I am trying to install my CS4 Suite onto new PC with Windows 8. It installed Photoshop but nothing else. It is asking me to "Install with 'setup.exe'" Which i dont think is on there. Is there a way around this? Thanks in advance.

Run the cleaner tool and reinstall with sufficient user privileges and security stuff turned off. Your install went wrong because you didn't consider this.

Look out for "japiohelp".
In short:
a) press Windows key + "R", enter "cmd", and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter (= runs as admin)
b) enter "netsh winsock reset" and pres enter
c) reboot the computer

I seem to constantly get confounded by what seems to be the most amazingly unbelievable conundrums with Apple despite having been a champion of the company for years and years. This relates to tethering on iPhone, external Apple hard drives only being usable with MacBook Air, and now this! If anyone is aware of a hack or way around this I would appreciate some guidance. Deleted photo's from my laptop seen as they are on the phone now...how do I keep them on it when I sync it, now that they are no longer on the computer? It seems to start all over again, deleting the photo's and only giving the option to add the photo folder. There must be a way around this?
I transfer them to iTunes, delete them off the comp. When I go to add other NEW photo's, it needs to sync but seen as the old photo's already on the phone are no longer on the computer it updates the phone = no photo's cos the computer doesn't have them. But surely you don't have to keep AAAAALL the photo's on your computer to have them on the phone as well?

I unfortunately find myself in a similar situation as well. About a week ago my HP Windows laptop crashed (I know, I know...) and I am unable to boot it or anything. My iphone was synced to this computer and I still have all my synced photos on the iphone. I completely understand that the iphone is a mirror device and not a storage device but I have painted myself into a corner.
I have 2 folders on the iphone photo app, one is for photos I have taken with the iphone camera and the other is 2,500 photos from when I visited Japan that I synced to the iphone from the laptop.
When I hook my iphone up to another computer it only recognizes the main photo folder.
So is there any way I can get these synced photos off my iphone?
or have I suffered the wrath of owning a windows machine?

There is, but why do you need the s/w installed? The NAS should have a web admin interface, accessible via ip address (http://<ip address>) which should allow all the needed configuration that is required for it to work with machines running os x.
Try to install as little s/w as you need to do something in Mavericks or any OS as it is usually the cause of future issues or problems.
If you're intent on installing the s/w, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General and If you have tried to run it before, it should be listed there. You can then "un-block" it should you wish.

Query pls: Instal of CS4 suite reports errors

Trying to reload CS4 suite onto a new laptop (Toshiba L-50 with NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M graphics card, 8Gig RAM, 750Mg HDD, i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.4GHz, 64bit).
Instal reports 'error2' for Flash, Others seem successful but when I run them there are reported 'missing components' and Photoshop and other elements won't start.
I can't find the same problem in general online forums but wonder 1 - could this be a new graphics card that Adobe hasn't updated drivers for, and 2 - if so.. is there a way forward? Really don't want to have to go to extra expense right now!

Kewill did you transfer any files or your applications to your new computer? The fact that you received an UninstallColorProfilesRollback error would seem to indicate that the previous installation was transferred over instead of being installed on the computer.
Please run the uninstaller for CS4 available in the Programs and Features Control Panel. Once the software is removed please run the CC Cleaner Tool to help ensure complete removal. I think it does work as described, but the description is not very complete. Capitalization does not change any of the characters that you type; what it does is allow some of the lower case characters to display as capitals. If you copy the result and paste it as plain text, you'll see that the lower case characters are still there. It doesn't actually say anywhere that it can make capitals display as lower case, and it can't.
The obvious way around this is to actually type what you want.
The more powerful way is to install WordService from Devon Technologies which adds the functionality of Pages' capitalization menu as well a lot of other ones. WordService actually changes the character to the one displayed, and it works in most of the applications on your Mac.

The issue was that a dialogue box came up which said that I couldn't play this movie on another device. I tried playing the same movie on an Tv with an HDMI connection attached to an adapter to the IPad and that worked. I wonder if the problem is that the digital projector has a VGA connection.

You can transfer music imported from cd's to your iphone. This has never been a restriction.
You are having a problem in your individual case.

Are you using the virtual keyboard to input your password and you cannot see/find the characters you need on that keyboard?
Or are you trying to use a bluetooth keyboard and pressing the printed key does not produce the right character?

I have my preferences set to save messages history in my Mac Messages app and the issue seems to arise when I attempt to send a new AIM message to someone that I have recently had an iMessage conversation with. I have tried right clicking the person's name in my buddy list and selecting "Start New Chat" and it appears as though I'm writing a new AIM message to them but when I send the message it defaults back to an iMessage. AIM is used for daily communication by everyone in my company and used heavily throughout my industry. Considering a majority of my contacts don't have iMessage synced to their Messages/AIM app on their desktop it is ineffective and disruptive to send an iMessage instead of an AIM.
Any insight or help would be appreciated. I'd love to find a solution without having to turn off the save messages history setting in my Mac Messages app.

Hi,
The Name at the "To" spot should become a drop down and this should show you the various ways you can connect to them.
A "Chat" with someone can then switch between the various options if they have several ways.
As @mac.com and other Apple issued ID can also be AIM valid Screen Names you sometimes have to take a little care.
If you have made it to be an AIM chat though it should not switch back to iMessages even if that was the last method they used to contact you.
I find in Mavericks (that I am currently booted into) I can double click the Buddy Line in the Buddy List (And I have my Buddy List separate) the Chat will take on the AIM item in the text field.
This was an iMessages conversation before this.
I presume this still works in Yosemite.

Why are HP printer cartridges country specific? Is there any way around this?

I have just moved from the UK to Newfoundland, Canada and I have brought my HP PSC 1610 printer with me. I was advised not to bring any cartridges with me because they would explode during the flight so I had to buy new cartridges upon arrival.
I noticed that the cartridge numbers recommended for my printer were similar but not exactly the same but the (HP, etc.) websites I looked at did not mention that HP printer cartridges country specific.
In the UK black cartridge is an HP338 (C8765EE).
In Canada the websites told me that the black cartridge is a 94 (C8765WC).
I ordered a 94 cartridge (which took an indordinate amount of time to be delivered) and when I installed it my printer would not accept it ("not intended for use in this printer" error message) even though it fit perfectly. I looked at the packaging in greater detail and noticed that I had been sent a 94 (C8765WL) and I also noticed (in a very small font size) "for sale only in Latin America".
My questions are therefore:
1) Why are HP printer cartridges country specific?
2) Is there any way around this? Eg is there anything I can do to my printer/ laptop to tell it to accept this cartridge?
3) Are 94/ C8765WL cartidges compatible with 94/ C8765WC cartirdges? Ie did the supplier sell me something that couldn't be used even if I had a Canadian HP PSC 1610 printer?
4) Can I return the cartridges to the supplier given that it is based in Canada, they delivered it to me in Canada and yet they sold me a product that says "for sale only in Latin America"?

You will need to Contact HP to request a "Regionalization Reset". There should not be any charge for this, it is covered as part of the cartridge warranty. You will need to have access to your computer and printer while on the line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region, once the reset is complete cartridges from the original region will no longer work. HP's web page on the subject is here.
