaded. In order for a bean to persist longer than the existance of that page (whether you're loading a new page, or reloading the same one), you'd need to set the scope to session or application (you'd probably want session).

Firefox crashed before I could load my previous session - how may I restore it? I have backed up relevant session files, but have no idea how to use them.

I was using Firefox shortly before deciding to restore my previous session (100+ tabs!), but the browser froze and went blank with the "Not Responding" label on top. This happened to me before, and I decided to just quit the session. I knew that I would lose the session I wanted, but I backed up the important session files found in the Mozilla directory (or at least whatever has "session" and "restore" in its name) while the browser was stuck (before quitting).
What I'd like to understand is HOW TO USE these files to get my session back. I've tried replacing the session files with the back-up copies to no avail. Once long ago I managed to recover a session successfully, but with Firefox constantly changing, I may have lost touch with this.
I use Firefox 34 and Windows 8.1, but I'll need others' help in identifying the session backup/restore files I need to use from the ones I backed up.
I believe that the "recovery.bak" is vital, because it contains the tab/page names I was viewing.
I would greatly appreciate whoever would help me in this, especially if they can teach me the proper methods to follow if this ever happens again (which most likely will!)

You can open the Browser Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer).
Paste the JavaScript code in the command line and press the Enter key to run the code.
